My darling duders, when they tell you self publishing is not for the weak- they sure weren't kidding.

It's rough. It's real rough. Even well established self pubbed authors are struggling this year. The Amazon boycotts are killing indie publishing- and unfortunately publication of TW fell right in the middle of all these boycotts.

I also underestimated the emotional toll of all of this. Of putting your entire heart and soul into a story that still haunts your dreams.

I never really expected to make back the out of pocket cost it takes to publish this book, not this year anyway. I knew it would take years just to break even for a book that took me thousands of hours and 5 years to write. I didn't expect to make back the cost of editing or of cover art. Or of the tools that I needed for formatting.

I expected criticism and I also expected that I would be doing a lot of screaming into the void. I expected failure, to a certain extent at least.

I might put together some posts of the Do's and Donts of self pubbing at some point. It's a plan. But I am really only now getting to an emotional place where I am handling life again. I might make a post on greif and how it's intermingled with my writing process. Maybe.

Anyway this isn't a whiny poor me widdle baby post. This is a gentle and kind reminder to those of you who are publishing, published- or aspiring to do this someday.

I beg of you, give yourself time to heal and grieve after publishing. Don't be too hard on yourself if you dont sell much, or aren't up to sales and marketing. Breathe into it and let the feelings happen.

And when you stare at the ceiling at night- wondering why the FUCK you're doing this when nobody cares- remind yourself that you still did it. You pushed through. You did it.

And that was the point right? To do it.

Self publishing is a slog. And really so is trad- but you've got a team behind you (allegdly). Success takes time. Again. Breathe into it.

And for those of you who dont want to read a really stupid and long rambling post, the TLDR is- me tired. Pooblishing be hard. Been having a sad. Take care of yourself so you dont have a sad.

Tangled Wires Book 1 (STATUS UPDATE: POOblished-- Date 1/11/25!!!!!!!)

Raz knows two things, computers - and that people can't be trusted. However on the run, and with the head of the Russian mob seeking to put her back in a cage Raz must quickly decide if Emet Shultz of the FBI can be trusted, and if he can help her unlock the treacherous secrets of her past. As the past reveals itself, one thing becomes clear- nothing is as it seems, and sometimes lies are easier to stomach than the truth.

Ethereal Mischief: Book one of the EM Trilogy (complete)

Summary: Okay, really. Who expects to be murdered on their birthday? Definitely not Althea; and especially not by a god straight out of mythology. Hades however, is real and hell bent on using Althea as a tool to fulfill his own desires. From her own identity to her mother’s death, Hades reveals that her entire life has been a carefully constructed lie. In a world where a broken promise can lead to a lifetime of debt, Althea must fight against those who seek to control her.

Divine Intervention: Book two of the EM Trilogy (also complete but first draft)

Summary: Dealing with the reality that mythology is NOT in fact myth was one thing. Dealing with the fact that her dead mother was NOT in fact dead- but a goddess, and very much alive was another. Now Althea has new problem. As real as the Greek God of pantheons has become, she is suddenly dragged into a deep feud between the Greek and Norse pantheon, when twin girls show up on her doorstep half dead and desperate to get home. Will Althea be able to help them? Or will helping them only push her further down the path to madness?

Summary: High fantasy story about young girls discovering who they truly are after the tragic and sudden death of their mother (high fantasy).

I am technically not over the finish line with publishing YET (i get ye ol manuscript back from my editor next week, send thoughts and prayers) BUT i should be within the next 3-4 months. 😶😵
