So previously I was switching Gypsy's name to Tarot in the old 80s comics, but I think in the future I'll upload both the original and edited versions . . . not because I support using the word, which is a slur AFAIK, but because I think preserving history is important, even the parts that weren't so great.
Also there are parts of the comics that are racially insensitive no matter how you slice it, like I die a little inside every time I look at Mandarin Orange who is a, uh, not-great representation of a Chinese man. (Or doll? I think he runs the Land of the Dolls? Anyway, they used a very yellow skintone for him and slits for eyes . . . yeeeah.) Also there are comics with Wigwam, the pony with teepees (which were not used by the tribes who used wigwams) on his ass so it is what it is, you know what I mean? This stuff is from the 1980s and it's going to reflect the societal norms of that time.
Anyway, I wanted to let people know that in case they want to update Tumblr Savior to avoid posts with Gypsy in them. Tumblr Savior is free to download and you can blacklists tags in it so the posts don't show up on your dash.

Basic Fun Big Brother Ponies
Tumblr media
So I was talking with my friends about basic fun reproductions (the conversation was started by talk of celestial ponies) and we were talking about what sets we would love to see from them in the future. There are so so many good ones they could bring back, but we ended up talking about how cool it would be if they brought back the big brother ponies
These ponies are somewhat rare compared to other g1s so theyre a little more expensive as of now and harder for people to get their hands on, so it would be cool if there was an affordable option! They also haven’t remade the big brothers yet, and its cool to see new basic fun molds of the older ponies.
The only pony who I wouldn’t want to see brought back from that set is Wigwam, since he is very culturally appropriative of indigenous people in a way that many find offensive. I think if they brought back the big brothers they should either leave him out or change him entirely while working with actual indigenous people or groups to fix his design. For example in a different series (The sims 4), during their new horse ranch pack they worked directly with and financially supported indigenous groups to add representation into the game, which was rather cool and well received! I think if they wanted to represent groups like that in pony toys they should work together with people to make it not offensive, or just not make that pony at all.
Regardless of all that, I would love to see some of the Big Brother Ponies come back (I love Tex and Steamer a lot 🩷🩷) so I am going to write a letter to them soon. If there are any pony sets that you want to see basic fun bring back: reach out to them I am so serious. The celestial ponies are proof that they do listen to fan feedback :)

