things I would love to read: EMT!Ian and ER nurse!Mickey who meet at the hospital when Ian is on a call bringing a patient to the hospital—maybe they get along at first, maybe they don't, but after they run into each other a few times Ian starts looking forward to when they end up at Mickey's hospital (no he's not been obsessively trying to figure out Mickey's shift rotation, why do you ask)

and one day he and his partner have dropped off a patient and it's lunch and they're starving, so they decide to eat at the hospital since they're already there, and Ian sees Mickey at a table outside, and there's nowhere else to sit because the weather is nice and the employees are taking advantage of the sunshine

so Ian is all "mind if I sit here?" and Mickey is like "I ain't stoppin' ya, red" and it's awkward at first but then they somehow manage to break the ice—this may lead to Mickey showing Ian where on the smoke-free hospital campus is a sneaky place for them to light up and share a cigarette 😉

anyway the boys end up bonding and chatting and Ian finds an excuse to get Mickey's number and it'd just be cute as hell <3

hey there 💓 welcome to the fandom! this is a brilliant, silly, LOVING place, and i am so glad you're here! i'm sorry you're feeling a bit unsure, ty for coming to chat with me 🫂✨

first, i'll say that NO, i don't think there's a cap on creators here. what i love about this fandom is that it's constantly growing and evolving - almost like it's breathing? there are new people who have just binged the show, fans who are reconnecting, and goobers like me who will never let go 😇 no matter what, we are here to gobble up words and art and thoughts and FRIENDSHIP!

honestly, i think the trick for me was connecting. i joined shameless tumblr in 2019 and screamed into the absolute VOID before i started interacting with others. once i started reaching out and talking with others, it was easier for me to share my writing or find the encouragement to start making gifs. there is a BIG focus on community here, and i find that people are so eager and generous with their energy. we WANT to cheer you on and champion your work! we WANT to beta and read and give advice/tips/love.

so i would say not to be shy (easier said than done, i know!), and to share your beautiful self! a lot of users have tracked tags, which is a good way to share and connect. i track #gardenermel (sometimes i am bad at looking, but i'll always get there!), and i'd love to see what you've been up to. and there are many others who love to see creations this way! if you feel comfortable, you can reach out via asks and strike up conversations! all of my friendships here started this way.

there are plenty of ways to get started! fandom events are especially useful for trying things out. depending on what you'd like to create, you could check out @galladrabbles @gallacrafts @gallavichmeta @shamelesscreatorsnetwork @gallavichprompts... there's a yearly @spicygallavichcollab and all kinds of events hosted by @gallavichthings. honestly, the list goes on! these are excellent resources for sharing creations, and a great way to meet members of the fandom.

there's also a host of discord groups associated with some of these initiatives! check out the blogs for links. plus, the big ol' gallabitches server (18+). you'll find a lot of us there, and it's a lovely space to chat about your creations (and everything else!).

as for fic classics, i think that depends on who you ask! there are certainly some fandom staples, but what's great about this space is the WIDE range of interests and ideas. people have put these guys in every single situation, and we continue to be fucking psyched about it. as long as ian, mickey, and the whole damn gang feel true to themselves, i am (generally) fucking here for it. i don't post regularly AT ALL, but i still find that people are so lovely when i do. there's no race to be won here, fandom is about ENJOYING yourself. so i say: please keep trying! drop me a link! i don't catch everything and i WANT to see what yall are doing!

i hope this helps, even in some small way. i know coming into a new fandom can seem daunting, but we're all here for the love of it, and it's so fantastic to keep sharing it! 🍅

Mickey was not having a good day.

Ian could tell. He always got like this when Yev had to go back to his Mom's place. He knew shared custody was the best arrangement for their fucked up little family unit, but it didn't make it hurt any less when Svet came to take his Yevy away.

'Yevsmas' was Ian's idea. Since Svet got Yev for Gregorian Christmas, New Year's, and Orthodox Christmas, they made their week with Yevgeny all about him. Presents every day, banana pancakes with chocolate chips for breakfast, his favorite snacks, movie marathons with Papa and Daddy Ian. It wasn't long before Mickey was in the driver's seat though. No one looked forward to 'Yevsmas' more than Mickey.

And nobody was more upset than Mickey when it was over.

