[Reuters is Canada-Based Private Media]
Bangladesh will raise the minimum wage for garment workers by 56.25%, the first hike since 2019, the junior labour minister said on Tuesday after a week of protests calling for higher salaries. The minimum wage for workers will be increased from 8,000 taka to 12,500 taka ($114) per month from Dec. 1, State Minister for Labour and Employment Monnujan Sufian said. There will also be a 5% annual increment. The protests, which led to clashes with police that killed two workers and wounded dozens more, pushed the government to form a panel of factory owners, union leaders and officials to consider the demand for higher pay.[...]
"(Government welfare) cards will be provided to the workers, later the ration cards will be given to them so they can buy essential commodities at cheaper rates," Rahman, also a former president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, told Reuters. Workers, however, are not happy with the rise at a time when inflation is running at 9.5%.
7 Nov 23
[TheDailyStar is Bengali Private Media]
The wage board for garment workers has set the minimum salary at Tk 12,500, a little over half of what workers demand. Union leaders have rejected the new minimum wage put forth by the wage board, which accepted the proposal of factory owners’ representative Siddiqur Rahman. The current starting wage is Tk 8,000. Union leaders yesterday threatened to go for tough demonstrations. Workers had demonstrated for 12 straight days.[...]
Before the announcement, members of the Minimum Wage Board, formed on April 9, held a meeting at its office. While the meeting was going on, union leaders outside chanted slogans demanding a minimum wage of at least Tk 23,000. Demanding a starting salary of Tk 25,000, Montu Ghosh, president of Garment Sramik Trade Union Kendra, said the measly amount set was not enough to lead a good life. Inflation and high prices of essentials have made things worse for garment workers. Ghosh along with other union leaders of the Mojuri Briddhite Garment Sramik Andolon, a platform of workers’ unions, in a statement rejected the new minimum wage and called for a rally on Friday where they would announce tougher programmes[...]
If the workers’ unrest continues, the responsibility will lie with the wage board, Nazma said.[...]
[The] president of the Bangladesh Apparel Workers’ Federation, said the prime minister’s intervention is needed in setting the new minimum wage. He demanded ration cards, not the family cards of the TCB, for the garment workers.[...]
The new minimum wage is much less than those offered in India, Cambodia, Vietnam, China and Indonesia. Only Pakistan has a lower minimum wage. Early last month, the Centre for Policy Dialogue, after a survey, interviews and research, estimated that the minimum wage for an RMG worker should be Tk 17,568. The new minimum wage falls short of that. The think-tank had delved into food and non-food expenditure patterns of 228 workers from 76 factories and even considered how many earning members an average RMG worker’s family had. The CPD had stated that the food cost for an RMG worker family was at least Tk 9,198 a month but notes that the standard food expenditure for a family of four would be Tk 16,529 and that the garment workers have to cut corners to make ends meet.
It said 12 percent of the workers’ families do not buy milk at all, 5 percent do not buy sugar, and 5 percent do not consume fruits.

What Is Tarot?
— an educational post
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— ⭑.ᐟ I am aware many people have made posts like this before, however I still felt like creating my own take on it. What inspired me was a post where someone stated that tarot is fictional. Which is incredibly incorrect. Being misinformed is of course, fine, but they said it with such utmost arrogance and confidence that it annoyed me a little. If you are misinformed, not even educated on tarot as a whole, what gives you the right to be a tarot reader? You cannot guide people if you, yourself are wrong and have incorrect information and assumptions. That is what I would have liked to tell them, but unfortunately due to my then circumstances I did not. I also would like to follow the word of God, and He says to act with love, not hatred. So, instead of calling them out and possibly causing an unnecessary argument, I have decided to educate those who might be curious or confused about what tarot actually is as a whole. It’s your choice if you read this or not. I also won’t go into themes of religion, this will strictly be focused on tarot. I just wanted to share what’s on my mind. not proof read.
what is tarot?
Actually, my dearest, tarot was created in the 1430s - 1450s and was first called tarocchi. It’s a game similar to bridge.
They were created in Northern Italy, Milan. Although at the time it was a game, it was still considered a luxury. The cards were hand painted for wealthy people, not necessarily due to them finding joy in it, but rather to reflect their status. It was a symbol of being wealthy.
Although nowadays the standard of a tarot deck is 78 cards it started off with 56 cards, from which the fool was the odd one out, a wild card. - If you have a hard time understanding, think of the joker card from solitaire. -
It was only used as a form of divination at the beginning of the 18th century, aka the 1700s.
Now, there are several reasons whys this has happened, but I will try my best to explain it to you in simple terms. - Although I won’t be able to go into every detail as these topics are very complex and have a rich history behind them, so please keep that in mind. -
In the early 1700s French occultists made claims about their meaning and history. They were confident in their skills, abilities and knowledge. Due to them grabbing people’s attention this led to people making custom cards for the usage of cartomancy.
