Here are Most of my Yami Bakura head canons (some of them are kinda angsty)

Yami Bakura is really really good at applying eyeliner and mascara, but is dog shit at applying any other makeup.

When he's really stressed he scratches at his face and arms as hard as he can, which led to Ryou having to cut his nails so he wouldn't come back into consciousness with scratches everywhere because Yami Bakura was overwhelmed.

He has a fear of fire, but because he likes smoking he just closes his eyes when he needs a light.

He gets cold easily.

He loves dogs! If they didn't absolutely despise him they'd be his favorite animal. He settled for cobras because they seem to have unconditional love and adoration for him.

The reason Yugi, Anzu, Jonouchi, and Honda’s dolls all looked so different from Ryou's doll is because Yami Bakura made them.

He loves Godzilla movies and tried to convince Ryou to give Dark Master Zorc an atomic blast, but was shot down due to Ryou not knowing he existed. (Ryou would absolutely give DM Zorc an atomic blast)

Yami Bakura loves sweet things like cake and candy. His favorite pastry is chocolate filled croissants. He prefers it when they have the traditional croissant shape because it's easier for him to eat.

Isn't a fan of horror movies unless it's body horror or really really fucking stupid.

He likes biting his partners. Not just chomping on their skin either, he likes to nibble and really get his teeth all up in their skin. They can't bite back though because he's ticklish and will slap them really hard.

He likes to sleep in weird places. Underneath tables, in front of balcony windows, bathtubs, inside the couch.

He is a certified boob enjoyer. Doesn't matter what size. He likes all of them.

In the situation where he got a redemption, I don't think he'd feel bad for the Yugi gang or almost ending the world. I think he just wouldn't see the point in taking revenge anymore because it obviously just wasn't working out. He isn't killing people anymore though! (He feels a little bad about Ghost and Ryou tho. He went a little overboard on them.)

He can't walk in heels over 2 inches.

He's actually really insecure about his dueling skills since he doesn't like the game that much, but he literally needs to play it.

He really likes flowers and gardening.

He keeps a copy of Tragoedia in his wallet, for memories sake.

He is incredibly touch starved, but he also feels like he doesn't really deserve to be touched in a soft and tender way. He doesn't like being kissed or hugged because that's just too gentle and loving, being bit tickles and that makes him feel too vulnerable. He can't help that he feels this way, but he just can't accept that someone actually loves him.

He stole his black trench coat from Kaiba.

Out of all of Ryou's friends, I imagine that Honda is the one he hates the least. He doesn't really do anything, and he protects Ryou from danger, so there isn't much to hate about him other than the fact he's friends with Yami.

The Yami he knows is the same Yami that burned people alive, blew people up, blew out people's eardrums, fed people to monsters, made people die a few times, and threatened to rip off people's legs. That's the Yami he knows, and he's terrified of him.

His favorite video game series is Dark Souls.

If Yami Bakura accepts the love of someone, he starts to purposely hurt them so they can stay home with him. He's subtle about it, so it's hard to tell if it's on purpose or not.

maybe this is just me being in a system but something that will always make me extraordinarily happy for many layered reasons is whenever Yami is speaking to someone, in control of the body, and actively introduces himself as Yugi Muto. like there's SO many reasons that makes me happy but one of the big ones is that it's some casual rep of the very common experience where you know who's fronting, you know it's not the host, but you are NOT about to explain systems and alternate names and all that shit to fucking johnny steps, okay, we are The Singletsona for the remainder of this social interaction. easier on me, easier on us, easier on them, easier on everybody. it's nice to see those little Stealth moments actually seen and wonder what precisely he's thinking at the time. and then obv there's all the other stuff about him literally Having yugi's memories and having "an identity" outside of him but not actually knowing what that identity is besides The Pharoah and quite literally Other Me, the being that comfortable in yugi's life that he can just step in when needed, the knowledge that this specific episode is dealing with the fact that he ISN'T very comfortable in yugi's life outside of dueling yet there's still little piece like that where he's fully integrated, i just !!! it makes me stim. (quick definition for the unknown: "System" meaning "more than one person in the same body". this is not the only term, just the one we're most comfortable using. yugi, bakura, and marik are all a form of System representation. yugioh's impressively consistent with that theme, actually! it's not the most positive, but it does make me happy.)

I've only watched the Dub. I am aware of the differences, though. I prefer Dub voices, but would love it done accurate to the original (if that makes sense).

-4. Favorite season/story arc

Confession time. I've only watched parts of S0, all of S1 to the episode in Orichalchos arc where Yami loses Yugi, and Capsule Monsters. I still haven't watched Memory World/Final Duel. My entire knowledge of that comes from a few out of order Shonen Jump magazines, and lots of interwebs reading.

