Most of the time that Yas had days off they were spent productively or at least out in nature doing something active. That afternoon, however, was not one of those times. Yas had been holed up in a corner of her couch for the last eight hours binge watching a season of Below Deck, dead to the world around her. It was only when she heard her stomach growling that she realized she probably needed to move at least once. Grabbing a snack and her phone, Yas trudged out the front door, still dressed in her pajamas to take a quick stroll around the neighborhood. Rather than letting her time be spent just enjoying the walk, her phone was almost immediately pulled up to the next episode in the season as she made off down the road towards one of the neighborhood parks.

Distracted as she was by the phone in her hand, Yas didn't hear the little patter of feet coming her way from the playground she was passing. The surprise hug attack from the young girl took her by complete surprise, a yelp leaving her lips before she realized what was happening. "Oh, goodness gracious, Maggie, hi," she greeted, gathering herself back as she tucked her phone away to stoop down and open her arms to give Maggie a hug. Her throat cleared a bit, eyes shifting down at the pajamas she'd stupidly opted to walk out in, not at all eager to see Sage looking as dressed down as she was. There was a slight flush of embarrassment in her cheeks as she looked up at Sage walking up towards her after Maggie. "Hey, uh - hi. You guys over at the park hanging out?"

There were a lot of animals that Tyler loved, but walking past the petting zoo had very quickly taught her that llamas were not on that list. A rogue llama from the petting zoo had managed to reach over the small fence, taking the pretzel Ty was about to eat right out of her hands before quickly trotting away. "Yo, what the fuck?" Tyler yelled out, turning around to face it, a bewildered look on her face. "You fucking saw that right?" Ty's attention shifted to the person behind her, her hands now gesturing wildly to the llama that looked absolutely pleased with itself as it started munching on Ty's snack.

Asher had completely forgotten that she was on dinner duty tonight and was in charge of restocking the fridge. It was her day off after all and how did she chose to spend it? In bed, undisturbed, wrapped up in her covers like a lump on a freaking log. She only left her room to grab some beer and left over snacks before submerging herself into the piles of blankets once more. Sage was due to be home with Maggie any minute and attempting to scramble, she turned in defeat as she heard her sister walk into the kitchen. "So I uh...totally dropped the ball on dinner and definitely did not go to the supermarket." Diapers had been on the list too for Maggie. Shit. "I will put a delivery request in for both, no sweat!" Course correction. Easy enough.

It wasn’t uncommon for Yas to make plans to meet up with Asher at her place to then go out later, giving the perfect excuse to show up a little early with the hopes of running into Sage. While Yasemin had known it was never going to be as simple as just spending a weekend away together and then carrying that closeness back into the real world, a part of her had still been clinging to the idea that maybe it would change something. Outside of some more regular texting back and forth, Yas hadn’t seen much of Sage since, something that she wanted very much to change. Any weirdness of whatever situation they were in didn’t matter, at least not in the moment as she was walking down the street to Sage’s house.

When she got there and knocked on the door, she was hit with the wave of concern that she was overstepping her boundaries, that maybe there was a reason she and Sage hadn’t seen each other since that weekend. Any thoughts bubbling up that might have had her stepping back down to the street and making her way home were stopped as soon as the door swung open, leaving her standing right in front of Sage. “Hey, uh - going out with Ash later, just um. I guess I’m a bit early,” she greeted lamely, as if it weren’t completely obvious why she was there almost an hour earlier than Asher was even meant to get off work.

this is just a quick little blurb of nonsense that was inspired by tasm2 with peter hating the itsy bitsy spider song.

writing ft. foggy and jen walters and peter isn’t actually directly in this. but it’s fine. just, listen, this is ridiculous okay? my writing partner and i bantered about this and i wrote this for it.

the annual new york law journal’s attorney of the year award banquet reached the point in the evening where those in attendance have switched from that air of professionalism while awards were accepted and speeches given, to taking full advantage of the open bar.

scheduled to end at 9:30, the reception hall was booked through until midnight. a tradition for those in attendance to enjoy themselves and let down their hair – as they say. foggy is seven pina colada’s deep, working on his eighth, with one of the little umbrellas tucked behind his ear.

matt, far more sensitive to the overall effect of alcohol, has gone shot for shot with jennifer walters. while not in her hulk form, matt has a slight advantage over her. that only lasts so long after the fifth shot, which was supposed to be high end tequila but was something far stronger, matt has to focus hard to work against the alcohol in his system.

it’s not that he’s a lightweight, six foot one and just over two hundred pounds, his body mass can easily handle the alcohol without concern of reaching dangerous levels. but the sensitive nature which matt experiences the world around him is quickly thrown out of equilibrium with the introduction of alcohol.

jennifer is ordering another round, “matt you gotta quit, you just gotta quit.” foggy warns, all to knowingly but too intoxicated himself to do anything about it.

“shush, franklin, i’m fine.” he isn’t, not really, but any consideration into his state is derailed when his phone rings. “hang on, peter’s calling me.”

‘the itsy bitsy spider crawled up the water spout –‘

“I hate that song, I hate that song so much.” peter says, after someone, for what had to be the umpteenth time, mocked spider-man with it while out on patrol.

“it’s not that bad of a song.” matt says, a suspicious smirk already covering his lips.

“it is a terrible song! if you had some children’s song about a daredevil people sing sarcastically at you, you’d feel the same.”

matt’s nodding, “yeah, of course, absolutely not going to set that song to your ring tone now.”

“matthew.” peter’s expression flat, the voice over feature on matt’s phone guiding him, out loud, to setting a customized song. “matthew!”

‘- down came the rain and –‘

“hello, mr. parker, i was just, thinking about you.” matt says, a little overzealous to be talking with his husband, despite doing so not even four hours previously.

on the other end of the line peter bites back a laugh, disappointed he couldn’t attend the banquet with matt this year due to his own engagements. however, still plans to be there to pick his intoxicated husband up in a cab to ensure he gets safely home. they hold a short conversation, coordinating times to meet and exchanging their goodbyes before hanging up.

jennifer is putting another shot glass into matt’s hand. “why is peter’s ring tone the itsy bitsy spider?” she asks, leaning against the bar. every other person that calls matt, his phone simply announces the caller’s name in a rather dull electronic voice.

“because he hates it.” foggy chimes in, had his fair share of hearing peter complain about it over the years.

matt’s nodding with a wicked grin, “yeah. although… it doesn’t really fit.” he leans towards jennifer, “’cuz i’ll tell you what, there’s nothing itsy bitsy about that spider.”

jennifer sputters a laugh, and even foggy is amusingly rolling his eyes, but in unison - “matthew! shut up.”
