Overwatch: Generational Design
Been a while?
Yeah. Life, y'know? Or some form of protomorphic resemblance to such.
So let's kick this off with a long one.
Gonna talk about Overwatch Heroes for a minute. This is a framework for broad traits and values that help serve Design in recognizing how iterations can progress into a new evolution-
Otherwise known as Generational Design.
Think of the heroes in Overwatch as builds; each build tries to accomplish something within the broad context of the game (Matches, Missions, Maps, Skins/Cosmetics, Animations, Lore, etc.), but also in the narrowed contextual categories as well (Ranks, MMR, Roles, Gamemodes, etc.) where specific connotation(s) have their own unique difficulties or-
A Hero can be loved overall in the broad context of the game- in Tracer's case- but as a DPS in the backline, she is going to make the lives of many Support heroes a living Time Loop of misery
Navigating this shift at the Design level is tricky (the mildest possible interpretation here), which is why it helps to have demarcations (points of reference that allow you to understand the context) while traversing that transition of scope between broad and narrow contexts.
As the game updates with new heroes, modes, cosmetics, and developers, the Builds shift to different levels of importance, with each new addition, acting as momentum- this momentum will eventually result in a rupture (Limit Break?) that results in a brand new demarcation or Generation of heroes and other additions, that follow new guidelines and structures in the Design...
...For better or worse.
Early Generations
The initial Generation (1st Gen.) heroes were just the original cast. There was no other iteration or builds to point at for comparison and, by and large, these builds served as a launch pad for a brand new set of types; type of game, type of experience, type of play, type of purpose, etc. etc.
Overwatch was, itself, a demarcation within the industry for a wide variety of precedents and direction. It's impact even now, nearly a decade later, can't be understated.
But those 1st Generation heroes had issues a plenty, many of which were made recently noticeable with the Classic series brought back in '24-'25.
1st Generation Heroes performed with a level of Potency, Versatility and Texture that was abstract, even downright absurd;
You might get tagged with a vaguely purple effect and barely know it, because within a quarter of a second, you're dead to the smallest amount of focus fire after the 50% Discord Orb takes effect, but hey! That lil' Omnic only has 150 health and no mobility, so just jump in there with 6 people and delete him even faster!
You might have Earth Shattered 5 enemies, wiped them out with a quick little Death Blossom, and celebrated with a spray, but forgot about the Angel lady AFK around a corner and now all the enemies are back in the fight and you're down 2 Ults, mid celebratory emote so that's fun!
That Bastion? He's stuck in a corner waiting for people to walk into his line of sight. Might as well not be participating right? Except your team keeps walking past his cubby hole and getting deleted b/c he has no cooldown on his turret form and can self heal anything you throw at him in the meantime!
Lots of bigs swings, limitations, and Try-Try-Again mood.
1st Gen. invited experimenting, with the broader context, by figuring out what you could use the narrow context to get away with. It allowed for a lot of weird dynamics, and concentrated force that, rewarded that experimentation without denying players access to those same solutions. This was the closest and most accurate description of a common refrain from players
"If everything is overpowered, nothing is overpowered"
Which, anywhere outside of an initial game's release, is complete nonsense, that only works based off ignorance. Once a game has been fleshed out by the playerbase, Overpowered becomes leverage for that same concentrated force or-
Dive as a strategy became so omnipresent after a year or so of Overwatch, that the fine art of deleting a single individual on the enemy team demanded too much from players outside of the top end of the game. The result was an introduction of one of the (arguably) worst Metas in the game's history in the form of launch Brigitte's release and the introduction of GOATs, which would inevitably lead the Development team down a road of no return, Design-wise
1st Gen. Heroes are often described as some of the "most fun Overwatch ever was", but a lot of those players are longing more for the co-ordination of concentrated force + high experimentation that allowed for interesting plays...and for errors to be made in earnest, rather than in derision.
1st Gen was also the only Generation, due to the lack of comparative examples, where History/Release date, was the defining trait for it's existence.
The demarcation for 2nd Gen Heroes would make a massive splash onto the scene and Design, with the Introduction of everyone's favourite Grandma...
2nd Generation or "Figuring out Fun"
Ana was the first new hero introduced to the game after the initial cast and brought with her an abundance...an Excess, even, of Design choices and options. Her entire kit was next to unheard of across other games and relatable mechanics and cemented Overwatch as a Design force that could not (easily) be replicated.
For some perspective; Design as a whole is heavily impacted by Precedent. New precedent in mechanics, effects, applications, are unknowns and can't be accurately predicted by Developers or Players. New precedent needs to be tested. A lot.
Ana's Biotic Grenade, just by itself, was the first instance of applied Burst Healing, AoE Burst Healing, Healing Amplification, and Anti-Healing in Overwatch.
A single ability with 4 separate precedents that would impact how Design for future heroes, hero reworks, balance adjustments, maps, and missions would be regarded?
It's little wonder the vast majority of 1st Gen. heroes would be upgraded to 2nd Gen. soon enough (Note: there are still a few left in the game, but only 2 are still considered relevant Design-wise and without constant reproach from the Playerbase).
Potency was the main driving force behind the majority of 1st Generation heroes (Big Swings, levelled out by limitations, and Try-Try-Again attitude), but 2nd Gen. was all about the Versatility; deciding who to target with Bio-nade, Sleep, or Biotic Rifle was entirely on the player. Where to position to maximize the sniper option, while sorting out being isolated vs. easier group up and LoS angles. The options were plentiful for an Ana, to the point that many players did not fully grasp what to do with her at first-
A Sniper that healed and could not headshot was a novel concept that went against decades of FPS' standard, but also proved why Overwatch was such a different game with much broader appeal.
It also showed that the design of the game was willing to take chances, with the reward being a unique perspective and character (Older women as a concept were relatively unheard of as Avatar's for players to actively play) that is thoroughly loved by many.
Ana would give rise to other 2nd Gen. heroes (and inspire reworks and re-designs for a variety of 1st Gen. heroes like Mercy, Symmetra, Roadhog, and Dva, into a 2nd Gen. state) such as Moira, Brig, Wrecking Ball, Sombra, and Ashe.
Regardless of how people felt about the gameplay of many of these newer heroes, the Design strongly leaned toward expanding much of the game's Versatility and just what you could accomplish playing them in those narrow contexts.
Does this mean Ana's release was an unmitigated success for Design? That 2nd Generation was the coming of the Golden Era?
In a word? OhGodPleaseNo
2nd Gen. started to run into problems with the broader context; the Designs that would release in 2nd Gen. inspired too much control in their existence, erasing many of the variances that went along with Maps, Missions, Cosmetics, and Lore.
Sombra's ARG basically took control over Lore for a few weeks/months, relegating many of the 1st Gen. heroes to a Lore-in-Limbo status that saw them barely get a scrap of a mention in any context.
Cosmetics meanwhile, leaned heavily away from those with less followings or dedicated fans and, instead, toward the more "popular" (Read: often times, controversial) heroes.
The introduction of Biotic Grenade also brought with it Anti-heal, which, as a concept, was so disruptive of the choices Design could follow, that it would lead to the future introduction of a variety of sustain mechanics that would be considered a worse direction for the game overall.
Roadhog went from a niche Tank pick that could work in isolated circumstances, to having his Take a Breather provide healing, damage reduction, and allowed him to Move, all while still doing incredible damage with a precise isolation displacement (Hook put you exactly where he wanted you to be, while also doing damage), all because Ana could so easily shut him down, demanding the Design Philosophy update him for the modern era...which also pushed him into the DPS-player favourite that, to this day, is the dominant perspective for his overall Design (whoops...).
2nd Gen. defined itself by Versatility, rewinding the clock on many 1st Gen. heroes while introducing narrow context as a "Run the show" dynamic that many players really enjoyed-
-unfortunately, as with many things, that would inevitably give way to a soul-crushing truth: Versatility breeds innovation and with innovation, dominance follows.
3rd Generation or the "Do Not Die" Era
If you'd asked me back in the day about 3rd Generation I would have probably said a few other options; Brig, Wrecking Ball, maybe even Doomfist were the markers for what would eventually become the starting point of 3rd Generation heroes-
-but I'd have been wrong. Largely in part because the actual start of this Generation, was not with a Hero as much as a conflux of circumstances, both old and new.
For the sake of a finger to point though? Orisa was the hero that would (eventually) define the 3rd Gen.-
-and that feels horrible to say, because of how many negative opinions the Overwatch Community has about this hero, but it did not start with her.
It started as exposure to a meta that, collectively, said the only thing that matters is the Broad Context and how you control it.
GOATs proved that, with enough abandonment of Design (the extended GOATs era was the early start of development for the 'Walk' phase of development that was meant to be PvE), Player knowledge extraction, and extreme concentration of forces?
You could ensure the enemy was never allowed to do anything to you ever again. Texture warped from limitations to prove innovation, into hard restrictions that disallowed any other form of play.
No plan, no strategy, no tactic, no composition, no skin, no lore bite, no nothing was ever going to dislodge 3 Tanks and 3 Supports from that objective. Nothing-...except maybe a mirror match but even then, it was just two unkillable objects throwing nukes at one another for minutes at a time without anyone dying.
That sustain? That value and execution of a composition would make it's way into the philosophy of the Design for the foreseeable future and become a mainstay that got inserted into individual hero Design right up to today.
Orisa's release saw the full on expansion of "Unkillable" but would not really make it into the Player defined dominance until GOATs showed up and persisted for as long as it did. When, eventually (inevitably) the Developers took action against it by implementing 2-2-2, the playerbase had caught onto "Just don't die" as a Design structure, opening the way for Orisa's presence to be felt and known.
3rd Generation was born the day Orisa (and, by extension, the Tank that would prove Overwatch 2's inevitability) came to the forefront of play; Do Not Die was narrowed down from a carefully executed composition, to a single four-legged, behorned bit of Omnic divinity with enough Damage Mitigation to put any other Tank pair combined, to shame.
Deny deny deny was the prevailing philosophy of 3rd Gen. and it showed through the hero releases (Baptiste, Wrecking Ball, Echo, Brig, New Mercy, New-New Symmetra, all had elements of this built into their fundamental designs; bricks in the road to present 3rd Gen.).
Orisa's Barrier, Halt, Fortify, and Super-charger weren't methods of playing the game, as much as they were individual buttons to press that the enemy now had to figure out (if they even could be figured out, as Bap's Immortality Field and Orisa's Fortify would call into doubt).
Most 3rd Gen. heroes went looking for easier to apply/activate denials that put much of the onus and responsibility onto the enemy, which largely contributed to player complaints of "Low Skill".
(Note: Design could have allowed for many of these mechanics to be tempered by further iteration, especially with different applications and activations, but at this point PvE was well and truly chugging along)
3rd Gen. heroes would/remain the standard for Modern Overwatch, especially as the game moved into Overwatch 2, but, as with all things Design, the evolution has come a long way within the Generational regard.
Orisa was the initial finger point moment to 3rd Gen., sure, but not the defining one overall, as both broad and narrow contexts would culminate together to ultimately define it.
We'd also get a major first look at what the future Generation of the game would eventually be; cutting edge, beyond the pale, ahead-of-his-god-damned-time, recognition that would ultimately obliterate any sense of Team-based experimentation?
In favour of the current Gen's all-consuming obsession:
Bloat.
4th Generation or "Thicc is an understatement"
Overwatch 2 is probably the biggest and most obvious demarcation for a brand new generation, and that is partially true; 3rd Generation heroes largely translated over into the format change (with considerable revisions and re-designs across the cast throughout Overwatch 2's current lifetime to update most into 3rd Gen. states), but Denial and Survival remain one of the core concepts of the game, thus making the sequel less of a demarcation and more of a fresh start.
3rd Gen. is still the dominant Generation for this game. That said-
Perhaps it's a testament to how quickly Design Philosophy was being picked up and left behind, or just a culmination of every design decision made up to that point. Nevertheless?
Sigma is the 4th Gen. prototype. Without question.
If Orisa was proof of 3rd Gen. concept, Sigma's release saw a hero so overkit'd, that any attempt to interact with him by anything other than a 3rd gen. (or beyond) hero would have been laughable or-
Attempting to interact with a Sigma during his release days meant having one part of your kit that might have done something, if he was out of a couple of cooldowns and the other Tank was busy with- oh wait no Orisa. It was Orisa. No you weren't getting anything done.
The hero brought about a level of kit supremacy that fit him right in with Overwatch 2 heroes, dubbed often as the first 5v5 appropriate Tank.
4th Generation Heroes are defined not just as cutting edge in their mechanics, but also lacking in exploitable weaknesses. It isn't just survival and existing for them, it's execution of a kit that guarantees a rapidly adjustable value that most other Kits in the game just Do Not Have An Answer For.
When a Tank comes equipped with Denial, CC, High Damage, Broad Coverage, Minimal downtime, Frontline/Off-angle potential, and Compositional Flexibility?
All other heroes in that Generation are bound to be nightmare fuel.
In the same vein that 3rd Gen. Design displaced Versatility with hard denial Texture limitation? 4th Gen. is attempting to overcompensate back into Potency, where it all started, via Bloat.
Sigma proved it was possible. Preferable, even, given Orisa and the Supports at the time, accrued all of the blame for the dread presence that was "Double Barrier" Meta, while he has largely remained unblamed in history.
And with Sigma as the prototype, Overwatch 2's hero releases would steadily iterate and build on 3rd Gen. designs, rapidly accelerating toward 4th Generation as a new standard.
Junkerqueen, Sojourn, and Kiriko all came forward with brutal effectiveness in their releases (with the first 2 receiving no small amount of nerfs to bring them, at least somewhat, back into a 3rd Gen. state), while the likes of Lifeweaver, Illari, Ramattra, and Mauga all maintaining the Deny to Exist canon that was 3rd gen...with some extra spice to ensure their Potency matched the modern day 5v5 format.
All the while Sigma kept comfortable pace with everyone without missing so much as a melodic hum.
You might be forgiven for thinking that's where it would stay. 3rd Generation frustrations of denial, were largely assimilated into the divisiveness that was the 5v5/6v6 debate, much of the Design Philosophy taking a backseat in favour of more immediate concerns (Monetization, Cosmetic availability, Content Creator opinions, Developer newness, and PvE fallout)-
-and then Venture came out.
A brand new DPS with major CC potential, extended invulnerability, hard burst damage, and a terrifying level of backline savagery. 4th Gen. would make itself known in their Design. Once again, modern concerns outside of Design, allowed for them to emerge into the Cast with relatively little impact (Missing Cosmetics are still the main concern for much of the playerbase, to this day)-
-but they were just clearing the obstacles for the inevitable.
Juno's release was hailed as a fresh new presence in Hero Design; dynamic and chock full of value from multiple angles, her playstyle was herald to a new stage of "Fair and Balanced" from much of the playerbase, which, many of the Developers, took as a great sign-
-only to be a dominant presence at the highest ends, that got little pushback from other areas, because she was such a friendly presence in the broad contexts of the game or-
The Playerbase can be entirely forgiving of Design Escalation, if the cosmetic potential, lore, and Bloat all match-up in abundance
Juno isn't an overkit'd Hero by modern Overwatch 2 standards. Absolutely not for 5v5 as a format which is where she and most of the other releases belong. It's one of the major saving graces of the Format.
But it is very difficult not to notice the creeping signs and directions of the game when Venture/Juno are back to back releases.
When you consider just how "upgraded" heroes like Pharah, Roadhog, Doomfist, and Orisa all became with Overwatch 2's progressing Design choices.
And how utterly frightening all this is, in context, with what would reveal itself to be as definitive proof that Generational Design did not end with the sequel's release.
5th Generation? "Wait and See"
Dear Fuckin' God.
If Sigma was the prototype for what Overwatch 2 was going to be?
Hazard is proof there's always more to add.
More mechanics. More effects. More abilities. More inputs. Just...more.
Dominant from release with no discernable counters, even at the gameplay level (especially at the gameplay level), Hazard represents a "Sandbox" philosophy of design that clearly states the future is unlimited.
Broad/Narrow context have never mattered less than with Hazard's release, which single-handedly re-defines every measurable component of the game from Cosmetics, to Map navigation, and on into Lore.
Potency, Versatility, and as minimal Texture as possible, if there is ever going to be a 5th Generation hero era, it will be proven by Hazard's presence.
Sigma's capacity for rapidly shifting value that is difficult to find an answer for, is measurable in Hazard, just in the use of his Jagged Wall; an ability that has persistent knockback, Collision, anti-mobility, unrestricted environmental deployment, persistent burst damage, Tank-level Health, and Offensive/Defensive utility or-
A single ability in Hazard's kit, achieves multiple effects throughout Sigma's entire kit-
-Bloat
Where does it all go from here?
So where does that leave us?
What specific earmark will define the 5th Generation, remains to be seen, but with the addition of Perks as a strong new "Tier of Gameplay Variance", Clash and Flashpoint as flawed gimme Missions that players will consistently struggle with, and New Collabs and Gamemodes from season to season? The possibilities have expanded well beyond traditional Overwatch Design.
Even Freya's most recent playtest, suggests her presence as a 4th Generation hero is all but guaranteed, identifying 4th Gen as the new staple going forward.
Context is no longer a requirement. Lore is an isolated component specific to those who care about it. Loot boxes return gambling values to the foundation of cosmetics, and balance can now be relegated to easily adjusted power-ups only available after you gain enough in-match XP.
New Dawn. New Day. New (types) of Generation.
The Future seems more like "Revolving Door Design", rather than any sort of stable ground to plan on. Still, the playerbase is receptive and responding strongly, so maybe it isn't about stable ground anymore?
Marvel Rivals has proven Overwatch's response; that the team wants to prioritize innovation.
And maybe that is the future.