At these times Romani and Sinti people were heavily discriminated against. They weren’t allowed to settle, work, buy a house and were banned from most public spaces including ones where one can buy food and such. All because they originated from India. So, as a means to keep alive they turned to earning money with divination, creating opportunities for themselves in order to live.
Another reason for tarot in a form of divination becoming popular is due to conservative Christian’s spreading the misinformation of it being related to Kabbalah, the Jewish mystical tradition. Of course, that is not true, never was and never will be. However, they are said to have some parallels. That is as far as it goes though.
Now, you could be thinking to yourself, ‘if it was a game, then it’s not a real divination.’ You are wrong! Let me explain to you why!
Remember how I mentioned that originally it had 56 cards and was named tarocchi? It also originated in the 15th century. The tarot you know of today began in the 18th century, got popular in the 19th century. There is roughly about 300 years between the two events and tarot has evolved for 100 years. So one can argue they are completely different things. Even if they are not, that’s alright.
Objects created for non divination usage can still be used for divination despite the creator’s intent. I will present you with a few examples of this fact.
Some people use their passed on pet’s bones as a form of osteomancy. You throw em, if they touch it’s a yes, if they don’t it’s a no. Sounds pretty messed up, right? For some people at least, can’t guarantee everyone thinks the same. Regardless, that was a living being, a beloved pet. Yet, you can use it’s bones in order to practice spirituality.
If you watch youtube pick a cards this will be easier to understand, regardless, charms can be used as a form of divination. You draw different categories on a paper, throw charms at them, whatever it falls on will have a meaning to your question. Money charms on ‘future spouse’? They might as well be wealthy, or at least good with their money.
Or, if that’s not good enough think about witchcraft. You think every single little thing used for spells, jars, hexes and so on was created for the sole purpose of witchcraft? It wasn’t. Yet it works because it’s intentional, because the person doing them has talent for it, because they were gifted.
how do readers read tarot cards?
I will be honest with you, not all readers are gifted with being able to do so, but they sure believe they do. - Am I saying this out of pettiness? Perhaps, let me be. -
So, if you feel like something is off such as beating around the bush, being too nice, being too mean and so on please trust your gut. Not telling you to be mean to people or accuse them unprovoked, that’s something an @sshole does, and I know you are not one. - Watch out for AI readings though, they suck. -
Moving on, I would like to say that every single tarot reader reads their cards differently. Some only do by visuals, some only does so by meaning, some do by both!
Alongside this, every reader shuffles differently. Some let the cards fall out, some take whatever is on top, some take whatever is standing out of the deck, some let them fall and then organise them neatly.
There is many ways to do this. I personally let them fall out and consider both visuals and meanings simply because I believe that is the right thing to do. - One time, during a love reading they fell out in a heart. I thought that’s cute. - At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter much. I have had several friends with different methods than me give me really good and accurate readings. - Just be catious of people who spread it out and then pick the cards out themselves. -
The most important part is being gifted with claircognizance, or in other words having hella good intuition. - or “6th sense”, whatever you wanna call it. - I believe every reliable and accurate reader is gifted with this, regardless of them being aware or not. You can’t read tarot if you don’t understand what spirit is trying to tell you, let that be your own guides or anyone else’s. Perhaps even your tarot deck.
Often times though, this is not the only thing readers rely on. For instance, I have clairaudience, clairvoyance and clairtypity. I can hear, see and feel what you would during whatever situation I read for you. This is not unique to me at all, every reader has at least one of these, and usually several. I even saw people with clairgustance and clairalience! They can taste and smell what you would! Isn’t that awesome?~ I personally think it’s fascinating, it’s not something that I have ever experienced. It’s cool that there are people out there who can do this.
So, tarot readers read your situation with the help of your spirit guides and their own spiritual gifts that they carry within themselves. As for habits and methods, it varies from person to person.
That is a reason why so many different tarot decks exist! Different people are called to different things. - Plus it’s cool -
how do tarot readings work?
This is the main reason why this post was made.. let’s get into it.
You already know how readers guide you, so I will tell you how do the readings themselves work. What else are they based on. Honestly, the best way I will be able to tell this to you is with examples, so that’s what I will do. Maybe someone else can tell you in a much more detailed and specific manner, but I am not them.
Tarot always reads your current energy. You can look into the past with it, but regardless it reads your current state of mind, thoughts, views, feelings and behaviours.
If you read a pick a card or personal reading that is based on the future - ex.; future spouse - then it will still read on your current energy.
For example let’s say you ask ‘when will I meet my future spouse?’ but you stay inside all day, then it will obviously be a few years or so. However, if the next day you decide to go out more or just put yourself out there in the world more and actually commit to it this can reduce to months.
