ㅤthis is the continuation of byan's initial dbd verse, the version of it where their killing potential comes through.

ㅤrepeatedly being forced through trials, experiencing the pain and helplessness which surpasses that of anything they ever felt in their normal life on that same endless repeat has broken them. they've always been violent in nature, always had a slightly lower level of empathy than average, and always taken control of their life in their own way when it otherwise hasn't been an option — it seems inevitable that they would turn against the other survivors if it meant improving their own quality of life.

ㅤthe switch flipped mid-trial. the survivors were being picked off one by one by the killer and there was only one generator even close to being repaired. the odds of anyone escaping were rapidly decreasing until it was only them and one other survivor left. desperate to avoid experiencing a painful death again — not just in this trial but ever again — they grabbed the other, who had been trying to work out a plan of action with them, and shoved them to the ground. hands wrapped tightly around their neck, and byan simply strangled them until they stopped breathing. a few moments later, the trial ended and they didn't find themself returned to that campfire they'd come to so despise.

ㅤsince then, they have become the predator rather than the prey, tormenting the survivors they once worked with for survival.

ㅤas a killer... byan is both quick & strong and tends to be very brutal in their methods. they brute force things more than they strategize though, so if a survivor plays their cards right, they can be outsmarted relatively easily.

ㅤtheir weapons of choice are brightly coloured knives of varying types — butterfly, combat, switchblade; you name it, they have it. and they also have it in holo.

ㅤas much as they typically enjoy violence, it's usually fights that they enjoy over one-sided slaughters. while they start out enjoying themself in trials, it's mostly out of the catharsis of being the one in control and releasing their anger through brutality. over time, this starts to wane. they keep killing because it's better than being killed, but it slowly becomes more and more draining even as they grow more and more numb to it all.

ㅤeven so, they maintain their cocky, self-important attitude, keeping up an air of enjoyment, like that might overwrite the way they actually feel about everything.

steve and robin go to a gay club in indianapolis and steve cannot stop staring at this guy with long dark curls that’s wearing chains and a leather jacket (which steve thought was the opposite of his type but apparently not).

steve himself is wearing a croptop and high-waisted jeans that “make his ass look amazing” (according to robin) and he even let them put some sparkly shit on his face because why the fuck not at this point. he’s been covered in blood and monster guts, he can handle wearing makeup.

anyway, the point is steve knows he looks good. its not him bragging, it’s just a fact of life. the sky is blue, water is wet, and steve harrington is hot. that’s just how it is.

so when steve sees the hot guy across the room, he doesn’t doubt that they’ll think he looks good. it’s just… steve, despite being a notorious playboy, is actually fucking awful at flirting.

because of this, steve decides to simply pine from afar and mope while robin is having the time of their life (sometimes he really hates being the designated driver, but alas, he’s the only one that can actually drive).

robin, being the amazing and observant friend they are, immediately notices this and begins scheming. when steve looks away to ask the bartender for a coke (poor guy), robin meanders their way through the crowd and over to the guy steve was eyeing up.

they tap him on the shoulder and the guy turns around, cocking his head in question.

“hey, my friend over there thinks you’re hot but is terrible at flirting so i decided to be a good friend and wingman for him,” they yell over the music.

the guy blinks, looks from them to steve and back, before whipping his head around again to gape at steve. robin isn’t sure how to take that until the guy asks, incredulously,

“is that steve fucking harrington?”

robin panics because oh shit this guy knows steve which means they accidentally outed steve to some guy who apparently knows him?? (and who is still staring at him dumbstruck). robin squints their eyes suspiciously and replies

“…and what if it was?”

the guy snaps his attention back to robin and open and closes his mouth a few times before blurting out

“do you- does he not know who i am?”

now it’s robins turn to be confused because why the fuck would steve know this guy? the man obviously reads this in their expression because he drags a hand down his face before stating

“i’m eddie munson. the ‘freak’ of hawkins high? king steve’s number one rival?”

“don’t fucking call him that,” robin spits out venomously. they’ve had to help steve out of self-deprecating panic attacks too many times because of that fucking title and will not hesitate to punch this guy for using it.

“okay, jeez. but seriously, do neither of you recognize me? i don’t know if i should be offended or not,” eddie ponders aloud.

robin huffs and rolls their eyes. steve really knew how to pick ‘em (aka snarky and a bit cocky).

“whatever, he’s changed a lot- obviously- so if you’re not a dick then the offer still stands,” robin responds.

eddie looks over at steve again and sighs to himself. he never would’ve guessed he’d see steve fucking harrington in a croptop, let alone a gay bar, let alone interested in him.

and eddie was never one to waste an opportunity so…

“i’ve been into him since the moment i fucking saw him at hawkins high, there is no way i’m refusing that offer,” he replies.

robin laughs and pulls eddie through the crowd and towards steve. eddie kinda feels like he’s dreaming when steve looks over at him and blushes, pink splotches decorating his face.