claim shares from iepf

How to claim TCS Dividends and shares from IEPF?
How would you feel if you got a 2000/- from a cupboard that you never expected?
Very happy & excited claim shares from iepf.
Now imagine if you get 1cr, which you were never expecting.
Following our agreement, we are bound not to reveal the actual identity of our clients; therefore, I will refrain from disclosing the actual names.
In 2005, our client's father acquired 500 shares of TCS at 342.27, totalling an investment of Rs 171135.
A. TCS announced a Bonus on 28th July 2006 in 1:1.
The number of shares after the split went to 1000
B. Bonus on 16th July 2009 in 1:1
So, the number of shares after the split went to 2000
C. Again, bonus on 31st May 2018 in 1:1
So after this split number of shares went up to 4000
In the year 2022, when the client approached us, the market price for TCS shares was approximately Rs 3050.
The Total Value of Investment in the year 2022 was Rs. 1.22 Crores.
Why had their shares gone to IEPF?
They had changed residence during this course of years. Also, the client's father had passed away. The son was completely unaware of this investment.
According to government regulations, if dividends on shares remain unclaimed for seven or more consecutive years, the company must transfer them to the Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF).
Before, when investors didn't collect their dividends, companies often kept the money without informing them.
To fix this issue, the government introduced the IEPF. It mandates that companies transfer unclaimed dividends, which have been neglected for seven consecutive years, to a fund for investor protection.

The client initially inquired about his father's Havells investment. During the conversation, our CEO, Mr. Vinny, delved deeper to learn more about the client's family background and investment practices. After obtaining some basic information, Mr. Vinny encouraged the client to provide a family tree and additional details. Following this, our research team initiated an investigation, ultimately leading to the TCS investment's discovery Duplicate share certificate.
What is the procedure for claiming TCS unclaimed shares and dividends from IEPF authority?
To make an IEPF claim, you can follow the steps given below:
1. Access the IEPF-5 form on the MCA portal via the IEPF website, and refer to the instruction kit for guidance.
2. Upon submission of the form, an acknowledgement will be generated with a unique "Submit Request Number" (SRN) that should be noted for tracking purposes.
3. Please print out the form and bring along the issued acknowledgement when needed.
4. Please submit the original copy of the indemnity bond, a copy of the acknowledgement, a share certificate, and IEPF Form 5. Along with these, please include a self-attested Aadhaar card, details of the bank account linked with your Aadhaar card in which the claim is to be received, and your demat account number. The envelope should be marked as "Claim for refund from IEPF Authority" and sent to the company's Nodal Officer (IEPF) at its registered office.
5. After submitting the claim form, it will be verified by the company's Nodal officer. Once the verification is complete, the officer will forward the form to the IEPF authority. Based on the verification report, the IEPF authority will refund any unclaimed shares and dividends to the client's account.
6. IEPF authorities must respond to the company's verification report within 60 days.
Refunds from IEPF can take 8-24 months and are complex.
Due to the complexity involved, many people tend to quit midway through the exercise. We are a team of professionals, including Company Secretaries and Lawyers, who have successfully recovered 100 Crores.
How can one check whether their TCS shares have been transferred to the IEPF?

You can search using details such as name, folio number, client ID, DP-ID, account number, or father's name on the Ministry of Corporate Website iepf.
We have noticed at times that this portal doesn't provide accurate information. Under such circumstances, the best action is to contact the company's registrar.

hey sci a newbie to this whole nate and deadpool being a thing. could i request some insight on it from you (from the comics and in general and maybe your opinion?) and how that panned out into the 9319 boys? i do remember the post about peter asking about dp’s relationship with cable and i remember it felt like i was missing out on a lot
wade and nate have history! that’s the best way to really put it - they go way. way back. in fact, deadpool is so tied to cable that deadpool’s very first outing was to try and kill cable (which wade has been doing, on and off-again, regularly, since then)
whenever i bring up nate i always get hate, but fact is. wade and nate are in soulmate territory for me. if there are any two characters in marvel who occupy soulmate territory, it’s cable and deadpool. marvel aren’t even subtle.
(on a little tangent here: everyone should read deadpool vs xforce (2015), literally the sexiest deadpool has ever been. prime condition. specimen. doesnt get much better than this)
cable and deadpool had a team-up series that ran in the 2000s, and it truly is my favourite book from marvel. it ran for 50 issues and it’s a total delight (and is wade at his prime. c/dp wade will always be the example i follow when I’m writing wade. himbo rights.)
while in-canon nothing’s... explicitly confirmed on terms of whether nathan and wade had a sexual relationship (they absolutely did.) this, this is canon.
wade spends a few issues in sexual crisis. it’s fine. it’s valid. i love him.
nathan, nathan definitely loves wade back. i think he kind of sees wade as a bit of a project - he wants the best for wade, but is absolutely clueless on how to bring the best out in wade. so he goes about it all wrong.
hm. kinky.
on terms of how it bleeds into 9319, the cable and deadpool series is canon to 9319 - in fact, it’s the springboard for it. it’s recommended reading as a prelude to @ask-spiderpool ! wade and peter’s first meeting is c/dp #24, and it’s right in the middle of wade and nathan’s relationship.
9319 nate and wade were on-again off-again, kind of a “whenever you’re in town and time-period” kind of deal.
they were never “steady”, it was always something loose - which wade was into at first, but – wade’s needy. he acts like he’s not. like he’s fine and casual, but really, all he wants is someone to be there. he needs someone to be there.
nathan’s just so busy being the saviour of the world or whatever to really be there for wade when wade needs him most.
wade loves so much. and he needs to be loved back. he needed so much more from nate.
i think the parallels between peter and nathan is what makes wade more reluctant to put his heart on the line with peter than he has with previous lovers. i mean, it’s not just nathan, really. wade’s unlucky in love. love just never works out for him. at a certain point he’ll start believing he simply doesn’t deserve it.
a lot of parallels! a lot of parallels!
the particular sore spot that makes wade hesitate pursuing peter is the whole having to share him with the rest of the world. like he’s always going to be second. he’s never going to be first. fuck that. fuck uncle fucking ben. he’s so fucking done with these fucking hero types and their self sacrificial bullshit.
he overcomes this.
(just an fyi to make you sad. in c/dp nathan dies. same self-sacrificial bullshit. this happens in 9319 too. it all works out because i mean, cable is cable, but still.)
wade + nathan: i love you, bitch. i ain’t ever gonna stop loving you, bitch.
i like the idea of wade and nathan being soulmates that just, aren’t good for each other. or, they’re good for each other, but just not now. or - just. i don’t know. they love each other, but. nathan can’t be what wade needs, and that’s okay.

Lingue Senza Frontiere - A Guide
When I first auditioned to work with this company, there was little information on the roles and responsibilities, or even what to expect and bring. So, I have decided to make a post based off of my experience to help guide those who are considering working for this company.
For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, Lingue Senza Frontiere (or LSF as I will call them from now on) are an Italian Educational Theatre Company that gets groups of actors to tour the north of Italy. The actors perform a variety of plays to a variety of schools as well as running workshops after shows. They also run summer camps. If you want to check them out, I’ll link their website but it is in Italian so you might wanna get google translate on it:- https://www.linguesenzafrontiere.com/
Tip 1:- Check your journey price and time frame LSF offer 100 euros for your first travel over to Italy. They will not pay you for any other trips in and out of the country you may make during your contract with them. So look at how much it’s going to cost you to get from where you live to the Sanremo station in Italy, as that is where the company picks you up to take you to the accommodation. The nearest airport is Nice and there’s normally buses and trains that can take you from there. But also be aware of how long the journey will take. There may not be a direct flight from your local airport to the Nice airport, or your arrival time may not work out for getting a train to Sanremo. The company will want you to be at Sanremo station by 6pm European Time at the latest, since they close their office at 6pm and might not offer to collect you should you need to arrive later than that. But also think about your own health in the journey. You don’t want to be taking two planes, a train and a bus all in one day just so you don’t have to pay to sleep overnight somewhere. Consider what’s going to be the best route, work out the cost including luggage and if it comes to over 100 euros see if you can speak with LSF about covering the extra charges so you can meet their required arrival time.
Tip 2:- Don’t over pack So you’re going to another country for possibly 8 months without returning home. You’re not sure what weather you could be facing, so you should probably bring a lot of stuff, right? Wrong. You’re only staying in Sanremo during your rehearsal period so when you go off to act you need to fit your suitcase, as well as the suitcases of the other actors and all of the props and costumes for the shows into a Peugeot car, maybe a small Peugeot van at best. You won’t have time to wear your beautiful summer clothes or fashionable winter jeans. Pack black trousers, leggings and jeans. You have to wear black for the shows, so make sure you have a few pairs in case any get damaged during performances. It does get cold at winter and we all heard how hot Europe was this summer so yeah make sure you have a variety, just a variety of black, with a few bits for weekends and potential evening meals out. Maybe pack one of them thingies for checking the weight of your case for your journey back. There are launderettes at both flats, both of which don’t require washing powder. And as someone who uses non-bio washing powder, I never had an issue with itchy clothes.
Tip 3:- Take a rucksack and a microwaveable food box Speaking of keeping things light, take a rucksack. After you move from Sanremo, you settle in a flat in Capriate San Gervasio where you’ll spend most of your weekends. You can leave your suitcase there. Most of your accommodation during the week will be in hotels, flats and airbnb’s. Not all of them will have lifts. Not all of them will have cooking facilities. Trust me, you don’t want to be lugging an entire suitcase into a hotel you are staying in for one night. Take a rucksack with a weeks worth of essential clothes and toiletries. Make yourself some pasta for lunch and store it for the car journey.
Tip 4:- Bring an Italian adaptor Yeah, that title’s right. Not a European adaptor, an Italian adaptor. One with three, thin prongs rather than the two fat ones European adaptors have. Both company accommodations only use Italian adaptors and most flats also use the same plug system. Here’s one for reference:- https://www.amazon.co.uk/ADAPTOO-ADV-12-ADAPTOR-UK-ITALY/dp/B002YKNTUM/ref=asc_df_B002YKNTUM/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=311075391090&hvpos=1o8&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13891911048839537870&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006679&hvtargid=pla-562449714173&psc=1
Tip 5:- Learn some basic Italian LSF will tell you that you don’t need to know Italian to do your job. They’re lying. Not only does most of the accommodation not understand basic English (which, let’s face it some little town that never gets tourists aren’t going to bother learning a language they’ll never use in day-to-day life) but sometimes the teachers who had requested the performance didn’t understand English. Part of the job is calling accommodation to confirm the time you will arrive, and calling the teachers to confirm what they’ve paid for. So here’s a bit of Italian that will save your skin:- Ciao, siamo LSF. Abbiamo una prenotazione/ un spettacolo con te domani. Posso parlare Inglese? This means:- Hello, we are LSF. We have a reservation/ a show with you tomorrow. Can I speak English? A good way to learn is through Duolingo, though you’re bound to pick up things the longer you’re in the country and practising the language.
Tip 6:- Learn the scripts and songs before you arrive You have two weeks to block out and rehearse like, 5 plays as well as learn how to run the workshops and practice driving. You don’t want to shove learning lines and songs on top of that too. Though be prepared for the company to add in audience interaction into the script.
Tip 7:- Make sure to read the contract in detail before signing The company will try to guilt you into doing more for the company, such as working over the weekend to learn new workshop styles. They will state that it is in the contract for you to do these things. Whilst this is kind of true, sometimes the company will try to spring things on you last minute such as last minute bookings. Make sure to communicate your concerns with the company about any issues that may rise with their expectations from you in the role.
Tip 8:- Have a phone plan that provides lots of data The company provides a WiFi router for the Capriate flat, but it only has 30G of data per month for the 10 people who are living in the flat. That’s 3G of data per month per person. Plus the SatNav the company provides tends to take you down narrow roads and dead ends so it is always good to make sure you can use your own google maps to look for a safer route.
Tip 9:- Look after the company car and your locations The company will provide you with a car to get from place to place, as well as funds for petrol and emergency funds for washing costumes, cleaning facilities for flats etc. The company base your potential bonus at the end of the contract on the maintenance of the car and the flats. If you receive a speeding ticket, it is taken off of your bonus. Even if you weren’t the one driving, as the company states that everyone in the group is responsible for the car regardless of if they drive or not. If you do damage the car, make sure to contact the company immediately to ask them what to do. Little scratches and bumps are inevitable but communication is key when making sure you are covered for any damage caused. The same with the flats. If you do not recycle your waste correctly, the flat could be fined. If the flat is unclean or the toilets and drains become blocked, the company may need to pay for these fixing and thus your bonus deducting for said fixes.
Tip 10:- Make the most of your free time Be aware of how long it will take you to journey from one accommodation to the next. Ask the accommodation owners when the earliest and latest times are to arrive. Look at how many shows you will be performing and take time to enjoy your surroundings. If you are performing near to Verona and you have 3 hours free before you need to leave, take some time to go and sight-see. Italy is a beautiful country and there’s lots to experience. So enjoy the time you have out there. Treat yourself to a Michelin star restaurant. Stuff your face at an all-you-can-eat Chinese. Experience the towns people pay hundreds of pounds to visit for a weekend and you get to see simply by performing to a school nearby. Visit the neighbour at the Capriate flat and learn to play a card game in Italian.
In conclusion, working for LSF was an experience I was proud to obtain. Sure, sometimes the other actors drove me a little crazy. But that is inevitable when you’re basically spending 24/7 with the same people. Sharing rooms and sometimes even beds wasn’t exactly what I expected but it wasn’t too bad. Most stuff you learn as you go, growing stronger with each new challenge the role brings your way. You’ll learn how to be smart with both the company’s money and your own money. You’ll learn when and where the best place to wash and dry your clothes is. You’ll learn to balance your work relationship with your friendships with your fellow actors, and when sometimes you just need a few minutes to yourself. You’ll learn to balance the company’s duties amongst the group and work together to bring joy to the children you perform to.
If you have any more questions about what to expect, don’t be afraid to ask the company, or even ask me.

