OC Kiss ~ Sloppy
(Miri/Gabriel; Dragon Age)
----
There were fewer darkspawn than they expected. In hindsight, maybe that made them overconfident going into the fight.
Okay, it definitely did.
It wasn’t until some of the hurlocks maneuvered them apart and she lost sight of the others that Miri started to worry. Fighting as a unit meant watching each others’ backs, broken apart like this was asking for trouble.
Ice danced at her fingertips, large spires sheeting out to drive back encroaching darkspawn. She smiled in grim challenge, lightning bolts and stonefists flying at the ones that closed back in. She’d felled half of them when a pained cry rent the air.
Gabriel--! Anger and panic surged with a fierce yell, telekinetic energy snapping as it flew from her staff to crush the leader of this group. She made short work of the rest; ichor from the last spattering her Warden blues. She was already moving toward the lingering sounds of combat as it fell. The others were just finishing when she reached them, and her reflexively flung arcane bolt fizzled against an alpha’s corpse as Luc dislodged his mace from its head.
Miri whipped a quick look over the sprawled bodies, tried to calm an icy curl of fear. All darkspawn, no Wardens, but then... “Where’s--”
“Miri!” Gabriel came running from behind a hillock, dark blood matted in his hair and splattered across armor and shield. But he was alive and from what she could see, unhurt. She wheeled and charged to meet him, both wrapping arms around the other, heedless of gore.
Her heart slowed its pounding with his arm around her waist, and Miri cupped his jaw in both hands as they met in a fervent, rushed, and slightly sloppy I’m-glad-you’re-alive kiss.
“I heard- I thought-” Miri mumbled, still breathing hard, when they parted. One arm wrapped around his neck, the other thumb traced his jawline.
Gabriel rested his forehead to hers. “I am fine, chéri. Martel needs some healing, but should be fine as well. A good day, no?”
“Any day I get to keep you is good,” she murmured, and guided him in for another kiss.

I wish people would understand the difference between QUEERCODING and QUEERBAITING.
To code can be used positively or negatively.
To bait is only negative. Baiting is not good.
Referring to a creation as “bait” is claiming there’s a purposeful manipulation or exploitation of the intended viewers by the creators of that creation.
Queerbaiting is only ever manipulation and exploitation so you don’t claim it unless you’re sure of it or the creators have admitted to committing it.
Queercoding certainly can be that too if the creators for it are purposefully using it that way but not always.
To code something as queer might just be their only way of providing and representing a queer narrative.
It can be a very good thing that a show queer codes if the intention is a positive one - validating the viewers.
The reason why they get lumped together as the same thing these days is because why ever is there a need to queer code something when you can make it legitimately and explicitly queer? A valid question.
However, the storytelling in a queer narrative might benefit from something being queercoded rather than explicitly queer because there’s more nuance to it.
Therefore more depth to peruse your thoughts on.
And it can look a lot more natural and authentic than something being explicitly queer depending on who the creator is and what their intention is with using it.
On the other side of the coin….
There’s creators like Emily Andras.
Who can effectively do both and do it well.
Tumblr media
So I’ll say it and I’ll say it again and as long as I have to.
What matters is the CREATIVE INTENTION.
Not “better queer representation”.
You won’t get queerbaiting if the intention is sincere.
If it’s sincere - use QUEERCODING. Not queerbaiting.
For the last time - queerbaiting is not a good thing. There is no such thing as “good queerbaiting”. Ever.
If queerbaiting is being committed - it’s a bad thing.
It means you - as a queer person - are not being represented or validated. You are being exploited.
Stop throwing that term around as if it means something good because it’s not fucking good!
Queerbaiting is one of the most evil things a creator can do with their creation and their characters.
For me personally - it’s the worst thing I’ve experienced and I, as a queer person, do not have to put up with it. And neither do you. So if you truly believe a show you’re watching or whatever creation you’re engaged in is queerbaiting, start protesting.
Stop accepting it as all you have or all you can have.
Because if the creator was truly sincere in providing for you what they do with their creation - you wouldn’t feel like this. You wouldn’t feel like you have to settle because, if they were sincere, they’d give you it all - or as much as they possibly could - without detracting from the storytelling or sacrificing great characters.
Likely the characters of which are queercoded.
The ones you relate to, resonate or identify with.
Creators that provide sincere queer representation don’t make this a difficulty, don’t give pathetic excuses and don’t act like throwing a bone is enough.
Creators that are sincere in providing queer representation involve all their explicitly queer or queercoded characters in everything that happens.
They don’t make them either weaker or stronger. They don’t throw drama or theatrics into their relationships for no reason. And they don’t drop screen-time for their queer characters because something or someone more “important” needs to be the focus and therefore the only time they have reserved for them is always some kind of physical intimacy baiting you in.
Sincere providers of queer representation don’t play around with their queer or queercoded characters.
They use them purposefully to represent you and validate you. Not to purposefully use and exploit you.
Please please please learn the difference and please please please stop throwing “queerbaiting” around - especially with a creation that’s legacy within the queer community is as great and profound as Xena’s - whose creators/cast/crew do what they can to represent and validate queer people to this fucking day and do not deserve to be accused of queerbaiting.
Call Xena straightbaiting. I don’t have a problem with that. It’s about time straight people feel as we do when they watch a queer show about queer characters but never get definitive representation and have to settle for one-of-the-week subplots and seriously boring one dimensional straight characters that are about as expressive as a plank of wood.
Sure, Xena can certainly be referred to as committing straightbaiting and I’m 100% nonapologetic about it.

Kingdom Hearts IV predictions
Radiator Springs/Dinoco Rust-eze Racing Center/Fireball Beach/Thunder Hollow/Thomasville/Florida International Speedway (Cars)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Takes place after Cars 3.
Is visited by Sora.
It isn’t combat based. Missions include keeping up with McQueen’s top speed by racing down Radiator Springs’ main street, learning how to turn right to go left at Willy’s Butte, driving backwards with Mater, keeping up with Cruz’s top speed on Fireball Beach, avoiding pushy competitors with the Thunder Hollow challengers, and practicing with Cruz at Thomasville, culminating in the Piston Cup race at Florida International Speedway, where the objective is to win against Jackson Storm.
Sora enters the world as a custom-made car mixing a few real-life sports car models before visits to Luigi’s Casa Della Tires and Ramone’s House of Body Art end with him modified into a next-gen race car sponsored by Dinoco (with Tex’s blessing) and with Cruz’s number.
It’s set during Cruz’s first Piston Cup racing season, so McQueen still has Doc’s colors and spends the Florida race as Sora’s crew chief. Also, Ramone wears his “Saludos Amigos” body paint from the epilogue of Cars 3.
As Sora finishes his story, Mater is certainly unhappy with Xehanort’s actions forcing Sora’s hand. “That dad-gum Xehanort”, he says angrily. Extra points if Sora doesn’t get to the part where Xehanort is dead, then Sarge gets in his face and demands him to teach Xehanort a lesson when he gets back in a militaristic manner. “Is that understood,” Sarge yells. Then Sora tries to correct him, but gets cut off and asked again, “Is that understood,” and has to respond, “Sir, yes, sir!”
Of course, during the top speed races, Luigi is the one to signal the race to begin.
In the Radiator Springs race, Sora’s top speed is tracked by Sheriff’s speed radar, and on Fireball Beach, it’s via Cruz’s personal assistant, Hamilton.
If you fail the “Turn Right to go Left” mission, Sora goes flying into the bed of cacti, and Mater fishes him out.
“I don’t like to toot my own horn, but…” (HONKS TWICE) “Toot my own horn. That’s funny right there.” - Sir Tow Mater, beginning his backwards driving lesson, 2017
I know I’ll get hate for this, but Cars 2 elements are here. Heck, maybe Mater can’t be present most for the training because he’s busy with Finn and Holley. After all, does he still owe Holley a first date?
I wanted the player character in this world to be Kairi just so Storm can feel the embarrassment of losing to not one, but two “costume girls”.
The Piston Cup race is announced as a 500-lap race, but no game developer is that malicious to force the player to race 500 laps around an oval, so they’d take after the first Cars game and make it twelve laps with the sun slowly lowering throughout the race.

[ rafael l silva | he/him ] Another face is seeking safety in New Orleans. Make sure to welcome GABRIEL SANTOS to the home of the resilient. Rumor has it that they are an 30 year old PHOENIX, who is one of the SURVIVORS but we’ll keep that a secret. They are said to be REACTIVE, but that’s all a façade to cover up their DEPENDABLE nature. We’ve heard that they can be found listening to RISE UP by ANDRA DAY, which sums them up pretty well. Let’s hope that they can find a way to survive this harsh new world.

GO2: “Every Day” [S02E06].
Serie: Good Omens. Skapare: Neil Gaiman. Författare: Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman (boken). Författare: Neil Gaiman & John Finnemore (avsnittet). Regissör: Douglas Mackinnon (avsnittet). Publicerad: 2023. Medium: Amazon Prime Video.
¡Oi!

it feels like life weighs ten thousand tons
Events: Sicktember, Whumptember
Prompts:
Hopelessly Bad at Self-Care
Lashing out
Curled Up With a Pet
Warnings:
Minor self harm (Fallen angel picking up a blessed object)
Mentions of non-consensual touching (mentions of a character 'copping a feel')
This fill is written as a one-shot of my original story, Saudade. You can find my info page for Saudade here.
What context you need to read this is:
In Saudade, the Archangel Raphael Fell during the Rebellion. It was a misunderstanding that spiraled out of control, and he was thrown out by four angels while his partner, the Power Camael, tried to help him.
The angels who didn't Fall were made to forget those who did. They don't remember they ever knew them. As far as they know, all the Fallen were on the fringes of Heaven's society. If they asked around, they might go, "Wait, no one knew a Fallen?" But they Don't Ask Questions.
Raphael worked to gain Camael's trust again, and eventually won it. He regained his memories, then got the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, Raphael's siblings, to regain theirs. Now they're working on smoothing things over and reuniting Heaven and Hell.
Sicktember: Hopelessly Bad at Self-Care, Curled Up With a Pet Whumptember: Lashing out Raphael just wanted five minutes to himself. That wasn't too much to ask, was it? After all, he was only one person (by a certain definition of person), and he could only do so much to reunite Heaven and Hell. But, of course, the first time he has a moment to breathe is when it all comes crashing down on his shoulders. Thank, well, not God, for Lilith.
can be read on AO3 or below the cut
Characters mentioned: (not necessary, but for context)
Raphael - Fallen Archangel, male. Not well-liked in Hell because he worked to thwart the Rebellion, and didn't Rebel. Legally blind.