She’s always been a bit on edge about wearing skirts and dresses and overly girly things just because she already gets enough flack about being a girl. Lewis always tells her she’s hot as fuck anyways. The media freaks out when they realize she’s got a belly button piercing and they begin to slut shame her, but one of the other girls in the paddock (maybe Max?) tells the media to fuck right off

Oh plss Logan normally wearing simple jeans and a team polo but Lewis always dresses so well and looks so good and it makes her want to experiment a little as well!

She wears a pretty sundress and strappy sandals to the next race (maybe holding Lewis's hand even because I feel like they wouldn't want to hide) and 100% they colour matched lol. Can I just say how much I’m LOVING  this extra depth we’re getting for Masaya?

this is just gonna be a mess of me blurbing out kneejerk reactions and random thoughts and definitely NOT a super deep analysis you have been warned lmao

Like a lot of people I wasn’t super fond of Masaya in the originals. I don’t recall HATING him, but I was indifferent at best and annoyed at worst. He was just so very boring to me and barely in the show until the Blue Knight started appearing, if memory serves. He didn’t really have much personality besides being a Nice Boy and caring for the environment (which is hilarious that that wasn’t enough for 13 year old me cuz like. I literally wanna be a wildlife biologist jskdfjsd). We didn’t really get to know much about him until late in the series. Any little drops of personality we DID get were given and then IMMEDIATELY never touched upon again and when compared to the time we were given with Everyone’s Favorite Croptop Disaster, Masaya just had nothing going for him in the personality department

The reboot so far imo is doing WONDERFULLY with remedying that and I’m enjoying it immensely

Like him being pissed and even tearing up about Ichigo still being in the zoo after they were told to evacuate? (my guess is he looked for her after evacuating and didn’t see her in the crowd, thus fearing that she was still in there). Chef’s kiss. Wonderful. Show us the emotions! Especially with how quickly he apologized afterwards! Definitely makes sense for someone making a sudden outburst like that. And if Masaya still has that “I felt like I HAD to be perfect at everything” backstory, it makes even more sense cuz someone who must be the Polite Golden Child constantly probably doesn’t raise their voice at people often

Also in episode 2 when he was checking in on Ichigo making sure she was okay (we’re gonna ignore the fact that he just. Seems completely unperturbed about passing out after being bodychecked by a Big Rat and waking up at home. Like gurl. Ur not gonna question that at all? Maybe we’ll get something about that later, but probably not XD) I LOVED how Masaya looked affected by taking Ichigo’s hand too! Ichigo wasn’t the only one getting a bit flustered, Masaya was a bit lost in the moment too! And after Ichigo yeets herself tf out of there Masaya looks at his hand like!! That’s right give me his reactions I’m loving it!!

I’m also digging that Masaya is Hesitant about Ichigo even! Like she DID admit that she didn’t know all that much about animals, but when inviting him to the zoo she said she wanted to learn more and proved as such while at the zoo, and it seemed like it resonated with him! I loved that!

Him admitting he was nervous about being separated from Ichigo again and just the general Anxiety he was exuding was fantastic. ESPECIALLY when Ichigo later asked in the cat cafe or w/e about him being nervous. And then they were all just staring into each other’s eyes and whatnot. Ichigo looked all blushy in typical shojo fashion, but Masaya is just. Idk he looks more like he’s staring intently, like he’s trying to figure something out. Like maybe if he SQUINTS REAL HARD while looking at her it’ll alllll become clear. It’s reading to me like a dude who’s like “I’ve literally never been interested in a single other human before and have 0 experience knowing what these emotions are or how to handle them wtFACK is it about you specifically” (which I’m so freaking giddy about cuz that’s an angle I’ve been dabbling with in the fic I’m trying to write I’m sldkfjlsdkJKSDJFS) And if that IS what’s going it just makes things even more interesting for understanding him later, if he HAS felt ostracized by the general human species and/or harbors some level of hatred for humans in general

Just. AH! I’m so excited and hoping we get to learn more about Masaya himself. I’m happy we’re getting more obvious tells that Masaya is having Emotions and is capable of being flustered with Ichigo like she is with him!

