shouldn't sousuke and kinjou have known each other before? kinjou was also a national level athlete, and didn't he used to swim butterfly before switching to free in college? he should have known sousuke when he was still active back in high school since they were competing in the same circles. probably idk

tbh in road to the world, when he's bullying Hiyori at the end, and Ikuya, Natsuya and Sousuke come to his rescue, Kinjou does say "... Yamazaki Sousuke from Tokitusu?" so Kinjou at least knows him. Ssk also says "that's trouble" referring to Kinjou, which does seem more like bc of the situation at hand and not bc he knows him previously, but it is a possibility. Bc even tho Ssk had such as one track mind about Rin, he was still very aware of competition and what was going on in the sports world. So I do assume they know each other.

idk why in fs2 Kinjou is like "you're yamazaki sousuke the butterfly swimmer right?" as if this is the first time they're having a conversation, but the RTTW convo was so in-passing and he was only thinking about Hiyori then so he's prob already forgotten about it

What did you think about the 10 minute Free! Final Stroke movie clip that Kyoani posted on their YT channel?!

Haha but I already knew everything almost scene by scene, bc I was taking info from different places so it won't be bias. I feel like I've basically seen it already xD Plus its not like much happened in these 10 minutes. But I already cried at every tiny easter egg, especially the beggining sequence of shots of scenery, did u get from where all of them?

As I've said I adore that they started it with everyone recording a message to Haru and how he affected their lives, also bc it reminds me of that drama when they recorded wishes for him (wink wink) and morning messages also lol

I love the "opening" with all the "steps of life", so simple yet so beautiful. Haru isn't in the shots tho hoho

Traditional beginning of Makoto getting Haru out of the pool and no chan is you know, we can't skip that, its how every season starts, even I'd feel upset without it. Although I'm just a bit afraid a certain part of the fandom would go crazy bc of the fact that they didn't bother to redraw it from 3x01 and it might just get into their usual you didnt even care to draw that one scene for my ship again. I mean, its already started.

I personally do not care tho, I needed it just for a tradition. Like with arson, covid and etc I don't think its important really.

I've been dying to see Rin and Ikuya's interactions like these since RTTW, so I just can't stop laughing. The most precious part of those 10 mins xD. Pls release the whole pics already, but the fact that we saw even a corner and the reactions is already priceless lmao

As for Kinjou, I just do not care. I wanted him to be something different and interesting and unexpected for free, not this lol. I just do not know whats the point in the last movie to add his and Hiyori flashbacks tbh, like I honestly don't think anyone cares, besides ppl who want maybe like 100 ships on free. Like we don't even know the dude, why should I care that they played in a sandbox once I do not know.

The only thing I hated is that Haru was upset af. I've been warned that he's only happy during the trip with Rin and Ikuya, but everyone was having fun on the festival and he's like.. well, s3 style. I know why and Kinjou also didn't help, but like still sad :(

hahaha hey, do not be greedy, I mean this movie as it is, was jokingly called Free!Harurin stroke, let others have a bit fun too xD

Rin and Ikuya scenes are just.. everything I've wanted + bts photos is just amazing content, can't wait for their trip lol

Hello @hiyori-tono-cafe, and no, I don’t mind at all XD It’s just rare for people to send messages like this to me, so it surprised me, for sure ;) Well, based on their one interaction, which they share at the end of RTTW... I am curious to see why Kaede is so angry towards Hiyori, taunting him the way he did. With the promise of Free! returning in 2021, I do hope we’ll get to see more interactions with them, along with some flashbacks to how they know each other. Especially since Kaede is a swimmer at pro level, whereas, Hiyori, to me, isn’t near his level, so it’s intriguing why Kaede would want to pick a fight with him.

I was rambling about Free! again and I mentioned how Brave Dream (the ending theme to RTTW) has like, lines from Splash Free!, the first ending, in it. And that that’s a really iconic theme in the anime community in my opinion, cause it’s easy to recognize and I think a lot of people that haven’t seen Free! but just like anime in general have probably heard Splash Free! or at least seen something like this image as a gif

and anyway when I sent the video to the confused one so she could see what I meant and she asked “are they strippers or rappers”

which raises the question

did people think this looked cool in 2013 or did it always look weird cause I’ve only been into this show since like 2016. I do love that theme but that scene’s always been dorky to me, which, you know, fits them.

Hello! So I have recently gotten back into Free after so many years, and I only ever watched seasons 1 and 2 (I haven't seen the movies either 😅). But now that I heard the saga is officially ending next year, I've been looking up rinharu on Tumblr and I'm blown away by all of the content I've missed out on!

I'm considering watching season 3, but I'm seeing that a lot of people did not like it. Do you know why that is? And also, as a fan of rinharu, do you recommend watching season 3, as well as the movies?

Hello! <3 Thank you so much, happy you like my posts <3 Yeah, true, so many things happened lol. Short answer is here, long answer, you have to check the whole free! dive to the future tag, bc its a lot of reasons haha.

But then again as much as most of us disliked it a lot, you don't have to worry about Rin and Haru characters being ruined there, they were great, and you can always watch ep 1,3 and from 9 to 12 or RTTW movie if you want to skip on parts no one wanted, but then again some liked it, rare ones but still, plus the whole Hiyori conflict plays a role into Haru's angst that led to well... the rh Final Stroke thingy, so it's for you to decide how to watch it selectively or not, bc you will not be able to get FS without it.. there's Albert and Kinjou introductions there, the whole Riyuji thing, it all plays a huge role in our storyline now.

Thank you for the m*nipulative post, I feel the word is throw way to much in fandom space free! too especially with Hiyori, Ikuya and Natsuya bc while they have flaws (and oh boy do the Kirishima have) I found all of them so interesting and they fascinated me so much! Bc they show the dissonance between intention and action/logic and emotion! Natsuya has good intention, but his actions or lack of bring the worst, Hiyori also had good intention but the lack of informations make him take the wrong course of actions, Ikuya mostly understand why the other quit the club and don’t hold to them vs his emotion of feeling left alone again create this apathy character. And I truly hope that they learn to communicate/deal with their emotions healthy (feel that Ikuya and Hiyori are started to take this path with rttw and the side stories: Hiyori giving Ikuya more space than we saw in the anime and Ikuya praise and being more invest in his relationship with Hiyori which is why I love HiyoIku bc it’s the story of two boys who learn to undo their wrong coping mechanisms and trauma together tho they definitely need a talk! With Natsuya too!) anyway sorry for the long ask, I just love the characters so much and they are not only angels or demons but complex (even if the Kirishima either make me want to give them the world and therapy, slap them (mostly Natsuya) or an headache sometime all the three at the same time, for Hiyori I just want him to be happy and have therapies)

Agree with all of this!! They're so complex and interesting!!! And yeah fandom loves to call Hiyori a//busive and it really drives me up the wall

You're right RTTW was a huge step forward with hiyoiku but i just wish they'd TALK about their past mistakes and how they effected each other (how i wish mh would talk about Makoto telling Haru to race him/Haru calling Makoto meddlesome). I know Free! isn't that kind of show, I just really wish it was