Camael - Power, male. Raphael's partner from before his Fall, now his partner again after regaining his memory.
Michael - Raphael and Gabriel's sister, the first angel ever made. Leader of Heaven's army. Secondary leader of Heaven. Female.
Gabriel - Raphael and Michael's little brother, the third angel ever made. Leader of Heaven's army, messenger of Heaven. Male.
Berith - Fallen Virtue, now a Duke of Hell. One of the eight Fallen that guard the entrance and exit to Hell. Raphael's boss. Male.
Asmodeus - Fallen Cherub, now a King of Hell. One of the eight Fallen that guard the entrance and exit to Hell. Infamously lecherous. Male.
Lilith - Adam's first wife, Fell for refusing to obey him. Became close friends after Raphael took her under his wing. Female.
Lethe - Fallen Seraph. A relative nobody in Heaven, but a great Inventor. Turned into a humanoid water-monster in her Fall, guardian of the River Lethe. Close friend of Raphael. Female.
Agares - Fallen Power, now a Duke of Hell, with a massive grudge against Raphael. Male.
Rasiel - Angel. Therapist of Heaven. Was one of the angels who threw Raphael out of Heaven after being manipulated. Deeply regrets it. Male.
Kundaniel - Throne. Archivist. Female.
Andras - Fallen Principality, now a Marquis. One of the eight Fallen that guard the entrance and exit to Hell. Female.
Jehoel - Dominion, female. Uncertain on reuniting Heaven and Hell.
Terms, etc.:
Sphere - There are nine ranks of angel, each with a different title and duty. The higher the rank, the more powerful.
Hell's Hierarchy - A ranking system implemented by Lucifer in an attempt at creating order in Hell. Having a higher title doesn't mean the Fallen is more powerful, but they have more clout and, often, more Fallen and demons under their command.
Raphael, if he could, did all he could to stay out of Hell.
By and large, he did well. Having a phone now, Berith could text or call if he needed him. Lilith and Lethe handled wrangling the Fallen well, in convincing them to put out, and accept, olive branches to Heaven. In fact, it was best he stayed out of their way; time didn’t flow the same in Hell as it did on Creation, but it had still been aeons since the Fall, and he was still hated. If he was the one trying to unite Hell’s half of Heaven and Hell, it would go very poorly, very quickly.
That didn’t mean he was sitting on his ass, though.
Lilith knew nothing of Heaven, having been human before her Fall. And it was so easy to forget that, with how quickly she’d taken to Hell, nothing more than a duck to water. But he had to teach her about Heaven, and he found there was so much to teach. So much that he took for granted, social graces that came to him naturally, for all he’d never been particularly extroverted, left her floundering. That she had no ranking - that she was no Virtue, no Dominion nor Power nor Principality nor Virtue nor even Angel, caught him up too. Because Heaven, for all it tried to be equal, still relied on its ranks. The Dominions mentored even young Seraphim, Angels did tasks for everyone else. Romances and friendships spanned all Spheres, but everyone was well aware of what they were, and what everyone else was capable of.
A Virtue, even if only a single rank higher than a Power, was undeniably more powerful than a Power. Perhaps not stronger, but their divinity carried more of a punch, and they could do more with it. And a Power was more, well, powerful than a Principality.
So finding where Lilith fit into that threw him. Ranks were causing far more trouble than any of them had expected.
Because it wasn’t just Lilith who lacked a rank. The demons - those who’d never known Heaven, who’d been borne of Hell, not of Eden or Creation - didn’t either. None of them did, not even in Hell. Lucifer had never ranked even the most powerful of them, the most accomplished.
And that, too, was a problem. Not just in where the Fallen stood - was a Fallen Virtue to be treated the same as a Virtue in the Host? Or should they be treated as a Power, a Principality? As punishment for Rebelling so long ago? But then that would cause strife because no Fallen would accept being treated as lesser.
But Hell had its system now, too. It didn’t affect how powerful they were, as Heaven’s did. But they were treated in Hell as if they did, given control over legions of Hellish beings. Agares had been a Power before his Fall, stronger only than Principalities, Archangels, and Angels, weaker than the five other ranks. But in Hell, he’d been made a Duke, the second most powerful of the eight titles. Nine, if you counted those who had no title. Ten, if you counted the Grigori, who stood apart. Should he be treated as a middling Power? Or as something more powerful?
Raphael, Michael, and Gabriel were pulling their hair out over it.
And building relationships back with Heaven… well, that wasn’t exactly a cakewalk, either. Angels who got their memories back, realizing the Fallen they’d fought with, even killed, were angels they’d known once. Sometimes they’d been parental figures, older sibling figures, friends, or romantic partners. Other times they’d been child figures, in the case of Dominions who’d killed their charges, or little-sibling figures. Rasiel, as great as he was (as much as Raphael hated to admit it), could only help so many angels at once. And Raphael, apparently, was becoming the go-to for couples, or friends, or similar, who’d reunited and needed advice. After all, he and Camael had managed, so couldn’t he help them?
Every time he stepped foot in Heaven, it felt like he was being swarmed. And considering how isolated he’d been for the last… how many years? It had been over four and a half billion years on Earth, but time didn’t flow the same in Hell, and they didn’t perceive it the same besides, but that was still a damn long time. It was making him want to shove the next angel, Fallen, demon, human, or otherwise, who walked up to him and asked if he ‘had a moment’.
He’d have a fit, is what he’d have.
He loved spending time with his siblings, of course, and Camael, and catching up with them. It had been a very long time, after all. And Rasiel was doing all he could to make it up to him. Raphael couldn’t be prouder of his students; they’d all really come into their own. He was enjoying getting to know all the new angels who’d been made to heal - a good thing, seeing as Heaven had only grown larger and larger.
Going into Hell, though. Well, Creation wasn’t safe. Humans could be dangerous in their own way, and Creation had its own dangers; animals, of course, and nature itself. He still had nightmares of Pompeii. And Heaven wasn’t, either. There were more than a few angels who weren’t happy about Heaven and Hell reuniting. Though they’d tried, neither he, Raphael, Michael, Gabriel, or Camael had been able to work out why some of them Fell but others didn’t.
But Hell was still Hell. Hellhounds that reached his hip on the hunt, imps swarming to feast, Damned souls suffering. And, of course, Fallen taking out their hurts on others.
Hell (pun unintended), some Fallen weren’t even taking their hurts out on others. They’d had a very long time to get used to it. But that was just ‘how it’s done’, so they’d kept doing it. And the demons had followed in their stead. So, though not with the same fervor as they once had, many Fallen and demons made Hell treacherous.
Still, Raphael did have to go down to Hell sometimes. To meet with Lethe when she didn’t come up to see him. She’d tried to get a phone but kept breaking them when she forgot to put them somewhere safe before diving into her river. And imps were as far from reliable letter carriers as you could get. To meet with Lilith, when Hell’s notoriously faulty phone service failed them.
Or, like now, when he couldn’t find something he knew he had. He’d searched everywhere it could be in Heaven, which wasn’t many because he usually only brought himself Up. Had scoured his apartment, which hadn’t taken long, as spartan as he kept it. Had searched every one of his pocket dimensions, and hadn’t found the scrolls he needed. He’d even had Camael check his apartment, though there was no reason he’d have ever brought them over there.
He didn’t even know the contents of the scrolls, which he’d found and kept on a whim back in the days of the Achaemenid Empire. But Kundaniel was near-desperate for them, whatever they were.
There was only one other place he kept things, so he’d made his way through Hell. Well, that he kept things and knew where they were. He was pretty bad about losing things, but even he wasn’t bad enough to lose an armful of scrolls. Asmodeus had clung to him like a bad smell, as he always did, so it had been hours before he’d even gotten past the Guards. Andras, as always, was no help, only encouraging him.
Every time, he forgot how draining it was. Having to sneak on edge more than ever, looking over his shoulder to make sure he wasn’t followed. He hadn’t guarded the location of his home so jealously for so long just to have it found out by being inattentive.
The cave, he’d sworn when he’d settled in it, would never become home. But it had, in a way. In its familiarity, in the softness of his star-woven rug. In its illusion of safety, until he’d found those sigils that made it truly safe. Still, it didn’t hold a candle to his apartment now, with Camael not far away, fairy lights strung across the walls, and made perfect for his faulty eyesight.
The sigils, he noted as he sidled into the cave, needed to be touched up. If they wore away much more, they’d start letting in imps and lesser dangers.
Raphael took a deep breath as he stepped into his cave, looking around. It had been a while since he’d come to it, and he’d forgotten that he’d left it in a rush. His rug lay in a heap, constellations twinkling awkwardly. A pair of boots, in the fashion popular in the 60s, slumped against the far wall—he’d been intending on storing them, as he’d found them comfortable, but forgotten to. Next to them was a dirtied muslin gown he’d been attempting (rather poorly) to darn, dropped to the dirt in his hurry. He grimaced, looking around.
That damn ushabti laid in the center of the room, though he’d swear he’d stashed it away.
The cave wasn’t big enough for him to see particularly well - he could only really make out the edges of it - but the scrolls would have stuck out like a sore thumb. Even he could make out smears of tan against brown dirt.
He sighed again, pressing the heels of his palms against his eyes.
Where were the fucking scrolls?
Who lost scrolls? Who lost two-thousand-year-old scrolls?
Him, apparently.
“Fuck.”
Could one thing go right? He’d fumbled talking to Jehoel, Asmodeus had managed to cop a feel, he was fairly certain Michael was beginning to realize he couldn’t, in fact, see her seeing as he’d tripped over a polearm that had fallen but was, apparently, very visible. ‘Are you fucking blind?’ Had been Gabriel’s laughing words, but Michael, who was positioned just right for Raphael to be able to see her with absolute clarity, had had a look on her face he didn’t like. Camael, he was certain, was starting to realize something wasn’t right. Raphael had been stupid enough to stop paying so much attention in his apartment. Camael, for all he liked new things, loved familiarity; he’d had stainless steel, white everything, and glass tables since when neon was all the rage for house colors, and Raphael had never known him to get a new piece of furniture. Like Raphael, he moved every decade or so before anyone could start noticing his lack of aging. Even still, almost every apartment was laid out the same way.