Also finally: ngl. Masaya won me over in a huge way when he explained to Ichigo about cats biting because of over-stimulation sdjfksdj. Like is anyone else also a crazy cat lady in training and that scene just stabbed straight through your heart or made you laugh?? cuz YEAH. YEAH THAT IS WHY SOME CATS RANDOMLY ATTACK YOU DURING PETS! OH MY GOSH I CAN’T EVEN SAY HOW MANY DOZENS OF PEOPLE I’VE HAD TO EXPLAIN THAT TOO. (AND JUST EXPLAINING CAT LANGUAGE IN GENERAL). And he even specified that most cats WILL communicate if they’re starting to feel rowdy, but it can be difficult for people to read sometimes, especially if you don’t know to even look for something. Like goddammit. They really made me start liking Masaya by making him understand feline body language. They fucking got me. I feel bamboozled, I’ve been had, who knew I was that easy 😩

Anyways on the off chance someone actually reads this, do y’all have any thoughts for Masaya? Anything that particularly jumped out at you these past few episodes? I’d love to hear what others think! :D

Collin’s a tender boi. I could see Hellborn Collin being convinced to for Mika’s sake to go to a little special spot in Heaven where all four of them could just… be.

A picnic for all four. Sunshine. Warm weather. Clouds rolling by. Grassy hills. Mika’s perfect time out. A lot of teachers left this year ever since our principal quit, and with good reason! He makes a lot of unneeded changes like making all students exit the back which makes things difficult since car riders and bus riders get mixed up and its hard to ger through when they let buses out first, also girls are not allowed to wear like croptops because they're too sexy? Like he sent out a voice message and he was just complaining and complaining about the girl's outfits?

your new principal sounds awful -- making everyone use one exit is a great way to make everything take way longer than it needs to, and why crowd everyone in one place to begin with? T^T that makes no sense...

gym :/

ive been gaining a lot of weight lately because i stopped going to the gym. i dont really know why i did that, i guess for starters it started with a week of really bad weather, so my friend and i decided we werent gonna walk there in a freaking snowstorm or something, (understandable), but then reasons not to go just started pouring in every week, and now its been months since i last went to the gym more than once every two weeks. ive also been eating incredibly unhealthy lately, probably because my mental health has been really shitty. ive only been able to eat super unhealthy stuff and ive overeaten alooooooot as well. all of this has led to me gaining weight, which is coming at the worst possible time because its almsot summer now and i want to be able to wear croptops and low-waisted pants confidently! so my conclusion is that i hace to start wokring out properly again when im not sick anymore, and i have to start eating a little healthier and overeating less. i can do all of that tho, i have faith in myself and i trust i will provide myself with the willpower to overcome all obstacles, i just have to stop being sick so that i can get started soon.

happy one year anniversary of me finally watching a music video from a group that ellie recommended me when i wanted to expand my kpop taste and decided to watch left and right by seventeen (who ellie was freaking out over bc it was their latest comeback) and fell in love with vernon who was in the literal first second of the music video and slipped into the diamond life where all i watched and listened to was seventeen to a point where 91 songs from my top 100 most listened songs in 2020 were seventeen songs. 

okay it’s been such an amazing year and i’m so happy to have these 13 boys in my life. and as much as i regret not stanning any time sooner, seventeen has truly been one of the most postive things that have happened to me during the pandemic. their music and the postitive messages that send to fans truly made an impact on me. i remember when i spent hours watching their content to learn their names, only for me to forget wonwoo (sorry kail). i remember how the dance mafia episode with dingo was the first variety show content i watched. i remember when i bought only one version heng:gære, but bought the rest bc i loved the endorphin rush i got unboxing the album. i remember watching the five year anniversary video, despite not memorizing all the members at this point, and being thoroughly confused. i remember watching a 30 minute compilation of svt laughing just to feel something. i remember ellie sending me a link so i can watch cabbage land (not carat land). i remember the first day of fall classes when the 24h mv dropped and i had a mental breakdown over croptop wonwoo. i remember my excitement for home;run since it was my first comeback as a carat. i remember wishing for a maknae line song and then not only getting that, but also all the age line songs (do re mi soty). i remember when vernon posted THAT 201023 twitter selfie absolutely unprovoked and i cried over the ft to my friends (who were clowning me.... as they should). i remember ringing in 2021 listening to kidult (also soty). i remember pulling vernon for the first time and i screamed in my apartment and then told everyone i knew. i remember the rough nights i spent listening to svt because they are in fact my comfort group. and i remember all the friends, old and new, that have blossomed over the past year.

to mo ( @httpsmingyu ) who became a carat after watching the same presentation as kaili (because she is a supportive gf) and going seventeen episodes. who i sometimes regret getting her into kpop because she has an even worse album buying addiction than i do. who just mailed me a bunch of her vernon pulls because of said addiction and even gave me beret!vernon from an ode. who gave me a presentation on loona so i could learn their names.