If it’s a reading on your past then the cards will pick up on what still impacts you, whether you are aware of it or not. Let’s say you ask about your first kiss, how will it be like? Your cards could say that it won’t be as romantic as you think because this and that situation still impacts you.
I sincerely hope that you get the point, as I did my best to explain it.
Yet, there is still a question, ‘if someone is talented, why did that one reading turn out inaccurate?’ well because things change my dear.
If you were to ask me now about the appearance of your future spouse I could say they have brown hair and be correct, but they could go ahead and dye it red 15 minutes after I said that.
Things change constantly all the time and there is nothing we can do about it. That’s just life. It’s hard to hear, it’s hard to swallow, but it’s something we have to accept at some point in time. We can control some things, but not everything.
Change is inevitable.
There is good sides of it, and there is bad. You just gotta live and let others do the same.
Now, for pick a cards it’s slightly different. Maybe, genuinely, something is just not meant for you and you are just meant to ignore that. Maybe it’s for the blond teen in Canada who is asking about that one cute boy in her class. If you read a pick a card reading that is accurate but there is that one thing that doesn’t make sense, consider that means something to someone else. It’s not a personal reading.
That is why disclaimers like ‘take it with a grain of salt’ and ‘leave what doesn’t resonate’ exist. Yes, some people take advantage of it and that’s bad, but they were created with a good reason.
end note.
That is all I wanted to say, I believe. Although I made this post to get something bothersome off my mind I sincerely wish that someone out there has found it useful. My goal was truly to educate so if you know who the OP of the claim was just ignore them. Hating on people for enjoyment is not only immature but is going to have a negative effect on your body, mind and soul. Which I would not like. Please take care of yourselves! Thank you for reading.

sorry for randomly barging in LOL but I was wondering if u had any indchu hcs :3 missing them...
oh man oh man HELLO! it's an honor to see you here, I absolutely adore your writing!!!! you're one of the damn reasons why indchu got me by the neck (and I thank you)!! as for hcs for them... aw yeah.... let's GO!!!
hair care.....brushing...stroking...massaging
they definitely worship together. they both are devout to their own religions and beliefs, but simply due to proximity (and knowing each other for eons atp), they practice the traditions of the other without being asked. I don't think they notice it either. it's just (absolutely romantical) second nature to participate in each other's cultures
TECH NERDS. a pair of dorks!!! they are fascinated by both old and new ibms, software, hardware, smartphones, machinery, etc, and will buy anything that comes out to review it together. they exchange devices and gadgets like baseball cards. catch them at CES taking over the conference and plugging their shared tech review youtube channel
despite where their relationship is in current day, they have the spare key to each other's places. sometimes when they're not there, the other will still go over to do literally nothing (they just really like having their scent around... coats and blazers go missing often)
all it takes is that one stare to let them know what they need from each other
and they LOVE ARGUING because they think it's HOT and will argue because they know what it leads to!!! toxic mfs get therapy challenge!!! (IMPOSSIBLE)
they love to gossip together and will do so to people's faces. how do they get away with it? they use ancient and obscure indian and chinese dialects to speak with each other because they know no one will understand a lick of it!! fcking genius!!
they're their own personal tailors. they know their measurements by heart, their favorite colors, their shoe size, the best color for their complexions, etc. india is most def the biggest fashion hunter of the two, so china HAD to learn modern sewing patterns and techniques just to APPEASE him. the audacity!! (india does gift him shiny shiny mulberry silk in return)
their culinary skills....their FOODS. enough said!!!
indchu supremacy always and forever

hello!! came across you recently and read a bunch of your posts, and I’m really impressed with the way you always keep focus on how [x subject] relates to material reality and action/goals. if you don’t mind answering, I was wondering what kind of actions (besides debating/critique, which is what I’m able to see from Social Media Site) do modern day communists do to build revolution? I’m sure this varies wildly, but it’s hard for me to imagine when imperial power is so strong. thanks!
yeah, so obviously--as you said--this varies. there's no universal answer to this one, because what tactics are effective and possible for a revolutionary organization vary immensely. like, there are places in the world right now where people are still fighting protracted people's wars--the EZLN in mexico, Naxalites in india, and the NPA in the phillippines, etc.
assuming, however, that you're talking about an imperial-core or a semiperipheral perspective--there are a lot of things that communist organizations can do. obviously, revolution isn't in the cards for the near future, any basic analysis shows that very conclusively. the main things that communist organizations can do in these circumstances is build class consciousness.
now, a lot of groups think that this means simply 'disseminating critique and newspapers', but i think that's an un-marxist understanding of class consciousness. you cannot persuade the working class into going from zero to revolutionary, no matter how effective your propaganda. you have to help people organize and help them fight for causes--people are only going to believe in the possiblity of mass action if they live class struggle, if they get actual experience of engaging in political struggle and making real change in the world.
alright, so what does that look like? first of all, it doesn't look like supporting bourgeois parliamentary parties. they are a black hole that sucks up working class organization and uses it to sustain a cottage industry of wealthy legislators, lobbyists and consultants.
