Welcome to AU’August!

During AU’August you get to do all things AU, go to your neglected and forgotten about AU’s and give them some love, I’ll go first :)

Come say hello to Catnap!My boy comes right out of the AU: BigTop AU

This is one of my many aU’s that don’t get to see the light of day much, there isn’t a fanfic for it but there is in general facts and some development. The location of the AU is a Circus Carnival combo, where all the fun can be found in one place! Where people turn into WereAnimals that can either be a temporary one time change that can happen as a sign of growing up…..but for some the change is permanent and they can never really continue their normal lives in the way that they want to. Most end up at the BigTop who welcomes all who have changed permanently a place to live and work.

Catnap here is one of our fire performers, he’s a very interesting guy who makes and fixes a lot of the costumes with his amazing sewing skills! Sometimes he will fill in other performance roles depending on if somebody fell sick or injured and there spot needs to be filled for a performance.

This is what BigTop AU Catnap looks like, only him and DogDay currently have designs, each one of them has there own story’s that I’m hoping to share with everyone.

Description:

This is an OC of mine who comes from a world where one of his friends accidentally opens a portal to another dimension and releases a bunch of different types of demons. There are only 3 types known so far: the disfigured, the shapeshifters, and the possessers. The possessor demon is the one you see here, they are creators that take the body of a human and combine them. They usually after take form of a mystical being sidekick making the human feel like a superhuman as they slowly chip away at the human stealing their life force. This human (who I have not named yet) knows about his demise but is using the demons power to help his friends get rid of these demons and make sure no one else has to endure this same thing, in doing so he makes some sort of bond with the demon leading the demon to not want to kill him.

when i was a kid, a new family moved into our neighborhood. my parents wanted to welcome them, so my dad made a bowl of salsa and went over with my mom to introduce themselves. the husband of the new family was very excited when he got the salsa—he was a professional chef and as such no one ever made food for him because they always assumed he’d think it was bad, just because he was a good cook.

the moral of the story: give your artist friends art! give your writing friends writing! and give your chef friends food! even if they’re “better” at it than you. i can assure you that they’ll love it regardless because it came from you.

Randomly thinkin about Chilchuck today, and how he tries sooooo hard to self sabotage

like for example, other half foots on the island think that he's a greedy asshole who only cares about money, and he does nothing to try to disprove that

but then there's this omake at the end of book 9 that shows that people treat half foots fucking TERRIBLY and chilchuck started a union to protect them

and then in the bicorn chapter, he doesn't want Marcille to keep digging into his personal business so he tells her he CHEATED ON HIS WIFE

but he just COMPLETELY fuckin lied about that and made himself sound so much worse than he is bc he's afraid of being vulnerable with people and would rather everyone believes he's a shitty person so he can keep them at a distance

and the thing that's memed so often is that he refuses to help with fighting most of the time because it's not part of his contract

but if you take this lore into account (not gonna add those particular images to this post simply bc I've used them in so many posts already LMAO) along with this tidbit from the world guide:

then it's like. yeah he has to keep his weight low so if he gets killed or severely injured and has to be healed, that could be really dangerous for him. and even if he was healed at that point he'd end up being a burden to the party after that point, he would be too dangerously thin/sickly to be able to help.

Like, Chilchuck has so many things about him that APPEAR to be character flaws, but every single one of them has a very reasonable explanation. He just leans into the mischaracterization bc he's emotionally withholding and can handle people thinking he's an asshole more than he can handle opening up to anyone. he's such a well thought out and interesting character
