HEALTHY SEAS - #FROMWASTETOWEAR

When looking into brands and products that are using ghost fishing nets as a sustainable material they were all linked by the Healthy Seas organisation. It is an organisation that aims to clean the ocean of waste, in particular ghost fishing nets, located across the world. Their identity is built on the idea of waste to wear in a sustainable way

They work in 3 pillar which include;

Marine protection - they recover fishing nets with volunteer divers, prevent marine litter and raise awareness

ECONYL regeneration system - the waste nets are taken to the aquafil plant for transformation where they are combined with discarded nylon to transform into ECONYL regenerated nylon for use by fashion and interior industries

Brand new products - sustainable textiles are now able to be produced 

Healthy Seas is a great organisation as it ables me to see how bob & cooters products would be produced within a real life context. Maybe I should link bob & cooter to healthy seas like many other sustainable fishing net fashion brands so that bob & cooter gives a real life and authentic impression.