So he’d been shocked when, looking at Camael as he talked, he’d stepped where he knew clear floor to be and felt the corner of the coffee table strike his shin. He’d fallen spectacularly, only able to be thankful that he’d landed off the table instead of on it because that would surely have been far more painful.
This was why he hated glass furniture.
Then again, if this was what came of using all his luck to get his family back, he wouldn’t complain. He’d take bad luck for the rest of his life if he had to.
The sigils flared an alert against his consciousness as he heard dirt shifting behind him. There wasn’t a sound of pain or a feeling of alarm, so he closed his eyes and took another deep breath.
“Hey Raphi,” Lilith said. He opened his eyes and stared at the far wall, then turned to greet her. He’d almost hoped it was someone with intent on harming him.
“Hey,” he said, perhaps a bit too harshly.
“You have a minute?” She asked, wiping dirt off her jeans.
Did he have a moment?
“Do I-?” His Adam’s apple bobbed. “Do I have a moment?” Lilith stared at him in obvious confusion. “Do I have a moment?” His voice rose in volume.
“I only have to figure out how to get Asmodeus not to act like a Goddamned nymphomaniac because angels are complaining, Berith to act like a person because he’s freaking people out, work out the ranks, figure out who the Hell keeps setting shit on fire in Heaven, figure out who keeps sending me holy water, get Agares off my back, play counselor to half of Heaven and Hell, and find these damn scrolls I couldn’t care less about! Yeah, I have all the time in the fucking world!”
Lilith blinked at him, wide-eyed. The chihuahua-shaped hellhounds at her feet shivered, but they always did that. “Well,” she finally said, “tell me how you really feel.”
His face flushed an ugly, blotchy silver. To keep from saying something he would certainly regret, or doing something he would certainly regret (he was getting better at thinking before he acted, Camael would be very proud of him), he spun on his heel and stalked to the center of the room.
Or maybe not, because he snapped “How I really feel?” He stooped, picking up the ushabti with his bare hands. The holy object met his skin with a sound like meat thrown on a hot, greased pan, and Lilith lurched towards him with an alarmed sound. “I feel like everyone should leave me the Hell alone for five damn minutes!”
Lilith smacked the ushabti out of his hand, sending it skittering across the dirt. “Are you insane?” She unpeeled his clenched fingers, hissing when steam rose from his blistering hand.
Canines elongating, he snarled.
“Just because you’re pissy doesn’t mean you can go off at me, damn!” Lilith scowled at him. “Or pick up something blessed with bare hands. You think you’re going to be useful to anyone without a hand?”
He tried to pull his hand away, but she had a very tight grip. She flicked her talons out, digging them into his flesh in warning. “You’re not going to be useful to anyone if you snap, you know. You need to take a break.”
Her brown eyes met his, and he had to look away. “A break? When do I have time for that?”
“You have to make time.” With that, he yelped as she shoved him away. His balance already precarious, he tripped. Bracing for a painful landing, he was startled to find himself landing on a pile of - were those furs? Animal pelts? Who still used animal pelt piles? Even in Hell, they’d largely made the switchover to sleeping bags, cots, and futons.
He blinked up at her owlishly. Before he could do more than push up onto his elbows, beginning to say “What’s wrong with you?”, she stooped down, picking up Momo.
Oh no.
Raphael hated many things. What humans had done to isicia omentata. Rome. Loud noises and bright lights. Dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets. Things that felt goopy. Fake tans. The word ‘supple’ in English, ‘dedo do pé’ in Portuguese, and ‘brustwarze’ in German. Horses. Clowns (they were just rip-offs of jesters. Jesters were better and looked less terrifying). Palm trees.
But he hated Momo and Nina, worst of all.
They were hellhounds, which meant he didn’t like them on principle. Hellhounds were nasty creatures, with a tendency to bite first and ask questions never. And they confused him. They confused all of Hell, actually. While she considered Momo male and Nina female, Hellhounds were sexless. No one knew how they reproduced, they just did. One day you had one, the next you had the one and a pack of hellfire-eyed, stone-toothed puppies with less self-control than regular dog puppies.
When you compressed that into a form small enough that a child could punt it and spoiled it out of Hell, you ended up with a hellhound that felt the need to prove itself. Or, in their case, two.
Nasty things, but she loved them to death. He’d been the one to help her pick them out of a litter they’d found in a cave, and he’d regretted it ever since.
Raphael scrambled to stand, but she was faster. Momo landed on his stomach, knocking the breath from his lungs. He froze - that little face was innocent, muzzle short and blunt, eyes wide and round, ears comically large, and Lilith kept his long, brown and white fur immaculate. But those teeth were far too long and far too sharp, and there was too much red in those brown eyes. Lilith let them nap in her lap for hours, but he’d seen how suddenly they could move, and how quickly they could cover ground. Of the many things he’d seen in his long life, Nina going from a dead sleep to ripping open an imp twenty feet down the tunnel was one of the scariest. He wouldn’t have time to twitch before Momo’s teeth were buried in his throat.
Momo plopped his butt down, plume-like tail wagging.
“Phone,” Lilith demanded, holding out her hand.
He refused to look away from Momo’s unblinking eyes. “What?”
“Give me your phone. You need a break. I’m getting you one.”
“I’m not-”
She stooped down, still holding out her hand. Raphael whimpered when she straightened, holding Nina threateningly in her other hand.
“Phone,” she said, grinning. His fear of them was a never-ending source of amusement for her. Nina yipped, wriggling, paddling her hind legs where they dangled. The light that came off the single torch in his cave shone oddly against her blueish, brown-orange and white, disturbingly short fur.
Raphael whimpered in horror as Momo leaned forward to lick his chin.
“I know your phone has voice… whatever it’s called. I’m not afraid to use it. You want me to call them through your pants?”
She stretched out her arm, dangling Nina over him.
Raphael gave her his phone.
Nina landed in his lap. He yelped, going rigid, as she circled to get comfortable. Her pin-prick nails dug into his legs.
He yelped, startled, as Lilith flopped down onto the furs beside him. “Your phone makes me sad,” she said, flicking between Michael, Gabriel, and Camael’s contacts. “You need to add stickers, or a nice case, or a keychain. Just, make it look less like an old man phone?”
“’s not an old man phone,” Raphael grumbled. Even if it was, wasn’t he technically an old man? But he liked his phone. It was black and white and plain and sturdy. It didn’t have any of those ridiculous extra things people added. Who needed pop-out things on the back? Or sparkly cases? Just seemed a waste of time and money to him. “I like it.”
He went cross-eyed as, Nina having curled up in his lap, Momo leaned forward to lick his nose.
“You make me sad,” Lilith said.
Lilith told him that a lot.
“Now lie down,” she pushed down on his chest. He went down with a grunt. Momo flopped forward, curling up on his chest, and immediately began to snore. Smoke puffed from his nostrils with every breath in time with the smoke pluming from Nina’s, like she were some tiny dragon.
“You are going to sleep,” Lilith said, twisting to rest her head on his shoulder, pinning him down, “for at least a few hours. Then you are going to relax for a few days.”
“But-”
“Raph, you’re a dick when you’re stressed. You want to blow all this up because someone asked you for a moment when you were trying to take a break? Angels are already trying to prove we’re not safe to be around.”
She did have a point. He sighed. Momo grunted, squirming to get comfortable. His nails dug into Raphael’s chest to hold him still.
“I don’t like you.”
Lilith grinned, knowing she’d won. “Love you too.” She flicked to Michael’s contact (that they had become fast friends worried him. They could take over Heaven, Hell, and Creation if they put their heads together) and pressed call.
He had a pocket-sized apex predator on his chest and another on his lap.
How she expected him to sleep, he had no idea.

Emily Andras: “But I still watch Xena sometimes. And like remember… it was still good at the time. It was still fun.”
KIMBERLY: “But so painful.”
EMILY ANDRAS: “It’s so painful but also like… they couldn’t take it away from you what you saw and what millions of people saw. Do you know what I mean? And communities were built off subtext. It was incredible.”
KIMBERLY: “We were lucky to get subtext back then. So to get the wedding and get the relationship is still somewhat mindblowing to me.”
EMILY ANDRAS: “Yes, which is crazy. I know.”
Subtext is painful for some. Not for me. It honestly does really just depend on the intention of the creator. If it’s only subtext used to bait you in to keep watching the show, then it can be painful. But if that’s genuinely all you have - all you can have - then no, I don’t think so. In fact I prefer subtext ‘cause less textually stated relationships tend to be the most realistic and natural ones because there’s no need to spell out what it is. Like you can see what it is for yourself. There’s no real life couples that have to confirm that they’re a couple. You know? It’s just … you know. It can be perceived.
Xena stands out among the masses of subtextual WLW relationships because it was canon. It was genuinely a romantic/sexual relationship between Xena and Gabrielle. It just wasn’t ALL that their relationship was. And that matters to me so much. So yeah, I prefer it not necessarily subtextual but less stated than maintextual if it genuinely is the truth.
Like you don’t need to constantly be pointing it out. It only makes it seem cheap if you need to be doing that.
Just depict it. Represent it. Encourage it.
Let the audience see whatever they want to see in it because subtext is not a bad thing unless you’re intentionally using it that way and we can see it. Unless you’re doing a SwanQueen or a SuperCorp.
Then it’s going to be painful because it’s not sincere.

“Well?” he asks, stopping at some distance from the castle, his face upturned to the stars.
“Well, what?” Trevor turns to him.
“What did you want to ask me about?” Alucard crosses his arms; he could be mistaken, but most often than not, it hits the mark.
Trevor shakes his head. “No, I don’t know what you’re… no, you know what? Yeah, I did have a question.”
Alucard braces himself. But they stayed. They stayed. Unbidden, his thought flies back to another starry night, to the hunter splayed beneath him, to the balm of his words and the warmth of him, the wet silk he’s scraped with his teeth. “Tell me.”
Trevor takes a deep breath; his heartbeat quickens; the scent of his blood is powerful, heady as it swirls around him, and for a moment he forgets the crime and the spill of his elder’s blood, the mirror and even his mother’s last words to him in a dream of flame.
“I know little about your…” he stops, looking Alucard over, sighing. “You barely eat when we eat. You look like shit.”