Ian was waiting for his husband in bed, doing his best to enjoy the book Mickey had gotten him. The deductive brilliance of Hercules Poirot just couldn't keep his attention as Mickey's pre-bed shower stretched on.

He worried at his lip, eyes flitting from the page to the bathroom door- was that? No, just a shampoo bottle falling and a faint swear.

Eventually, Ian heard the spray stop and he took the time he knew Mickey would need to dry off and put on pajamas to look as natural as possible, and not like he'd had his eyes glued to the bathroom for the last hour and a half.

The bathroom door opened with a practical hiss as steam flooded into their bedroom (Mickey liked it cold). Backlit by the lights, Mickey, eyes still just a little puffy and red, padded over to toss his good clothes in the hamper.

Ian watched rapt. Mickey's hair looked tousled and a little damp, but he looked so fucking pretty, rosy and soft and warm. Equal parts teddy bear and porcelain doll.

He was wearing Ian's clothes. He could tell at a glance just based on the fit; long sleeves of the henley bunched up to his elbows, and caressing every buttery soft curve of his body. The softest, creamiest part of Mickey's belly, his precious dimpled overhang was just barely peeking out under the hem of his borrowed shirt.

If Ian wasn't already vibrating with desire from that salacious view, he certainly was seeing Mickey bend over in his boxers. Jesus fuck were they snug. The red, buffalo plaid fabric hugged each plump, juicy cheek of Mickey's peach like it was manufactured for that sole purpose. It was like a pair of giftwrapped honey baked hams. And God, Mickey's thighs... Ian was salivating.

"Nice outfit," Ian said, voice low. His hands found their home on Mickey's hips, digging into his softness and tugging the sturdy man back firmly against him. Ian didn't say anything. He just pulled Mickey back to the bed and sat down. Somehow, Mickey thought, Ian found a way to look tall and imperious even when he was sitting. Again he tugged Mickey impossibly closer, strong, freckled arms wrapping around him at the small of his back.

Ian leaned in, dragging his cheeks across-trying to bury his face in the soft worn cotton of his borrowed shirt and the warm, wobbling softness of Mickey's tits and belly. He nipped and teased at Mickey's body through the fabric, coaxing delicious whiny moans out of Mickey. "shit...fuck, Red! Don't stop..." he panted.

Ian didn't stop. He slowly shucked Mickey out of his clothes. He paid special, lazy, languid attention to Mickey's fat, little cock. Mickey slung his arms over Ian's shoulders, trying to keep his footing, going along with the attention.

"Yeah," came the soft response, with a poorly hidden sniffle. "Yeah, thanks, Red."

I feel this would be this best to motion this....I always thought that those closest to Gallavich, knew they had a thing (beside the Gallaghers) Like Kev and V knew, Mickey's bros knew, Shelia knew, everyone knew, but no one said anything about it, because they if they did they would have 2 dead young people. And in a place that needed hope and love, this neighborhood did. As much as I want to write a fic, I am not that good at creative writing (research papers I habe down pat) ...so a prompt like everyone knew at like their 1 year party.

Ian's been Mickey's and Mandy's roommate for three months now. Mandy absolutely adores him, and they've become fast friends. She really doesn't get what Mickey's problem with Ian is, though. Ian's so charming, funny and gorgeous--Mandy would think anyone would instantly fall in love with him. Yet Mickey's constantly ranting to her when they're alone, complaining about ridiculous things like the way Ian eats toast, the bad puns he's always making, and the fact he looks like a ‘freckly alien motherfucker’. Mandy cannot see where Mickey is coming from at all, and usually tells him to get the fuck over it and to be nice to Ian. One day, in the middle of one of his rants, when he's so worked up he's basically forgotten Mandy is even there, Mickey reveals, "Plus, the fucker barely even speaks to me, since that time we ended up bangin' when we were high. I mean, who the fuck does that, right?!" His eyes widen as he turns to Mandy and realizes what he's just said. Meanwhile Mandy feels like her whole reality just flipped on itself. What the fuck? Holy shit. She wastes no time asking for details, and after some initial reluctance, and more than a few beers, Mickey tells her everything, even going so far as to blurt out how hurt he feels that Ian is so distant and cold to him now and has made no move to even talk about what happened. So the next night, while Mickey's out, Mandy decides to take matters into her own hands. This time she manages to get Ian tipsy enough to reveal to her that he thinks Mickey doesn't want anything more from him after their one night stand, and that he's too intimidated by Mickey to make the first move anyway, especially since he's started complaining about seemingly anything Ian does around the house. Mandy thus resolves to help these two idiots work things out. What else can she do? And these fuckers had better ask her to be best man/maid of honor when they eventually get married, or else there'll be hell to pay.

