My Random Item Generator has been getting a number of views and even a downloads since I uploaded it to Itch.IO. Kind of surprised really, given that it was a little on the spot idea I had during a momentary bout of depression.
Do plan on updating it, just trying to figure out how to better refine the code so there are more options and that the options are a bit more suitable.
Still, that being said, part of me wants to leave it as is and just add more words to the existing scripts because there’s something funny about getting a Book of Bashing Frost or Backpack of Painful Death.
If anything, it’ll lead to a hearty laugh and maybe even some interesting ideas.(Has anyone ever done a cursed backpack before? I know there’s that one that looks like a Bag of Holding and just eats your items instead which is pretty damn funny)

Weekly Thoughts(Week 3 - Week 4)
First of all, I have never played Team Fortress 2. I understand why people loves moment to moment gameplays, the game itself is very fun and addictive, even the mechanics and the content of the game is easy to understand, player immediately knows what they are doing in the first scene. After watching the walkthrough of Super Mario 64, I think the game developeres are putting their best effort into making different stages of the game interesting. The background is simple, but just by clicking the jump button, Mario is able to do everything in his world. Mario is one of the first video games I played, when I was 13 years old. It was installed on a school pc, I couldn’t remember what version it was. I know I loved it when I was 13 and I still love it now. Another moment to moment game I can think of is Kirby, I had a Gameboy. I used to play this day and night.
The mechanic is also very simple, Kirby can “absorb” monsters and take their abilities. Also you will need to defeat bosses. But I think now I have lost some interest in these kind of games. I feel like getting bored easily playing with simple mechanics. But does Rouge Like have anything to do with M2M games? Their mechanics are also very simple, if you die you start over again, but you will have different abilities to start with.

So now we've got Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind.
I'm starting to wonder . . . is this the end of single player games?
Have game developerers decided there's more money to be made nickel-and-diming MMORPG players? And since they can't seem to make a proper single player MMORPG -- since that is stupid and defeats the purpose of a real MMORPG, which is to socialize while doing menial tasks -- are they just going to say "fuck it" and stop making single player games?
Seems like a lot of game developers are leaning in this direction, and I can't decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing.
On the one hand, game developers have proven themselves intent on streamlining thier more recent single player games -- something that SUCKS and is really frustrating. On the other hand, I swore myself to playing old games anyway because I'm tired of buying games that are a watered-down, unsatisfying mess.
If you look at some of my oldest posts on this blog, you can actually see me going on about how much I loved Fallout 4. This was before I realized how little content there was in the game, and that what content existed was either mindless fetch quests or side quests that were really fetch quests in disguise.
I won't pretend Bethesda's open world games were ever meant to have depth (that would be very expensive to do along side the world being so huge) but it was still very disappointing to slowly realize how little meaningful content there was in Fallout 4.
I mean, Skyrim was steamlined too, but it wasn't practically devoid of interesting side quests either. In fact, it was overflowing with them. The other day -- after playing Skyrim for five years -- I found the dungeon Ironbind Barrow for the first time. The story was very short but still interesting enough that I didn't regret doing it or else get immediately bored.
In fact, Ironbind Barrow actually made me sad, and I thought it was nice to find another named non-human character in the game (because the beast races are so underused in Skyrim). I did find it annoying, though, that they did that stupid, typical thing where they make a black person a slave owner "for the irony." You want black people to be racist so you can feel better about your racism. We GET it.
So yeah. I'm not pretending like Skyrim wasn't streamling as an arpg, but there were still many interesting little side quests that had actual stories and involved zero fetching.
Skyrim was 60% side quests and 40% fetch quests. I'm counting all the stories in the nine holds, as well as dungeon side quests.
Fallout 4 was 70% fetch quests and 10% side quests. The rest was all one big shooting gallery. And given how few actual side quests there were, this made it extra disappointing when the side quests themselves were crap. When I first played The Secret of Cabot House, I loved it. Now I just . . . despise that entire stupid quest. Maybe because I've come to the realization that it could have been ten times better. I dunno.
I'm not saying all the side quests in Fallout 4 sucked. I still love Diamond City Blues, as it's the only side quest in the game (the only one) that actually lets you roleplay with actual consequences to your actions. And the Silver Shroud quests are hilarious. But trying to think of another side quest I actually really liked past those two is . . . difficult. Because there aren't any.
The point is, most of my favorite game series have been watered down into tripe to the point that I just don't want to play anymore.
I'm also tired of the gross gaming community -- and, no, I'm not just talking about bigoted male gamers. I'm also talking about the hivemind bullies (we call them fandoms) who also exist. Fandoms are mean-spirited, racist, and zealous, with a mob-mentality that means they will gang up on anyone and everyone they perceive as an enemy (basically, anyone who disagrees with the hivemind).
So I'm asking myself: should I care that single player games are taking a backseat?
I kind of do care, because I know the online-gaming community is garbage, and I hate the idea of having to resort to playing a male character just to make male gamers leave me the fuck alone -- or, you know, at least show me an iota of respect as a human fucking being.
I think in the end I might just stick to my decision to play old games and ignore new titles. If I get a new rig this winter, I'm redownloading old Elder Scrolls, and old Fallout, and old Sims and I'm playing the shit out of all of it.
Because after enduring the madness of the gaming community, and after the massive disappoint every recent single player game was, game developers have given me zero reason to keep buying their games.