Alucard nods, though his heart drops to his feet. How does one admit to choosing death over harming another? How does one make it believable? The question comes from an honest place. He can’t fault it. Trevor Belmont fears him not, that much he knows. Still.
His eyes see through the darkest night, and now Alucard garners the unease on Trevor’s face, as one who feels guilt even as they deal the blow. “No, Belmont, I do not require human blood to survive.”
A pause. Silence. A shift. “But you do... uh, need it, sometimes?”
Alucard looks towards the castle, and from the distance he sees Sypha there, on the long suspended bridge, gazing out with her arms folded over the balustrade. Trevor looks too, following the direction of his stare. “It would speed the healing process if gravely wounded, and it would enhance my powers, to an extent.” He falls silent for a few beats of the hunter's heart. “But, to fully answer your question, I don’t depend on consuming blood. Not as a full-fledged vampire would.”
“All right,” Trevor says, and asks no more on the matter.
Alucard breathes; easier. “May I ask you something in turn?” he starts as they walk back towards the castle together.
“Mm. Like for like. Sure, shoot.”
“While you were ill, you kept repeating names of… people.”
A sigh. “Such as?”
Alucard runs his tongue over his teeth. “… Amelia?”
Trevor says nothing for a long, long while, and Alucard doesn’t press him. Perhaps he should not have asked. Old pains scar, but they’re still there, their presence lingering like black oil on the limpid surface of water. Curse him, he should not have asked.
“Amelia was my eldest sister.”
Alucard looks back at the hunter, taking in his hunched shoulders, the heaviness settled over his bearing.
“She was the first to pick up the profession, went on many hunts with my father Gabriel, taught the rest of us most of what she knew when he couldn’t.”
“How many siblings did you have?”
Trevor sighs. “There were seven of us. Four sisters. Amelia.” He kicks a pebble with his boot. “Lidia.” Another pebble. “Mona.” Silence. “Miriam. And two twin brothers, Simon and Andras. I was the youngest of us. I could barely snap a whip.”
“And neither of them—”
“Dead,” Trevor mutters. “All of them. Before I fled here.”
“I’m… I am sorry,” Alucard murmurs. Curse him, curse him, curse him.
“Doesn’t matter,” says Trevor, pinching the bridge of his nose, his voice gravelly and curt. “Not anymore. The robed bastards with blades and decrees ensured that. Can we talk about something else now?”
“I did not mean to pry, Trevor,” Alucard says, as the man’s dread and hurt seeps through him with the force of a tidal wave. He didn’t mean to, but he did; how strange the realization of loss, to see beyond his own guilt and the trappings of his own pain, to learn of what others lived through, what they’ve seen and survived. And the hunter’s wounds and sorrow, so similar to his own, grip him and coil about his heart like smothering, hungry serpents.
Trevor stops in his tracks. “Wait…”
Alucard turns to him. “What?”
“Say that again.”
“... I did not mean to—”
Trevor groans. “No, you arse. My name.”
“Oh.” Alucard blinks, taken aback by his own realization. He licks his lips. “Trevor.”
The hunter nods, and looks up, at Sypha on the long, ragged-edged bridge uniting two wings of the castle. He glances back at Alucard. “Keep using it.”

discord chat: mx. and mrs. valentine
SUMMARY: In a beautiful ceremony held on September 21st in front of all of their family and friends, Cupid and Belphegor officially tie the knot. The two profess their love for the world to see as they compete the second in a series of three trials to give Belphegor the power to oust the Void forever.  TRIGGERS: Mentions of past depression and suicidal ideation WRITTEN WITH: @ofhellsbells, @mazikeenofmurders, @ofsamwinchester, @mcrninqstar, @zztophat, @ofwarriors, @ofdeathstouch, @ofguardian, @ofpossemagnet, @ofwaywardsouls (Abaddon), @hallowedmuses (Dagon, Nadia), @ofbrokenhalos (Aamon, Andras, Asmodeus), @offallenfeathers (Beelzebub, Gabriel, Ouelette, Valefar)
CUPID: Cupid was nervous, but in a good way. Today was the day she became Mrs. Belphegor Valentine. The bridal party which consisted of her friends the virtues, almost all of Belphegor's hell siblings, and Dagon had already walked down the aisle. She imagined Bells was walking down it now, escorted by Raphael. Cupid bounced on her heels, brimming with excited energy. She just wanted to see them already, but she was still hidden from sight behind an intricate wooden door.
The music changed slowly to the bridal march. Bells had made it down the aisle and now it was her turn. She took a deep breath as one of the attendants passed her bouquet to her. The attendant squeezed Cupid's shoulder to remind her to let out the breath. Cupid did so as the beautiful oak doors opened up to the outdoor garden. All eyes turned to look at the bride as she made her appearance.
For a moment, Cupid was unable to move with all of those eyes staring back at her. She hadn't realized how many friends she and Belphegor had acquired over the years. They'd all made it out here for this special occasion. Her heart leapt when her eyes landed on Bells. They looked absolutely radiant and stunning. A happy tear rolled down her cheek and her shaky legs started moving as she walked down the aisle slowly at first in time to the music like she and Chastity had practiced. However, as soon as Belphegor was closer in sight, her stride picked up speed and the pianist also picked up to try and keep up with her. Nothing was visible to her anymore except Bells radiant smile and their welcoming stance.
She met them at the end of the aisle and that was where tradition stopped because she couldn't help herself. She leaned in and kissed them where they stood which caused a giggle to flow through the crowd. It was very much like Cuphegor to never hold back.
BELPHEGOR: Belphegor had been to plenty of weddings, usually ones where they tagged along with Cupid, but it was different when it was their own. They weren't sitting in the pews with everyone else. They'd walked down the aisle to be right up front and center. Despite the fact that this was possibly one of the biggest moments of their life, since it was both their marriage and one piece of a series of trials to save the people in the Empty, they didn't feel nervous. They were excited of course. They were anticipating the moment that Cupid would walk through those doors, so they could see her and marry her, but it was surprisingly one of the few times where they felt like something was going wrong. They felt relaxed and happy. They were in their smaller form, but they did have a second suit on standby in case their form changed. However, there was so much love in their heart and in their eyes that Belphegor hadn't shown any sign of needing to change.
Even as the door opened, they just felt more relaxed. Cupid looked magnificent in her pretty pink dress. They loved that color on her, and she just looked so natural in it, like she could be doing anything in it, and it would still seem as normal and fitting for her like it was just any other day. They felt like they were comfortable at their apartment in bed and she'd just gotten home to see them. They stepped down to meet Cupid at the end of the aisle. They didn't really care whatever tradition said as she leaned in to kiss them. They pulled her in closer with one arm around her hip and their other hand holding the back of her neck, careful not to ruin her hair as they kissed her. "You're breathtaking," they told her as they pulled out of the kiss. They're hand brushed her cheek for a moment to hold her face in view before they took one of her hands to lead her up the steps for the ceremony.
LUCIFER: Lucifer hadn't expected to cry but the waterworks started almost as soon as Belphegor walked in. Luckily, he was well prepared as he dabbed his eyes with a handkerchief. In his eyes, Cuphegor had been married for centuries already but it was nice to make it official. Both he and Belphegor had a difficult few centuries when it came to figuring out this love thing, but things were getting better. He was proud of the progress Bells had made both in learning about love and learning about themself.
His attention shifted from his sibling to Cupid when the great oak doors opened. Cupid looked lovely and commanded the attention of the room as soon as she walked in. Her dress was a stunning pink number with floral detailing. It suited her and made her look effortlessly ethereal. An infectious grin crossed his face as he watched Cupid speed walk down the aisle toward Belphegor. He glanced toward the crowd, smiling as his eyes landed on Maze. One day, she'd be walking down a similar aisle toward him. And he couldn't wait.
NADIA: She loved weddings mostly because she loved to eat and she loved to party. Tonight was no exception. She was seated with the rest of the right hands and a handful of royals. Her dad was standing at the front with the rest of Belphegor’s wedding party which included her uncles, aunt, and Dagon. They all looked adorable but her dorky dad in particular made her smile. She could tell he was happy for his sibling. Her attention turned to the nearlywed. Bells was always excited when it came to seeing Cupid. There wasn’t a hint of nervousness on their face. They’d only learned about love recently, but it was as if they’d been preparing for this moment their whole life. In a way, they had. Bells and Cupid had been together for as long as Nadia could remember, longer even. While it had been a difficult year, she was glad she was around to finally witness this moment. As the door opened to reveal Cupid, Nadia’s grin widened. Her angelic friend and fellow chaos maker looked breathtaking while remaining entirely true to herself. “I hope they like the cake,” Nadia whispered to the person beside her as Cupid made her way into Belphegor’s arms. She’d say it was made with all the love in the world, but she was pretty sure all the love in the world was present here right now for this very moment.
DAGON: She spent not just the whole day, but rather her whole life preparing for this moment. From the day she met Belphegor, it was evident that life would always lead them to this moment. Life had, of course, taken some twists and turns, but Dagon was glad they’d made it to this final destination. The entire morning was an emotional one. She spent it laughing over happy memories while helping Bells get ready, celebrating all of the challenges they’d overcome, and crying just a little for the ones who couldn’t be here today like Gears. Of course, there were touches of Belgirel in just about everything at this wedding.
Dagon managed to hold it together on the walk down the aisle. She and Chastity were the first ones to start this off. Slowly, but surely, the Demon Princes began to fill in the spots behind Dagon while the Virtues filled in the spots behind Chastity. It was nice to see everyone walking in. She could feel the love and pride radiating off of all of them. They were excited to be here, but not nearly as excited as Belphegor. Happy tears, which her head of snakes helped wipe from her face, rolled down her cheeks as soon as Bells appeeared. She was so happy for them and she was sure Gears would be too. As they got to the end of the aisle, Dagon stepped down and embraced them. Her snakes briefly enveloped them in a hug as well.  “You look great,” she whispered. “Let’s get you married.” She helped Bells into position in front of the raised podium before taking her spot back with the rest of the wedding party.
The music changed and the great oak doors opened up to reveal Cupid. The doe eyed angel looked overwhelmed but only for a moment. Her entire face seemed to light up the moment she laid eyes on Belphegor. Dagon and Cupid had their differences, but there was no denying that Cupid loved Belphegor probably more than she loved anything else in the world. She watched the angel glide down the aisle and into Belphegor’s arms. Dagon laughed and wiped at her tears as the two bucked tradition and kissed once reaching the end of the aisle. She couldn’t blame them for being excited. Their love was worth celebrating.
