"N-Nice kitties… sweet kitt— AH!" A huge paw swipes at the blond, causing him to stagger back. It was just like him to be in this mess. Go into the forest they said, it'll help clear your mind they said. Well his mind is certainly clear of everything but his fight or flight instinct. Kaveh was struggling with inspiration on a project. The theme was simple, the aforementioned rainforest. But nothing he came up with satisfied the client. So in an effort to appease them, the young man had decided to scout out some locations for a spark of inspiration.

Unfortunately for him, Kaveh didn't find that spark. What he found was a lovely hill top where he could see most of Sumeru's luscious rainforest. The unfortunate thing was that when he went to set up his camp, several Rishboland tigers had actually claimed it as their own. Evidently they had returned from an unsuccessful hunt. Kaveh deduced this by the way they were looking at him like a delicious meal.

His briefcase, Mehrak, was busy in sleep mode. The man forgot to charge him before leaving. Every single bad thing that could happen to someone, happened. "L-Listen here! I don't have any food and neither am I food!" He shouts, attempting to make himself larger than he was.

But the tigers can see through his lies. He was shaking as he stood, voice quivering with fear of them. Three in total kept backing him closer to the edge of the hill. Snarling and batting at the man.

Was this how it would all end? Dying to the king of the beasts? The young architect stood his ground, holding his briefcase like a makeshift shield. If he was going down, he'd like to attempt to fight them off. "Stand back! I'm warning you!"

"You have to make sure they're about the same size so they'll cook evenly," Tighnari hums, angling himself away from where he's chopping mushrooms for their stew so Collei can see them. "Mushrooms are pretty forgiving, though, so they don't need to be perfect. Potatoes are a little more finicky, too big and they'll stay raw in the middle." His lips curl into a frown at the thought.

"I like the taste of the mushrooms by themselves, but there are many different things you can add to change the flavor - or the uses." He hums, tipping the cutting board into the pot. "You could add some of the spices you use in pita pockets, for example. Or other vegetables or meats for additional nutrients." After giving the mushrooms a stir, he rummages for the notebook with his recipes.

"If you'd like, for your writing practice next week, I think we could work on recipes." He holds out the notebook, chin canted slightly. "We can make anything in here that sounds good, and you can copy the recipe down for yourself. We can also try other things, but you may need to give me a heads up so we can make sure to get any ingredients we might not have readily available."

He turns back to the fire, tending to the stew. "Would you like that?" Tighnari tries to give Collei space to think, to relieve the pressure of eyes on her should she wish to say no. It's no easy thing, certainly, but it's getting easier all the time. Pride swells in his chest, thinking about how far she's come since Cyno brought her to the forest.

Signe’s eyes widened in excitement, giving her a small smile and holding up a finger in a small gesture to wait. Collei was always a curious individual, but to be able to help her in her learning process was of great interest to her; she was sure Lisa would be just as happy to hear it.

“Wait right there, I have just the thing.”

She disappears behind the bookshelves, and not a sound is heard aside from a bit of shuffling here and there. But just a few moments later, Signe returns with a small armful of nature books filled with gentler vernacular than that which might be used by the Akademiya.

“Plenty of people in Mondstadt find it easier to understand things about the environment when it’s explained in smaller, easier to break down terms. You can borrow them if you’d like - just as long as they’re returned by the end of your trip.”

"i'm not too late, am i -!? um - ! amber, happy birthday! i made you a gift; my sewing skills aren't perfect, but i hope you can still use this..." collei hands the birthday girl a bag where she'll find a handmade hairbow! its shape is similar to the one amber usually wears, standing upright and reminiscent of bunny ears, but its color is a pale shade of purple, almost white. perhaps the most impressive part of it is collei's embroidery; gold and red swirls have been meticulously sewn into the fabric, and it's clear that collei must have spent a long time on it. "i... hope you like it!"

If anyone is late here, it's me for answering this late. Amber is staring daggers at me!

But anyway.

Tears are slowly forming in the eyes of the Outrider. Them shining within the beaming sunshine. It's such a thoughtful gift, that really came from the heart. The kind of gift that the Outrider would want to hold the gift to the top of Mondstadt cliffs, and show it all to the world to see. How amazing this gifts is to her.

"Colleiiii.....This is...."She sniffles. She's truly, and really touched by the whole gift. Which has resulted in the Outrider giving the other a big and warm hug!"Thank you so much!"

i'm glad you're here // god , it’s been hard . i know it has . it has hurt like hell and some days have felt like you’re pulling yourself through one second after another by your broken fingernails in the dirt . you’re tired . it’s a bone-deep kind of tired that settles in somewhere behind your ribcage and makes breathing feel like dying half the time and it never really seems to go away . but you’re still here . you’re beaten and bruised but you’re still kickin’ , trudging one foot in front of the other no matter how heavy those footsteps are . you decided at some point that , goddamn it , if this is rock bottom then things can only get better from here , and you decided to see better for yourself . and so you’ve been clinging onto yourself for dear life and it’s been the hardest thing you’ve ever done but you are one tough motherfucker and you’ve done it . and god , i’m glad you did . i’m so glad you’re here . i know sometimes it feels like no one appreciates how hard it is to just be here , but i do . i know . and it is absolutely amazing how far you’ve come and i’m so grateful you’ve made it . you are so important and your life is so beautiful and it would be such a shame for you to miss it . so keep on pulling forward . i promise it’s worth it .

When Paimon mentioned Gandharva Ville, Kaeya couldn't immediately place why it sounded so familiar. A village in Sumeru, he knew that much. As they approached, though, a familiar head of green hair bobs along. Ah. That's why.

"Well, hello there." He drawls, regarding Collei curiously, with a bit of distance between them. It feels like his brain is stalling out as he tries to recognize what he sees before him with the child in his memory. She's no longer hunched in on herself, standing up straight and carrying herself with an easy confidence. The nervous rambling and sheepish gestures give away how much her nerves and anxiety still reside in her, but it is miles past where she'd been before.

There's still a part of him he can't quite quiet that is itching to leave a hand on the hilt of his sword. Just in case.

"This... is where you stay?" Kaeya asks, glancing around. The atmosphere is nice - communal. And the shade from the trees is lovely. It's a nice place to heal, he thinks.

With lantern rite steadily approaching and mortals laboring in preparation, Xiao’s work also grows. Tonight has proven particularly intense as more and more shades rose from the depths they were banished to, many millennia ago. They continue to make themselves felt, even now as Xiao stands in the once more quiet marsh. His breath is labored as karma weaves through the air in thick, translucent wafts. This pain, familiar though it may be, hasn’t got any easier to bear.

It is when footsteps alert him to another’s presence that Xiao emerges from his haze. “ Stay away from me! ” he warns upon spying a mortal girl. “ My presence is dangerous to humans! ”
