It was unbelievable how much you liked Roger already. You’d only been together for a few weeks and you were completely smitten. No one else had ever made you feel the same way he did. You were ridiculously happy whenever you were around him. And things only got worse for you after you started sleeping together. You’d have had him five times a day, seven days a week if you’d been able to. Of course, you knew the exciting-new-relationship bubble would pop at some point but that wasn’t a bad thing. In fact, because you liked him so bloody much you were kind of looking forward to it. The moment when it stopped being about trying to impress each other and it all became real. You’d got there with a few other people but most of the time the bursting bubble also meant the end of the relationship. But you couldn’t see that happening with Roger. For now though, you were very happy to enjoy the giggly, sex filled, early days of the relationship, trying to prove you were worth each other’s time.

I was listening to Headlong on YouTube and I noticed in the little copyright bit that automatically appears in the description of some videos that the writer is listed as Billie Grey. So 1) whomst the fucc is that? 2) why are they listed as not only A writer but as the ONLY writer? 3) why is YouTube the only place I’ve found this (iirc)? I figured you were probably the best person to ask about this 😊

Okay, well, this is confusing and the only thing that makes sense to me is that it’s youtube’s algorithm fucking up.

The “Music In This Video” section information is automatically generated by youtube according to this support page. And if you google search any combination of Headlong/Queen and Billie Grey the only results that come up are youtube videos - because this information is found in every Headlong video on youtube that has the “Music In This Video” section, from the official video to amateur covers. There’s not a single other source online I could find connecting a Billie Grey to Queen in any way, shape, or form.

Though, with regards to youtube, the Queen Official account uploaded just the song audio in 2018 and that doesn’t have the “Music In This Video” section at the bottom. It instead lists everyone involved with the song with all four members of Queen correctly being listed as composers/lyricists. (Brian has been confirmed to be the main songwriter, but by Innuendo all tracks were being credited to “Queen” as a whole and it’s not uncommon for credits to be listed to all four individually like this instead.)

I even tried to figure out who Billie Grey might be and I don’t have a good answer for that. The closest I can find is a discogs page for a Billie Grey, which was a pseudonym used by a songwriter in the 1920-30s best known for the song “The Laughing Policeman” - which, frankly, sounds nothing like Headlong but I suppose it’s possible that youtube’s algorithm decided that the two songs shared enough similarities somehow, and the “Billie Grey” credit is based on that? It’s also just possible that something went wrong behind-the-scenes and Headlong got mis-attributed to Billie Grey in youtube’s database for some reason. 

The more confusing thing, to me, is whether anyone involved with Queen’s youtube channel knows that the incorrect information is being generated, because apparently you can submit a complaint form to have youtube correct it. But to be fair I think 1) I don’t think the people running the youtube channel pay attention to this kind of minutia and 2) Queen Official stopped using the “Music In This Video” section altogether, and instead defaults to longer (but still auto-generated) lists of the personnel involved with the songs which they include in their descriptions. 

And somehow, that list has the correct information for Headlong even though the “Music In This Video” section does not so. *shrugs forever*