ZATANNA: She couldn’t say she ever officiated a wedding until now. She was nervous and she’d gone over the lines with Cupid and Bells multiple times just to make sure she’d do all of this according to their wishes. Of course, some things had to be tweaked for the sake of the trial spell, but she did her best to still make this feel bridal. The time for practice was over now. Zatanna was standing at the alter which was decorated with bridal confections but definitely carried more than your standard mason jars of unity sand. She watched tenderly as Belphegor’s family and Cupid’s friends filed down the aisle and took their place on either the bride or nearlywed’s side. Dagon and Lucifer were already crying which wasn’t super surprising, but it was sweet to see how happy they were for the pair.
Belphegor themself looked comfortable and content as they walked down the aisle with Raphael. Zatanna ventured to guess it wasn’t all the rehearsals that made them this comfortable but rather the fact that they were genuinely ready to be Cupid’s spouse. She knew this was in the making for a long time and she was glad they were finally here.
She smiled when the doors opened, and Cupid appeared. The angel started slow at first, like they’d rehearsed, but not too far in she was practically sprinting down the aisle. Zatanna bit back a giggle and glanced into the crowd at Michael. They, too, were engaged. And they, too, would be walking down the aisle one day. Hopefully at a more steady pace because the pianist looked like she was tired. The mage grinned at the pair as they made their way up the steps to the alter. The lights changed as soon as the two of them stepped into a sigil which was only visible from their vantage point and no one elses. Zatanna instructed the pair to face each other and hold hands as she turned to address the audience.
“Ladies, Gentlemen, Angels, Demons, and Eldritch beings alike, thank you for joining us today in celebration of Cupid, Belphegor, and the love that they share for one another. I’m new to this, both officiating and also this family,” she began. “I’ve gotten to know a lot of you over the last few years, but Cupid and Belphegor especially. I think it’s customary for the officiant to share a story or two about the love these two individuals share, but I couldn’t possibly just pick one. The love that Belphegor and Cupid have for each other is so strong it could probably be seen from galaxies far and wide. I’ve never met two individuals more willing to go above and beyond for each other than these two. So, I will let them share in their own words both to you and to each other what their love means to them both past, present, and future.” Zatanna took a step back and allowed Cuphegor to have the room.
AAMON: The lead up to today was emotional. During preparation, he’d spotted Dagon and Belphegor attempting to figure out which order Belphegor’s regalia pins went. All their lives, they could never remember the order, but in their defense there were a lot of pins. So, he stepped in and helped them. He didn’t detect a hint of nervousness in Belphegor. They were ready for this. Aamon’s relationship with Bell’s affianced hadn’t always been the best, but over the last year he’d gotten to know Cupid more. He couldn’t condone the lies she’d told, but he could also see her for what she was. She tried her best in a harsh environment that offered her little in the way of guidance and support. And she did everything she could by Belphegor to atone for her wrongdoings. That was all Aamon could ask for. The union had his blessing and he made sure both the bride and the nearlywed knew this.
Standing in formation with the rest of his siblings, he watched the two walk down the aisle and smiled. He couldn’t see love the way that Cupid could, but there was no doubt in his mind that these two individuals loved each other. Like always, a part of him wished Belgirel was here to see it. He deserved an honored spot up here with all of them. But fate wouldn’t have it so. As Belphegor and Cupid made their way up to the alter with Zatanna, Aamon held his hand out in a way that would allow Dagon to grip it. Weddings were an emotional affair. On top of balancing her own feelings, she would be picking up on everyone elses too. The best he could do right now was to help her stay grounded.
ANDRAS: Andras didn’t go to weddings often, not unless he was crashing them with his friends. But he’d actually been invited to this one. He was seated in the pews with Nadia, Lette, and the rest of the right hands. He didn’t really understand love all that much, but it was at least hard to deny that since Cupid met Belphegor, she’d wanted to bone them. And that feeling hadn’t gone away despite all their hardships so here they were. Andras was happy for them. They were both dressed to the nines and looked particularly bangable. It was a shame to have them both off the market, but it wasn’t like either of them gave him the time of day. He just hoped at the end of this they’d give each other a good night. They deserved it.
ASMODEUS: He’d loved weddings once upon a time. But ever since Lailah’s death, he’d largely avoided them. Until today. This was the exception. This particular marriage had been in the making for as long as he could remember. Had it not been for the war, he was sure it would’ve happened sooner, as would his own, but life took some detours. The important thing was that Belphegor and Cupid were finally at this junction in their lives.
He’d seen both of them throughout the day as they were getting ready. Cupid was anxious, as was her nature, but she was excited too. They’d talked and although certain aspects of today weren’t exactly what she imagined would be included in her wedding, she was still happy and felt secure. It helped that Belphegor was more sure of themself in this decision than Asmo had seen them be about any other decision in their entire life. This wasn’t being done because the trial called for a union of souls. This was being done because these two souls were in love. Despite the fact that love had left him with his own scars, he was always happy to celebrate the love of others. He wiped a tear from his face as his younger sibling walked down the aisle toward them. For the first time in their life, they actually looked grown up. He laughed along with the rest of the audience as Cupid ran to them and kissed them. She was never one to hold back and neither were they. Love was just in their nature.
MICHAEL: He’d spent the day helping Zatanna prep for the ritual. She was nervous, but they managed to find a way to make the trial fit as seamlessly as they could with the actual wedding ceremony. In the process, they’d talked a bit about their own. It was still exhilarating to Michael that he himself was engaged. He never really understood the hype behind weddings until he considered his own. Magic or not, it was a binding of souls and a promise to love each other no matter what. If there was anyone who embodied that concept, it was Cupid and Belphegor. It was a long time coming, but he was happy to finally see them make it to this junction in their lives.
He was seated in the pews with some of his family and few of the right hands now. They’d been making pleasant small talk about the venue and the bride and nearlywed before the ceremony. Each one of them had some sort of amazing, fantastical, or nonsensical story to share about the love they’d witnessed between Cupid and Belphegor. He’d shared a story or two about how the two of them had pulled the wool over his eyes a few times which seemed to provide for some good laughs. All in all, everyone here was happy to celebrate this union, himself included. He found himself smiling as he watched Belphgor jaunt confidently down the aisle. He was proud of them in this moment. There was no hesitation and no fear in their eyes. They were ready for this. He laughed, a deep sort of laugh, as Cupid ran into Belphegor’s arms. There was no denying that the two loved each other and that was a bond not even the Void could break.
CHARLIE: Ever since her death, she avoided weddings. She’d made a mistake with her own but there was one thing she was sure of: nothing about Cupid and Belphegor’s wedding was a mistake. She’d gotten to know the two well over the centuries. Their love for one another was evident from day one. Both were willing and had thrown their lives on the line for each other. They loved each other and she was happy to celebrate that love. Maybe on day they’d have a ceremony to celebrate her’s too. She never thought she’d be ready to make that jump again, but here she was. She took Sam’s hand in hers and leaned her head on his shoulder. “Don’t let me bump into any plants,” she giggled. “Orchids in particular. They’re moody.” Chastity had at least assured here that all the plants here were enchanted and thus harder to kill.
She lifted her head and turned to look toward the back as the music started up. Belphegor stepped out with Raphael, both looking regal as ever. Charlie felt both a sense of giddiness and pride as she watched them walk down the aisle. They’d had a rough go of things, but Belphegor had grown so much over the year. It was nice to see them flourish as much as the flowers around her. They made it down the aisle without a hitch and then it was Cupid’s turn. For a moment, the angel seemed stunned by the crowd turn out, but as soon as her eyes landed on Belphegor she was cruising down that aisle. “Goodness,” Charlie giggled as Cupid ran into Belphegor’s arms. A few individuals in the crowd clapped and she was one of them. Cuphegor’s enthusiasm about one another was always Charlie’s favorite trait about them. She was happy they were finally here in this moment.
DEAN: Dean wasn’t the marrying kind, but he enjoyed a good wedding. It was a chance to eat, party, and drink and those were all things he liked to do. He also enjoyed the couple. They were troublemakers and a bit quirky, sure, but they had heart. He knew their story and knew this was in the making for a long time so he was glad he got to witness it. He was seated in the crowd with his brother, Charlie, a few Archangels, and some of the right hands. Despite the fact that he got the vibe that most of them weren’t the marrying kind, they all seemed pretty excited to be here. Even Abaddon looked less intimidating than she usually was though he made sure to take the seat furthest away from her.
It was nice seeing Belphegor all confident and excited while walking down the aisle. This was a pretty big wedding, more massive than anything Dean had ever been to. Cuphegor knew a lot of people. But despite that, the size of the crowd didn’t seem to intimidate them one bit. He could see from Cupid’s face she was a little taken aback by the size of the crowd, but as soon as she spotted Belphegor she was zooming down the aisle. He chuckled because the piano player was having a hard time keeping up with her. His ears perked up when Nadia mentioned food. “You and Beel catered?” he whispered back. “Sweeeeeeet.” He was even more excited now. He wasn’t a fan of cake, but he was sure they would’ve considered pie too, especially if they knew he was on the guest list. He hoped the speeches would go fast. He was hungry.
ABADDON: She was seated on one side of Andras and Ouelette was seated on the other. It was the only way the two could ensure he didn’t do anything stupid today. She was sure if he did, Aamon would kill him and this time there would be no talking him down. Thankfully, her younger brother seemed to get the memo and was behaving himself even if this wasn’t necessarily his usual scene. It wasn’t really Abaddon’s scene either. She considered marriage once, but that was a long time ago. While she wouldn’t consider it for herself again she was happy for Belphegor and Cupid. She’d gotten to know them pretty well over the last year. Like Aamon, she distrusted Cupid at first but as time went on she was just angry on behalf of the angel. If the kid had someone in her life to stand up for her, things might not have gone on for as long as they did. But that was neither here nor there now. She and Belphegor had come to a common ground and Abaddon supported their union. As they both walked down the aisle, it was undeniable that they loved each other. Abaddon hoped that would be enough to get them through the hard times ahead.
RAPHAEL: Raph loved weddings, but especially this wedding. It held a special place in their heart, as did Cupid and Belphegor. Raphael had seen their love blossom and grow since they were kids. The older Archangel did what they could to protect that love and allow it to grow even in the face of war. It took longer than expected to get to this moment, but the important thing was that they were here. They were, of course, honored when Belphegor asked them to walk them down the aisle and hand them off. Raphael had to give them away once already during the war, but this was a much happier handoff. They said yes without hesitation.