things that i've personally seen happen include:
giving out free food/hygiene products/other necessities
contributing to and organizing mutual aid networks
rebuilding and renovating defunct community buildings
counterprotesting fascists trying to intimidate refugees
mobbing immigration police to prevent deportations
showing up to picket lines and anti-austerity/solidarity protests
scanning and uploading previously unavailable socialist writing
establishing and aiding copwatch networks
and to be clear--these are tactics! they are not an end goal--they are not part of the world we ultimately want to see--doing these things does not take us along a path to socialism. there is the difference between participating in reformist struggles as a tactic for building class consciousness and being reformist--the latter means seeing these things as ends, doing them with the belief that they can be permament solutions--the former means seeing this things as means, things people can get involved in and gain a genuine and personal understanding of class struggle.
ultimately i think the #1 job of any serious revolutionary organization is to build class consciousness and solidarity. and while i do think that leafleting and stickering and putting out pamphlets and newspapers and essays and yes, even silly little posts on my silly blog, can play a small role in that--ultimately most people will not become communists unless they see communists making real change in the world around them.
(addendum: in addition to all this, many revolutionary communist organizations often also do the sort of thing that it's not advisable to talk about online)

Hey there! I was surprised that your OC Ivy is actually Indian as well! Can you tell me something more about her? :)
Hi! Thank you for your ask :))
I'm actually Indian too, so I totally wanted to make an Indian OC! I never really saw any until yours and I was pretty surprised too. I must say it gave me some motivation to make my own.
Anyway, here's Ivy! (I'm still figuring out her lore, so some of these MAY change in future lol)
About my COD OC, Ivy "Vampire" Valentina Salvador de Almeida
Basics
Ivy is the only daughter of Salvador and Helen de Almeida.
She was born in India, in the state of Goa, on the outskirts of Madgaon and lived there for a few years before moving down south to Karnataka, where she spent her formative years. Her teenage and adult years were spent in Liverpool, England.
She can speak Konkani and English fluently, while she has partial fluency in Portuguese and Kannada
She's a devout Roman Catholic
Her personality type is ENFJ
She's a tall girl standing at 5'7"/170 cm! Always stood at the back of the line for school assemblies. She inherited her height from her dad.
She's a WO2 Drill Sergeant in the British Army and serves in the Infantry Training Center where she trains infantrymen in basic and advanced skills.
She's nicknamed 'Vampire' from her slightly long canine teeth, all natural.
Personality
Being an extrovert, she enjoys company and doesn't like being alone.
She's normally quiet, but if she does speak, she's charismatic, genuine, and charming, and this often got her into quite some leadership positions in school and university, and allows her to very easily make friends.
Drinking makes her talkative, and even flirtatious, but she'll have to drink quite a lot to get to that point.
She has a strong sense of justice, and cannot stand it if innocent people are needlessly harmed. Being a drill sergeant gives her a little power to execute justice if needed.
She's optimistic to a fault, often getting bogged down by reality sometimes.
Her restless, adventurous spirit makes her hate being in one place. She enjoys travelling and doing highly thrilling activities like bungee jumping. She can also be quite reckless; give her a motorcycle and she'll be popping wheelies and even drifting.
Being an only-child, she can be quite selfish and bossy, though most of it was beaten out of her during her basic training.
Likes and Dislikes
She enjoys cooking and baking and can make a variety of dishes.
She loves reading historical accounts and all sorts of fiction, especially thrillers and mysteries. Her favourite novel is 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. She also enjoys Dostoevsky's novels
Her favourite Indian food is Mysore masala dosa and English food is Scotch egg
She hates milk tea and extremely spicy food (her Indian card is always at the risk of being revoked)
She loves anything that has garlic in it, though her favourite would be garlic bread
Her favourite dessert is apple pie
An area that has her whole heart is the Western Ghats
Her favourite color is phtahlo green
English Ivy
Her father is an adventurous man, so he took his family hopping around a lot from Goa to Karnataka, and eventually to England, where his wife got a job as a nurse.
Ivy and family moved to England when she was around fifteen years old, and settled in Liverpool.
Getting used to England's cold and gloom was a nightmare for poor coast born Ivy who loves the sun and heat. She can comfortably tolerate 30-35 degrees C like most Indians, but absolutely suffers through English winters despite eventually getting used to it.
Her years in Liverpool eventually bestowed upon her the glorious Scouse accent, though hers has an Indian lilt to it.
She had a hard time adjusting in English society, especially as an extrovert and a teenager, and often felt unwelcome in school. However, her university years were much more pleasant.
Do not talk to her about the Indian food in England. She will not hesitate to begin her TED talk.
If there's anything she actually does like about England, it's the abundance of pubs. She loves to drink, but considering how reckless she is known to be, she's surprisingly a responsible drinker and rarely lets herself get blackout drunk.