I didn’t get to answer all of the Tallia and Theron questions I wanted to so I’m gonna cheat and just answer them here BECAUSE I WANT TO. I never talk about them but they’re cute and I love the disaster bi masquerading as functional dating the functional ace desperately trying to keep up a distinguished facade.
1. Who is the most affectionate?
I think they each are, in their own way? I mean, like.... everything I’ve described before this and after is them being affectionate in their own way? I don’t really know what else to say about it unprompted. I guess if you’re talking classical physical PDA, maybe Tallia? If your’e talking taking care of the other one and looking after them and cheering them up and trying to make them feel good or better, then... both of them?
3. Most common argument?
The endless argument on how many pets are considered to be too many and whether or not they should just retire and open a zoo
Arguing which animals could stay with them and which had to go to the zoo they opened and how big does an animal have to be before we legally have to stop calling it a pet
“A KELL DRAGON IS NOT A PET.”
“YES SHE IS BECAUSE I LOVE HER.”
The struggle of earning rights for Warbles, mainly the right for him and his swarm of babies to sleep on the bed
The inevitable and spirited debate of how MANY lizards could sleep on the bed with them at any given point
“SEVEN LIZARDS IS TOO MANY LIZARDS TO LET SLEEP ON THE BED AT ONCE.”
“BUT THEY’LL GET COLD AND LONELY IF WE LEAVE SOME OF THEM OFF :((( “
T H E H A I R C U T
4. Favorite non-sexual activity?
They really don’t share any hobbies but MAN do they just.... shoot the shit a lot. Tallia will be dropping stitches in her latest attempt to learn space knitting, Theron will be scamming people in online pazaak out of boredom and they’ll both be talking to each other about “When and why do you think it became evolutionary advantageous for monkey lizards to laugh like that and is it immoral to Just Kill Them All??”
5. Who is most likely to carry the other?
Tallia’s not very big but she can literally toss him around with her mind and also has a lot of core/back/thigh strength so she can and probably does carry him just for funzees. Theron can carry her, probably, he just tends not to because I don’t think Tallia would appreciate being manhandled. Unless of course Tallia got herself stabbed again (she gets stabbed a lot.... marauder problems, I guess) which is more just her leaning her weight on him than actually carrying. He probably wouldn’t have to carry her unless she was knocked the fuck out... which does tend to happen. And Tallia would of course carry him if he got injured.... shit which also happens a lot. God, this is why dps shouldn’t marry other dps. This is basically them:

7. What’s the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other?
Other than getting bummed the fuck out (Tallia) and probably having a mild panic attack (Theron) they definitely get a lot less guarded with one another. They’ve both got kind of a lot of layers to them so it wasn’t like, complete vulnerability right off the bat but Tallia let Theron start seeing the more compassionate side of her, Theron let Tallia see some of the more uncertain side of him.
8. Nicknames? & if so, how did they originate?
They’re not big on nicknames, and since Tallia is a nickname for Eschatallia, technically, that’s all they really have. Theron tried to call her “Esch” exactly one time just to see if it could be their thing but the horrified look she gave him while just slowly shaking her head ‘No,’ was all he needed to know that it was A Bad One. Tallia found out about “Technoplague” after Theron hears she also had a run-in with the Shroud and uses it when she wants to win an argument, aka, this is how we wound up with seven lizards asleep on the bed with them.
10. Who remembers what the other one always orders at a restaurant?
They don’t get to go out that often but if it’s just something from the cantina, Tallia remembers what Theron orders because he’s a bit more a creature of habit and has kind of bland taste buds (modest Jedi upbringing, remember?) but Tallia usually tries to order something different every time unless there’s something she’s just absolutely craving (Vette opened her eyes to MANY new cultures of food from her transient years). So Theron can thankfully usually just point at something he’s pretty sure Tallia’s never had or whatever special they have that week from a new shipment and she’ll be happy with it, he knows she likes savory stuff with lots of spices.
11. Who tops?
Honestly I think they’re both switches? Tallia’s more dom/top leaning and Theron more sub/bottom but it’s not strict, it’s more circumstantial/depending on who’s feeling what that day.
12. Who initiates kisses?
Depends, tbh? It’s probably 50/50?
13. Who reaches for the other’s hand first?
Theron. Tallia’s more a “cuddler” in the sense that cats understand the term with like, “I’m just gonna lean my entire body weight on you for a while, if you wanna wrap an arm around me that’s cool but mostly I just wanna be a pancake and you can be the grill.” Theron’s definitely a “hold hands under the table” kind of PDA fan though.
14. Who kisses the hardest?
Tallia, definitely. Sith. Passion. It’s a thing.
19. Who tells their family/friends about their relationship first?
Friends goes to Tallia, Vette immediately knew because she Knows Tallia and can read her like a book and oh man of course Tallia had a crush on the ENEMY SPY, she’s combined her worst habits, terrible taste in dates and a death wish! Then Jaesa found out approximately 5 minutes later when Vette went running to her to tell her about it.
Family unfortunately went to Theron who eventually had to tell Jace about Tallia (like.... 4 years after the fact, but he told him all the same) when he went to go help start up the Alliance. It... did not go over well. I don’t think Satele ever heard from Theron herself that he and Tallia were a thing but probably figured it out because force sensitive, same as Echidna whom Tallia also never told.
Man, these guys are bad at actually telling their family/friends anything... they probably haven’t even announced their engagement? Does anyone actually know for sure that Theron is Rowan’s father or do they just think the Commander must really trust him to let him walk around with her child in a papoose like that all day?
God when they do get married they’re gonna invite like maybe 3 people, hand out earplugs, and exchange their vows by handing them over on paper for the other to read and then instructing them to eat the paper once it’s been read so no one will ever know except them.
21. Who is more likely to start dancing with the other?
Oh, Tallia, for sure. For Theron to dance of his own volition, he needs to already be too drunk to dance and it usually ends poorly. They don’t really dance that often because Tallia doesn’t want to make him uncomfortable but she can goad him into it sometimes.
22. Who cooks more/who is better at cooking?
Uhhh, the droid.
...
I’m not kidding.
Theron “Caf is a meal” Shan and Eschatallia “Just Put The Heat On Maximum So It Cooks Faster” Soranus are terrible cooks and should not be allowed to OWN a kitchen, much less set foot in one.
24. Who whispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear during inappropriate times?
Mostly Tallia probably? They’re not TERRIBLE about this because they are fairly private people and both take their jobs pretty seriously but I can see either of them watching and waiting until no one’s paying attention to lean over to the other one to whisper sexy nothings. If they’re just out at some function neither of them wants to be at, tho, you can guarantee this happens. You know the party crashing chapter on Zakuul? Yeah, Tallia kept forgetting that Lana was patched into their comms. She paid for a vacation for Lana after that mission.
25. Who needs more assurance?
Both of them, god. Look at their fucked up families and all the emotional neglect and outright abuse inflicted on them as wee lil nubbins that permanently scarred their psyches.
Tallia’s got a multi-layered personality, the outermost layer being the “I Am Your Nightmare, Grr” facade, the layer under that being “Oh no, I’m soft, please be nice to me,” and the layer under THAT which is “I’m feral and scared and full of hate.” So she’s worried that Theron fell for Personality Layer number 2 and will one day realize how pervasive and overbearing the deep layer 3 personality is and will be disgusted after realizing she’s a living horror of the dark side and he can’t love that because how could he? No one could.
Theron, however, is an amalgamation of abandonment issues wearing the skin of a man and is worried that something will go wrong, someday Tallia’s gonna realize he’s not that interesting, or funny, or kind, or something, anything. She’ll find him lacking, he won’t be enough somewhere in someway that she’ll realize she doesn’t need him at all and will cast him aside because everyone else has, why not her?
28. What do they do when they’re away from each other?
Well both of them have a criminal twi’lek bff so they can hang out with them and get into trouble, Theron’s always got a huge backlog of work he should be doing, Aerasuni likes to visit them both and hang out (she spars with Tallia and has tea and pleasant conversation LIKE A NORMAL PERSON with Theron), Jaesa’s back now and she’s trying to help Tallia figure out why she’s so bad at knitting, Koth is deeply worried about both of their eating habbits and keeps dragging one of them off to lunch without warning, Warbles always needs to go on walkies, Pargal drops by and likes to hand Theron his ass on a dejarik board, and now there’s like, A BABY who needs to be taken care of and nurtured so they’re not lacking for things to do out of necessity or for fun when the other’s busy. They’ve got surprisingly healthy social lives.
29. one headcanon about this OTP that breaks your heart
Cross-faction ANGST and their deepest insecurities making it take so fucking long for them to just be honest and open with each other despite their emotional investment in one another being obvious.
30. one headcanon about this OTP that mends it
They’re both desperately lonely people who come from deeply fucked up families/upbringings and have been forsaken by the people who were supposed to look out for them but they found each other and made their own dumb little family with all of their friends and now their surprisingly well adjusted child and it was hard but their earned their happy ending goddamit.

4, 6, 20, 24 for anime asks~
FINALLY GETTING TO THESE. SO SORRY. BUT I GOT U. DW. I’LL GET TO ALL ASKS ONE DAY.
I say, continuing to reblog ask memes.
ANYWAY. (Just saying, I’m gonna stop using my Yuu rp icons to answer these asks, because I’m going to use them for my Yuu blog from now on. I’m so sorry, hng.)
Anime Asks cause Why Not
4. Least favourite anime character
*HISS* You gotta start with the haRDEST O N E, H UH??
… That really F U C K ING annoying apocalypse lady from Guilty Crown. DIE.
6. Popular anime you didn’t like
eHHHH, you know this already, but for some reason, despite the fact I love superhero stuff, I didn’t like One Punch Man.
Not sure why, I don’t think I liked the style, and I found the first three episodes boring.
However, I’d totally be game to try watching it again. You did tell me it does get better, after all!
20. Least favourite anime ships
Are you tRYI NG TO. GET. ME. FLAMED?!
Okay, um… I’m going to be brutally honest, here. There’s no other way to do it, I suppose.
There are a few I can think of off the top of my head: my least favourites are MikaYuu, RinHaru, LawLight, and… EreMika (I was going to mention a DP ship but then realised this is anime asks). Yeah. I don’t like any of those.
Seeing MikaYuu on my dashboard makes me immediately scroll past it and I don’t know how to blacklist so I have to see it often bc I’m following the Yuu tag. I know. Stupid idea. I’m a jerk. Probably, yeah. But I don’t think I should have to worry about seeing the same ship all the time when I’m not even looking for it and one of the characters in it happens to be my favourite. I’m sorry to say I unfollowed a lot of OnS blogs because of this issue.
I just don’t like seeing it, and that’s okay.
MikaYuu as a whole is so bad with this. Like, yeah, I get it, you all love them together, but some people don’t, and having to see MikaYuu as the first result every time I search for Yuu on his own is getting really annoying and I usually have to fight to roll my eyes.
Not because I’m homophobic or I think nobody should ship it (because if I said that I’d get flamed like no tomorrow) - it’s just… Getting old, seeing it all the time, as if it’s the only thing that’s credible in the OnS fandom. And yes, it’s okay to have content for a ship, and yes, it’s okay to ship it, it’s just really misleading when I search for OnS and nearly all I get is that ship and hardly much else. There are other characters and other plot points, too. I understand that now the fandom doesn’t do it as much, and mostly posts about chapters in general, if that, but it’s definitely left a lasting scar on Tumblr’s and the internet in general’s tags in that it’s the same everywhere I search for Yuu. Heck, I even used to ship MikaYuu, but now I don’t, and again, that’s okay. Thank you for coming to my tedtalk.
24. Popular character you hate
STOP IT.
Y U GOTTA BE SO NEG AT IVE.
“Hate” is reallyyy a strong word… I gotta think carefully about this one.
Mikasa Ackerman. I’m sorry. I just. hng. no.
To make it even worse, I used to hate Levi more. Now, I don’t mind him as much. He be an ok guy.
To make it e vEN WORSE, I also used to hate Mika from OnS. I used to be pretty petty and stuff. Haha. I don’t anymore, though. I respect him now, but I don’t like him. That isn’t the reason why I don’t like MikaYuu though, there’s a couple of different reasons for that. I don’t think I’ll go into the why of either of those, however, as much as I would like to.
There ya go. U had to be so negative. I’m ready for those death threats. People know the “real me”, now.
Thank you so much for the ask! Original ask meme here!

[SWTOR asks/questions - R answers]
From @ghostace!
Extremely sorry if the text cut doesn’t work. lmao. I just answered All of it.
1. do you play mostly as male or female bodied characters? which body type do you use the most?
I go about equal on the gender options. I LIKE the body type 2 (aka. the societal beauty standard I’m accustomed to), but I try to mix it up. I don’t like what #1 does with the heads/faces but I do like female #4 faces.
2. which class has your favourite visual aesthetic?
Probably sniper, although double lightsabers are good too.
3. what advanced class has your favourite combat style for levelling, pve, and/or pvp?
Juggernaut/Guardian tanking is my top choice because it’s not complicated. Levelling sniper/gunslinger has been more fun.
4. are there any class combat styles you love, but can’t deal with on the mirrored version?
I still have so much to learn--I don’t have this issue yet.
5. what discipline can you just not play worth a damn?
I imagine the worst will prrroobably be trooper/BH heals. It seems like there’d be a lot going on, and I’m really unsuited to juggling different skills/unsuited for heals generally.
6. are there any disciplines you haven’t ever tried? which ones?
I’ve done tanking, DPS, and some healing, but there’s a lot of subtypes of the classes I’ve never tried.
7. what class has your favourite voice acting?
I haven’t finished much of the game! But uh. I really love the male warrior voice. Guilty obsession.
8. what single line is your favourite piece of dialogue in-game? where is it from?
So far: the exchange on Corellia where you can convince the droid to call up Baras -- just to troll him.
9. what single-planet class story arc is your favourite from all/any of the classes?
From my limited experience, Warrior’s story on Belsavis sticks with me.
10. which class story has the best story arc on a planet you normally hate?
I guess I hate Quesh but that was a good Warrior moment too.
11. which class story has the weakest story arc on a planet you normally love?
uhh I do love Ilum, but don’t feel too strongly about the short plot there (except I loved to look So Important in the cut scenes).
12. which shared (pub/imp) planetary arc can you never skip when levelling through the vanilla story?
8); I don’t tend to skip them yet.
13. are there any side/exploration/heroic missions you especially love?
Can’t think of one right now--but I love event missions. Gree & rakghouls!!
14. which character did you make as a throwaway (ie DvL) and came to love?
I haven’t really had that experience. Cezek is not meant to be particularly important, but I guess I might end up playing her more than I thought b/c sniping is fun.
15. which character did you think was going to stick around but these days is at the bottom of your login list?
No-. . . !!! I love all my children. . . !!
16. who was your original main? do you still play them?
Tarskal. 😒He’s still a main. Lol. Kirryl (pubside) is less-played than I might like her to be. She’s still my only max-level DPS, but DPS is not often sought-after.
17. if you have any older characters, what’s changed about them since you started?
It’s been less than 2 yrs since I started and I still haven’t finished with any of them-! so. . I wouldn’t call any of them ‘older characters’.
18. what companion headcanons/meta do you follow no matter what?
Several of them are MORE GAY than vanilla romance would have you believe.
19. which companion traits would you like to return to the writer’s room for reevaluation?
From what I’ve heard, I would like them to reconsider Doc’s behavior with “no means no”.
20. what five companions would you pick, from all of them, if you had to make a new crew?
Going with what I know: 1. Ashara 2. Vector 3. honestly maybe Qyzen 4. a Nexu 5. (this spots saved for a later favorite)
21. what in-game decision did you most dislike the given options for?
nggh. There’s gonna be some bad ones I bet.
22. do you collect cartel market items or stick to base-game? older items, newer items, a mix?
My character wardrobe is usually just stuff I picked up in the game. I am very into SH decos--cartel or otherwise.
23. which outfit did you spend the longest on? the most credits?
All are meticulously chosen. lol. I think the only pricy one was when I bought the Show-Off armor to have the open-chested vest for TD (cuz the Hooligan jacket with the belts was never in my price range). Getting skanky is the most costly style choice in this game. (And it was not outrageously pricey.)
24. what item(s) did you most regret buying on the gtn or cartel market?
Oh, I dunno that I have any big regrets yet. Maybe a few things I’m like “well THAT could have been cheaper if I waited”.
25. what collections category do you have the highest % completion in?
97% emoteeees
26. which stronghold did you spend the most time decorating? the most credits?
I unlocked most of Yavin, which was Expensive, but I have never properly decorated there. I might have spent approximately equal amounts of time on Coruscant and Dromund Kaas (a Lot for each). Nar Shaddaa is decorated-ish but maybe didn’t take so long.
27. which stronghold do you spend the most time in?
Nar Shaddaa on imperial (it’s got my best convenience setup), Coruscant on pub side.
28. do you host anything at your stronghold, or is it mostly for you?
I’m ready to have anybody over anytime!! I mean I also use it to conceptualize living situations for my OCs, but it’s awfully lonely if no one else ever visits.
29. what do you most like about the changes from beta, vanilla, early f2p, 4.0, etc?
I haven’t been here that long. :o I like how things turn more convenient though. 8); I DO remember a time before heroics were available in the activity window.
30. what do you miss the most about “the old days”? if a newer player, what have you heard about that you would have liked to experience?
Hmmm. It would have been cool to play before spoilers are just A Given about everything. And I don’t know if it was ever a thing, but I like to imagine a scenario where people actually do PVP in the rakghoul tunnels b/c that sounds like a glorious mess. Lol. Oh--AND I wouldn’t mind seeing what planets/world-bosses were like before everything got adjusted-for-level.
31. tell us a random fact/story you haven’t shared before about a swtor experience
Everybody loves to habitually touch/pick-up whatever items they can in this game, yea?
Well, when we were settling into being level 70, Dani and tried (and enjoyed) playing Uprisings with just the 2 of us and companions. (It can be easy for 2 people on Story mode, or they can present just a nice level of challenge--I learned a lot through those before I really started doing Flashpoints, actually).
We did good on Inferno! That was the first one. Big success.
We tried Destroyer of Worlds as our very next one, I think.
So like. . . the mobs weren’t causing many problems for us. It can get a lil crazy, but a tank (me) can keep things a bit organized, and Dani would AOE-/decimate/ those mobs as DPS. They are so weak. >:) ! We must have beat at least one boss encounter (possibly 2).
But as you go, there’s these ~mysterious~ stone tablets scattered all around the caverns, radiating a mystical energy.
U can click on them. Pick them up.
WHICH--as it turns out--(spoilers lmao) is the method of summoning the bonus boss Tentacle McAlien Horrorsquiggles.
Well no sense in letting the new visitor go unchallenged, now that it’s standing there waiting to say hi-- It--uh--turns out, though: the bonus boss was CONSIDERABLY more tough for us than the rest. We did our v best & gave it all we had (I def didn’t know everything I know now about playing my character, and gear was Worse), but we were hopelessly outmatched. \8) Got Wrekked a few times without any progress.
And then we realized we had to walk past the Monstrosity to get through the door. It did not despawn. So . . . Some more death resulted from that.
In the end, I THINK we made it past with Juli’s group-stealth. But the droid with our explosives did not progress far enough to trigger the end of the Uprising. (Either that, or that happened on a different run-through. . .) RIP & Reset. 8D;
We did finally complete the whole thing on the do-over (no problem~!!!) . . . But we’ve never gone back and had our rematch w/ that eldritch bonus boss.
:O