In the back room, Belphegor was brimming with excitement and anticipation. It was nice to see the change. They’d been a little down ever since visiting the Empty. Raphael offered their arm as the music started up. The big wooden doors opened and the two of them stepped confidently out. Belphegor walked tall and regal just as they’d practiced. There was an excited bit of swagger in their step that made Raphael grin. They made it down the aisle in no time. Raphael placed a kiss atop their forehead before Bells transitioned over to Dagon. The Archangel took a seat at the pew near the front beside Michael and Gabriel.
They turned their head as the music changed signaling that it was Cupid’s turn to walk. She’d chosen to walk independently as her own woman, and they supported that. For a moment, she looked frightened by the sizes of the crowd, but her form held steady. When she spotted Belphegor, she grinned and began moving toward them. Raphael was proud of the progress she’d made just as much as they were proud of Belphegor’s progress. Both the angel and the demon prince had gained a lot of confidence over the last year. There were some drawbacks and hurdles but nothing the two couldn’t overcome. While this union between them was a part of a greater trial, there was no denying that trial or no trial, the two loved each other and would’ve ended up here sooner rather than later. Raphael grinned as Cupid’s walk gained speed. The pianist had a difficult time keeping up with her but it was no matter. A few moments later, she was in Belphegor’s arms planting a big kiss on their lips. Raphael clapped along with Charlie. They settled in, tissues in hand, as Zatanna announced that Belphegor and Cupid would be reciting their own vows. While Raphael knew the two of them loved each other, the reassurance would do both of them some good in the months to come.
BEELZEBUB: Like just about everyone else, Beelzebub had known Cupid and Belphegor were always destined to be together. Even when he'd learned the truth of their curse, he didn't have a doubt that they'd get here. It wasn't under the circumstances that he expected. He doubted that this was exactly the wedding that Cupid had always wanted, but the base of it all was what she'd always wanted. They loved each other, and they both knew what that meant. Belphegor, despite not always knowing what love meant, seemed especially excited about all of this. He wasn't sure if their confidence was just in the knowledge that they were marrying the person they loved, or if they were just collecting all the pride in the room into themself. He couldn't help adding to it if that was the case. He wasn't sure how many of them could actually do what Bells was doing and what they had done. They were under a lot of pressure, but when Cupid entered the room it was clear she was the only thing on their mind.
They both had zeroed in on each other. Cupid had always been running to Belphegor growing up, and while this time wasn't all that different, Belphegor stepped forward to meet her too. Their kiss hadn't been in the rehearsals, but it wasn't unexpected in Beelzebub's opinion. It was a lot to ask Cupid and Belphegor to spend the day away from each other until that moment and not expect a display of love.
GABRIEL: Although Gabriel typically buried himself in work, there was no chance he would miss this momentous occasion. There weren't many times where his siblings got married. Most of them avoided feelings of love like the plague. Gabe did too, but it was more incidental than intentional. It was a byproduct of keeping himself so busy. He'd been in love before but hadn't found anything else like that. Gabriel was happy that Belphegor was able to stick to the person they loved. Even without their fears surrounding love, so many of them had lost the people they'd attached themselves to: Asmo, Val, and Gabe had all lost their loves to death. Lucifer and Beel lost theirs to happenstance, but since their family started coming together more, more of them were accepting love back in. Belphegor had started understanding their love for Cupid and were getting married now. Michael had proposed to Zatanna. Maze had finally admitted her feelings for Lucifer, and even Belgirel had used what little time he had out of the Empty to tell Dagon he loved her. Their family was doing much better on the love front. He was sure that was making Cupid happy as well as his siblings.
He'd brought Andromeda along as his plus one. They'd both missed their siblings' wedding before, so it was nice to have her with him at this one. She was more fun to talk to than most of his siblings too. They'd been talking up until everyone started walking down the aisles. Being in charge of the virtues, he was proud of them too. Most of them had been upset with all the archangels (Gabriel especially) for the lies they'd told regarding Belphegor, and he was glad that they were all here to support Cupid while being polite with the demon princes. Gabriel had been working with them on not being so controlled by their virtues, and some of them were making decent progress on it. Humility had accepted a compliment and agreed with how nice she looked today. Charity had allowed Lette to convince her to buy an expensive necklace for herself. Abstinence had joined Beelzebub for a decently sized meal and drinks. She wasn't able to consume much, but it was still a start just accepting the invitation from someone who was supposed to be her opposite. Diligence had found the time to take some breaks, which Gabriel couldn't say he taught him anything about that. If Chastity was having sex, Gabriel wasn't asking about it, but she was at least allowing herself to seriously consider dating. She had a boyfriend now who everyone seemed to call the Rock. He was sitting in the row behind them now. The guy was massive, but he seemed to care about Chastity at least. The other virtues hadn't made as much progress, but he was still hopeful. He gave them all a pair of thumbs up as they situated themselves in line.
As Raphael walked with Belphegor down the aisle, he wasn't sure who was happier between them. Belphegor looked so confident, and Raphael's perception of their feelings were obviously amplifying their own. No one would've been more fitting to walk Belphegor down the aisle besides their old mentor. As Raphael sat down between Michael and him, Gabriel gave them a quick hug around their shoulder along with whispers of approval.
Then came Cupid. She was dressed beautifully, looking ethereal against the backdrop of her wedding. Several of Cupid and Belphegor's artist friends were already starting on paintings of them once they kissed at the end of the aisle. Gabriel chuckled at the early display of affection, but no one really minded. It made this whole thing feel a little lighter.
MAZIKEEN: Unless it was in anger, Maze wasn't usually the emotional type, and this wasn't any different . . . for the first few minutes. Once Lucifer had made it up to the front, she'd been flirting with him and undressing him with her eyes, though he looked more than a little sexy in his clothes too. It was once Belphegor walked in that all of this really hit her. She hadn't known Belphegor as long as the other angels, fallen or otherwise. Even Nadia and Ruby had grown up knowing them before Mazikeen, but that didn't change the fact that they were important to her. She'd felt like they were a problem that she needed to keep track of when she was younger, and then she'd felt like she was their babysitter. As Lucifer became her best friend, they became more like family. She watched them grow, and keeping them out of trouble became more about making sure they were okay because she cared about them. The same went for Cupid. She acted annoyed by them constantly, but she loved them both. Seeing Belphegor like this pulled on her heart. They looked so grown up, and she felt like a proud parent. Her eyes were stinging as tears tried to push out, and she was holding them back. She glared at Lucifer like that was his fault somehow. It was. He'd made her mushy. Damn him. She turned her attention back to Cupid, watching as Cupid's uncertainty faded away once her eyes landed on Belphegor. Belphegor looked just as stunned by her as she was by them. It was just like them to be so wrapped up in each other that they didn't consider their surroundings. As Maze laughed with the crowd, a few tears managed to spill out. She wiped them away quickly. At least everyone's eyes were on the wedding couple.
OUELETTE: Despite the fact that Ouelette was the type of person who distanced herself from the idea of love, she'd been to millions of weddings before, many of which were her own. She'd never been in love with any of those people. She'd learned early on how fun it could be entice men into marrying her and then taking them for everything they were worth. She'd always considered it a fair trade. The people she targeted never loved her and just wanted a trophy wife that they could parade around, and she wanted their money. It was only fair. All that considered, Ouelette had had many extravagant weddings, just about every variation of ones she could have, and she couldn't help comparing this one to hers too. There were obviously certain things she would change, but she'd had one like this before. She'd had a big flower phase at one point in her life that she considered a little embarrassing now, but it was really just a matter of her tastes changing through the ages. All things considered, it was a good wedding, just to Cupid and Belphegor's tastes, which was . . . an odd conjunction to say the least. Cupid and Belphegor didn't have to worry about expenses though. Most immortal beings didn't when they could constantly accumulate wealth. Except Charity maybe. She tended to give away every bit of wealth she collected, though Ouelette had gotten her to spend a significant amount on herself. She only did it because Ouelette promised to give her the money to pay for it and send that same amount to a charity of her choice, but you win some, you lose some. Ouelette considered it a win overall. It looked good on her, though not as good as Cupid did.
She was a little surprised that Cupid didn't go with a pure white dress given the whole thing about virgins wearing white, but it was an outdated trend anyways. Few people who wore white actually were virgins, and given that the virtues were no longer tied to their virtues, it actually seemed a little fitting to not have chastity play a part in her dress color. She wouldn't have to worry about guests wearing white to her wedding at least. Certainly no one would have a dress as extravagant. Even Valefar and Ouelette had dressed down for the occasion to make sure it didn't seem like they were trying to steal the show from her. They were considerate like that, and deep down they were both trying to avoid thinking about what all this reminded them of. Albeit, Ouelette was better at it.
She turned her attention to Nadia as she talked about the cake she and her dad had baked. Dean's excitement was understandable, and his hunger surely was only enhanced by the presence of Nadia and Beelzebub, who could undoubtedly feel his hunger. With their level of cooking, he'd have more than his fill. "There's not a chance in the world that they don't love it," she assured her best friend, squeezing her hand as Zatanna started speaking.
SAM: Sam had a soft spot for weddings. He'd always been a romantic at heart, but life had just thrown so many curve balls his way. He'd been ready to marry Jessica, had the ring picked out and everything, and then she died. There'd been a few people since then that he'd considered marrying too. Technically, he had gotten married once, but given that Becky put him under a love spell, he didn't count it and didn't like to even think about it. For a long time, he doubted he'd ever be able to get married. The life of a hunter was too dangerous, but deep down, he never really stopped wanting to settle down with someone he loved. Now, he was in love with Charlie. He had all the precautions. She'd been a reaper, which made her hard to kill. She wasn't one of the bad guys. She wasn't a monster that he had to hunt. Dean didn't feel like he needed to kill her either. None of the love he felt for her seemed to have any of God's manufacturing. God wasn't even in the universe, and this wasn't some kind of love spell either. It was all real. He should've learned from Amelia better to make sure her ex husband didn't come back for her, but in his defense, Will actually was dead. He just managed to possess a body. It had set back any plans he had for a proposal, not just because Charlie's death had scared him or because they couldn't so much as touch for a while after she became Death, but because it had a serious impact on Charlie. It had been almost a year since that incident though, and after talking to the people she'd known for longer, including but not limited to Mazikeen, Lucifer, Cupid, Belphegor, Chastity, and Asmodeus, Sam felt more confidant in how he planned to propose to her. He couldn't wait to see her walking down the aisle to him in her own wedding dress. This wedding made him even more excited for it.
