personally i'm obsessed with your headcanon that quint is a superfan of moby dick and i'd love to know more about why you think he connects to the story so much

It mostly started as kind of a joke when I read about a scrapped scene in Jaws (which never came to be filmed) of Quint watching Moby Dick in a theatre and laughing maniacally at Captain Ahab's speech. I thought it was a funny concept so I decided to incorporate it into my own personal Jaws lore. And then I actually took the time to read Moby Dick and went, "Huh. Neat."

If you think about it, Jaws is fairly reminiscent of Moby Dick. Not so much so that I would consider it a retelling, but just enough that it's obvious that Peter Benchley (and probably Steven Spielberg too to some extent) took inspiration from it. Quint himself is similar to Captain Ahab, and the ending of Jaws (particularly the novel) has a lot of similarities to the ending of Moby Dick.

All that being said, it just makes sense to me that Quint would relate to Moby Dick to some extent. Quint himself is a seafaring individual -- one that most likely came from a family of even more seafarers and was introduced to the book at a relatively young age (either through a family member or someone he knew growing up). It was definitely something that grew on him over time though, rather than immediately after his first reading of it. The more life fucked him up, the more Quint came to appreciate Moby Dick and understand it. I also have this moderately fucked up headcanon that Captain Ahab was initially Quint's least favorite character when he was young -- so much so that he was moderately terrified of him -- only for Quint to later end up becoming Captain Ahab in a way.

His nerves from earlier that night had finally faded (the alcohol that Mercedes had snuck in had definitely helped with that), and although Blaine hadn't exactly been expecting to be kissing people tonight for a dare tonight (not anyone that wasn't his date, at least), he didn't really see a reason not to do it. "Alright, fine. You're on, Yodeling Kiddo." He chewed on his lower lip as he quickly scanned the room to see if there were any potential candidates nearby. Spotting Elliott in the crowd, he figured that he would be a good place to start. Familiar territory. "Could you please hold this for me? I'll be right back," he said, handing Kurt his drink with a wink before he made his way over to Elliott.

Kissing Elliott wasn't anything new, but he did still make sure that the other man was okay with it (they were both here with a date tonight, after all). When Elliott consented, Blaine placed a hand on his cheek and leaned in for a quick kiss; short, sweet and confident.

After saying goodbye to Elliott, he decided to approach Brody. Blaine would be lying if he said he'd never imagined what it would be like to kiss him. Brody, too, gave him the go-ahead, and Blaine stood on his tiptoes before pressing a firm kiss to his lips.

Two down, one more to go. Blaine looked over at Kurt for a moment, contemplating. Instead of finding a third person to kiss, he made his way back over to his date, a hint of a grin tugging at his lips. "Two kisses, as promised. As for the third one..." He looked down at Kurt's lips and leaned in slowly, waiting for his date to do the same before he pressed his lips against his.

maxine took a deep breath as she looked down at her son, he looked just like brody, a constant reminder of the person she ran away from, he was part of the reason she had decided to track down brody. she gave the little hand a small squeeze before knocking on the door. part of her hoped he wasn’t home, part of her hoped he wouldn’t answer the door and she could leave with the consolation that she at least tried, but he was home that was obvious as she heard the door nob twist. “hi.” maxine said quietly, her nervousness going up ten fold as she saw him.

brody has never missed a days practise in his life. even before going pro, hockey was the one thing he gave constant commitment too, true dedication. he had suffered through days even when he felt like his body was going to quit on him. this morning, however, something felt different. half the night was spent laying awake whilst trying to pretend he was asleep. his thoughts wouldn't stop, wouldn't slow. kept on swirling around aimlessly. the first thing he'd done when he'd gotten out of bed today was send a text saying he wouldn't be there. then he went on to start his morning as he would any other, with a quick shower and then into the kitchen for a coffee. he sits and waits, knowing alek won't be far behind when he realizes brody isn't going anywhere. he feels his boyfriend presence, but he keeps his eyes fixed on the liquid in his cup that he's yet to touch. he feels vulnerable instantly, a shaky breath inhaled and then slowly exhaled. but deep down brody knows he either has to really, truly walk away ( which time and time again has proved to be difficult ) or he has to try and open up, let alek in even just a little bit in order to see if he can really do this. before he can't talk himself out of it, he forces himself to let the words out, body visibly tensing as he does. " i was fourteen when she died . . . my mom. we argued that morning. " there's a pause, one that's longer than expected as he thinks back, unlocks the memories he's kept hidden away. finally he looks up, pushes out the barstool beside him for alek. he continues hesitantly. " she was supposed to come to my hockey game, it was a pretty big one. i was being made team captain. but my brother — my twin — miles, he uh was crying the night before because he had a violin recital the same day. said he needed her, couldn't do it without her. she decided to go with him, she always did. usually i didn't care. she didn't care much for sport, they had music in common. but just this one time i really wanted her there for my thing. and i made her feel like shit, " he says the last part quietly, eyes slipping shut, but it's no use. " i did, i know i did. i can still see the look on her face now. and then we won, and i was celebrating while my mom was dying and i didn't know. i had no idea. i knew something was wrong when my grandad showed up, i've never seen someone look so broken before. i didn't want to believe him, i — " brody shakes his head, rubs a hand over his face in attempt to keep back any tears that threaten to form. he hasn't cried since the day it happened, is afraid that if he lets himself, it'll open up a floodgate. " i told myself then i'd never get attached to anyone. that if i didn't, then nothing could hurt me again. and i hadn't—— i hadn't until . . . " well, he can't say it. but he thinks it. until you.