I've yet to think about her interactions with TF141, but that's all about her for now!
Wow, I really did infodump on you lmao. I hope it was an interesting read ^^ I'm excited to develop her some more and make more Ivy content <3
Thank you again for your ask! Have a great day/night :)

💬 Simon, and the subject is pillow talk
"All right, Wondy, so it's like this."
Tumblr media
They're stuck on monitor duty again. Well, 'stuck' is a strong word - Hank actually really likes monitor duty, but only if it's with Simon (mysteriously), and Simon seems to like it just because it means he doesn't have to go out, risking life and limb.
He's only recently back from the dead, after all. Hank can understand.
They're about halfway through the jumbo pack of Chinese food they've ordered, and Hank, in particular, insists on delivering his words through mouthfuls of a really rather nice beef chow mein. Go figure.
"Say you've got a girl with you. In your case, it's almost certainly a girl you've managed to charm with my assistance, so you're welcome, well in advance. Say she's really got a thing for the Uncle Elmer Sh - ALL RIGHT, ALL RIGHT!" Hank giggles like a fool as Simon makes to hit him with a scallion pancake.
Tumblr media
"Say she's got a thing for . . . okay guys with lantern jaws and B tier movie star looks - that's you, Wondy, by the way. You get to holding hands, you read the signals, you put your hands where she wants you to - I find they usually really like it when you bring your hand up like this and squeeze."
It's very heterosexual, the way Hank brings a hand up to grasp at Simon's side and squeeze, thumb stroking over the muscle. Hoo, there's a lot of muscle.
Tumblr media
"You lean in, and - oh yeah, this is probably the point where I have to clarify, she's probably gotta be all right with the eyes, or you're gonna have to do your focus thing to make that go away, 'cause chicks do not dig it when you have shades on when you're intimate. So, you make eye contact, like this."
Hank casually whips off Simon's sunglasses. The eyes don't bother him one bit. Why would they? It's never bothered Simon that Hank's blue, has it? He's never even said a word about it.
There's a crackle in the air that has absolutely nothing to do with the ions that make up Simon's form.
"You lean in, and you give them this look."
Tumblr media
It's a very soft, warm, loving look that Hank gives Simon now. Tender. He's such a good actor, he makes it look really quite real, down to that little melancholy tinge of pining and wanting but never quite having.
"They go nuts for that. Then you have to start talking, because that's another thing, chicks do NOT dig it when you're just silent in bed, it creeps them out and they don't like it. Tell a joke, choke out a, 'huhhhh you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen,' even just a quiet little, 'god,' you know, in that way where you bite your lip and it's like you're a little stunned they're there with you? Like this."
Tumblr media
Hank lets out a shuddering, heated little breath, his tongue darting out to very gently card over his lips, and he exhales shakily, squeezing at Simon's side again, letting out an awed little 'god.'
"The squeeze is good if you can do it in concert, that's real good. Action to the words, Wondy, action to the words. Where you go from here is kinda up to you, everyone does their own sort of thing. I like to go a little poetic, especially if the girl's particularly knock out gorgeous."
Tumblr media
He leans in close, his nose practically buried in Simon's collarbone. They both stink of Chinese takeout. This is a weird way to do monitor duty. But Hank's voice, which is usually so mile a minute, is all kinds of soft and slow and sumptuous and warm in a way Simon never hears it. It's - kind of - distracting, honestly.
"Busy old fool, unruly sun, why dost thou thus, through windows, and through curtains call on us? Must to thy motions lovers' seasons run?Thy beams, so reverend and strong, why shouldst thou think? I could eclipse and cloud them with a wink, but that I would not lose her sight so long."
Hank hasn't blinked. Not once. Simon has. Plenty.
Tumblr media
"If her eyes have not blinded thine, look, and tomorrow late, tell me, whether both th' Indias of spice and mine be where thou leftst them, or lie here with me. Ask for those kings whom thou saw'st yesterday, and thou shalt hear, all here in one bed lay."
This is - really detailed. Simon thinks he's learning a lot. Hank's even showing him how to reach up and gently tuck a stray hair behind his ear, just like you would for your girl. Of course. Good friend, Hank. The best.
Tumblr media
"He's all states, and all princes, I. Nothing. Else. Is."
There's a silence between them. Hank's . . . all but draped across Simon, now, their chests pressed against one another, blue fingers cupping a Hollywood cheekbone while blazing red eyes trace the contours of a jawline that every woman this side of the Hudson loves to bits.
Hank clears his throat.
"She's, all states. Sorry. Flubbed the line."

They withdraw.
"So yeah, that's basically how you do it. Pass me the szechuan dumplings, would you, Wondy?"
Simon does, even as he thinks.
Hank never flubs a line.
"I mean, that's how I'd do it, anyway."