A. SET-UP: grocery or garden center pre-grown basil (not from seed) Type: holy or sweet basil
1. Buy a pot from the grocery shop or garden center.
2. Get the appropriate soil from your garden center: the type for vegetables, herbs or seedings; I think 3-5 liters will do. And some perlite (the smallest size will do). - Soil PH Range: 5.5 – 6.5
3. Get various pots from size [depth/heightxdiameter]: 10x12cm to 17x20cm; the number depending on the number of basil plants you wish to plant from the grocery pot.
4. Use a spatula or a plastic knife to gently score the side of the basil pot to loosen the earth from the pot. Gently turn it upside down and gently squeeze the pot (you can also gently pull on the plants but gently so you won't destroy any roots), until the entire thing comes out of the pot.
5. Select which plants you want from that and gentle separate a clump of earth around each plant and segregate the roots. You will be damaging parts of the roots this say so a gentle hand is good. Eat the rest or you can try salvage as many plants from that single pot as you can. The trick is ensure the plants original roots are in tact as much as possible.
6. Mix about a tablespoon or more of perlite with enough soil to cover each pot. 7. Mix well so that the perlite is spread throughout the pot. Basil like airy roots so this will help get them the air they need in an enclosed space.
8. Can plant up to 4 tiny basils on the smaller pots, try to give them space from each other. And 4 larger plants in the biggest pots you have. The ideal situation is 1 plant to 1 pot. That way you will have to repot them less in the growing season. 9. Water these pots with water containing a fertilizer solution till water drains from the bottom. Put them at your sunniest spot. B. PROPAGATING from these plants
1. For the tallest plants you can cut off 5 to 10 cm from the top up to a node with already growing little leaves (cut right above the little leaves). 2. And put these plants with a significant part of the stem in a glass jar or glass filled with water. 3. Put it by the windowsill or balcony where it gets 6-8 hours of sunlight at least. Change and refill the water so that the stems are always submerged. In the ideal temperature en sunlight conditions, roots will shoot within days. Leave them three to develop a bushy root system before you transplant them onto their own pots.
You can follow this guide here: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/herbs/basil/propagating-basil.htm or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byoEBdVoVpM
C. WATERING
Water only if needed: check if water is needed: dip your finger about 2 centimeter gently in the soil. If it feels like sand, water it. If you still feel some moisture, wait a little longer before watering. How-to water: always water underneath the plant and never from the top onto the leaves. Keep the leaves dry.
Frequency: once every week fill till water runs under the pot. Let it drain before putting it back on its tray. On the hottest summer months, you may need to water 2x a week. So check up on your basil plants regularly. D. SUNLIGHT Basil needs 6-8 hours of sunlight; they can put put directly under the sun. But in the hottest summer months they may require some shade on the hottest time of the day and more frequent waterings.
F. FERTILIZER
Fertilize with liquid, pellet, or stick fertilizer that is specific to tomatoes/peppers or to vegetables in general. Frequency: every 4 weeks for the entire growing season and follow the instructions on the package or the bottle. - NPK = 104–12–73 Set a mark on your calendar so you will remember to fertilize every month.
DO NOT GIVE IT MORE THAN THE PACKAGE INSTRUCTS. This will burn your basil roots.
G. TEMPERATURE Ideal growing temp day: 24-28 °C Ideal resting temp night: 18-22 °C
Bring them inside if the temperature drops below 10 °C. Basil will not tolerate frost, so do not leave them outside when the night will become 0 °C. If above 28 °C provide partial shade at the hottest time of the day. Temperature matters for basil and they grow better with the right temperatures and will gain the specific flavors favorable to basil.
H. TIPS
1. You can get plastic pots or fabric pots: https://www.amazon.de/Tutoy-Eco-Friendly-Planting-Aeration-Container/dp/B07P985C4Z/ref=sr_1_46?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&dchild=1&keywords=fabric+grow+pots&qid=1618220145&sr=8-46 2. If you get plastic pots you will definitely need the perlite to create more air pockets. If you get fabric pots, the perlite will be optional as the roots will get air through the fabric. Basil doesn't like getting water logged so make sure your pots have holes and has perlite for extra air and/or the pots are fabric. 3. Keep basil from getting pests by mulching the ground (even in pots!).
4. To make your stems grow stronger and hardier: wait a day longer with watering. Giving it a longer dry spell will signal to the plant to make itself more drought-proof and that includes creating a hardier stem. Harding the stems can help you overwinter your basil (if that is what you wish, otherwise, plan to make pesto by the time temperatures dip below 10 °C and you can no longer keep your basil outdoors).
I. ISSUES: 1. IF the top leaves get yellow, you may be giving it too much water. Withhold water until the leaves turn regular green again. Gently poke holes in the pot with a BBQ stick to allow air and/or move to a sunnier spot. 2. If leaves turn spotty yellow or white throughout the plant, you may have given it it too much fertilizer. Pour water beneath the leaves until the water flushes out the bottom. Do this about two times so the water flushes out the excess fertilizer. If you just watered it that week, wait till your watering day and then flush it. Do not flush it again in that same week because basil does not like being overwatered. Do the soil moisture check as listed above and move the pot to a sunnier spot (or get a grow lamp). Try these two first, before fertilizing as over fertilizing will burn your basil. 3. If entire leaves are yellowing uniformly, the temperature may be too cold or the plant is getting too little sun. Basil prefers day temperatures at least 21 C, night above 10 C. Basil prefers bright sunlight for six to eight hours per day. Read more at Gardening Know How: Basil Plant Turning Yellow: How To Treat Yellow Leaves On Basil Plants https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/herbs/basil/yellow-leaves-on-basil.htm 4. Brown and/or white dots might lace the leaves after you watered them wetting the leaves and then leaving them out in the sun. There is no cure once this happens. The best you can do is inspect the plant and remove the leaves you find these. Prevent by watering underneath the leaves and never on the leaves. Keep the leaves dry.
5. Leaf spots, fungal spots and mildew can also occur. Take pictures of infected leaves and use Google Image to reverse search to identify which it is and find existing cures. You can also check below sources for common issues and pests and for tips on countering them.

The ECS Liva Q1D is the smallest and greenest mini-PC ever. It can stream 4K video at 60Hz. It's great as a Netflix streaming box, digital-signage system, or thin client. But it has a few performance limitations. So is the Liva worth $188 (MSRP $226.88)?
Hardware Analysis

Going off the specs alone, the Liva Q1D offers a low-tier processor along with an absolutely tiny form factor. Its use of soldered-on components and low-wattage electronics should make it a green monster for chopping down power expenditures. But a potential fly-in-the-ointment is its processor, which is almost five years old, and its single-channel RAM, which could bottleneck its video capabilities.

Price: MSRP $226.88 without an OS; $239.99 with Windows 10 Home
Intel Celeron N4200

The quad-core Intel Celeron N4200 "Apollo Lake" processor is designed for fanless, mobile devices. While delivering weaker performance than Intel's mainstream desktop processors, it uses between two and four times less power, depending on the mode of operation.
The lower power consumption goes hand-in-hand with heat production, which also means it's ideal for smaller, passively-cooled devices, such as tablets. But with a cooling fan blazing away, a Celeron N4200 can sustain higher clock speeds, meaning it provides greater performance compared to a tablet or stick PC. In particular, ECS's Liva can pull "Burst Speed" frequencies of 2.4GHz for all four cores for brief periods or 2.5GHz on a single core. Stick PCs or tablets might only ramp one core up to full burst speeds, for even shorter periods of time.
Even with a tiny, whispering fan blowing, the Q1D ranks among the most performant smaller-than-a-NUC mini-PCs (what's a NUC?). On the downside, Apollo Lake released in 2016, making it a generation behind Intel's ambitious Jasper Lake architecture.
Intel HD Graphics 505
The integrated graphics inside of the Liva Q1D won't perform any miracles, but it will drive 4K displays at 60Hz over HDMI and it will decode H.265/HEVC videos. Considering that even the much newer Intel UHD 630 can't drive a 4K display at 60Hz over HDMI, that's quite an accomplishment.
But don't expect to play games or perform other resource-intensive video-rendering tasks. It's first and foremost a graphics system for playing, at most, 4K video. It also lacks HDR compatibility so while it's great for 4K content, it won't automatically adjust contrast ratios or brightness.
Unfortunately, while the Liva technically possesses a dual-channel memory controller, it appears to only use a single stick of RAM. That means dual-channel mode is out. And because integrated graphics rely heavily on fast RAM, single-channel mode damages graphics performance.
On another note, there's also no BIOS option to allocate more system memory to the integrated graphics processor.
Ports and VESA-Mounting in an Ultra-Small Size

The ECS Q1D measures in at 2.83 x 2.83 x 1.22 inches (72 x 72 x 31mm), while weighing in at around 6.4 ounces (181 grams). In comparison, a NUC form factor measures in at 4.61 x 4.41 x 1.54 inches (117 x 112 x 39mm). The smallest motherboard made, a Pico-ITX board, is about the same size as the Liva's case. For reference, a can of soda towers over the Liva.
Overall, there aren't any mini-PCs that come smaller or lighter, outside of stick PCs. Combined with the VESA-mounting bracket (which comes included with the Liva Q1D), you can even screw it onto the back of a monitor.
Streaming and Playback: 4K Videos at 60Hz and 30Hz
Playing downloaded content proceeded normally and without issue. 4K videos play fine all the way up to 60Hz.
Streaming suffers from a few issues in Firefox, but not in Chrome. In Firefox, streaming 4K content plays fine at 24 FPS. Unfortunately, higher refresh rates caused graphical issues as well as massive frame-rate drops. But Chrome doesn't suffer from these issues, so I can only assume the problem is with Firefox's use of the Intel HD 505 graphics processor.
As a streaming device for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, the Liva performs adequately, although that depends on your internet connection. Streaming 4K 60Hz content on a non-fiber connection will result in significant performance issues. Otherwise, the Liva doesn't overheat and its fan emits no more than 42 decibels. Likewise, video quality stays fluid and without choppiness.
On the downside, the lack of HDR support means you can't use screen-enhancing features like Dolby Vision or HDR10. Also, keep in mind that while the Liva supports the most-common HEVC/H.265 content, it may not handle other codecs at 4K60Hz.
File-Transfer Speeds
The eMMC storage drive isn't designed for high performance. Even so, it's adequate for most purposes. While 64GB isn't a lot of storage, it's sufficient to contain Windows 10 along with around 40GB of space remaining.
It actually performs reasonably well for an eMMC drive. However, compared to even a DRAM-less SSD, the performance isn't great.