I have kind of a weird idea for an au based off an experience I had and I can't stop thinking about it. I recently had to have an echocardiogram (an ultrasound of the heart) done and it's a strangely intimate experience. It takes about 30 minutes and I had to lay on my left side facing the wall the whole time and the technician is behind me with his arm over me with ultrasound thing on my chest. And I guess because it takes so long he can't just hold his arm up forever so he had it resting on my side. And he was so close to me it kind of felt like a hug. And it's quiet except for the sound of my heart on the machine.

Either Ian or Mickey could be the tech and it would be good. Say they met briefly at a bar or something or had some kind of moment where they were attracted to each other or even had a one night stand. And then the one shows up to his appointment, let's just say it's Mickey because being the tech might make more sense for Ian, and he's waiting in his hospital gown in the room and Ian walks in. It's weird and awkward and Ian asks if he want to reschedule and have it with someone else but they end up just doing it and I don't know where to go from there but yeah. And it doesn't have to be some serious heart problem, it turns out I just have some harmless irregular heartbeat called PVC that comes and goes so it could just be something like that.

Sorry this was long I just wanted to tell someone because I like this idea so much. I'm not a writer so if anyone out there who wants to write it go for it!

Spring is here! (well, in the Northern Hemisphere it is) The boys are ready for some spring cleaning. Are you?

Welcome to the first ever Gallavich Spring Cleaning!

What is that, you ask? Easy! It’s a multiwork event hosted by @gallavichfanficlibrary and yours truly (with some help of @gallavichprompts​, thank you!) . That means any kind of work is accepted: fics, fanart, videos, gifs, you name it! Oh, and did I mention there are no requirements either? Drabbles and one-shots are more than welcome (my burn-out brain actually thanks you). 

The only rule for this event is: it’s got to be PG-13 - in other words, clean. (Get it? Cause of spring cleaning? *wink wink* I’m very smart). That means no mature teams, no smut, no M18, no ~lemon~. Of course swearing is allowed (I mean, it’s still Ian and Mickey we are talking about), just keep it sfw. Think of it as a reverse kinktober, if you will.

Prompts are under the Read More. You can use only one, several or all of them. Mix and match, if you want to! Repeat them, even!  They’re just your starting points!

Situation prompts:

Spring cleaning.

It's the first sunny day in what feels like forever, after several weeks of bad weather and storms that have kept them spending most of the time in their apartment. 

Spring: sniffles, pollen, and tissues.

The Big Easter Egg Hunt.

The only thing Mickey knows about his soulmate is that he’s supposed to meet him in the spring.

Teenagers Ian and Mickey somehow end up spending St.Patrick’s Day together, and it’s not a date but it also kinda sorta feels like it might be? 

Spring on the Westside feels different than on the Southside.

Ian and Mickey are slowly turning their apartment into a ‘home’, bringing small touches of themselves into it.

Mickey’s always been a light sleeper who has suffered from nightmares. It’s only when they finally get their apartment sorted that he starts to sleep well and really understand what a good night's sleep can be.

The lease on the apartment is almost up. (Do they stay in the apartment? Move out? Go apartment hunting? Hire a realtor?)

One day Ian comes across an injured cat and nurses it back to health. After a few days he finds a stranger on his couch and the cat is nowhere to see. (Shapeshifting AU)

The last thing Ian expects to see in the mysterious box that Mickey brings to the dugouts is kittens. And he definitely didn’t expect that they would end up caring for them together.

Gallavich ‘Meta’ March

A Gallavich-themed trope challenge for March (or whenever you’d like to take part!) If you are new to writing or a writer who’s trying to get back into the swing of things - why not try writing some meta? (And you don’t have to be a writer, this is really a challenge that’s open to everyone!)

So, what does “meta” mean?

Fanlore: 

In fandom, meta (also meta essay) is used to describe a fan-authored piece of non-fiction writing discussing any aspect of fandom, fanworks, or the source text. This can include discussing characters and their motivations, fanfiction tropes and trends, fan activity, particular plot elements, choices by canon creators, alternate possibilities for canon and much more.