7月24-25號: Hurricane days!!
Day 13:
So today we gained a new guest that will join us breifly on our trip, but make a huge impact. Typhoon Gaemi decided to waddle on through Taiwan. We are all safe and sound in our hotel but we will be staying here an extra day. I am not mad at it. I having an extra day in a hotel that is literally a hotspring. It is a pretty decent situation to be in. Although now we will miss a whole city that we were supposed to experience on this trip. But today I started off slow. I had breakfast and went on a run. It was so hot inside the hotel because they turned some of the power off. But I still ran on the treadmill and struggled to get to 3 miles. I ran at about a 8:15 pace which was pretty good because I haven't ran in a while. Then I thought I would go to the cold spring to cool down my muscles and help recovery like an icebath would, but the outside was closed so I could only go to the inside spring which was not as cold. Andy ended up joining me and we got to talk for a while, but then we both left.
I went out to try KFC in the rain and let me tell you, it was NOT worth it. India KFC is SO much better. After that all the boys met up and we played some cards together. It was so fun. Austin taught us a new game called Cambio. It's really fun and really competitive. After playing some cards, we all met up with the rest of the group and tried to go get mcdonalds for everyone. Me and the boys ended up walking almost a mile to arrive at mcdonalds and find out that it's closed. So we then walked back, and stopped by 7-eleven to pick up food for everyone. Then we all got to talk together and eat our food. After I finished my food, I left and went to bed. I felt like i really took care of myself and did something good for my body by running and then relaxing the rest of the day.
Day 14:
Today was another relaxing day where I really got to focus on myself and take care of myself in the morning. I woke up and had breakfast which consisted of the normal rice, pastries, watermelon, and braised beef. Then, after a bit, I thought it good to go down back to the springs and do some rehab. So, I did some exercises in the water for my leg and also stretched a lot. I am feeling somewhat better, but my knee is still injured. Very much debating on getting surgery when I get back to America. But after my PT session, I went with Austin, Jack, and Jacob to get our feet kissed. Pause. Feet kissed by fish of course. We got to experience a little bit of culture and stick our feet into a tub of fish that would eat the dead skin off of our feet. It was actually the funniest thing ever. We were all laughing so hard because it felt so weird and it tickled. There were SO many of the little fishies in there as well. Then we met back up with Andy after getting some more of our favorite snack/breakfast, Scallion Pancakes. They are DELICIOUS! After the pancakes, Austin found some poker chips so we could play poker. I was so excited! I love card games. Before poker we all went out for dinner which was pretty good. Then from about 9:30 to 12am we played poker and Cambio. It was a great night and a great day. The next thing to do on the list was pack for our long travel day for tommorow.
Until next time, 再見!

HD Mostly set outside the UK fic recs - Others
Here are a few drarry recs that are mostly set in outside of the UK, North America or the EU. Listed in alphabetical order.
Aeternus Solem by @onbeinganangel  [36k]
On December 1st, Harry Potter gets sent halfway across the world to attempt to break a possibly fatal curse on an unnamed British Unspeakable — except said Unspeakable is not unnamed at all and Harry has been in love with him for over four years.
Ai by talkplaylove [18k]
Harry Potter wanders into a bar.
Call Me by Your Name (And I’ll Call You by Mine) by @acupforslytherin [35k]
My dearest Harry, because no matter how far we are, even two different worlds apart, I can never tell where you end and I start.
Draco never expected Potter to find his way back to his life, especially after seven years of no contact, but here he was. With Potter’s will in his hands, his own name written in that untidy scribble he recognized anywhere, Draco had to accept this was his time to reopen an old wound, revisit painful memories, and relearn everything he thought he knew about his past.
Connecting Lines, Connecting Crimes by sleepstxtic [15k]
Magic is going haywire after ley lines all over the world are mysteriously failing. A cross-border Task Force is set up by the League of Wixen Nations with Expert Cartologist Draco Malfoy and Ley Line Specialist Pansy Parkinson being called in from Britain to work with Magi-Geographers Harry Potter and Parvati Patil in India. But can they get to the root of the issue before it’s too late? Featuring: an excessive use of holograms, numerous references to food, and lots and lots (and lots!) of travel.
Forged through flowing water by @tedahfromtayla [40k]
When Hermione sets up a diplomatic mission to begin repairing the damage British colonisation did to Indian magical communities Harry isn’t going to pass on the opportunity to visit and help his family’s home country. Maybe he should have asked a few more questions about the personnel she had recruited for it before signing on because Malfoy surely has an ulterior motive to be there.
Or
Harry goes back to India to rediscover some of his lost roots. He meets Malfoy there. Hijinks ensue!
The Great Magic Sex Mushroom Fiasco by Magnolia822 [6k]
Lost in the Siberian wilderness without food, Aurors Potter and Malfoy are forced to improvise, with unexpected consequences …
Grounds for Divorce by Tepre [122k]
Malfoy finds a coin. Harry finds a letter.