He squeezed Charlie's hand as she took his, kissing the top of her head. "I won't, but between Luna, Cupid, Chastity, and all the other angels in the room, I think we're covered if you do." There were a lot of people here in general, angelic, demonic, or otherwise. It was amazing just how many people the couple knew. He knew they were immortal and had been alive since the beginning of time, but it was still surprising that they were able to bring so many of those people here. He wondered how many of them had known about Belphegor's curse in secret. Were any of the witches here who'd helped try to solve the curse aside from Zatanna? Was Thorn's great grandmother here? And most importantly, how long would he have to ask all of these artists and writers his burning questions? Was it inappropriate to ask Edgar Allan Poe about the mystery surrounding his death to hear his own account? On a less important note, did he need to worry about Azazel's family killing him?
He didn't manage to bring up any of these questions to Charlie once the music began. Belphegor seemed so different now compared to how he'd first met them. While he knew some of that was because of the graces in them, they'd also just experienced a lot of growth overall. Pride alone didn't make them learn from their mistakes. That took real work, and for being a demon prince of sloth, they put in a lot of effort, but as was the case most of the time, that was generally for Cupid's sake. They loved her, and she loved them, which became even more evident once she walked through those doors and they laid eyes on each other. He smiled as they ran to each other and kissed. Zatanna's words were both amusing and sweet from what he knew about her experiences with the couple. They'd always been loving to each other, but as was often the case, the amount that Cupid and Belphegor were willing to go above and beyond for each other usually meant that they caused trouble he and Zatanna had to deal with. It was a nice way to put things.
VALEFAR: Valefar had always loved weddings. She was a big fan of people in love, and as someone who'd loved someone and got married to them, they knew it was a good experience, as long as you actually loved the person. Their right hand hadn't exactly taken their advice how they meant it when they said it'd be good for her to find someone to get married to. She hadn't realized at the time she needed to specify that Lette should fall in love with the person first. Her efforts to correct that had proved unsuccessful, but it didn't change how much Valefar loved the idea of weddings.
She'd been giddy through the preparations of all of this. The bachelor party had been fun. Picking the suit Belphegor was going to wear with Belgirel was a treat she never thought she'd get to have. She'd joked and laughed with all the attendants as they waited. One by one, each of them went down the aisle until it was just her and Kindness left. Valefar was a chatterbox until the doors opened for them. For a moment, she felt like she was back at her own wedding, walking down the aisle hand in hand with her older brother to marry her beloved Ramiel. Despite their limits during the war, he'd looked so handsome to her, and he'd looked at her as if she'd been wearing the most stunning dress in the world instead of what had been made with as little time and resources as were available at the time. They'd gotten married knowing that any day could've been their last on that battlefield, but she still hadn't expected him to be taken away from her so soon. And now, he couldn't be here in this moment because he was in the Empty being tortured along with her little brother and Lailah and so many others. She knew that this wedding was also supposed to be a step in saving those people, but she couldn't help the overwhelming feeling of guilt for not doing enough. Even knowing that she'd started that committee with Dagon and Gabriel didn't assuage her feelings of guilt and remorse.
She tried not to cry. This wasn't about her. She didn't want to make a scene, but she couldn't stop the tears from spilling out. Thankfully, Kindness had the strength to pull them both forward down the aisle. "Don't worry," she whispered to Valefar. "You won't be the only one crying today." It didn't make her feel any less sad about Ramiel, but at least she didn't have to feel singled out for her tears. "My siblings started a betting pool about who's going to get teary eyed." The princes often had similar betting pools, so she couldn't blame Kindness's siblings for keeping themselves entertained. "I won twenty dollars from you, so thank you," Kindness said with a smile as she walked to the bride's side.
Valefar was so caught off guard, she nearly choked. It took her another second to catch her bearings to go to Belphegor's side with their attendants. At least she wasn't crying now.
That was until Belphegor made their way down the aisle in the suit that Belgirel had picked with them. It had a few changes, but it was perfect. She was crying again, but now it was out of pride. And she wasn't the only one. She saw Lucifer dabbing at his eyes with a handkerchief along with a transfer of money amongst the virtues soon after. Humility won that one. When Cupid stepped in, Valefar noted that there was no transfer of money. They were either all too amazed by how pretty she was, Cupid was too easy of a target for the bet, or they didn't do friendly fire. It wasn't Valefar's place to judge. She was busier watching the bride speeding up as if she might miss the train to her own wedding. It made her miss Ramiel more again as she and the audience watched them kiss, and she was crying again. She hoped this went through quickly.
CUPID: As soon as she was in Belphegor’s arms, all her worries melted away. She nuzzled their hand as they brushed it against her face. “You do too,” she whispered. She hoped she’d be able to remember her vows, but it was hard not to get distracted by how good they looked. As she and Belphegor made their way into the sigils, she could feel the love radiating around the room. It was a dazzle of colors and a cacophony of warm feelings. She couldn’t recall the last time it was this strong or that she’d felt this powerful. Everyone convened here today was there to celebrate the love that she and Belphegor shared and that was all she could ever ask for.
Cupid handed her extravagant bouquet to Chastity before turning to Belphegor and taking their hand in hers just as Zatanna had instructed. Chastity covertly snuck behind her to adjust the train on her gown before taking her spot back amongst her siblings. Cupid’s thumb gently caressed the top of Belphegor’s hand as Zatanna addressed the crowd. Cupid wasn’t particularly articulate and public speeches always made her a little nervous, but as long as she pretended she was just talking to Belphegor, she would be okay. She took a deep breath and nodded when Zatanna gave the floor to her.
“As a love entity I’m never short on words about love,” she grinned, and the crowd laughed along with her. But her eyes never left Belphegor’s. “I could talk for days about the things I love about you, and it still wouldn’t be enough time. I knew there was something special about you the very first night that we met. It felt like the first time that someone had seen me for something other what I was created to be. You made me feel like I mattered in a different way and to this day that feeling stuck around. You are the love of my life. And do you want to know how I know?”
She moved her palm ever so slightly and connected a sigil that had been carved on the palm of her hand by Belgirel's Archangel Blade to a matching sigil on carved on Belphegor’s palm. It was the first part of the binding ritual: a power share. It opened her to them and allowed them access to her power. The sigil around them grew a little brighter and Cupid felt more of a pull toward them.
“I know this because when I’m sad or scared, you’re the first person that I want to run to. I know this because whenever anything remotely good or bad happens, I want to share it with you. You are the place that I call home. You’re my shelter and my safe space. You’re my best friend. We’ve weathered many storms and…” she paused and glanced in the direction of Michael. “We’ve caused some too.” There was a murmur of laughter in the crowd. Cupid grinned, pulling her eyes away from Michael as she focused back on Bells. This was easier than she thought it would be but expressing her love for Bells always came easy to her. “And in all our grand adventures there is no one else in the world that I’d want by my side as my partner in crime, my co-conspirator, my shipmate, my confidant, and my spouse.”
“So,” she was tearing up with emotion now. “Today, I stand here before you, completely in love with you as I’ve always been, and ready to make the promise of a lifetime.”
This was Zatanna’s sign to come forward. With Cupid and Belphegor’s hands still interlaced, Zatanna tied a piece of red ribbon to Cupid’s wrist. The magic around them intensified and a small woosh of air flickered through, ruffling the clothes of those in the wedding party. Dagon herself felt electrified and grabbed Aamon’s arm for support. Lucifer passed her a clean handkerchief. He’d come prepared with extras, and she would need them now. It was time for the spell which they’d turned into a vow.
Zatanna nodded to Cupid once the ribbon was securely attached to her wrist like a delicate bow. Cupid took a deep breath and looked lovingly into Belphegor’s eyes as she recited the spell.
"I, Cupid Valentine, Admiral of the First Battalion of Heaven and Honored Ambassador for Love, commit myself to you, Belphegor, Prince of the Sixth Kingdom of Hell, as your wife to learn and grow with, to explore and adventure with, to respect you in everything as an equal partner, in the foreknowledge of joy and pain, strength and weariness, direction and doubt, for all the risings and settings of the sun.” Zatanna snaked the ribbon all the way to Belphegor’s wrist. “I, vow to open myself mind, spirit, and soul to you on this journey we’ve chosen to take.” And with those words, Zatanna tied off the red ribbon to Belphegor’s wrists, causing another surge of energy to ripple, this time much further into the crowd than before. Cupid felt herself get lighter and a little dizzier, but she still felt euphoric and ethereal. Nothing could take away from this moment.
BELPHEGOR: They should've been listening to what Zatanna was saying. It was probably significant and might've included pointers for what they were supposed to say and do here, but they were in their own little world with Cupid. They almost always were, but especially today. With her in front of them, it was like everything else melted away. The laughter of the crowd was distant and just felt like an extension of both of their feelings as Cupid spoke. It just felt like something they'd normally talk about anyways. The truth of the matter was that they'd been saying their vows their whole lives. This just felt like putting it in writing.
As the sigils on their hands connected, Belphegor felt an overwhelming surge of energy. Zatanna had explained this to them before. A lot of it wasn't definite in exactly what would happen, but they knew it involved a power share. Belphegor thought that with their experience with Asmo's grace, it wouldn't be all that different. They were both love entities after all. Asmo was just specific to the lust part of love, but this was intense. Everything was so colorful. Belphegor usually felt like life was so dark and dismal, but it was like someone had just turned a black and white television to high definition color, and that was just how it looked. The feeling of it was just as grand if not more so. Despite not dealing with these powers, they knew immediately what that feeling was. Love. It was all around them. In their family, in the crowd, and most of all in Cupid. So this was what she always saw. "It's beautiful," they whispered, turning their attention back to her. She was the greatest source of color and feeling in this room. They never really doubted that Cupid loved them, but the proof in front of them made them feel even more secure in where they were.
