The “Iris is in love with the flash not Barry” argument is so funny because we literally saw her fall in love with Barry in flashpoint, where she didn’t know about his powers.
Before she knew, she was talking to the Flash about Barry, saying how Barry was losing hope and she thought the Flash could help him.
Thawne changed the timeline and made it so he and Iris were together. Even when she was supposed to view Barry as the villain she still believed in him and decided to help him.
The show continuously pushes the point that they are meant to be together, powers or no powers (Earth 2 Barry and Iris had no powers)

Yockey, Matt. "Superman Family Values: Supersex in the Silver Age." Supersex: Sexuality, Fantasy, and the Superhero, University of Texas Press, 2020.
in lieu of this passage superman's silver age is THE ground zero when it comes to understanding how modern het relationships are written because it presents this idea that reproduction is a must for a partnership. the integration of superman's sexual and emotional fulfillment relies on this implied future because it connects him to a lost krypton. for as long as the comic continues to be published, this will remain true but never realized, and so there exists an assumed epilogue that requires a longterm relationship. i.e; love and sex aren't considered to be a "valid" character choice unless it's within this nebulous sphere of future domesticity.

I don't think we've talked enough about how iconic it was that the flash got both Wentworth and dominic to play partners, ice and fire, with wentworth the one making the plans. Like the first episode he appears in they don't even show dominic, you hear him say "yeah buddy im in" at the very end of the episode. They gave them whole ass brotherly partners they started in the flash then moved to legends and all that after the first run of prison break, like they knew the power they had at that point. Fucking iconic.

“Very westallen of them “ is very funny lol. Speaking of the bear can you do an acting rank like you did with GOT
Well, honestly. I just remember feeling like I was taking crazy pills because I said that I could appreciate what Candice Patton said about antiblackness in Hollywood and still think she and Grant don't have chemistry on The Flash and a bunch of anons screaming NO YOU CAN'T at me, it was fucking wild.
In terms of The Bear, I think the entire cast is great, like the supporting actors are really strong but I feel you can only really do rankings between Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach because they consistently have the most meat to their scenes, the most room to breathe and play, the most development and everyone else is still snapshots, we're getting more Marcus now but nowhere near the same way. In fact, I think Syd is just getting to the same amount of space that Carmy and Richie had since season 1. I can talk about what strengths the other cast members have, like Liza (Tina) is really good at unspoken vulnerability, her face every time she receives encouragement?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but to rank her or to rank Fak, like it just doesn't seem like I can.
And even with Ayo, Ebon and JAW, these three aren't really rankings.
I think JAW is first. I think he does the most passionate performance, he has this well of emotion, he is adept at performing with a kind of alarming urgency and desperation and then performing with alarming numbness and a kind of disassociation, he can be soft and vulnerable and can access this painful rage, the dynamism is incredible and he was very good in Shameless but I see the maturity in his acting from then to now and that's really fun to watch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then I think Ayo and Ebon are both on the same level.
Every character on The Bear feels like a real person, everything about The Bear feels natural, feels like I've been dropped into this restaurant, this life with these people, all of them are great at making me feel this way, but Ebon? It really feels like he's just this guy, it really feels like I'm just watching him talk, I'm just watching him operate, like I know this guy,
youtube
I've met this guy, I've been annoyed by this guy, he is so natural in this role, with this dialogue in a way that surpasses the others who are already excellent.
And then there's Ayo who executes her realism very differently to me because she doesn't have the same blend-in quality as Ebon or the others, where she doesn't necessarily feel comfortable. In a lot of ways, no one on this show is comfortable because they're all searching for something, improving themselves, or self-destructing etc. but they're lived in characters and Ayo is awkward (to the point that sometimes I feel like her gestures are a little too put on) but it all works so where Ebon makes me feel with Richie like I know this guy, Ayo makes me feel like I could be Syd and she does that through micro expressions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and her comedic timing -- everyone on the show has great comic timing, everyone has some dialogue or some action that showcases how funny they are as actors and how funny the script is -- Ayo does it in away that makes it a part of her character, Syd is funny, that's a personality trait of Syd's