five times protective ( alek & brody )

it was a complete overreaction. the man at the bar had once shoved brody for getting in his way, but it wasn't something that alek could stand for. so after escorting brody back to his apartment, making sure he got to bed okay (he would really have to figure out a way to convince him to slow down), alek ventured back out until he found the man they had met at the bar. he was drunk too, didn't even recognize alek when he approached him. didn't remember him when alek asked him about brody - which only served to heighten his anger; how could he not remember him? it was done so quickly that it almost seemed like he hadn't reached out with both hands and snapped his neck, but the body now crumpled as his feet said otherwise.

it was cold that night - alek hadn't wanted to go out, but brody insisted and who was he to deny him what he wanted? he would pretend, act grumpy, but in the end he would always give in. and as always, alek had planned for everything - so wehn brody complained about the cold, alek took the jacket from his shoulders (that he didn't even need) and wrapped it around the other man, a soft smile on his mouth, "there you go. have fun."

he wasn't a stalker. sometimes he just checked in on brody without actually letting him know he was across the street and it was a good thing that he did. brody was crossing the street and didn't see a car speeding around the car; alek did see it from his perch on top of a nearby building. he didn't waste any time - he had never hidden himself from brody (who... seemed to be clueless anyways) and he wasn't going to start now, when it was life or death. in the blink of an eye, he was pulling brody from the road, clutching him to his chest so tightly that he wasn't sure that there wouldn't be bruises left under his fingertips. practiced panic was on his face (that might have been more real than he wanted to admit), "jesus christ, brody. pay more attention."

alek was more than well aware of the draw of his boyfriend - he was beautiful and it was clear each time they went out and longing stares followed him through the room. and as always, alek's hand was placed on his lower back, meeting each one of the stares with a heated glare. his voice lowered to a whisper, so it could only be heard by brody, "i could kill them all for staring at you."

if you asked alek how he thought he protected brody - he wouldn't say any of these things. he wouldn't even think about them as anything but what you do when you love someone. alek believed the way that he protects brody everyday is by staying. no matter how many times brody tells him the same things over and over, no matter how much it hurts to hear them every time - alek would choose to stay, despite brody's attempts to push him away. in doing so, in his eyes, alek was protecting brody from himself.

With her schedule absolutely clear for the following day, the best thing she could think to do was go on an absolute bender. If things got too crazy, she was sure one of the employees at the bar and grille would alert Jette and he'd come to her aide if need be, but tonight as she sat at the bar and ordered her third glass of sangria, Juliette couldn't help but finally feel the effects of what stress relief felt like when one indulged. Pile 1

Houdini - Dua Lipa

Pile 1, the first thing I notice in your person is their eyes. It's not necessarily about the color - although it could be that they're a particularly pretty color - but more that they are very expressive. It also seems that for most of you, this person has really big eyes. Perhaps round or almond shaped too. Think something like Al Pacino, Cate Blanchett, Liv Tyler, Kurt Cobain or Adrien Brody for example. They can convey a lot of emotion with just their eyes. I also see that some of them have crow's feet when they smile too, which is really endearing honestly.

Another thing that I pick up from your person is that they seem to have a vaguely sad vibe to them. Do you know that meme "my poor little meow meow"? Their vibe is a bit similar in a way. They just look like they're sad and you have the urge to take care of them. Again, think a bit about someone like Kurt Cobain or Adrien Brody.

When it comes to their body they're tall or, at least, they give the impression of being tall and broad. Especially for men, they have broad shoulders even if they aren't muscled or chubby. For the women I also think that they tend to have broad shoulders and a narrower waist, but their most prominent feature seems to be their chest. They may have big boobs or they tend to use clothes that emphasize their boobs. I think that even for the men, their chest is quite prominent.

When it comes to vibes it's mostly what I've already said your person has this "please love me" vibe. Despite this, they're capable of commanding attention and they tend to look quite elegant. It may be that they have a lot of pisces placements or a pisces rising. In general, I think that they're attractive, but not like conventionally attractive or Hollywood attractive if that makes sense.

I also think that your person shows themself differently to different people. With you they may feel more comfortable to be a "poor little meow meow" while with others they're more closed off and may even appear a bit cold. They are very conventionally attractive (I feel like especially when it comes to their face), but they don't really see themselves life this. In fact, I think that they're quite insecure about their appearance. This almost feels like body dysmorphia honestly (and for some of you it could be related to them being trans, while for others it could be related to an eating disorder). The reality is that they can't see themselves the way other people see them.