A story about histories, a story about families. A story about a lemon tree somewhere in Upper Egypt.
Potential Gravity by @lol-zeitgeistic [32k]
Draco is not good at Cards Against Humanity, but Harry’s not good at being human, so it all works out. Except for the explosions. And Harry’s inability to live when Draco’s not around.
Sæglópur by @femmequixotic [34k]
After a difficult breakup, Draco finds himself dragged to the land of magic, law, and natural wonders where, of course, nothing goes as planned.
The Spider and the Moth by marguerite_26 [10k]
Young Auror Harry Potter is sent to Morocco to investigate a potion smuggling ring. He quickly realises he’s in over his head with both the assignment and the primary suspect.
Survival of the Species by @romaine2424 [46k]
Draco approaches Harry on the 9 ¾ platform, after their sons have boarded the Hogwarts Express, and invites him over for tea.  The discussion they have leads them on an adventure that neither could have expected. There be dragons! HPDH compliant.
Ticking Time by calrissian18 [5k]
Draco moves to Egypt to escape his past. Of course Potter has to come along and be a tangible representation of it.
Through Worlds by @rain-beee [42k]
Harry is looking for a new start, and he’s travelled the world to find it. Now in Japan, a chance encounter with someone from his past threatens to distract him from his goal, but when he runs into them again and again, he begins to wonder if maybe he’s found what he was searching for all along.
The Unspeakable by @the-sinking-ship [24k]
Healer Draco Malfoy took the job at the International Department of Mysteries for the paycheck and the prestige.
But what he got was Unspeakable Harry Potter and the most fascinating curse he’d ever seen.
I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I did!

“While communism is the control of business by government, fascism is the control of government by business." Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
During the BBC Election Debate, hosted by Mishal Hussain, the candidates were asked how our country would be kept “safe from another major conflict?” We had the expected answers regarding increased spending on the armed forces, a commitment to maintaining our nuclear deterrent and increasing the number of military personnel. Carla Denya, the co-leader of the Green Party, however, took a different tack, pointing out a less obvious, but perhaps the most dangerous threat of all.
“The biggest threat facing the UK and the world is climate change"
Ok, this is exactly the answer the leader of the Greens would give. No points for working that out. But the fears she voiced were not that we would all die of heat stroke, or burn to death in forest fires, nor was she unduly concerned about increased rainfall or flooding per se. She didn’t even mention rising sea levels due to melting icecaps.
Having put forward climate change as the biggest existential threat Britain is facing she went on to tell us:
” And militaries, interestingly, are taking this threat extremely seriously.”
The reasons hardheaded military authorities all over the world are taking climate change so seriously is because it will create food and water shortages leading to famine. This in turn will cause conflict as millions of people literally fight to the death trying to access these diminishing resources, which in turn will lead to massive migration and refugee problems.
Africa will be one of the worse affected continents.
“17 out of the 20 countries most threatened by climate change are in Africa." (uneca.org: 02/11/23)
Africa has a population of nearly 1.5billion souls, 60% being younger than 25 years of age. According to Statistica, 45% of Africans are Muslim while Christians make up the majority of the population.  In sub-Saharan Africa 36 of the 42 countries were at war with each other between 2018-2022.
These wars involve Muslim and Christians alike, and according to the German Institute for Global and Area Studies, “religious violence in Africa has become frequent and is increasing”. Most of the theological conflicts involve Sunni Islamists, but Christian fundamentalists are also responsible for a number of deadly conflicts.
As climate change impacts more and more on the environment, expect further conflicts as all sides battle for control and access to the vital resources of food and water.
The developed western democracies are historically blamed for global warming due to industrialisation. More recently, China and India must share some of the responsibility for rising CO2 levels. However, when millions of Africans are on the move trying to escape the inevitable increase in conflict in their geographical region, it is not America, China or India they will be heading toward – it will be Europe. This will cause massive social tensions. Even if these refugees were of the same ethnic and religious persuasion as we native white Europeans this would still cause resentment and resistance. Indeed, this is already happening.
The far-right in this weeks European elections, have played the “immigration card” to great effect, stoking peoples fears to their own political advantage.  The sad fact is, there is some truth in what they say. Mass migration has led to lower wages – it was meant to!  That is simply the law of supply and demand. An influx of tens of thousands of migrants in a short period of time, does lead to housing shortages and strains on health and education services. Only a fool would deny these potential problems.
How much migration contributes to these problems - rather than under-investment and budget cuts -   doesn’t really matter if people THINK migrants are the sole problem. Across Europe the far-right are successfully laying ALL of the blame for failing public services on excessive migrant numbers. At the moment numbers are relatively low compared to what is to come.  Imagine how much more traction they will gain when the existing conflicts in Africa worsen due to climate change and millions more young Africans head for Europe’s shores.