So you can't complain no one's playing the choose violence ask game with you! I choose 6, 7, 16 and 22. You can pick a fandom for each, obviously. 🤣
6. which ship fans are the most annoying?
usually every major/main ship in a fandom. i like a main pairing maybe 5% of the time because i’m usually relegated to side character and secondary pairing hell. doesn’t matter if the ship is canon or headcanon, there is an extreme likelihood that i will hate it. i get lucky occasionally (a business proposal and kiseki scored on both main and secondary pairings) but it’s rare. i hated just about every main pairing in MCU fandom (god my sins are vast) and i hated 99% of flash ships — fuck westallen until i die, fuck harrisco — in favor of ghost ships and decades-spanning headcanons.
i also hate when people get snide about exclusively shipping queer ships. ‘oh all hetero ships are annoying, oh the straights aren’t okay’ maybe take five minutes to actually seek out well-written work rather than dismissing it all immediately. as a bi woman in a relationship with a cis guy, i do fucking take it personally when people harp about queer supremacy like a ton of gays aren’t their own special brand of dumpster fire. there’s plenty of well-done m/f media out there and there’s plenty of absolutely garbage-ass m/m or f/f ships and stories. none of it’s inherently good or inherently bad based on the genders of the partners involved.
and because i know you’re baiting me, yes, KP fans were the most annoying motherfuckers on the planet bc they would be deliberately obtuse about their own pairing’s flaws in order to tear down everyone else’s. the number of times i wanted to shout PHYSICIAN, HEAL THYSELF at people who looked at a narcissistic rapist and his kidnapped indentured servant as a model of a healthy relationship is beyond all measure. i don’t care if you ship the assholes, just stop acting like they were in any way, shape, or form a pair of functional adults. god knows those of us on the VP side weren’t exactly rocking the best moral high ground, but at least a lot of us acknowledged they were freak nasty disasters with the social skills of genie the feral child. the toxicity is the point! don’t sanitize it.
oh, and fuck people who think that harassing actors because the actor had the audacity to have a real-life relationship with someone who wasn’t their costar is acceptable behavior. i’m pretty live and let live about rpf until you start causing real-life consequences for people because you can’t let go of your delusions.
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
man, doug renetti from minx is a great example of this. i don’t hate the character in the show. he’s great (he’s fucking awful), he’s compelling, he’s a fucking dirtbag trainwreck and i love watching him. fandom is entirely incapable of discussing literally ANYTHING ELSE about the show in favor of beating off to jake johnson in his greasiest form. i tend to get itchy when people ignore 99% of the show just to spam the tag with the one mediocre uggo they crank their hog to.
i don’t hate him and hopefully never will because he’s perfect, but i also tend to get itchy when people ignore basically all of kiseki and just focus on ai di. like, i love him, too! character of all time! louis deserves a golden bell for that performance! but k4 as a whole deserves that golden bell and just because chen yi and zong yi and ze rui aren’t overtly flashy murder kittens doesn’t mean they’re not fascinating and compelling characters. it’s irrational, but it irritated me as a kiseki lifer to watch people sort of tourist-cruise through and coo over ai di for a week or two before forgetting the show entirely. SO MUCH garbage BL out there and 99% of this site slept on actual good BL. (on the other hand, do i want more people in the fandom? jesus, no. i’ll keep the rent-lowering 21-gun salute going hourly if i have to.)
generally, though, a character is doomed for me the second they become a tumblr fave. if i see a character’s face five times in one day they’re likely to hit my hate list. my tolerance for overexposure is almost none.
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
‘baby’ as a pet name, a/b/o (which makes me fucking puke — i cannot abide that it’s mainstream now), VP petplay, and an overreliance/need to make things porny. i’m no prude; i read it, i write it, and it’s not like i’m above seeking it out. but as someone who struggles with writing it, i wish it felt less necessary/expected to include. i also feel like a lot of shows use extra sex scenes to compensate for lazy/shitty writing, so rather than complement a narrative, it feels like it’s carrying the narrative instead. i like a good fuck scene as much as the next person, but when your simulated boning feels like a time-filler and not something that’s moving the story forward, you’re losing me fast.
i find a lot of enemies-to-lovers pretty poorly handled. not opposed to it, but a lot of people don’t do it well. i loathe miscommunication tropes. there can be exceptions if the characterization and context is strong enough, but it takes a skilled writer to pull that off. despise love triangles. i’m picky about AUs. i CANNOT STAND ‘love interest is rude because they secretly like their future partner.’ nothing will get me to throw the book across the room faster than an arrogant asshole who looks down their nose at their partner. i did not have a mr darcy phase at any point in my life. mr darcy and his ilk can eat paint chips. even watching a man get humbled by love is not enough to save that one for me. i read too much early/mid-2000s manga (this is a hot gimmick callout) to be able to deal with that shit anymore.
as a general rule, i am the cheese standing alone. i am unlikely to agree with a lot of the big/popular headcanons bc i’m contrary and i don’t like going along with the dictate of a handful of BNFs who handed the word down like they were giving the ten commandments to moses. the problem is that i have been in so many fandoms of various sizes over so many years that i have seen some of the worst human beings alive ruin the space for smaller/less popular voices. (and that’s a cassie claire callout. you were a cunt then and you’re a cunt now and even when you were ripping off every property you could get your grimy hands on, your writing was still unreadable OOC garbage.) so i tend to disregard whatever fandom is into in favor of being into my own weird little niche shit.
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
already answered :V

