Tired Of Bugs In Rice? Get Rid Of Food Grain Insects With Granol
Tumblr media
You might find this disgusting but you have probably ingested a bug, more than once in your lifetime. While most people aren’t even aware of this fact, there is a great chance that they have actually (accidentally of course) either ingested the larva, eggs, or a nasty little bug at some point when eating a rice-based diet regularly at home. The reason behind this? Rice is a staple across the length and breadth of India and when people are not consuming rice they are consuming another kind of grain in one form or the other. Bugs in grains are very common and, in many cases, unavoidable since modalities like transport, storage, and delivery need to be factored.
Weevils, pantry beetles, flour bugs, and ghuns (in Hindi) infestation can become a huge nuisance for everyone. They sneakily enter your pantry and destroy all your food storage, and thus need to be treated.
Here Is A List Of DIY Hacks Below To Help You Keep Bugs Out Of Your Grain Storage At Home And In The Warehouses Should You Be In The Business Of Storing, Distributing, And Retailing Grains As Well.
Freeze them out
It is advised to keep packets of spices and flour in the freezer for four days as soon as you have bought them. You can do this with flour, oats, cookies, cornmeal, and spices. This will kill all the larvae and eggs if present inside the packet and will stop further infestation. Take it out and store it in the normal place.
Bay or neem leaves
The Bay leaf is one of the best remedies to get rid of beetles. Bay or neem leaves can be put inside loose flour in containers that are more prone to contamination.
Cloves
This is a great idea if you are living alone and have faced this problem for the first time. Cloves are widely available and will fight off the bugs and will also avoid their infestation. You can also sprinkle some cloves around your cupboard shelves and pantry area.
Matchbox
Sounds weird but it is a great way to repel weevils as matchboxes contain sulfur and sulfur is not liked by weevils. Keep the matchbox open near the grains and weevils will not be seen thereabouts. You may also keep small bags of black pepper in your pantry.
Natural Sunlight
If a large quantity of flour has been attacked by beetles, just keep it in the sunlight. This will shoo them away as these bugs do not like the sunlight and will look for a dark and moist place. Keep the contaminated flour in the sunlight for a day and you get rid of weevils easily.
Other home remedies
You can either put ginger, garlic, or whole turmeric inside the rice container to keep rice bugs away.
While these home remedies will help you tackle the problem at large one surefire way to get rid of unwanted grain insects and pests is to turn to your pest control experts, Ultima Search. One of their products is a grain remedy called Granol which helps eliminate grain pests from storage areas inside homes and warehouses as well.
With over 9000+ dealers, 200+ employees, 3000+ serviced customers and counting, and an ISO9001 certification, Ultima Search is most definitely your ultimate pest control solution. Our national footprint takes us to the lengths and breadths of the country and makes us a household name every time we think of cleaning our homes. Our commercial pest control services and products are rigorously tested and certified by a host of Governing bodies like RRUL and GMP while we are also certified by PMA and IPCA.

"It’s called a pumpkin spice latte, Cody. Look it up" –Ahsoka
“I like looking at civilian furniture, but I don’t like sitting on it. You know?”
Cody nods solemnly. “Too comfortable.”
“Thank you,” Rex says emphatically. “Too comfortable!”
“Hey guys!” A tray slams down on the storage crate they’d been using as a makeshift table while on planet. The two clone officers look up in puzzlement at Commander Tano’s wide grin. “I made you some tea.”
She’s gone as quickly as she’s come. A Jedi trick, probably—the ability to flounce in an out of situations on a whim.
Phase II armor doesn't exactly allow for flouncing, unfortunately.
Cody peers down at the tray she’s left behind, and the two shallow bowls atop it. “That was… nice of her,” he says cautiously, glancing at Rex to make sure he's not offending. He reaches toward the bowl closest to his corner of the crate, but Rex’s arm on his stops him.
“I wouldn’t, if I were you.”
Cody looks between the steaming bowl in his hands and Rex. “Wh—”
“We didn’t bring any tea with us on this mission.”
“So? Maybe she—”
“And I know she didn’t buy any. None of us have money.” Rex leans forward and lowers his voice like he’s divulging some painfully shared secret. “Which means she made it.”
Cody rolls his eyes. That's kind of how tea comes into existence: someone makes it. His general made tea all the time, how bad could it be? “It’d be rude not to at least try it.”
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” Rex sighs, crossing his arms as he leans back.