As far as browsing the internet goes, the Liva offers adequate, although slow, performance. However, loading pages in tabs and other resource-intensive tasks will result in stuttering and molasses-like page loads. Overall, it's not a device that handles intense web operations. It's best used for infrequent web browsing, with media playback as its primary function.
PassMark Benchmarks
The utility of synthetic benchmarking isn't useful, particularly for a low-power PC. For comparison's sake, I include the results of a PassMark bench test. The numbers, unfortunately, do not tell the full story of a computer designed for 4K playback using a minimal wattage.
Power Efficiency

The Liva Q1D's superb power efficiency means two things: low operating costs and a tiny energy-consumption footprint.
With EUP/ErP enabled in its BIOS, the power-off energy usage falls beneath the minimum consumption that my power meter detects. In suspend mode, the energy usage remains stable at 0.3 watts. Idle power consumption hovers between 4.8 and 5 watts.
Under peak loads, the Liva consumes up to 13-watts. While streaming 4K content at 24Hz, it consumes an average of 10 watts, although my power meter showed usage bouncing between 7 and 12 watts. During 4K playback at 60Hz, it consumes 11 watts. In comparison, a desktop-class processor usually consumes three-times or four-times the power while delivering the same video experience.
Overall, the Liva is extremely power efficient. There are a lot of reasons for its power efficiency. Some of the components, such as the RAM, use lower voltages. And because it uses a sub-Pico-ITX, custom-designed motherboard, there are fewer components that require power. In sum, ECS's engineering has created one of the most eco-friendly, green computers that I've ever tested.
Temperatures and Fan Performance
The Q1D's cooling system runs at whisper-quiet speeds, even at maximum loads. On the downside, it aggressively reduces CPU frequency in response to its oftentimes too-high CPU temperatures. I noticed throttling down to around 1.8GHz
To test fan noise and thermal performance, I hit the CPU with a Prime95 stress test for 30 minutes. While the CPU never passed the thermal shutdown limit, the CPU temperature leapt to its thermal limit of 105C. Concerningly, the fan never passed 38 decibels in volume, which is audible but extremely quiet for a small fan.
Even after the Liva's CPU aggressively throttled down to 1.8GHz, the temperature remained at, or near, 105C. It seems that ECS prioritized low fan volume over cooling performance. That's unfortunate because ECS also set each core to be able to run at their full Burst-Speed mode of 2.4GHz simultaneously. I wish that ECS had enabled fan control in the BIOS settings for those who didn't mind noise.
But, in summary, streaming 4K content does not require massive amounts of resources. And unless you plan on running some really heavy software, there's no reason to be concerned. In streaming 4K video at 60Hz, the fan never exceeded 42 decibels in volume and its temperatures remained well within its operating threshold.
Repairability and Modularity

The Liva Q1D lacks modular features. All of its components, down to the wireless adapter, are soldered onto the mainboard. Unfortunately, if any single component fails, you'll have to replace the entire system. However, ECS offers an above average 2-year warranty on its Liva series, double the warranty offered by most PC manufacturers.
Linux Compatibility
Ubuntu 20.04 and its derivatives worked on the Liva Q1D. I also installed Mint and a few other distros. Even Wi-Fi worked perfectly, without any complication.
Unfortunately, the Liva isn't compatible with Ubuntu 18.04 or with any ChromeOS-based operating system, like Neverware's CloudReady.
Additionally, Intel's VT-d/VT-x technology is turned on by default in the BIOS/UEFI, which allows for virtualized Linux installations to run without issue.
Q1D Problems
The Q1D isn't perfect and won't fulfill the needs of those who need high-performance computers.
Not for Gaming
The Celeron N4200 doesn't handle 3D graphics well. Even the most basic of 2D-platformers will run sluggishly.
Micro-SD Card Isn't Bootable
You won't be able to boot the system from the Micro-SD card slot. If you want to use a bootable image, you'll need to use one of the three USB ports.
Not Upgradeable
All of the Liva Q1D's components are soldered onto the mainboard. In other words, if any component fails, the entire motherboard will need replacement. ECS covers the Liva series with a 2-year warranty, however.
Apollo Lake Is Old
The Liva's CPU and graphics released in 2016. While Intel hasn't made huge advances in its low-power processors between 2016 and 2020, in 2021, it will release Jasper Lake, a cutting-edge design based on its much newer 10nm production process. Jasper Lake brings with it superior video-streaming capabilities, HDR, and a lot more.
No USB Type-C (USB-C)
The lack of USB-C ports increases the physical presence of the Liva, while reducing its flexibility. While not everyone loves USB-C, the ports can handle any peripheral, provided you have the right adapter. On top of that, USB-C can also serve as a power source as well as provide video output using HDMI's Alt Mode.
Should You Buy the ECS Q1D?
The Q1D is an excellent enterprise-class computer for budget prices. It's also a solid thin client, marginally capable of handling basic home-computing tasks. The two-year warranty on such an inexpensive system makes it a good fit if your computing needs are modest. It's best for those who need a 4K head unit and nothing more powerful.
While ECS's engineering team has squeezed about as much performance as possible from an older Apollo Lake Celeron N4200 processor, unfortunately, Intel's upcoming Jasper Lake architecture makes all older mobile processors obsolete for Windows 10. If you can live with its shortcomings, consider buying a Liva Q1D.

How Dangerous is Second Hand Cannabis Smoke
A response to the CMAJ Open Article: Health effects of exposure to second- and third-hand marijuana smoke: a systematic review
While all dog bites can be serious, there is a big difference between a Doberman and a dachshund. The same can be said for the clinical effects resulting from smoking tobacco compared with cannabis. While many find second hand cannabis smoke as unpleasant as that from cigarettes, it is more difficult to establish restrictions given the relatively minimal health consequences of primary inhalation. In the reviewers’ notes, the authors were asked to provide a reference to support the harms of marijuana smoke. They unfortunately chose an outdated National Institute for Drug Abuse article(1) that should be viewed as much a political document as scientific(2). The recent and definitive National Academy of Sciences report (3) found that contrary to the belief of many politicians and physicians, there is moderate evidence of no association between smoking cannabis and the development of head, neck or lung cancers. Nor is there an established link between cannabis smoking and COPD, leaving the predominant respiratory consequence of smoking cannabis is chronic bronchitis which resolves upon cessation(4). The cardiovascular consequences of direct cannabis use are also relatively mild in comparison with tobacco. There is an oft quoted risk of 4.8 for triggering an acute myocardial infarction, however this calculation was based on only 9 patients, 3 of whom confounded the results by engaging in intercourse, cocaine use or both directly before their MI (3). A more recent study (5) put the odds ratio for acute MI at 1.73, similar to naproxen, and far lower than the eightfold increase for acute MI from tobacco(6). Of note, the direct effect of cannabis smoke is as likely as coffee to trigger an AMI, and less than anger, alcohol, or sexual intercourse(7). Chronic cannabis use has not been associated with increased risk of myocardial infarction; even the limited evidence of acute risk would need to be balanced against the limited evidence of decreased metabolic syndrome and diabetes found in cannabis users(3). Potential driving impairment from second hand smoke seems unlikely to be significant as even primary cannabis use produces only a moderately increased OR for fatal accident of 1.65, dwarfed by the 17.8 increase associated with alcohol(8). In an earlier second hand cannabis smoking study, even when subjective effects of a high was reported, there was no significant impairment noticed on neuropsychological testing(9). While intense exposure to cannabis smoke can cause subjective effects and positive urine tests, it is important to understand the intense conditions required to produce these results. In a recent paradigm(10), 12 subjects were placed in a tightly sealed space equivalent to a small bedroom. Six of the twelve were chronic cannabis users and during the 60 minute session, they smoked an average of 2.4 g each, equivalent to 7.5 joints and over 150% of their usual daily consumption. Goggles were provided because of the intensity of the smoke irritation. Even with this heroic exposure, one third of the non-smokers reported no significant contact high. These conditions can in no way be said to mimic a real- world environment although they do lend credence to the phenomenon of “hotboxing” Before we attempt to write policy to deal with second hand cannabis smoke, we must be clear about the primary effects to cannabis users. Public health messages should be honest in educating consumers that while smoking cannabis has not been linked to lung cancer or COPD, using a vaporizer is an easily available harm reduction strategy that can minimize the relatively minor respiratory consequences. Further research could be aimed at understanding the factors involved in why cannabis smoke does not cause lung cancer – could this be related to the bronchodilatory properties of THC, lower dosage, immunosuppression or putative antitumor properties(11)? The issue of second hand exposure to cannabis smoke appears to be easily mitigated by avoiding intense exposure through restricting occupancy or by cracking a window. 1. Societal Readiness Levels: Ready for a new normal?
Monika Büscher
‘What gets measured gets done’ – a treacherous mantra of our times. As societies bend to a technocratic Gestell of indicators, their compliance feeds its power. In her critique of the New Urban Agenda’s call for urban resilience, Maria Kaika highlights how indicator-based planning can undermine communities. She cites Tracie Washington’s defense of disaster victims:
everytime you say, “Oh, they’re resilient, [it actually] means you can do something else, … We were not born to be resilient; we are conditioned to be resilient. I don’t want to be resilient …. [I want to] fix the things that [create the need for us to] be resilient [in the first place]
Tracie Washington, President of the Louisiana Justice Institute, in Kaika (2017).
Kaika shows how indicators designed to support resilience can end up supporting an ‘immunological’ ideology. A technocratic, managerial, solutionist smart city innovation agenda, she argues, ‘vaccinates citizens and environments so that they can take larger doses of inequality and degradation in the future’ (2017:89). The concept of ‘Technology Readiness Levels’ (TRL) is part of this agenda, as is the emergent concept of Societal Readiness Levels (SRL) (Fig 1). However, an affirmative critique (Braidotti 2011)of SRL may offer a lifeline off this self-destructive juggernaut.
Figure 1 Visualisations of Societal and Technological Readiness (Source: (Allwood et al. 2017)(right), (Schraudner et al. 2018)(left))
Developed by NASA as a ‘systematic metric/measurement system that supports assessments of the maturity of a particular technology’ and comparison between different types of technology (Mankins 1995), the TRL metric has spread to guide multi-trillion global innovation programmes. TRL embody a culture of solutionism (Morozov 2013), where technology is seen as a product designed to fulfill societal or operational needs or ambitions. SRL critique this technocractic focus. The SRL concept originates in debates about a transition towards low carbon futures (Allwood et al 2017, Fig 1 left) and the Danish Innovation Fund’s attempt to find a ‘way of assessing the level of societal adaptation of, for instance, a particular … innovation (whether social or technical) to be integrated into society’ (Fig 1 right). The two approaches are different in aim, one focused on a societal transformation where a socio-technical change of reduced material demand has become ‘normal practice’ at the highest SRL level, the other on measuring successful (profitable) embedding of (desire for) a product.
The Danish Innovation Fund’s SRL framework in particular has received interest from major actors like UK and EU research funding bodies. This indicates that concerns with the social dimension of innovation have become mainstream. The 2050 European Energy Roadmap, for example, recognises that citizens’ active participation in energy management is ‘as critical as technology to making the European energy system more flexible and sustainable’, and smart city innovation is scrambling to become ‘citizen-focused’. However, such citizen-focus all-too-often remains – at best! –at a ‘placating’ level (Cardullo and Kitchin 2019), at worst it constitutes cynical lip-service for moreintrusive commercial and security-driven exploitation of citizen data in ‘Lifeworld.Inc’ (Thrift 2011).
Mainstreaming attention to the social through SRL has failed so far. Why? Does this mean the very idea is ideologically corrupted like the New Urban Agenda’s resilience indicator-based approach? Or is failure down to a lack of societal readiness of the currently dominant SRL concept itself? Measurement and comparison have proved critical to societal transformation before (Mosley 2009). And as rapid societal transformation is needed to avert the collapse of humanity, could societal readiness be conceived differently? Allwood et al’s concern with a new normal as the highest level of societal readiness resonates with social science debates that the Danish Innovation Fund seems oblivious to. The summary below is designed to explore how we might give new direction to SRL.
Christensen’s recognition that innovation is often disruptive of existing socio-economic orders (Christensen 1997; Christensen et al 2015)highlights that technologies are not products to be inserted into a ‘context’ but catalysts for change. The concept of mode-2 science and society (Nowotny et al 2001)addresses this disruptive element and the unintended, un-known and unknow-able consequences of innovation. Mode-2 society and mode-2 science are based on interdisciplinary collaboration, and methods of collective experimentation (Felt and Wynne 2008), where scientists and citizens, organisations, technology developers and those who appropriate technology, bring together and contest social and technological innovation. Opportunities for such collaboration are often clustered at the implementation end of innovation, but calls to create them further upstream are beginning to define methodologies for citizen engagement on higher rungs of the ladder of participation (Arnstein 1969)to conduct Experiment Earth(Stilgoe 2016).
The result of such efforts should be more carefully radical and radically careful design (Latour 2008). Methods for achieving it cluster around experimentation, creative, artistic disruption and the strategic power of ignorance and surprise (Gross 2010). Gross suggests that given our inevitable ignorance in the face of complex systemic disruptions and unintended consequences of innovation it is critical that we generate as much surprise as early as possible. Simulation, play, broad-base dialogue and collaborative learning are essential for this. Introna (2007)adds an ethical dimension with his call for disclosive ethics and a focus on reversibility – it is important to not allow innovations to settle too fast. Recent efforts to define a digital ethics by the European Data Protection Supervisors’ Office address this need to give ethical issues a broader than regulatory exposure, including public consultation (EDPS 2015; 2018)
What is the role of the social scientist in this? Braidotti's (2011)demand to move beyond critique and into constructive endeavours or affirmative critique, require the courage to ‘stick one’s neck out’ and make value-based normative recommendations for how things should be organized in better ways. Failure and being wrong are obvious dangers. But there might be ways of doing it playfully and in safe spaces, experimentally, creatively, and collectively, which resonates strongly calls for an experimental sociology (Thrift 2011), inventive and speculative methods (Lury and Wakeford 2013; Michael 2016). It also sits well with suggestions that it is not necessarily deliberation or consensus that should be sought. Instead participatory designers and action researchers are calling on us to engage in infrastructuring for participation, seeking to include and enable dissent, debate, ongoing experimentation (Ehn 2008; Dantec and DiSalvo 2013)
Levitas’ utopia as method (2013)provides perhaps the most integrative framework for these endeavours. This is a creative appropriation of utopia not as a blueprint of a ‘better’ world designed by experts, but a method to engage diverse stakeholders in making better pockets of the world together, all the while remaining open to experiencing how and for whom this worldly constellation is (not) better and how. Collective narrative methods and visual story-building methods are particularly suited (Porritt 2013; McKay and Dickson 2016; Popan 2018)
None of these contributions have so far made it into definitions of SRL. The Danish Innovation Fund’s focus on validation, testing, deployment supports experimentation, but it is driven by a concern with social acceptance (and not the acceptability) of innovation, based on a deficit model of poor public understanding of science and technology. To ask, with Tsing(2015), and through research and innovation, ‘what if the time was ripe for sensing precarity?’ and ‘what constitutes living with it well?’, SRL need to be co-created, they need to measure how innovations enable a good ‘new normal’, and this needs to be open to contestation.