did you watch the flash s9 premiere? what did you think?
Yes, I did, and I quite enjoyed it! I went it with no expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the subtleties and nuances in Barry and Iris's relationship were handled. The last really great episode of The Flash, to me, was 6x17, although there were episodes I very much enjoyed since then, but in terms of matching that intensity, that story-telling, that emotional pay-off... I just do not think the show can pull it off anymore. So, having said that, I did really like that 9x01 instead leaned into levity, while handling the connotations of free will versus fate in the context of Barry and Iris being stuck in the time-loop with nuance. I really liked the notion of Barry wanting to fallback on needing to know every detail of his and Iris's future and needing to follow it exactly, because of the trauma of their past, and Iris wanting to choose and not have to be beholden to specific choice, because of the trauma of their past. Their feelings and emotions are informed by the trauma they have experienced the last few years, when they were physically separated repeatedly, due to Crisis, mirror dimensions, and time sickness.
I was unsure at first about Barry and his book, because initially I worried that this a lesson that Barry seems to need to learn over and over again, but it wasn't what I feared. Barry was very much in the wrong with obsessing about the book and foisting this upon his and Iris's lives, and he needed to come to that realization himself, but I understood why he was obsessing about the book and feeling like he needed to plot out the entire future, because of what's happened to him and Iris and them constantly being physically separated the last few years.
I absolutely adored the material for Iris in the episode. It was some of the best Iris content we have gotten since forever, especially because she has been dealing with so much pain and trauma and had so much violence inflicted upon her in the previous three seasons over and over again, so it was really nice to see Iris struggle internally with wanting to be able to make her choices without being told that she has to do something, because the future says so. Also, I found that scene where she's just like, "fuck it, I'm not dealing with these absurd decisions that may or may not have to be informed by the future, I am going to stay in this time-loop and not have to have all this weighing on me and just have a cocktail and for once not have to worry about all of this," so, so, so relatable. That's just such a good scene, and it felt so real. It's rare that The Flash gives us such good, relatable character moments these days, and this was one of them.
I love that Barry and Iris come up with a solution together on how to end the time-loop, while making choices on their own terms. Iris proactively finding a way to expand CCC into the empire we know it to be through the Coast City Gazette, while turning down the CatCo offer, was wonderful. CHEFS KISS. I always say that CCC is Iris's baby, and so, getting to see her expand her media empire on her own terms was really, really great.
The Westallen content was really fun, as well. I love the rom-com time-loop where they kept waking up on February 1st over and over again. Peak comedy, lol. Also the tender early morning moment. The fireplace kiss was really lovely AND THAT WHOLE SCENE WAS JUST SO SWOON-WORTHY... the romantic lighting, the "Are you sure about this?" "I'm sure about you." GOD, I've missed this peak Westallen romance so much. The power couple energy of them working through the time-loop and saving the day and breaking the time-loop together, on their own terms. The peak best friends in love energy in the pool scene. The scene by the pier, "Okay. Okay. Okay." I just LOVE how the married best friends in love energy jumped out. SO GOOD. Getting to see Barry and Iris together and happy and in love is just... give me all of that content. I am glad that this seems to be a focus this season, and I hope that it carries throughout the season.
So yes, all in all, a really enjoyable hour. It's not equal to my all-time favorite episodes, but I was not expecting it to be. I really appreciated that the episode handled Barry, Iris, and the time-loop with real nuance in the episode and that we got to see some really good character moments, because I honestly cannot recall the last time the show has afforded us this kind of nuance and character introspection.