Cody lifts the bowl up to his mouth, fully intending to take a sip with his smug look still in place. See? he’d say to Rex once he’d had a drink of Commander Tano’s thoughtful gift. That wasn’t so bad, hm? Maybe try meeting the Jedi halfway the next time they do something weird but kindly intentioned, hm?
Instead he gags out the mouthful of liquid he managed to get past his lips and immediately chokes as he tries to purge his taste buds of the worst thing he’s ever ingested.
“Is that garlic?” he splutters, his voice sounding weak and crazed to his own ears. “Tell me I’m not tasting garlic, Rex. Did she put whole cloves of garlic in this? Is she trying to poison me? And what—” Cody gags again and picks something off his tongue with his thumb and index finger. “This is just a leaf! A normal leaf from a tree, not even a tea leaf!”
Rex just sighs again and rolls his eyes. He offers no sympathy to his brother. “You told me to warn you on these joint missions when my Jedi would do something weird and I warned you but do you ever listen? Noooo.”
But Cody isn’t paying attention. He’s too busy dividing his attention between his burning throat—it was a lot of garlic—and staring into the bowl where he keeps seeing new mysteries floating in its depths. “What the…”
He sticks his finger beneath the surface and scrapes the bottom, where a dark sludge has formed beneath the thinner liquid floating on top. He scoops some of the sludge up and raises it to eye level. Tentatively, and absolutely knowing that he’s going to regret it, Cody flicks his tongue over the substance.
He starts hacking anew and this time he’s sure he’s going to die. This is the end. This is how the great Marshall Commander Cody goes out, not in glorious battle or brave sacrifice, but bested by the culinary skills of a Padawan.
“Sweet baby clones in tubes,” he finally wheezes when he stops seeing stars behind his eyelids, “there’s a solid inch of ground cinnamon at the bottom.”
Rex opens his mouth but Cody shakes his head violently before he can speak. He already knows what he’s going to say.

Small Garden Design Ideas on A Budget
You don’t have to allow a small budget or lack of ideas make your garden less appealing. With a few easy garden design ideas, you can transform it into a beautiful space, even when you’re on a budget.
gardeninginfo-online.com gathered the following ideas to help you design and plant your garden without spending a fortune on it.
Simple Garden Ideas
Before doing anything, set a limit on how much you are willing to spend and consider how you would like your garden to look.
The following are ideas that can save you money, and restore a sense of pride in your gardening capabilities:
Make Your Own Compost – This idea is more time consuming but offers a great payoff. Use your garden waste, kitchen scraps, animal droppings, and fallen leaves for a rich compost.
Your compost should be allowed to decompose until nothing is recognizable in the mixture.
Soil Enrichment and pH – The majority of plants, shrubs, and small trees respond best to well-drained soil, rich in nutrients, and mixed with organic material like a well-developed compost.
Test your soil to discover its pH (you can find inexpensive testers at local garden centers). A ph level below 7 is considered acid, and levels above 7 are alkaline.
Once you determine the different species of plants you intend on using in your garden, find a pH range that accommodates all of them and adjust the soil pH accordingly:
• Raise acidic soil pH levels by adding limestone or wood ash. • Lower alkaline soil pH levels by adding sulfur, aluminum sulfate, iron sulfate, organic mulch, or compost.
Some commercial fertilizers can be used to adjust your garden’s pH and can be found for reasonable prices.
Use Recycled Material – Thrift stores, garage sales, and online sites like Craigslist sometimes have used gardening equipment and paraphernalia at reduced prices or even free. Some of the items to watch for are:
• Used Bricks • Rocks • Small Statues • Fountains • Spades • Shovels
You can collect stones from a field or the beach to use in the edging or as decor of your garden.
Pallets and Boxes – Pallets can be cut and used upright, sideways, or buried flat as a way to guide the growth of your plants, and especially your climbing vines.
Old wooden boxes make a great “garden in a garden.” By planting succulents or other small plants in them and partially burying the box(es) around the garden, you create a multi-level garden with little effort.
Old Iron – A section of an old cast-iron fence or gate works well as a trellis for jasmine vines. Old iron tubs can be used to showcase tulips, roses, daffodils, and other flowering plants.
Purchase Smaller Plants – Save money by shopping for younger plants. A 4-inch pot instead of a 1 gallon pot will cost much less. If you have the patience to give your garden time to grow, this is a definite way to save money.
Remember to plan for plant growth. Knowing how large your plant is expected to be at maturity is vital to know, and dictates how far they should be spaced apart when planted.