Yodawgiheardyoulikeponies is Anti-Native
the blog @.yodawgiheardyoulikeponies has shown recently that they do not respect native people by continuing to refuse to acknowledge that the pony Wigwam is a racist caricature of the indigenous people of the great plains. Trigger warning for Anti-Native racism.
This started when they posted a picture of the gen 1 pony in response to an ask:
Tumblr media
[I.D. A generation 1 orange pony with half lidded eyes and wearing a plastic approximation of a war bonnet posed for a photo.]
As you can see the pony has a Plains war bonnet used as decoration despite being named after a type of lodging called Wigwam by North-Eastern tribes. This demonstrates a lack of care or understanding by the creators about native cultures and as a result makes it a racist caricature of native people. When this was pointed out to them they responded as such:
Tumblr media
[I.D. An ask by anonymous reading "you know that wigwam pony is based on a racist caricature, right? it's pretty insensitive to post, especially without any criticism..." in response user Yodawgiheardyoulikeponies says "None of my posts are ever intentionally offensive, and I'm sorry you feel this way. Unfortunately, this toy was made at a different time. However to ignore or to avoid that this pony ever existed would be wrong, as if we do not reflect on our mistakes we cannot learn from them. The lack of criticism I believe comes from the fact that the collector community is aware of this, but does not intend to offend anyone by owning or taking photos of this toy."]
They ignored the fact that the anon is asking for the pony to not be posted without criticism of the anti-native caricature and instead deflects by saying that the collector community is simply not intending to offend anyone by owning or taking pictures of this toy, since the toy was made at a different time when this kind of racism was more commonplace or more acceptable.
A different anon came to the blog’s defense:
Tumblr media
[ID: An anonymous ask reading “wigwam may be based off an outdated racist caricature but he says native rights” with the response from yodawgiheardyoulikeponies being “THAT’S RIGHT!!” with the tags “leave wigwam alone, he did nothing wrong”]
This shows that the blog owner doesn’t take this racism seriously, instead treating it like the toy is being “flamed” or made fun of for being strange or unconventional. Additionally, the blog owner has not indicated in any way that they are native themselves, even though, arguably, this has brought ample opportunities to do so, yet they (and by extension this anon) feel that they have the authority to speak on what anti-native caricatures can be reclaimed.
Further, in response to at least this anonymous ask (provided by a blogger who will remain unnamed), the blog owner chose to make this post:
Tumblr media
[ID: A post by yodawgiheardyoulikeponies that reads “To the anon who keeps giving me hate mail over G1 Wigwam: Can you not. I just got assaulted badly by a patient and I have better to do. It’s a toy. No one else has a problem with it at all in the collecting community.]
This guilt tripping behavior in the face of being called out for racism is immature and shows little compassion for the native people who do, in fact, care about this caricature.
This is the aforementioned ask:
Tumblr media
[ID: a screenshot of a saved ask through xkit’s outbox that reads: “unless you are native, you don’t get to decide whether or not a racist caricature of native people “says native rights” or not. that’s a really childish way to approach this issue. just because the toy was made when this was more appropriate doesn’t mean it isn’t offensive and harmful, and again, you don’t to decide that’s true or not unless you are native. and the opinion of one native being that it’s fine doesn’t make it fine for every native person. this is very disappointing.]
The final part of that ask is in reference to some supportive anons the blog received:
Tumblr media
[ID: An anonymous message that reads “I’m native and have been active in my community since I was a child, i’ve shown him to my husband and a few of my cousins all of native descent and all 6 of us agree that he is not racist” with the response by yodawgiheardyoulikeponies being three hearts.]
As the ask provided states, the opinion of one native person that this is okay does not outweigh the opinion of another that it is-- both the person posting this callout and the anonymous provider are native. Even if it were not racist, which is an opinion a native person can hold for themselves, all that was being asked of the blog owner was to post it critically. It is objectively better for everyone if the concerns of the few are listened to, especially in a situation like this, anyway.
To conclude this issue, yodawgiheardyoulikeponies made this uncouth post:
Tumblr media
[ID: A post by yodawgiheardyoulikeponies that reads “I’m gonna solve the whole controversial pony thing right now” followed by a photo of Wigwam and a second G1 pony, Gypsy, whose name is a racial slur used against the Rromani people, standing together. The next photo shows the two ponies with their noses touching like they are kissing. The text beneath reads “Problem solved” and the tags include “wigwam, gypsy, valentine’s day, love”]
Once again, the problem of racism is ignored instead of simply acknowledged. It hardly needs to be said that making a racist caricature love another racist caricature removes the problem of racism.
This callout is NOT a call for harassment, it is simply shining light on a sensitive issue that was handled exceptionally poorly by a fairly popular blogger in the MLP collectors’ circles here.

Wigwam and Tex like to play Cowboys and Indians. One day, they playfully chased each other through the woods, then toasted marshmallows over the campfire. That night, while Wigwam slept in his teepee, Tex turned Wigwam's feather headband into a magnificent Indian headdress with a wink of an eye! In the morning, Wigwam eagerly tried on his new headdress of colorful feathers. "Let's play another game of Cowboys and Indians!" cried Wigwam, as Tex put on his cowboy hat.

September is the month of Ponies with the Cosmic Egg at Buckland Abbey!
In Devon, England.
Here is Wigwam with the 5 metre high egg in the background.
(And the sun beams doing a rather good impression of lazer beams through the barn windows.)

This was my Hasbro-inspired entry to the #ponyfairwest custom contest, G4 Wigwam! Or at least, he was my backup entry! 🤣 I wasn’t sure if the contest would count my What If pony rainbow as Hasbro inspired or original design, so I brought backup ponies for each category! I made this guy for a Big Brother challenge at the MLPArena back around 2018 or so, where the challenge was to recreate a G1 Brother as a G4! I really wanted Barnacle or Salty, but they got claimed fast! 🤣 I guess I need to make more G1 inspired ponies; he’s my only one! #mylittlepony #ponygurucustom #mylittleponyfair #mylittleponyfair2022 #mlp #mylittleponybigbrother #mylittleponyg4 #mlpg4 #customtoy #custompony https://www.instagram.com/p/CiqfGbXvaM2/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