That being said, out of the ones I've actually watched, Battle City Finals. I do love the base idea behind the Memory World arc though. Even though my knowledge of that arc is entirely from a reader perspective, with a few Youtube scenes here and there, I still think TKB got shafted and deserved a better ending.

-8. Favorite antagonist/villain

I gotta pick just one? The Marik's were just so well written, and then you have Yami Bakura/TKB who had this amazing buildup across the series (even though his ending was blah). It's a close tie between them. I guess if I had to pick ONE, it would be Yami Marik. At first you think Marik is fucked up, then SURPRISE! There's an even more fucked up part of him that isn't an ancient spirit. He is so outta left field, and he's just entertaining with how he gives zero fucks about everyone else.

Don't come after me with a pitchfork because in 20 years I haven't finished all the seasons :( I started rewatching recently, but finding time to sit down an watch a few eps here and there is hard since I have to wait for everyone else to be in the mood to watch (if I watch ahead people get mad *eyeroll*)

Ok, this is about to get long sorry.

Honestly? A second chance. I do not feel like he really had a fair shot at being anything other then what he'd become. This is especially true while he's attached to The Dark God as Yami Bakura.

Please note that I am not excusing his actions, but with that said many of the other characters (and I am including season 0/early Yu-Gi-Oh) were not declared evil despite doing similar actions. Marik was redeemed, Seto isn't seen as evil, and even Yami Yugi isn't exempt from this. In my opinion, the anime/manga (likely unintentionally) made Atem look kinda hypocritical with how it went about Bakura and Yami Marik but that's a whole different rant

What I mean is he's over here throwing chance after chance at Seto and anyone else he likes (I love Seto, this is not me shitting on him. I also love Atem) but somehow he draws the line at Bakura??? Seto was after him because he couldn't handle losing but the massacre victim is where you draw the line??? Really??? That is not a good look, either Atem is inconsistent when it comes to that for whatever reason or he's a hypocrite who makes his own rules and decides how redeemable you are based on how much he likes you.

I would like to believe it's an inconsistency, though admittedly if I wrote Atem it would not be. He would feel deep regret for a lot of his actions. Ok I'm getting off topic shit.

But basically I just feel like if Atem is not in fact a hypocrite he'd of looked into Bakura more, realized that he's being too hasty with destroying him when he was attached to a literal dark god (there is no way that didn't affect Bakura's thought patterns, a god is going to overpower a human, there is no way to tell who is causing what to happen until they're separated ok).

Long story short: A more consistent or non-hypocritical Atem would've, in my opinion, annoyed the fuck out of Bakura by trying to play hero and save him from this hole he'd dug himself. He may have even felt obligated to some extent because of his family's involvement. Bakura made his own choices, obviously, but it seems to me that for a while he thought he really was in the right. (Don't feel like going into that much because there is a lot of layers and this is long af already).

I also do want to point out however that Bakura already has a bias against Atem, every action that Atem does that Bakura perceives as negative would be highlighted whether he's consciously doing it or not. That complicates things a lot more. Also being deemed bad by people who have also committed murder? Uh, not a good look. Pot meet kettle.

ANYWAYS I can rant about this for hours but I'll cut it here an say that a fate I'd give Bakura is:

A second chance BUT he is stuck with Atem so they're forced to see more than the biases they may have. I think the Gods recognizing how complex this situation was and giving a fair shot would be great. I've actually been meaning to edit his bio to incorporate that idea more. It makes more sense, but I'm explaining it horribly here.

ahhhhhh I'm SO glad people are interested in hearing more, I'm definitely going to build on this world and outline and stuff and maybe write some disconnected drabbles or something I think. in the meantime, have some random, less-angsty Tidbits of what's happened so far:

the actual moment where the TLs split is when Joey uses Graceful Dice in his duel with Kaiba, with him rolling a 1 instead of a 4. he still loses, obviously, but it's a reference to the dice roll scene in Community, where the Darkest Timeline name comes from.

normal Marik isn't actually dead, he's still got that fragment of his soul inside Anzu. everyone knows this, he spoke to them after the final duel when Ishizu talked to them about where to go from here. they just kind of try to forget that little fact, and he hasn't really shown himself since they got back to Domino City. I think she even tends to forget about him most of the time, until he speaks up like "You're not seriously wearing those boots with that skirt are you"

Yami Marik thinks of Bakura as his pet and, for now at least, actually takes pretty good care of him and even kind of spoils him, especially with food. aside from the whole not being allowed to leave Marik's yacht or talk to his friends situation, he's actually not complained much. mostly because he hasn't blacked out, lost time, or woken up injured once since, so even though his situation is Fucked Up, he'll Accept it over being possessed (again... for now).

oh and Rishid is alive!! Marik never did get a chance to stab him. unfortunately he also didn't wake up soon enough to change the outcome of the final duel