“What The Job?!” - Scholar
1 - Intro:
Alright, so I’ve had a bunch of my friends say it would be super helpful if I made a “how to Scholar” thing because I do it, and I do it quite well apparently. Instead of just making it for them, I thought I would share this information with all of you. So here it is, my first, “What The Job?!”
This guide is as of 4.05 and I’ll try and reblog with updates as significant changes are made to the class, or small ones. First off I want to say; this is how I play scholar, and my recommendations, not the be all end all Bible or anything of the sort. Now settle down and get ready to let me tell you a thing I like to think I know.
==============
2 - Index:
1 - Intro 2 - Index 3 - Terms 4 - Why/Should I Scholar? 5 - What kind of healing? 6 - Gear & Attributes 7 - Abilities A - Special Note B - Dps Skills C - Non Healing Important Skills D - Healing and Healing Related Skills E - Aetherflow F - Aetherflow stack skills: G - Faerie Gauge 8 - Role Abilities 9 - Traits 10 - Pets/Faeries A - How the Hell Does This Thing Work B - Pet related skills and traits C - Eos: The Perfect Child D - Selene: The Multi-Tool 11 - Rotations A - Gaging B - Dps C - Healing 12 - Stratagem 13 - Macro’s 14 - Hotbars 15 - Gaming Gear/Work Around 16 - The End
==============
3 - Terms:
Assuming you know the abbreviations for the classes, please see the below for further.
DOT = Damage over time AOE = Area of effect Crit = Critical Dps = Damage per second lvl = Level ilvl = Item Level HP = Hit points EPH = Effective Potency Heal - Healing of spell + shields combined MP = Mana Points Mnd = Mind Int = Intelligence Pie = Piety MSQ = Main story quest
==============
4 - Why/Should I Scholar?:
First off, Scholar is a job with a bit of an entry level issue. While Ast gets to start from 30 and gets a wide variety of heals locked behind 300+ MSQ quests and any one class to 50, and WHM is just CNJ 30 with a bunch of heals at the start; SCH is 30 levels of ACN, only to be given 2 heals total at lvl 30. It’s a rough start, but if you can make it to lvl 50 you really start to shine. SCH is a very strategic healer, you’ll find instead of the obvious answer you may have to read up a bit more on what you can do vs should do, or plan ahead of a fight a little to get the most out of the job at first. The more you play the class the less planning you’ll find you end up doing and the more reflexive you’ll become. This may seem tedious and a huge discouragement, but the job can be extremely rewarding to both you and the group when used effectively. I like to say I can pull rabbits out of my book, because sometimes that’s exactly what it feels like despite you controlling your own luck; it’s all in the execution.
==============
5 - What kind of healing?:
Galvanize, also known as Shields, all the shields, people joke SCH’s can mitigate enough damage your gear durability goes up (not actually). There’s also some micromanagement but honestly you have some of the most flexible, reactive, as well as proactive healing and dps available to a healer; SCH’s live up to the lore. Where WHM is big heals and big regen, and AST can buff, regen, and even shield like you, no one has a kit of abilities quite like you do. You can respond and react to almost every situation.
==============
6 - Gear & Attributes:
Everybody values these differently as a healer, for me it’s the following: 1. Mind: for healing potency you will spend all attribute points on this. 2. Critical Hit Rate: What makes SCH’s is the ability to Crit shield, I’ll explain this later but know it’s important, this also increases your damage when you do attack and Crit so it pulls double duty. 3. Piety: for MP to cast more spells for healing or Dps, since Aetherflow is a % of your MP, having more means a better return on the skill. 4. Determination: increases your damaging spells and your heals, always good. 5. Spell Speed: is nice but not necessary as your casts are decent times and a huge amount of your best heals and abilities are instant cast off global cooldown, and it doesn’t decrease your faerie’s recast timer which can throw her off sync in some combat.
Note: If you prefer surecast over swiftcast which is described later, bump spell speed up above determination as it will help greatly with resurrect and summon’s.
==============
7 - Abilities:
A - Special Note:
Anything that says “Shields” or “Galvanize” as part of the healing or spell effect DOES NOT stack with Nocturnal Sect AST’s shields. If you are in a party with an AST, please politely ask them to switch into Diurnal sect if they do not do so automatically as you do not have the choice of not using shielding heals like they do. If they ask why, explain that AST’s shields overwrite your shields, and vice versa, meaning you’re both wasting MP on casts that could be better spent. At this time AST actually shields MORE than a SCH, but they do not have the ability to spread shields like you, or the added flexibility that comes with your faerie. If they refuse… Well, pucker up and get ready for a rough run.
B - Dps Skills:
These first because you’re gonna have to get through 30 lvls of Arcanist somehow.
Ruin: lvl 1: 100 Potency Instant. Global cooldown. Ruin is you attack when you have nothing better to do and all your dots are already applied and everything else is on cooldown and don’t have broil yet. Okay, but not winning any awards. Shares global cast cast time. Ruin II: lvl 38: 100 Potency, Instant. Global cooldown. An instant cast ability on the global cooldown. Is it high on your priority list? Not really, and for 2x the mana cost of Ruin I it’s pretty hard to justify casting, really only use this if you are running away from an AOE, or need to cast quickly on a target that needs to be killed to avoid a wipe mechanic before lvl 54. Bio: lvl 2: 40 Potency x 6 = 240 Potency over 18 seconds, Instant. Global cooldown. Part of your bread and butter Dps combo, it’s an instant cast and allows you to use other instant cast off global cooldown abilities while you wait to be able to cast again. Recommend to cast this while on the move or after Miasma; as you will quickly shoot off both abilities and give you a moment to cast Bane, both I’ll describe later. Bio II: lvl 26: 35 Potency x 10 ticks = 350 Potency over 30 seconds, Instant. Global cooldown. Another part of your bread and butter Dps combo, it’s an instant cast and allows you to use other instant cast off global cooldown abilities while you wait to be able to cast again. Your Bio upgrades into Bio II, same recommendations apply to casting. Miasma: 35 Potency x 8 = 280 Potency over 24 seconds, 2.5 sec cast. Global cooldown. Also a spell with cast time and the part of your bread and butter Dps combo, small cast time, recommend casting Miasma, then Bio II on each enemy, or Bane after casting the combo on the first enemy if you want to spread DoT’s more quickly. Miasma II: 100 Potency + (25 Potency x 4) = 200 Potency over 12 seconds, AOE, 2.5 sec cast. Global cooldown. So this is, different? You will want to use it with 3 or more enemies, but beware that MP cost, it’s steep and builds up fast, so don’t spam it. Again, this only pays off in any stage of the game if there are 3 or more mobs, preferably 4. Huge thing to note, this is an AOE around YOU; you will need to be in the thick of things to hit enemies with this, do not try to cast it from 15 yalms away from the mob. Shadow Flare: lvl 50: 50 Potency x 5 = 250 Potency over 15 seconds + Slow 5% (slows cast and ability recast time for enemies in the area by 5%), 60 sec cooldown. Instant. No MP cost. Shadow flare is a great opener, and a good skill to use if you’re not sure about being able to Dps and heal. The ability is cast instantly, this is great practice for nervous healers trying to get the hang of attacking and healing as you start to get a feel for what you can and can’t get away with. The fact this is a place-able AOE makes it better because at 4 enemies you reach 1000 Potency over 15 seconds which just under the average engagement time for a trash pull, this damage isn’t stellar on single targets, but still better than casting Ruin’s or Broil’s; regardless the extra damage will be welcome by your team, and the 5% slow will actually reduce incoming damage on the tank. PLEASE NOTE: Only one AOE placeable can be active at a time, this means Sacred Soil OR Shadow Flare Broil: lvl 54: 190 Potency, 2.5 sec cast. Global cooldown. This is a straight up cast, at lvl 54, you can finally stop casting ruin and Ruin II! However beware; the MP cost will creep up on you as it is 4x Ruin in cost and quickly leave you without resources to heal if you get too caught up doing Dps. This does replace Ruin when you get it so you do still have the option of casting a cheaper instant spell Ruin II in comparison to Broil. Broil II: lvl 64: 230 Potency, 2.5 sec cast. Global cooldown. Broil becomes Broil II, and with it a sizeable potency increase of 40, Broil II is doing decent damage; but still less that Bio II, Miasma I & II, and Shadowflare. The damage is more than Ruin II which we have available still, and Broil II upgrade does not increase the MP cost like it has done in previous iterations, thankfully.
C - Non Healing Important Skills:
These abilities are just as important as healing, remember you have them.
Resurrect: lvl 18: High MP cost revive, 8 sec cast. Global cooldown. No cooldown really, massive cast time, huge MP cost, SMN and SCH share this resurrect, but you gain it at lvl 18 so be careful in the low level roulette Sastasha with squishy tanks. Chain Strategem: lvl 66: Increased rate at which target takes critical hits by 15% for 15 sec, Cooldown 90 sec. Off global cooldown. A huge boon to team damage, especially with crit focused dps, but generally a boon everyone can share and enjoy, super powerful during a dps check or phase skipping, also makes some bosses that might have been hard to clear just a little easier by offering a faster kill. Always try to pop this when it’s off cooldown during a boss and on the tougher mobs of trash pulls.
D - Healing and Healing Related Skills:
Time for your main healing abilities
Physick: lvl 4: 400 Potency, 2.0 sec cast. Global cooldown. Not something to shy away from using, it’s a potent heal for a low cost, and will help you manage your MP through long fights. Adloquium: lvl 30: 300 Potency + 300 Shields (also known as Galvanize) that can be doubled with a crit, Shield lasts 30 sec, 2 sec cast. Global cooldown. This skill is very special and very powerful, the healing however costs 3 times more than Physick for only 200 more effective healing. Why? First, because while the shield takes damage you can heal the health under it with your myriad of abilities. Second, because when you Crit, the shield becomes 2 times the potency based off the Crit bonus. Let me break this healing equivalent of an orgasm down. Example: you cast Adloquium for a 10k crit heal, this generates a 20K shield on that character to absorb damage as well. This means you can either sit and regenerate mana, or perform DPS depending on the scenario before healing again. Succor: lvl35: AOE HP for self and nearby party members, 150 potency, 150 Shields that can be doubled with a crit, Shield lasts 30 sec, 2.5 sec cast. Global cooldown. This is your AOE heal, it has a higher cost than Adloquium by 25% so don’t use it too heavily if you can help it. The heal + shield is good for topping up party members after a big heal, or a regen has be put on them by another healer, or if it’s a stack up mechanic. The extra 150 shields goes on top of a health bar and takes damage first, never forget this, I can’t stress it enough; a WHM or AST in dirunal can regen all they want but they can’t “overheal” like you unless they’re an AST in nocturnal sect. The same effects apply for critical heals here as with Adloquium; this is why the crit stat is so important. Deployment Tactics: lvl 56: Extends Eye for an Eye and Galvanize (shield) effect on target to nearby allies. Cooldown 120 sec. Instant. Off global cooldown. This is a somewhat situational but extremely useful skill and can be cast more often than you think. Cast Eye for an Eye, then Adloquium, and spread the effects from the tank to that dps that keeps getting hit by everything, your team will thank you. What this means is if you Crit heal or not, the shield and Eye for an Eye will be replicated on all nearby party members (range is about the size of Sacred Soil from target). This means any melee dps will likely share this double buff if they’re close to the tank you cast it on; helping spread the damage reduction debuff of Eye for an Eye if hit while protecting them from AOE damage thanks to the shield. Please note if the tank takes damage, this does not subtract from the original total that gets shared, as well if your Crit heal for 10k, the 20k shield will be spread to everyone within range. The only time you shouldn’t use emergency tactics is when the tank buster destroys the shield, it will not be shared if it’s worn off in such a case. So, go grab your hot pocket while you wait for people to start taking damage again (sarcasm; please don’t do this, Dps instead if you’re comfortable or just sit there gawking over how amazing that felt to pull off). Despite Eye for an Eye being a role ability and no longer a SCH/SMN specific ability, it has remained attached to this skill and hence why it’s nearly a must for SCH to take. Emergency Tactics: lvl 58: Turn the next Galvanize (shield) into healing instead of a barrier, Cooldown 20 sec. Instant. Off global cooldown. Say you crit a Adloquium again and get a 10k heal; rather than shielding 20k like a crit should, it instead is uses the 20k shield in addition to normal healing of 10k to reach 30k total healing; if Emergency Tactics was used beforehand. Short of Essential dignity at almost no HP as AST, or Benediction as WHM. Using Emergency Tactics with Adloquium or Succor can make them into some of the most potent healing spells in the game. On a 20 second cooldown, it’s like a stronger lustrate or indomitability with cast time when it crit’s. Dissipation: lvl 60: Order your faerie away, gain 3 stacks of Aetherflow and NO MP & Gain +20% healing Potency - Duration 30 sec - Cooldown 180 sec. Can not re-summon faerie for duration. Instant. Off global cooldown. This ability before stormblood may never see use on your bar, but given the recent increase in content difficulty, or any scenario where you have to carry your co-healer, this ability will save you. What you want to reserve it for is when you’ve pop lucid dreaming and you’re out of mp and aetherflow, and you need heals right now. This is an amazing last resort button. What happens is while you have say 2k MP and can barely cast a succor, you can now cast three lustrate’s for example and save the tank from a buster, or do indomitability and heal everyone from the room wide or stack up mechanic. Meanwhile, you have enough mp to cast physick it’s buffed 20%. This can help you limp by till the next aetherflow comes off cooldown, and post 68, it even causes aetherflow to come off cooldown sooner due to your trait that reduces the time for aetherflow to cooldown with each stack used. With mp refresh on, or aetherflow coming off cooldown, this can save your bacon when the going gets tough and your MP has left the building. Personal recommendation is as soon as you get the MP back, swiftcast resummon your faerie, or wait until a long wind up mechanic where nothing is happening and get your faerie back then. Please note: Dissipation’s potency increase does not affect the healing potency of Lustrate, or Indomitability, or Excogitation; so don’t use this hoping to make those abilities more powerful. Also see Fey Union for Dissipation interaction with the skill.
E - Aetherflow:
This is your life saver, your god/goddess, your savior in the dark, the glimmering salvation of your allies, or scythe to help reap enemies. This is your core mechanic.
Effect: MP regen of 10% + 3 stacks of Aetherflow - Cooldown of 60 seconds. Lvl 68 Trait: 100% chance that when casting a spell using a stack that it reduces cooldown of Aetherflow by 5 seconds. The stacks do not have a duration and are infinite.
These three stacks are gold and the 10% MP regen instantly can prevent a raid wipe as it’s enough to revive one character if your Piety is high enough, even right after being revived yourself if the plan went south. WHM and AST can’t do this, you are a special snowflake with this one spell and can turn a wipe into a recovery, and then a win. While you will want to constantly use your stacks of Aetherflow to get the best use out of them and then pop this to keep your MP up, know this is also the biggest “oh shit” button in the game and you may want to save it for a tough moment if you know one is coming up. As of Stormblood (4.0) at lvl 70, using aetherflow stacks increases your Faerie Gauge by a portion each time you use one for a spell/ability which will be covered more in depth later; so spending is better than holding at that point especially.
F - Aetherflow stack skills:
The below skills use stacks of Aetherflow gained from the skill by the same name described above, utilize these carefully because you only get 3 stacks every 60 seconds roughly. All Aetherflow skills use 1 stack of Aetherflow, and there cannot be more than 3 held at one time. All of these casts are instant as well.
