Season 2 of Arcane is making me realize that Jayce was a really good character that was hamstrung by very few character interactions outside of Viktor and Mel last season. Yes, please put that sad bisexual with good intentions, poor judgement skills, and huge muscles in MORE situations.

wait please elaborate on the dahlia having access to cyanide thing I'm so curious

cyanide is used in gold and silver plating to basically remove tarnish from the metals. i do not know the FIRST thing about the chemistry or what exactly it does, but it's not uncommon at all for jewelers to have the chemical in its fully fatally toxic form in their position.

this is actually how jim jones, the cult leader of jonestown, acquired the cyanide he used to poison his cult members. he registered for a jewelers license and with it had weekly shipments of cyanide sent to guyana under the guise of cleaning silver and gold. nothing about that was out of the ordinary, and so no red flags were raised.

so when i first played t&t this was a question that arose in my gc. 'cause we know that dahlia stole from the pharm lab to poison diego and phoenix, but at the time we were unclear on the nature of her pact with fawles. because, like, they obviously MADE the pact when she was 14, and the poison fawles drank was ultimately the pharm lab poison... but why would she come up with such a specific method of suicide with fawles if she didn't have the means? so someone was kind of like "how would a 14 year old dahlia have had access to poison? she couldn't have planned to steal from the college that far in advance, could she?"

cue me chiming in like "um, her dad is a jeweler. she definitely was planning on stealing his cyanide."

Y'know this little throwaway gag is so bizarre to me and I know this game is a bit very different to 2 and 3 but look at Matt's reaction when Jack raids the place in 3:

You'd argue he's simply stopping Jack bc he hates this guy and he also hates this job which Could Be True but i highly doubt bc overall despite his virginity and overall cursed vibe, Matt seems to be a good employee, by all means (I mean, Peter literally gave him a vacation instead of firing him in 2, so that says a lot).

Plus, Dave hates this guy as much as he hates him! He literally always calls him creepy and, AND!

This is the only footage you get of the prize corner in 2. Which is also the first game to show Matt and Dave's disdain for one another, Dave being likely more scared of Matt than Matt will ever be of him.

Which is all very curious. 2 does set a drastic change for Matt too with him going from being just strange to outright creepy, so was the old pizza place closing something that actually affected him or was he consistently that creepy all along? And if the later, did he just start hating Dave after that or did they always have beef and they simply had some sort of arrangement (or even higher word from Steven who tended to let Dave do whatever he wanted in general) that let him do so?

in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, Hekate hears the sound of Persephone crying as she's taken to the underworld and comforts Demeter when she realizes what happened to her daughter, and then later celebrates with her when Persephone is returned. i gotta wonder if ZUN was aware of that version of the story when he chose to put Hekate in Touhou; Hekate, or Hecatia, who had once witnessed a mother grieving the loss of her child and consoled her, would find a thread of familiar sympathy for Junko, whose son was killed, offering a far deeper connection than a common grudge against Houyi which i think is super fascinating! but unlike Demeter, Junko can never get her child back, and so Hekate consoles her by promising to help in her revenge against Chang'e (and delivering vengeance upon someone who wasn't even directly responsible for the transgression is such a Greek God thing to do anyway).

I saw this video on Twitter yesterday and thought I'd share, because it has something really cool about Boothill that I had never noticed before: how he handles the recoil of his pistol!

The video isn't in English, but you can get the gist of it pretty well just by watching. There are three characters so far who use guns- Bronya, Topaz, and Boothill. Bronya and Topaz, both normal humans, will get knocked backwards by the recoil. It's not by very much, but it becomes pretty noticeable when you mash the basic attack button in the overworld map. It's enough to move them over the line on the floor in the video.

Boothill on the other hand- you can see him jolt from the recoil, but he isn't actually knocked back at all! The transcript of the video mentions this being due to his cyborg body and having a better center of gravity, which is really cool! I love seeing more concrete evidence of what he gained with the loss of his human body, and how it helps him in combat and his Hunt for revenge. It kinda makes you understand more why he went through with it, and why he considers it worth the heavy price he paid.