"I'd like to say that I saw all of those things too when we first met, but I was pretty oblivious to a lot of things like that back then, for most of my life really. And in my defense, I think part of why I struggled with all of that is because it just came so naturally. Cupid, when you stepped into my life, you just fell into place like you were always supposed to be there. Because you are supposed to be here. Because I want you to be here. There's nothing that ever forced this for me. Not God, not the Void, not these trials, and not every attempt everyone ever made to try to get me to understand that I've always loved you. It was never anyone else's decision to make but mine and yours, and I'm grateful for the fact that I continued to be your choice no matter how hard I made that for you." They didn't think they would've been considered an easy person to love. The waiting time alone would've been something that made most people quit, but Cupid always stayed with them. Their confusion on love put Cupid in many uncomfortable situations too. They'd talked about those things at least, and they worked on what issues they had through therapy, but Belphegor couldn't appreciate more the fact that she still was willing to love them through all that.
"Although I didn't always understand that what I felt for you was love, I've always chosen you to be the person I held in the highest regard. I've struggled- with a lot. I've thought countless times of just leaving everything behind because it'd be easier, but the hardest thing- the most impossible thing is the idea of leaving you. It's easy to say that I would do anything for you or that I'd die for you. Dying itself was never a hard concept for me. I thought for most of my life that it would just be like going to sleep, and in my dreams, the good ones anyways, you're always there." They'd learned from experience that death wouldn't be like that. It wasn't so pleasant as they always thought, but even so, that wasn't what made dying hard for them. These days, they were scared to die, and trying to figure out how to say all that was making it harder to hold in their emotions. They'd been worried that it might ruin this ceremony, but it was impossible not to cry a little in one of the most emotional moments of their life.
"But I don't want to die for you. I don't want there to be a world where you and I aren't together. I know Kokabiel says there are universes for everything, but the ones where you and I aren't together got it wrong. I barely like spending a day without you. It wouldn't be right for a death to take us apart, so I'm not going to pledge to ever die for you, but I will pledge to live for you and exist with you in whatever plane of existence we're in as long as we're in it together until the end of time and space and even beyond then. I know that all of this is scary and uncertain, but I'm certain that I love you, and nothing can change that. I'll fight with everything I have and that has been shared with me to make sure that I always come back to you. Because I love you. This whole wedding is just a formality anyways, because deep down as far as anyone has been concerned, we've been married for centuries, but like I've told you before, I'm always willing to make these promises to love you and be anything you need as many times as you want to hear it."
Zatanna brought forth a second pastel blue ribbon, tying it around Belphegor's wrist. There was another surge of energy as Belphegor recited their part of the spell, but they felt confident in what they were saying. They didn't have a last name in the same way as Cupid did, but they considered last names just an account of what family you belonged to, and Belphegor deemed themself to belong to many, all of whom were here. "I, Belphegor Valentine Morningstar Spiritus Sinclair Winchester Smith Cladoselache Demiurgos Zatara Virtus, Prince of the Sixth Kingdom of Hell, commit myself to you, Cupid, Admiral of the First Battalion of Heaven and Honored Ambassador for Love, as your spouse to learn and grow with, to explore and adventure with, to respect you in everything as an equal partner, in the foreknowledge of joy and pain, strength and weariness, direction and doubt, for all the risings and settings of the sun.” Zatanna repeated the same process, snaking Belphegor's ribbon to Cupid's wrists. “I, vow to open myself mind, spirit, and soul to you on this journey we’ve chosen to take.” Zatanna finished tying off the blue ribbon. An even larger surge blew through the crowd, rattling the doors despite their weight. Wedding itineraries and loose petals whipped around the room and showered down on them as the ribbons began to move of their own accord, swirling around each other on their arms rapidly until they just looked purple. It hurt and felt like rope burn, but the pain didn't feel altogether important in the grand scheme of things. It looked like they might've been dissolving, but Belphegor could feel it just going deeper into their skin, making them become one unit, one couple together. Once it looked like it was gone, Belphegor turned to look at Zatanna. "So I can kiss her again now, right?"
CUPID, DAGON, ZATANNA: She watched Bells face as the power share began. There was something so beautiful about the fact that they were able to see the world as she saw it. In Cupid's darkest days, she often turned to the comforting colors of her powers and Belphegor's aura in particular. She hoped that her aura would bring them as much comfort.
Her eyes sparkled as they began their vows. She felt her whole body tingling with energy and excitement as they expressed their love. If there was one thing that Cupid loved, it was hearing the reassuring words that they loved her back just as much as she loved them. They were the piece of her puzzle that always fit. She never felt as strongly about anyone as she did them and she was pretty sure she'd never feel this way about anyone other than them.
Her lower lip wobbled and tears freely fell down her cheek when they described how their views on life and death had changed and how much they wanted to live and exist with her. Cupid had always been afraid that one day her existence wouldn't be enough to keep them going, but she was glad that each day they woke up, they chose to live it with her. Each day, they chose life when death felt easier. "I love you," she whispered through the tears as they finished their vow.
Behind Bells, Dagon and Lucifer and most of the family were dabbing away tears from their own eyes. It was hard to tell who was moved more. Dagon had the advantage given that she could feel the sincerity of both of her friend's emotions. She'd always known how strongly they felt for each other. They were each other's lifeline. She had to believe that lifeline would carry them through to the end. It was too cruel to think that it would end any other way.
Before Zatanna came in with Belphegor's ribbon, Dagon stepped out of the line of decorated Archangels and dabbed away some of Belphegor's tears with a clean handkerchief. Chasity came forward and did the same for Cupid that way the two of them could see each other more clearly. The two stepped back and Zatanna stepped forward with Belphegor's ribbon.
There was another sprout of endearing giggles and smiles as Belphegor voiced their name, taking care to include everyone they cared for and making them a part of this service. Gasps filled the crowd at the surge of energy as the ribbon was tied off. Being so close to it knocked the wind out of Zatanna for a moment and she had to grab the podium to steady herself. Cupid gasped in pain as the ribbon coiled around her arms and then began to disappear beneath her skin. A moment later, it was gone leaving behind only a burn mark.
The massive venue was silent for a moment as everyone tried to process what happened. Belphegor's question broke through the silence and made Cupid smile.
"You may now--"
She didn't wait for Zatanna to finish the sentence before she jumped into her spouses arms and kissed them. The room, which had previously been deafening silence, broke out into applause as Mr. and Mrs. Valentine shared their first kiss as newlyweds.
BELPHEGOR: They could tell how much their words were actually affecting Cupid, not just because of their ability to see her aura now but also because she was just so expressive. The smile on her lips could write symphonies, and her eyes could paint masterpieces. They hoped she knew that these words were just a fraction of how they felt about her. There wasn't enough time in the world to explain all the things she made them feel and all the reasons why it was simply meant to be that she become their wife. She was already a part of them and their world. This wedding just cemented that. "I love you too," they whispered back to her.
They were grateful for Dagon coming in to dab at their eyes. They really needed to see all of this to keep in their memories for the hard times ahead of them. Cupid would probably need it as well. "Thank you," they whispered as Dagon and Chastity stepped back.
As the ribbon tightened around their arms, Belphegor grimaced, squeezing Cupid's hand as they shared in the pain, but at least they were in it together. It didn't really seem like much had changed, but they knew they felt closer to Cupid, more connected, even though the ribbon had disappeared. They waited patiently for Zatanna to say the true magic words, but Cupid didn't. They managed to catch her in their arms as she leapt at them. Their lips found each other automatically, though letting go wouldn't be as easy. Belphegor found that kissing her was all they wanted to do, maybe for the whole day if they could. Their hands played through her hair as they held her close to them, their other hand gently massaging her neck. The entire world couldn't separate them during this moment.
CUPID: Her happiness and elation masked any pain that the ribbon could've created. There was nothing that could ruin tis magical moment for her. She'd been dreaming about it since they were kids in Heaven. So many had scoffed at what they deemed to be silly fantasies. Others told her she should give up while some tried to help her get to the finish line. And, now, she was here in Belphegor's arms saying I do.
Their kiss sent a final ripple of magic through the air, but it wasn't from the trial. It was from Cupid. The angel of love felt more fulfilled and powerful now than she had in her entire life and the room felt it as it intensified the different kinds of love that everyone shared for one another. The crowd caught their breaths and clapped as pride and love filled the room. Lucifer freely wiped a tear from his face and Dagon found herself balancing one hand on Aamon to keep herself steady in the face of all of the emotions that she was picking up. It had been such a long time since she'd felt this level of happiness. After the war, she thought she'd never feel anything this deep ever again, but here it was. Their love for each other was undeniable and strong.
When Cupid pulled away from Bells, she felt a champagne sort of dizziness that made her giddy. She giggled again and kissed them briefly for a second time before turning, arm in arm with Bells to look at the crowd of friends gathered here today.
"I'm delighted to present to the world: Mr. and Mrs. Valentine," Zatanna announced. The room erupted into cheers as everyone stood up and applauded the happy couple. The exit march began t play which was a cue for the guests to turn their attention to the asile. Some threw flower petals into the air and while others blew a cacophony of bubbles as Cupid and Bells glided gracefully back up the aisle. The wedding was over, but the night was young and there was much to celebrate.

fallen angels names
We've already mentioned that the fallen angels are the angels who God cast out of heaven. However, why did that happen? That's what we'll learn before we get down to discussing the names of male and female fallen angels.
The information in this article is from all kinds of sources from across many religions and stories as many cultures share the idea of angels.
While there are numerous debates regarding the origin of fallen angels, most theologians agree that they were angels who were once a part of heaven, watched by the seven holy angels; Gabriel, Lucifer, Michael (the most powerful angel), Raguel, Raphael, Saraquel, and Uriel. However, when Satan, one of the angels in heaven, started to oppose God by wanting to indulge in the pleasures available on Earth, several angels sided with him.
Satan and his followers committed a number of sins that God found unpardonable and as a result, he cast them down to Earth from heaven, where they continued to indulge sinful acts and behaviors. The fallen angels created numerous offsprings on Earth, who were demons and many of them are considered fallen angels as well. According to some religious texts or popular modern fictional stories fallen angels and demons command numerous legions of demons who are in constant opposition to God and intent on spreading evil. Their appearances are extremely horrifying as well, with several fallen angels and demons having appearances that combine the looks of man with other creatures such as lion, dog, and horse.
Fallen angels are known for tempting human beings in several ways. Those who heed the words of fallen angels are much more likely of going astray in life and indulging in activities that are harmful not just to the self but also to others. 36th Book I Read in 2024
Title: Attraktionens Kraft
Author: Gabrielle Bernstein