They have really thick and luscious hair - it reminds me a bit of Carlos Sainz or Ben Barnes for the men - and most likely it's either wavy or straight. For most of you they have rather long hair, the men tend to have up to shoulder length hair, while for the women it can come down to their waist. When it comes to color, most likely it's dark, but for some of you it could be bleached.

Most of them seem to have tanned or dark skin, this isn't really about skin color, if they have black skin for example, it's really dark. For the people with lighter-skin they have a tendency to blush a lot or get flushed (especially after drinking). They also have really pretty teeth, probably very straight or they just look endearing, and a pretty mouth too. Despite having a pretty mouth not all of them have thick lips, it's more about the shape of their mouth. I feel like they tend to smile a lot. It kind of reminds me of Julia Roberts a bit who is known for her smile.

Some celebrities that have similar vibes to them are Carlos Sainz, Julia Roberts, Anok Yai, Adut Akech, Dominik Szoboszlai and Michael B. Jordan. 

When it comes to their vibes they seem to be youthful and always in their own world. It's almost like they aren't really paying attention to what's going on around them. They also seem to be a bit introverted or closed-off in public, despite all the eyes that they attract. If surrounded by friends they may be a bit more open and might be cracking up jokes with them. No matter what they seem to be really nice and will always give a small smile to other people, like the waiter at the restaurant for example.

Pile 3, your person doesn't seem to be very tall. They're either medium height or actually small. It may also be that their vertical line is short even if they are in fact on the taller side they seem shorter than they really are. But, the most noticeable thing about them is that they seem to always have a serious expression on their face - some of them even have a resting bitch face. I think that they have very expressive eyebrows, they may even move them without meaning to. You'll be able to tell what they think by their eyebrows. Like, they may have look super serious almost as if they're upset but by their eyebrows you can actually tell that they're just relaxed. Speaking of their eyebrows they also seem to be very full or bushy. I don't think that there's a monobrow here, but it could also be the case.

When it comes to their face your FS has really strong facial features, especially their jaw and nose. The jaw reminds me a bit of Angelina Jolie for the women and for the men it seems to be a bit of a mix between Timothée Chalamet and Henry Cavill. For some it's more square while for others it's sharper. The noses here tend to be either aquiline or roman, but either way they're also quite prominent. Think a bit Gisele Bundchen, Jenny Slate or Alba Flores for example, or Hrithik Roshan and Dev Patel.

I don't know how to explain it but they also have a very earthy vibe, like tanned skin, freckles, calloused hands, it's like they just came back from working in the garden, if that makes sense. They also have brown or black hair, and the men tend to have beards (nothing too big though). They also have super clear and healthy looking skin.

Besides the eyebrows I also think that they have really noticeable hands. Their hands may be big or just very pretty in general, they may be veiny too. Their nails are healthy and well kept, and they probably have long and thick fingers. The way they move their hands may also be very attractive, like their gestures or just by being very dextrous with their hands. When it comes to their body they tend to be thicker or chubbier, I'm seeing like amazing and really thick thighs for both men and women. I also feel like your FS exercises a lot or they move a lot because of their work and so they tend to be chubby with a lot of muscle underneath.

In general, I think that their vibe is just very chill. They have a "don't fuck with me" vibe, but they're just doing their own thing and don't really want anyone to bother them. They also seem to be very hard-workers and earthy as I said, like down-to-earth too. These aren't people with delusions of grandeur.

Crazy - Aerosmith

Pile 4, this is my androgynous and gender non-conforming pile. If you're familiar with the Kibbe body types or essences, these people would be the Ethereal or Angelic essence. Do you know the Lord of the Rings elves? Yeah, basically that's the vibe. Their features are delicate and they can look a bit otherworldly. Think of Tilda Swinton, Willow Smith, Halle Bailey or Lisa Bonnet. For the men you have again Lee Pace and Orlando Bloom as elves, but also Eddie Redmayne, Cillian Murphy, Jared Leto and Ethan Torchio. For me, Ethan Torchio from Maneskin is the best example for men here. He embodies the facial features and hair that makes him look quite androgynous, and also a bold and avant-garde style.

In general, your person tends to look a bit flirty or mischievous. Again, they have this elf or fairy vibe to them. They tend to look playful and approachable. This isn't the type of person you'd be afraid of talking to, they just seem super nice and open. 

No matter the skin color your person also tends to be pale, this is more their complexion really. Some of them may look a bit like vampires think Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in Interview with a Vampire. They also have clear skin and the men tend not to have beards. When it comes to hair it tends to be long, especially for the men. For the women, I actually think that they may tend to have shorter hair or even a shaved head.

Their faces are beautiful, but not really conventionally attractive. They have something otherworldly about them that just pulls you to them. They may also have asymmetrical faces, especially when it comes to the eyes or jaw. Also, speaking of eyes they have really intense eyes. The type that seems that they can look right through you. Besides pile 1, this is the pile that seems like they may have light eyes.

When it comes to their body shape they are leaner instead of muscly or thick. They may have muscle definition, but they're just lean and maybe a bit lanky. They seem like they have a high vertical line or they're tall. In general though, they're just long. They have long legs, long arms, even long fingers.