Meta [is] a blanket term to include things like headcanon, ship manifestos, theories, and character analysis.

Fandom talking about itself or its interests in a thoughtful way is the best description we can come up with. When it comes to intention, pretty much anything that isn't fictional or conversation would count. Meta can be very long (even a series!) or it could be just a few paragraphs. 

Meta is thoughtful, respectful discourse and analysis about characters and storylines. It is a thought, or a series of arguments with examples of the character’s actions that helped you draw a specific conclusion OR an analysis of the situation that you’ve focused on. Anything with detail, evidence, and explanation is a meta discussion.

What’s the challenge?

With 11 seasons and over 14000 fics on ao3, there’s a lot to discuss when it comes to Ian and Mickey and their relationship. So, whether it’s a topic or idea that’s been discussed many times before or something that hasn’t been analysed quite as much - try writing some meta!

It’s a casual challenge meant to encourage people to get writing more or try writing a different format. There’s no set time to submit fics, or a limit to how short (a paragraph) or long (an essay) the work can be. You can share your work anytime in or after March - tag it with #gallavichmetamarch and @gallavichprompts.

And don’t forget meta can be very casually written. There’s a lot of amazing meta that people put in the tags of posts that they may not realise is meta or may not feel confident sharing, but just know that you can and people would love to read it. You could even just share questions or ideas you think other people might like to explore.

I had this deep, insatiable thirst that fic couldn’t touch and the only thing that satisfied was reading meta. I just wanted to know what people THOUGHT. Really great meta reveals something you didn’t notice or think of. It brings a different perspective to the whole thing. It points out patterns, observes new details, or breaks down fandom ideas that maybe don’t have the deep roots you think they do. I love to write meta about Mickey and Ian because I love these characters down to their atoms. I am interested in the most granular details. So much of this story is in the subtext and meta is where you find people discussing that. One of my favourite things about this fandom is how deep people here go.” (meta)

@whaticameherefor - “I love reading and writing meta because there is so much to explore within these characters and storylines that simply wasn't addressed or presented as best as it could have been in the show. Especially with characters like Ian and Mickey who either hold things so close to the chest or need to present a false front -- it's really fun to get into their heads, figure out why they may have done something or what their thoughts were during a certain moment. Meta can help bring a better understanding of two people often misunderstood. I also really love the sharing of opinions and ideas. The sort of validation you feel when you see someone think the same way as you, or the lightbulb moment when reading someone else's meta like, "Wow, I've never thought about that before!" 80. Protective/Defensive + 85. Holidays - 4th July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years

Franny has been asking her mom for weeks to take her to the mall to meet Santa, but Debbie is swamped with work and desperately needs the money at the moment. Uncle Ian and uncle Mickey offer to take Franny to the mall on their day off, and she's absolutely over the moon about it. When they're all in line to meet Santa--Franny excitedly jumping around a laughing Mickey while Ian checks his phone for a minute--Ian starts hearing someone whispering just behind them, catching a few words here and there. Words like one of those dirty Milkovich kids and fucking disgrace and that poor little girl. Ian turns to have a look at the guy and he vaguely recognizes his face from the old neighborhood. He sneaks a glance at Mickey, who unfortunately must have heard as much as Ian has, since he's currently gritting his teeth and barely containing his anger. Ian knows Mickey is only keeping it together so as not to upset Franny, but he can't just stand there and let this fucker talk shit about his husband like that. So, putting on a fake, sweet smile and trying to keep his voice level, he turns to the guy and says, "Hi, there. My husband and I can hear you, you know. We're trying to have a nice day out with our niece--you think maybe you could shut the fuck up about things you know nothing about and worry about your own child? Thanks a bunch." His saccharine smile turns into a sneer then. He doesn't wait to see the man's reaction before he turns back towards Mickey, smiling softly at him as he sneaks an arm around his waist, pulling him tight to himself. Mickey gapes at him, eyes widened. Ian looks down to see if Franny's alright, but she seems blissfully unaware of any unpleasantness and just grins, excited as ever to meet Santa. Ian looks back at Mickey, who is now sporting the fondest look on his face. "You didn't need to do that," he whispers. Ian just smiles, leans in to kiss his temple, and whispers back, "Yeah. I did."