Energy Drain: lvl 6: Absorb damage dealt as MP and HP at a Potency of 150. Instant. Off global cooldown. This is the “oh shit” button to your “oh shit” button when MP is running low. This may be because you’re dpsing really hard, or healing is going well and you don’t quite need Aetherflow stacks to heal and maybe got caught up, or maybe didn’t spend your MP as wisely as you could. You can easily squeeze out an additional 20% MP over 9 seconds and heal yourself at the same time for about 20% of your HP too. Using this with Dissipation when you’re strapped for MP and need to revive someone is one way to recover from a bad scenario and low resources. Bane: lvl 30: Spread the target enemy’s Bio, and Miasma spells with their remaining duration to surrounding enemies + 15% chance to spread the spell with full duration instead of the remainder. Potency of DoT’s is reduced by 20% for second enemy, 40% for third enemy, and 60% for the fourth, and 80% for the fifth and beyond. Cooldown 10 sec, Instant. Off global cooldown. To explain, say your DoTs (Bio II & Miasma) are at 21 seconds remaining on both DoT spells, you have only casted them on one target and a bunch of adds spawn, let us say there is 5 adds on top of the first. You spread the remaining 21 seconds to all 5 mobs if they are within range of the initial target with a 15% chance for each spread spell it resets to full duration. This means you can spread 490 potency worth of spells to the first enemy it hits, followed by the following for each successive enemy hit depreciating (392/294/196/98 onward) without actually having to cast on each one. The total potency for the six mobs for your simply two spells cast becomes 1960. Yes this got a huge nerf in Stormblood if you remember the heaven’s ward days, but it is still saving you a bunch of time and energy you would have spent casting (roughly 18 seconds of spell casting), and ideally you cast Bane well before the 21 second mark, instead at the 24 second mark right after you Bio II & Miasma combo which increases the potency even more so. This is amazingly useful if you find your heals are in good working order and you don’t find yourself using your stacks on healing spells; great for working up to the boss and making trash pulls go faster. Sacred Soil: lvl 45: 10% damage reduction to all friendly targets in the place-able AOE circle - Duration 15 sec, Cooldown 30 sec + 20% chance your next Succor within 15 sec is free. Instant. Off global cooldown. This ability is amazing for mechanic and boss attacks in raids or dungeons as it reduces all damage by 10%, while AST can do this and provide a regen, AST has to be in the center of the mess with this and is unable to perform other actions during the duration of the cast, where SCH can deploy this without being in the fire themselves and still healing allies. WHM can throw down a regen bubble, but it does not prevent 10% of damage which can prevent a wipe where a regen doesn’t. Again, you are flexible where others have to dedicate or lack your utility. While we already explained what Succor is, reflect on the fact that after casting a 10% damage reduction circle you have a chance to free cast an AOE heal + shield spell which proc’s surprisingly often, and can be combo with emergency tactics for a big heal as discussed earlier instead of a shield heal. PLEASE NOTE: Only one AOE placeable can be active at a time, this means Sacred Soil OR Shadow Flare. Lustrate: lvl 50: Heal for 600 Potency, Cooldown 1 sec. Instant. Off global cooldown. You read that right, 600 potency, and without any MP cost, instantly; but you can only cast 3 every 60 seconds assuming you don’t use your Aetherflow stacks on anything else and don’t use Dissipation. The boon this has is the instant cast for emergencies, and the fact you can spread all 3 casts across multiple members of the party at different times of need. Great for topping off a tank after a buster and then healing two dps. The only thing with comparable single target is Tetragrammaton at 700 Potency once every 60 seconds from WHM; and Benefic II from AST at 650 Potency, which while can be cast with global cooldown regularily, can quickly use up all your MP where Lustrate does no such thing. Indomitability: lvl 52: 500 Potency, Cooldown 30 sec. Instant. Off global cooldown. Another instant cast, this time an AOE heal, while WHM wins this round having Cure III on global cooldown and 550 Potency, and AST with Helios for 300 Potency on global cooldown; the fact you can cast this between your own heals without MP costs is where it shines, or weaving it in between other off or on global cooldown casts. For example: Lustrate, Indomitability, Lustrate: One target gets 1700 effective potency heal, and the whole party gets 500 in under 2 seconds. Second example: Cast succor first for 150 heal + 150 shield, on top of the other casts mentioned previously for 2000 effective potency heal in under 5 seconds to single target and 800 effective potency heal to party. It is extremely hard for the other healers to pull off this much burst healing on command so frequently. With the trait on aetherflow at lvl 68, this could happen as often as once every 45 seconds, 30 seconds with Dissipation. Excogitation: lvl 62: Target party member gains Excogitation status effect, when target falls below 50% HP, auto healed for 800 Potency, Cooldown 45 sec. Can not be cast on self. Effect duration 45 seconds. Instant. Off global cooldown. Another Aetherflow ability making your stacks even more precious. This ability can be pre-casted before a tank buster for example, or protect your co-healer, even casted after losing 50% hp for an instant trigger. While more potent than Lustrate by 200 potency, this is more useful in preparing for a bad day than it is for using in the heat of the moment. Note this ability does have a duration of 45 seconds and a cooldown of 45 seconds. This isn’t a bad choice to use on a target when they’re being resurrected, because as soon as their HP show’s they’ll have the effect trigger and heal them up to past half HP; without wasting an Aetherflow stack on Lustrate for a 0 HP heal because they’re “not alive yet” according to the server. If only the tank is taking damage and there is not tank buster coming, avoid using this ability, as your faerie can heal them for a surprising amount and stop the effect from triggering which wastes the stack. With patch 4.05 this now lines up well with Aetherflows recast time so spending at least one stack on Excogitation isn’t a bad idea and helps you get the most of your stacks. G - Faerie Gauge: This gauge is how you cast your lvl 70 ability Aetherpact, to begin the effect of Fey Union, which is slowly depleted by Fey Union. The bar increases by 10 for every aetherflow stack you spend while your Faerie is summoned, and decreases by 10 for every 3 seconds Fey Union is active. Goes up to 100.
One thing worthy of note is if you Dissipate your Faerie, you maintain your Faerie Gauge numbers from before using Dissipate. Say you have 70 Gauge, and you Dissipate, you can resummon your faerie after the Dissipate wears off and still have 70 Gauge. Please note however that you will not gain Faerie Gauge for any Aetherflow actions used while the Faerie was not summoned, and death resets the Faerie gauge.
Rouse does not affect Fey Union potency, only Fey Illumination does. Aetherpact/Fey Union: lvl 70: Order’s faerie to execute Fey Union with a target party member other than self, costs 10 Faerie Gauge per 3 seconds. Instant. Off global cooldown. Healing Potency 480. Turns into Dissolve Union upon casting and activating. 15 Yalm Range. First off this allows you to dedicate a few seconds of healing to a character that needs it while you pay attention to the main target, or it can help work through a tank buster full of boss combos. This is an instant cast but the faerie has to move to stand within 15 yalms of the person it is cast on to maintain the tether, even though it can be cast at a distance of 30 yalms. Keep the range limitation in mind, you either have to be in the thick of the action, or wait for your faerie to fly over and begin casting; both scenario’s demand your faerie to finish casting their current spell/ability before executing which is bad in a clutch heal situations and better suited for preparation. With a potency of 480, it is like a buffed Physick going off constantly on the target, and is very potent as a result.
Dissolve Union: Turns into Aetherpact when cast or when Faerie Gauge reaches 0. Ends the Fey Union ability early without using unspent Faerie Gauge. With a 5 second recast time shared with Aetherpact, you’ll likely spend 20 on the gauge before the effect can be canceled, however this does allow the gauge to be saved for later use instead of all at once. Things that increase Faerie Gauge: & How Much - Energy Drain: 10 - Bane: 10 - Sacred Soil: 10 - Lustrate: 10 - Indomitability: 10 - Excogitation: 10
==============
8 - Role Abilities:
Alright you made it this far, but what the hell should your spare abilities be? You only get 5 so choose wisely! In order of appearance, see below.
Cleric Stance: lvl 8: 5% increase to damage for 15 sec, Cooldown 90 sec. Instant. Off global cooldown. Thanks to the Dev’s, the cleric stance discord is mostly dead, but not whether or not you should be healing or attacking unfortunately. As a SCH you probably will get the most pressure to attack because your Faerie can heal most trash pulls on old game content, and some trash pulls on new content. Please, if you are learning, state you are learning, and no one in their right mind will bug you about this. If anything just do your best and give it a shot, if someone dies/you know you can’t dps during this pull & heal, then don’t dps and state that you can’t dps and heal the current scenario; at least then they can’t say you you’re standing around for “no reason” or “being lazy”. You won’t get better without trying either, so don’t be too afraid about throwing a spell out now or then, even if it’s just a Ruin or Broil, or maybe a Shadowflare. Learning how to dps and heal is fun, and is very rewarding when it comes to end game content. While 5% isn’t much, consider taking this over Break for example if you have everything else you want in the other 4 slots. Break: lvl 12: apply a 40% heavy for 20 seconds, 2.5 sec recast. Global cooldown. I state the recast time because this is one of few Healer Role Abilities that don’t have a huge cooldown. The heavy is nice, good for running away from something trying to kill you, think of break as “the push back that doesn’t actually push anything away.” Of course there will be mobs resistant to this ability which will make it useless, but it can be useful during leveling when something you don’t like attacks you. Protect: lvl 16: Reduces party member physical and magic defense by a %, duration of 30 min, 2.5 sec recast. Global cooldown. This buff means a % of damage taken is reduced, but granted the damage numbers are reduced by a larger amount on people with more physical or magical defense than those with lower numbers, this means using protect on a level sync’d content while your ilvl is unsync’d will cause damage to be reduced by a large amount. I’d say this is mandatory unless your co-healer decides to take it and you both worked out who has what. The percent isn’t precisely 10% anymore or even consistent I found after some math. For example: when cast with 1013 physical defense, physical defense went up to 1164, which is roughly 16% increase. Magick defense however went from 1769 to 2034, which is roughly a 15% increase. Highly recommend taking this if solo healing or designated protect caster in raid/trials. Esuna: lvl 20: Removes a single detrimental effect from target, 1 sec cast, 2.5 sec recast. Global cooldown. This ability now has the cast time of the old SCH ability Leeches with the same name of the WHM ability pre-Stormblood. This is very handy, so make sure someone is on Esuna duty if you are co-healing with someone, both of you have it, or just always have it in your set. You will have to Esuna SOMETHING eventually, and getting caught off guard when the status Doom is cast that needs to be Esuna’d and is going to kill the tank in 15 seconds is not fun. Alternatively, you can summon Selene and keep her on a tight leash (use obey and steady) as she has a group wide Esuna available every 60 seconds. Lucid Dreaming: lvl 24: Refreshes MP with a Potency of 80 every 3 sec for 21 sec (560 total potency), and reduces enmity by ½, Cooldown 120 sec. Off global cooldown. Now you’re probably thinking “I have Aetherflow, I don’t need this-” wrong, this is the second most useful thing you own, next to Aetherflow. Using this ability allows you to cast the high mp cost Broil’s, Adloquium’s and Succors more, and is a good emergency button to pair with Dissipation. If you’re using Dissipation, things are desperate and you need Aetherflow + you probably need a little MP too to make the most of the increased healing you receive from Dissipation, the enmity reduction is a boon because some content you might pull aggro/enmity/hate when you put out the next massive amounts of healing and damage, making it incredibly useful. At the same time, I’d say this is optional, because a SCH can run solely off the MP made from Aetherflow and Energy drain, it’s just a lot more resource monitoring than most are comfortable with. Swiftcast: lvl 32: Instantly cast 1 ability, Cooldown 60 sec. Off global cooldown. Now SCH has a lot of Instant cast abilities if you haven’t noticed; in fact, only their Miasma, Broil, Resurrect, Summoning either Faerie, and 3 heals (Physick/Adloquium/Succor) have any cast time. Really, priority for swiftcast goes as such; Resurrect, summoning faeries, healing spells, and dps abilities dead last. Is it a mandatory ability like Esuna and Protect? Yes and no, you CAN survive without swiftcast, life just sucks when things get really clutch during content. You can skip swiftcast if you know your co-healer, or you know the fight really well and when you can get away with long cast times, or you took spell speed over determination. Eye for an Eye: lvl 36: Cooldown 120 Seconds. Instant. Off global cooldown. Erect a magic barrier around a single party member for 30 seconds, provides a 20% chance that triggers a 10 second debuff, the debuff reduces target damage dealing abilities by 10%. This is a great spell to use in large mob groups as each mob that attacks as the chance to gain the debuff. Additionally the debuff can be reapplied on the enemy if it procs again so the 10 second can work out to be 30-40 seconds of debuff on the enemy if they’re super unlucky. Works on some but not all bosses. I would say this is mandatory for every scholar, more so than protect or esuna for the sole fact your deployment tactics is only half as useful without it, and this is a huge potential damage mitigation ability that should not be overlooked; especially if there is a lot of mobs or boss AOE’s constantly. Largesse: lvl 40: Increases healing magic potency by 20% for 20 sec, Cooldown 90 sec. Instant. Off global cooldown. This is both a necessary and optional skill. If you’ll be using Selene for the dungeon, consider taking this ability, if you’ll be using Eos, consider skipping on this ability. This ability DOES stack with Eos’s increase Fey Illumination 10% heal buff, so it’s not bad to take it with Eos either. Eos can end up with a 50% healing potency increase thanks to rouse, while you can end up with total 30% increase, or 50% if you use Dissipation right after her Fey Illumination ability. I will reiterate however that these potency increases DO NOT affect the healing potency of abilities that use Aetherflow stacks, so only Physick, Adloquium, and Succor benefit; hence the situational nature of its selection. Surecast: lvl 44: Makes next spell that requires cast time ability uninterruptible: the caster becomes immune to attack interrupts, sleep, stun, knockback, and draw in effects for the duration. Duration 10 sec, Cooldown 30 sec. Instant. Off global cooldown. Due to the increased utility of this spell come Stormblood, I’d arguably take it over Swiftcast now if speed doesn’t matter to you. There is now the utility of setting your faerie to heal someone while you do other things like resurrect as well. It can be cast twice as often as Swiftcast, and the added utility of being immune to certain effects for the duration of 10 seconds could be very potent depending on the situation. Useful situations are; literally any knockback, stun, sleep, or draw in ability. Think Palace of the Dead, Bismark EX, Titan EX,Leviathan EX, Sophia HM and EX, casting a big heal while multiple AOE’s go off, the list does go on quite extensively despite how situational it is. Again, a toss up between swiftcast and surecast, so choose what best suits your playstyle, but I would say at least pick one or the other. Rescue: lvl 48: Instantly draw target party member to your side. Range of 30 yalms, Cooldown 150 sec. Instant. Off global cooldown. This ability has some very unique utility to each healer, especially SCH. With your lvl 70 ability being a 15 yalm healing leash, dragging said injured person into range of the leash could be very valuable while you remain focused healing the tank. I know a lot of people with bad pings that would be super happy to have me use this on them to save their butt from an AOE. I see the most use of this being another healer who’s hurt/ player just revived and is in an AOE, possibly a dps like DRG or MNK who can dash right back into the action easily after getting healed or saved from the AOE, and tanks after a swap on something like Odin’s fate where they need healing because they just got the snot kicked out of them. This would be super useful to a tank like a DRK who just used Living Dead and needs immediate intensive healing attention. Very situation, but not to be overlooked, consider it over Cleric Stance and Break, especially if you notice/know someone is struggling with AOE’s. Please note: however, the player being targeted by rescue can dodge, and you can miss. My personal preference: 1>2>3>4>5 Protect>Lucid Dreaming>Eye for an Eye>Largesse>Swiftcast/Surecast OR Protect>Esuna>Lucid Dreaming>Eye for an Eye>Swiftcast/Surecast The reason for the first choice would be if you have Selene as your faerie for reasons explained in the faerie section. Same goes for the second choice, only Eos would be equipped. The other option is to use the first selected 5 if you know there are no debuffs or very few in the current content, or remove Protect if you are co-healing raid content and the other healer is on protect duty. Having two healers with Esuna can be very powerful in heavily debuff focused content like Dun Scaith. Swapping out Eye for an Eye with Esuna or Largesse respectively, on a trial or raid where the bosses are immune to the effects, is a good choice as well.
============== 9: Traits: These are the modifications that take place while you’re leveling, I’ll note important places, but please acknowledge that when I was explaining everything above, I assumed you were lvl 70, and these traits do not stack on top of what I said, I’ll do my best to be clear and simple about what changes each time so you know while you’re leveling why X isn’t healing like it’s supposed to, or Y isn’t as high of damage. Aetherdam: lvl 6/20/40: Gain +1 aetherflow stack So at lvl 6, you get a total of 1 stack of aetherflow, at lvl 20 you have 2, and when you hit lvl 40 you have 3. This is the resource explained above which is used for your unique healing abilities. Enhanced Intelligence & Mind: lvl 20/40/60: Increases Mind and Intelligence stat by a total of 8/16/24 Maim and Mend: lvl 20/40: Basic action damage and HP restoration effect of caster and faerie increased by a total of 10%/30% Corruption Mastery: lvl 26: Bio I upgrades to Bio II, simple yeah? Broil Mastery: lvl 54/64: Ruin becomes Broil, pretty simple. Later on Broil becomes Broil II Quickened Aetherflow: lvl 68: 100% chance that Aetherflow’s cooldown time is reduced by 5 seconds upon executing an Aetherflow Resource ability. Only trait that really needs explaining, this makes it a huge deal to try and spend your stacks instead of holding onto them, and with some of the added utility added in Stormblood you have more flexibility now. Don’t be afraid to use one or two stacks and save 1 for the last few seconds of Aetherflow’s cooldown to see if you get a shorter cooldown or not. At a 5 sec reduction to a 60 second cooldown skill, you can cut Aetherflow’s cooldown by as much as half! Using Dissipation and spending those Aetherflow stacks in conjunction with normal Aetherflow stacks can make the cooldown extremely short and reward you with 9 stacks in 30 seconds and the 20% MP that comes with two triggered Aetherflow’s. ==============