ALL of the far-right political parties in Europe are hostile towards migrants but they also are highly critical of the green agenda and policies aimed at mitigating climate change. Nigel Farage stated a few days ago that decarbonising the grid by 2035 is “unaffordable”. What's more, he claims green policies are "sacrificing economic growth". According to Farage, "net zero is a bad policy and is bad for people.”
If the Greens are right, then continued global warming will result in a massive increase in African migration as their continent is hit by chronic food and water shortages, and resulting regional conflict.  For Forage and the rest of the far-right in Europe, growing the economy (and making the already wealthy even richer) by the same old polluting industrial practices is far more important than mitigating the inevitable increase in African refugees seeking safety in Europe.
If they were genuinely concerned about migration numbers they would be supporting the green agenda, not opposing it.
The really cynical might be forgiven for believing that without the emotive issue of migration then the political parties on the far-right might have nothing with which to appeal to their electorates. After all, none of them offer alternative economic policies to the ones we already have, and for the vast majority of Europeans, and certainly here in Britain, these policies have been failing ordinary working people for years.

In 2023, the relentless increase in global heating will continue, bringing ever more disruptive weather that is the signature calling card of accelerating climate breakdown.
According to NASA, 2022 was one of the hottest years ever recorded on Earth. This is extraordinary, because the recurrent climate pattern across the tropical Pacific—known as ENSO (El Niño Southern Oscillation)—was in its cool phase. During this phase, called La Niña, the waters of the equatorial Pacific are noticeably cooler than normal, which influences weather patterns around the world.
One consequence of La Niña is that it helps keep a lid on global temperatures. This means that—despite the recent widespread heat waves, wildfires and droughts—we have actually been spared the worst. The scary thing is that this La Niña will end and eventually transition into the better-known El Niño, which sees the waters of the equatorial Pacific becoming much warmer. When it does, the extreme weather that has rampaged across our planet in 2021 and 2022 will pale into insignificance.
Current forecasts suggest that La Niña will continue into early 2023, making it—fortuitously for us—one of the longest on record (it began in Spring 2020). Then, the equatorial Pacific will begin to warm again. Whether or not it becomes hot enough for a fully fledged El Niño to develop, 2023 has a very good chance—without the cooling influence of La Niña—of being the hottest year on record.
A global average temperature rise of 1.5°C is widely regarded as marking a guardrail beyond which climate breakdown becomes dangerous. Above this figure, our once-stable climate will begin to collapse in earnest, becoming all-pervasive, affecting everyone, and insinuating itself into every aspect of our lives. In 2021, the figure (compared to the 1850–1900 average) was 1.2°C, while in 2019—before the development of the latest La Niña—it was a worryingly high 1.36°C. As the heat builds again in 2023, it is perfectly possible that we will touch or even exceed 1.5°C for the first time.
But what will this mean exactly? I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the record for the highest recorded temperature—currently 54.4°C (129.9°F) in California's Death Valley—shattered. This could well happen somewhere in the Middle East or South Asia, where temperatures could climb above 55°C. The heat could exceed the blistering 40°C mark again in the UK, and for the first time, top 50°C in parts of Europe.
Inevitably, higher temperatures will mean that severe drought will continue to be the order of the day, slashing crop yields in many parts of the world. In 2022, extreme weather resulted in reduced harvests in China, India, South America, and Europe, increasing food insecurity. Stocks are likely to be lower than normal going into 2023, so another round of poor harvests could be devastating. Resulting food shortages in most countries could drive civil unrest, while rising prices in developed countries will continue to stoke inflation and the cost-of-living crisis.
One of the worst-affected regions will be the Southwest United States. Here, the longest drought in at least 1,200 years has persisted for 22 years so far, reducing the level of Lake Mead on the Colorado River so much that power generation capacity at the Hoover Dam has fallen by almost half. Upstream, the Glen Canyon Dam, on the rapidly shrinking Lake Powell, is forecast to stop generating power in 2023 if the drought continues. The Hoover Dam could follow suit in 2024. Together, these lakes and dams provide water and power for millions of people in seven states, including California. The breakdown of this supply would be catastrophic for agriculture, industry, and populations right across the region.
La Niña tends to limit hurricane development in the Atlantic, so as it begins to fade, hurricane activity can be expected to pick up. The higher global temperatures expected in 2023 could see extreme heating of the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico surface waters. This would favor the formation and persistence of super-hurricanes, powering winds and storm surges capable of wiping out a major US city, should they strike land. Direct hits, rather than a glancing blow, are rare—the closest in recent decades being Hurricane Andrew in 1992, which made landfall immediately south of Miami, obliterating more than 60,000 homes and damaging 125,000 more. Hurricanes today are both more powerful and wetter, so that the consequences of a city getting in the way of a superstorm in 2023 would likely be cataclysmic.
