When I was talking about HDM and daemons at one point I got my partner to take the Firstginger quiz and I showed him some formfinding resources. (All for fun, he doesn't know about daemonism practice.)

On the Firstginger quiz he got a waterfowl called a Screamer, which he said the description fit him well. But he also felt like his dae would be a fox, so I showed him some of the different fox analyses and he said he felt red foxes were very accurate. I have heard from others who also experienced some waterfowl/fox overlap, and so I am going to say that because of a preference towards foxes his daemon would probably be a red fox. (I do personally think preference can influence the form a dae settles as, to a degree.)

I occasionally imagine/project his daemon for fun, and while I know he would prefer a darker coat color like a silver fox, I cannot imagine his daemon as being anything but a fire and ice coated fox. I imagine her being less fluffy and instead having longer fur like the American red fox.

She does not have any name in my mind, simply because she is not my daemon and I feel a bit awkward about naming her. But, I still may project her just for fun.

But in general, I say write the things down that make you YOU. What about your personality, disposition, life, hobbies, presence you have, and reputation influence how others see you and how you see yourself.

What animals are you drawn to? Start with those and look them up on the forum.

What animals have reputations that match yours? Are you a trickster fox or docile doe? Do you love socializing and have a strong work drive and ethic like some domestic dogs? Things like that.

I definitely rely on the forums for form finding.

For us it is a mix of choice and instinct. When we first started out we chose the species of past and current pets. But when we started dipping our toes into formfinding we naturally took the shape of a vague fox (leaning towards an arctic fox), and Ayeoh began picking his own forms (mountain lion).

When we read about grey foxes something clicked and he took that form and stuck that way. It's either instinctual, or my dae knows more then I do, because he settled as a grey pretty instantly. We still take a few other forms by choice because they are convenient or have personal meaning, but he is nearly always a grey fox.

how do yall's daemons choose/find their forms? im genuinly curious, because Apophis's form has always been a white snake. Like, the second i read HDM for the first time i thought, "oh, my daemon would be a white snake." when i started practicing daemonism, she was just,, a snake. She sometimes plays with other forms, like she often takes a luna moth form when i'm biking, but she's always been a white snake. (specifically hognose usually, but sometimes a ball python)