10 - Pets/Fairies:
This deserves its own section just due to the sheer amount of stuff going on.
A - How the Hell Does This Thing Work: Know your faerie scales off your Mind stat for heals AT THE TIME OF SUMMONING. A popular thing SMN’s do is pop a high level Int potion before summoning their Egi to fight, you can do the same with a Mind potion right before summoning your faerie in addition to food buffs with Mind. When the buff runs out, if the faerie/Egi is still alive, the buff persists until the faerie/Egi is summoned again, or dies and needs to be re-summoned. Your faerie also gains any AOE team buffs performed by the faerie only but not others. Yes the faerie gains the buff by their name, but NO the faerie does not actually gain the effect; I’ve done testing and proven abilities like Bole or Sacred Soil on a faerie will have it still take same damage as without. Putting your faerie on Obey and Steady is highly recommended to ensure abilities are activated at the most opportune times; however this takes a lot of practice to achieve, leaving them on Sic isn’t terrible it’s just not optimal. Please note: Faeries will cast whatever ability you tell them to after their current task is finished, if you line up two spells make sure one has cast time first or the faerie will cast Skill 1>Embrace>Skill2 instead of Skill 1>Skill 2 if someone needs healing. This issue is most prominent with Eos when doing Healing buff > AoE heal, so be quick on the draw or sadly you’ll have to wait.
B - Pet related skills and traits: Pet Reduced Damage: (Not shown) Pets/faeries take less damage from AOE’s and direct attacks than normal characters due to their lack of armor and I believe also the bad response time. This is a unwritten rule that you won’t find plainly stated anywhere, this is all from player based observations. AOE’s especially they receive a huge damage reduction, while the exact number is unconfirmed, most AOE’s will do minimal damage to your pet/faerie with a few exceptions, some AOE’s won’t even touch it since your faerie can “fly”. Rouse: lvl42: Increases all damage/HP restoration done by faerie by 40%, faerie becomes immune to stun, sleep, bind, and heavy. Duration of 20 Seconds, Cooldown 60 sec. Instant. This is like the humane way to give your Faerie steroi- I mean… More magic! A 40% increase on a 250 Potency heal you’re not paying MP for every 3 seconds, means 350 potency for free on top of your 400 potency Physick. Now every 3 seconds you’re actually healing for 750 instead of 650 for the price of the cheapest heal all three healer classes get. Very useful!
C - Eos: The Wonder Faerie
Eos is the healing Fairie version of the summon spell variety, she focuses on defense, AoE heal over time, and increasing healing done.
Embrace: 250 Potency heal, 2 second cast, 3 second recast. Eos will heal a target automatically if they fall before 80% HP with this ability, please keep this in mind if your tank is doing a big pull. Either put your faerie away, or constantly spam “Obey” while the pet is on “Steady”, this tactic can be done on both faeries. Good potency heal that can be paired with your healing for some large number. Whispering Dawn: Gradually restores HP of faerie and all nearby party members with a Potency of 100 x 7 ticks = 700 Potency over 21 seconds. Cooldown 60 sec. “Instant”. This is the only regen heal available to you, if Eos is not on steady and obey she will just do this whenever she wants. Fine for leveling up to 60 or so, but you’re going to have to start micromanaging her at some point to get the most out of her, especially endgame raids, extreme trials, or new content dungeons. I put “Instant” because there is about a 1 second cast time, and any orders before it finished will prevent the full cast from being completed, the cooldown is thankfully refunded if the spell does not go off. Fey Covenant: Increase magic defense by 20% for faerie and nearby party members, Lasts 20 seconds, Cooldown 120 sec. “Instant”. Short of being a dark night or using virus, this is really the only way to reduce the magic damage a party takes, again, a huge reason you should control your faerie instead of leaving it on auto; timing this to a magic attack from a boss is a huge life saver on MP and can make the squishier members survive things they shouldn’t. I put “Instant” because there is about a 1 second cast time, and any orders before it is finished will prevent the full cast from being completed, the cooldown is thankfully refunded if the spell does not go off here as well. Fey Illumination: Increase spell based HP restoration of self and nearby party members by 10%, Lasts 20 seconds, Cooldown 120 sec. Instant. Short and sweet, a huge boon to you and the co-healer, but shared Dissipation/Largesse drawback; this DOES NOT affect Lustrate, Indomitability, or Excogitation. This does affect things like an AST’s Essential Dignity or Benefic II, and a WHM’s Cure III or Assize, very potent heals that 20% makes a big difference on. For you this affects Physick, Adloquium, and Succor, but it also boosts your faerie. Combine a Physick and Embrace can reach an 775 Potency heal every 3 seconds for a very cheap cost. Conversely, your 10k Adloquium Crit heals 11k instead, with a 22k shield instead of the 20k shield, combine Emergency Tactics, and you have a 33k heal.
D - Selene: The Multi-Tool Selene is debuff and buff, essentially a poor man’s Ast with some extra utility missing from the other healers. Embrace: 250 Potency heal Same as Eos Silent Dusk: Silence target - Cooldown 40 sec. Instant. I don’t know what we feed Selene, but honestly she is the only pet I leave on “do what you want” mode at all. She will literally only use Silence when it is applicable to something nearby you are attacking having a silence capable ability. Honestly, she deserves some credit here, a Faerie cookie, a pay raise, something. You can literally skip the odd mechanic here and there thanks to her. With a 40 second cooldown, it’s the fastest faerie ability recast aside from Embrace for Eos and Selene. Fey Caress: Remove a single detrimental effect from nearby party members, Cooldown 60 sec. Instant. Okay, if you didn’t think she deserved a treat before, pretty sure she does now. While on auto she may waste this, but she’s still trying to save you from using leeches on the whole party, kudos for trying? If you have her on obey and steady however, you can control and perform the skill at the optimal time and save yourself a massive migraine, even ignore a mechanic; and not when the tank has a poison stack of 1 and everyone one else is ok (she will do this on sic, so beware). Fey Wind: Increase nearby party members weapon skill, spell cast, and recast times by 3% for 30 seconds, Cooldown 60 sec. Instant. Most underappreciated exceptional skill any faerie has, possibly any pet in the game. If you’re running dual scholar, please, please, please consider having one of you decide to use Selene and the other use Eos. 3% more damage for 30 seconds every 60 seconds is a lot in the grand scheme of things; alternately if you’re good for heals and need to pass a Dps check, have your co-scholar and you both use Selene and time it perfectly in tandem for constant buff. That’s a 1.5% (for one Selene)/3% (for 2 Selene’s) damage increase every minute, and if timed with a SMN’s Dreadwyrm Trance, or a BLM’s Enochain- really any DPS and their damage buffs or modes, it’s amazing. That 1.5%/3% a minute over 5 minutes becomes 7.5%/15% more damage done, that may very well be enough to push phases fast enough, kill the boss before the rage wipe mechanic, really just strengthen the party as a whole. While a AST has this capability, it’s 10% for 20 seconds to the whole party as either damage or recast times that may or may not affect your Job, and only if they draw the right cards to share the cast with everyone which is a stroke of dumb luck at times and draws are 30 seconds apart meaning you may not get a group buff like this for another 2 to 3 minutes. Selene is a reliable Dps increase and deserves some love for that, you can leave her on Auto for fights with no debuff mechanic.
==============
11 - Rotations:
What you’re ideally going to be doing, but is always subject to change based on the needs of the party and what you are able to do with your current MP and Aetherflow.
A - Gaging:
Adloquium the tank, stop and gauge the dps and tank. Did they take a lot of damage, or are the shields still up, did the mobs die? Wait till the shield’s break, counting from the first hit; how long did it take? Based on your answers to these questions you’ll either want to top off with heals, wait and see how much damage the tank can really take, or swap to attacking.
B - DPS:
S1: Shadow flare then Miasma II if 3 or more enemies, otherwise skip to S2 > S2: Miasma > S3: Bio II > S4: Is there a bunch of enemies (3-5 or more)? Have Aetherflow to spare? Then Bane or skip to S5 > S5: Is tank still okay? Broil until damage of time expires.
C- Healing:
Sorry. I can’t really tell you what the healing rotation is because that is a scholar’s best boon, there is no clear rotation, there’s only the situation at hand you will have to learn how to handle each one and ones you didn’t know existed. Other healers have the same problem, but Scholar more so. If anything, Adloquium then Physick is your friend.
==============
12 - Stratagem:
Here is where I note ability combo’s I’ve learned or theorized, and state the situations I’ve used them in.
Strong AOE DoT heal Ability Order: Rouse, Fey Illumination, Whispering Dawn Use: Good for upcoming AOE damage, or just topping everyone off while dpsing. At ilvl 230 healing went from 800hp per tick to 1.2k per tick .
No Aetherflow - Heals needed Ability Order: Fey Illumination, Largesse, Rouse, Emergency Tactics, Adloquium/Succor Use: Aetherflow is on cooldown, but MP is high, the tank/party needs a big heal but you’re either solo healing or the co-healer kicked the bucket. Can replace Adloquium with Succor. Congrats, at ilvl 230 assuming you crit, you just healed for 21k (7k if you didn’t crit which is a Lustrate heal practically), that’s literally my DRK’s HP pool at ilvl 210 shy of 1k and if you have your Faerie set to co-heal, you just made them survive Living Dead’s effect (DRK has 22k HP even at ilvl 210).
Recharge Faerie Gauge/MP - Warning: High Aetherflow Consumption Ability Order: Aetherflow, spend stacks(Energy Drain if not other abilities), If Eos: Fey Illumination, Dissipation, Largesse, Energy Drain (if low MP or spend stacks accordingly) and/or Lucid Dreaming (spend any stacks, or use Energy Drain for them), if MP is ok, hold onto stacks and use Dissipate in addition to Largesse to heal through faerie absence, resummon faerie, spend stacks, Aetherflow, spend stacks (again, Energy Drain or other abilities). Use: This will build up your Faerie Gauge extremely fast, in as little as 30 seconds if you’re lucky and you can gain 90 points on the gauge. You’re also recovering an absurd amount of MP with this rotation. 20% MP for both aetherflow’s + what you gain for the 560 potency MP refresh of lucid dreaming, and if you used Energy Drain to spend all 9 stacks of aetherflow roughly 1350 Potency restore of MP & HP for self in those 9 stacks alone.
Really big AOE/tank buster coming - Healing needed before and after Ability Order: Rouse, Fey Illumination, if you have Aetherflow stacks spend them on Lustrate topping people off (alternate lustrate, eye for an eye, lustrate if this is the case), Eye for an Eye, Whispering Dawn, Dissipation, Adloquium, Deployment Tactics, Sacred Soil, wait for damage, Indomitability/Lustrate, Lustrate lowest HP/tank, Emergency tactics, Succor. Use: Heal like you mean it and cry for remainder of Dissipations duration till you can Swiftcast/Surecast/long cast a faerie summon; hopefully you have a co-healer while you spend 5 seconds summoning your pet if you do it the long way.
Maximum Eos Overdrive Ability Order: Rouse, Fey Illumination, Aetherpact Use: Simple, this makes your faerie’s heals very strong on single target, almost scary. What you can do is throw in a Whispering Dawn right before Aetherpact and your faerie will be competently healing everyone around you for roughly 20 seconds. With the Faerie Gauge depleting by 10 every 3 seconds at a total 60 gauge, the faerie would be able to make full use of the buff time.
============== 13 - Macro’s: Alright so below I’m going to highlight some things I’ve discovered, useful macro’s that make life easier. Most correspond to controlling your faerie more effectively with less effort. “Attack”: This Macro makes all your attacks attack the target of your target. Why? Because that means you can stay locked on the tank/dps for quick healing, and always attack what the tank/dps is attacking so you never accidentally steal aggro; this also allows you to use the same button to attack things on your own outside of instanced content. Just replace the ability names with the attack you want and have fun. (Can do this for Shadowflare too, remove third line, and it will cast on tank/dps/or the enemy in solo combat, but I prefer not to in case mobs make an oblong shape that requires more finesse.) /micon ruin /ac ruin /ac ruin Please note: I know it’s not rocket science to do this, but if you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it This is a huge quality of life improvement to healers of any job, especially console players. Just make sure to have a focus target macro too so you can watch the boss cast times/spell names. “Faerie! Behave!”: A macro I made to control my faerie more when needed, this interrupts them healing say, Dps with 75% HP left, and opts to heal the tank you are targeting with 40% HP left, because the AI for faerie is not always the brightest. /micon physick /ac physick /pac “Heel” /pac “embrace” Please note: Replace “Physick” with whatever healing ability you would like to pair Eos’ or Selene’s Embrace with yours, good for adding to Esuna for example; this way you not only remove poison, but heal the damage it did. Use to Embrace under a Succor or Adloquium on a priority target that needs a little more attention than the rest of the group. The faerie heals for free, do not forget this! Be sure if you do this to space out your casting and don’t just mash pyhsick, this is why I say cast speed is a low priority early in the guide as you will fall out of sync with Eos/Selene as your recast is roughly 2.5 seconds, and their embrace is a 3 second recast cooldown beginning from start of cast. “Faerie! Help?”: A slight variation on the previous macro; this has your faerie help you if they’re not doing anything else, which is rare, but helpful. /micon physick /ac physick /pac “embrace” “Dance!”: Because it almost looks like you’re dancing with your faerie at times. What this does is pairs Aetherflow with Rouse; this makes it so when you give yourself MP and Aetherflow stacks, Eos also gains a boost to basic healing skills so you can space out the Aetherflow more evenly or give MP time to regenerate by healing less because Eos/Selene is healing more. /micon Aetherflow /ac aetherflow /wait 1 /ac Rouse Please note: The added bonus is both of these are on a 60 second cooldown, and instant casts, so you can move while casting it and not interrupt. You could add an “Obey” for your faerie at the beginning, middle, or end, to get them to follow you if you want to use this as an additional “Move faerie, you’re gonna get hit.” button as well while the skill is on cooldown for double purpose. “Useful Faerie Macros!”: Biggest issue with Eos/Selene is they do whatever the hell they want really, even on “obey” and “steady”; they keep healing anyone below 80% hp instead of casting the skill you want when you want it. Make the following macros instead to not only control Eos and Selene simultaneously without switching hotbars OR making an extra 4 macros. On console you may have to turn off switching to pet bar automatically for this to work best. Obey!: /micon “Steady” pet /pac obey /wait 1 /pac steady Embrace: /micon embrace pet /pac heel /pac embrace AOE DOT / Silence: /micon “Whispering dawn” pet /pac heel /pac “Silent Dusk” /pac “Whispering dawn” M Res / Rmv Debuff: /micon “Fey covenant” pet /pac heel /pac “Fey Covenant” /pac “Fey Caress” Heal Buff / ATK Spd: /micon “Fey Illumination” pet /pac heel /pac “fey Illumination” /pac “fey Wind” Please note: As long as you remember/reteach yourself what Selene’s spells look like, this is extremely handy to use so you don’t access your pet bar and slow yourself down when you could be casting; or use 8 macros for what you can do in 4. Alternatively you can set up 2 Macro’s in the following style to replace your summon spells that remap your skills depending on which faerie is out. Summon Eos: /micon “Summon” /ac “Summon” /hotbar pac “Fey Illumination” 2 4 /hotbar pac “Fey Covenant” 2 3 /hotbar pac “Whispering dawn” 2 2 ==============
14 - Hotbars:
As a show to demonstrate my layout, see the below picture and the reasoning behind the madness:
The top row is my pet bar, you will have to click these abilities manually. Second from top (Hotbar 3) is Shift + Numbers/symbols “1 to =” across the top of my keyboard. Second from bottom (Hotbar 2) is Ctrl + Numbers/symbols “1 to =” across the top of my keyboard. And the bottom row (Hotbar 1) is numbers/symbols “1 to =” across the top of my keyboard.
The skills here constantly shift around, it would be impossible to always keep this up to date, but you can use the theory of: Healing bottom row, pet control and casting buff and resurrect middle row, attacks top row.
==============
15 - Gaming Gear/Work Around:
I do have a Logitech G600 mouse, highly recommend it if you have 50$-60$ to spare, definitely if you see it on sale. Also have used a Razer Naga for similar effect. Can also switch out numbers for numpad and play with both hands on keyboard, just remap Z, X, C, and V on your keyboard or similar to your thumb’s comfort so you can use your thumb for the first 3x3 set of squares, so on and so forth. I even setup a key to make the bottom hotbar switch between hotbar 1 and 4 with 1 being full control and 4 being partial control versions of my heal macros for my faerie. You can then setup / and * to cycle targets close to far and - and + to cycle party members up and down with Enter being “select”, you can always get to say by doing “alt+s” and do the same for other chats like linkshells, party, and FC chat. I did this for a while when my mouse was damaged…
Have I spent a lot of time optimizing this to be the best for me? Yes, yes I have. But this may not work for you; so please try, comment, share, and enjoy.
==============
16 - The End Please Like or Reblog if you found this guide helpful, it helps me gauge the interest for making future guides of different classes.
Alright, that’s it, good freaking luck, see you all later…
It’s done…
Go home…
The shows over….
Alright, fine well, Yeku says we might do one for other classes if people request it, but I you didn’t hear that from me…
Shhh, now go…!