Use Potted Plants – For the more sensitive plants, or to create a container garden, use pots. You can find inexpensive ceramic, terra-cotta, plastic pots, or any type of pot at yard sales, thrift stores, etc.
If you keep your temperature-sensitive plants in pots, they can be moved indoors when temperatures no longer support their healthy growth. This also saves you from the expense of replacing them next season.
Plant Vegetables – By planting vegetables in your garden, you get to reduce your food expenses every time you harvest. Some inexpensive and easy to grow crops include:
• Tomatoes • Potatoes • Radishes • Leeks • Onions • Green Onions • Garlic • Cucumbers • Peppers
Recycle Containers – Instead of buying a watering can, use an empty gallon container with a screw-top lid and a handle for better handling. Drill 5 or 6 small holes in the lid, fill the container with water, screw the lid back on, and turn it upside-down to water your plants. Change the number and size of the holes to regulate the flow of water.
A gallon jug with a handle cut in half below the handle makes an excellent scooper for compost, manure, and soil.
Old transparent storage bins make excellent greenhouses. Drill a few breathing holes in the bottom of the bin, turn it upside-down, and place it over the plants you want to protect from the cold.
Garden Design Ideas
In this article, you discovered ways to creatively design and plant your garden without spending a fortune on plants, accessories, or equipment.
By thinking creatively, you can find gardening solutions to create something beautiful and practical for your small garden space.
Without taking action, your garden will continue to disappoint you with little growth and even less appeal.

Storage Ideas for Kitchen
Kitchen occupies an important place in the house, as it is the kingdom of the lady of the house. Women of the house spend more than half of their time in the kitchen. A cluttered kitchen will surely make your everyday cooking activities extra tiring.
The kitchen is and always will be a baffled place to organize. Always there will be never-ending bathroom fittings and accessories, endless food cans, boxes and bags filling up every nook and corner of the kitchen, especially if it is not a big kitchen. So let us look into few kitchen hacks and ideas to help you, the ideas that are beautiful and functional.
The first big step is scan your container collection and weed out the unwanted and less used. This includes a deep clean of your refrigerator and cabinets or shelves in the kitchen.
The next step is to separate the storage containers and lids according to the sizes and shapes. You can stack all the empty and unused containers at one side in the drawer. Use a clip or a mesh or plastic basket to the side of the cupboard door to hold your container lids. You can also hang two of these on the inside of the door and store your sorted lids.
Use Pull out rack. This pull-out rack system helps in storing pots, pans, and lids with ease. As they’re adjustable, you can store items of different shapes or sizes in one convenient area. If your kitchen is small and has few cupboards, then the best option is to use any wall space available. Just measure the area, get a tailor made pegboard, add some hooks to the wall and hang them.
Another idea is to have a rotating storage organiser on the bottom of the shelf to hang your cutlery items. This way you will be able to save some space in the drawers to store the jars and bottles. By adding some simple hooks to your cupboard shelves, mugs can be hung instead of piled up inside the shelves.
Open Shelves on the kitchen walls are of great use. The stainless steel fittings or shelves can hold your decorative accessories or store daily dishes. At a later stage, you can either keep it open or close them using soft close hinges.
Fruit and Vegetable Hanging Storage baskets with Hooks — It saves space as it can be hanged on the wall. These baskets could be used to store all kinds fruits, onions, and potatoes. Hooks at the bottom of the baskets are perfect for mugs and towels or hanging garlic and peppers. Under sink drawer and Pull out trash can — You can place a deep cabinet under the sink using auto hinges. This drawer can be used for keeping the cleaning supplies visible. Use a pull out trash can to hide your trash bins and frees up the floor space. The side nook can be used for trash bags or air fresheners.
To conclude, taking advantage of empty verticals in the cabinets use risers to get more storage in each shelf. This will help keep items separated so that it is easy to pick them out when needed.

37 HACKS FOR REDUCING FOOD WASTE AND EATING SUSTAINABLY Learn how to eat sustainably with 30 tips for reducing your food waste and an in depth discussion about the exploitation in the supermarket industry If you’ve got a good tip - leave it in the comment section below, I’d love to learn from you too. STORAGE This section of the food waste hacks looks at how to correctly store food to prevent it going off quicker. Apparently 70% of people have been storing tomatoes wrong (including me), how mad is that? 9. STORING FRUIT AND VEG Don’t store fruit and veg next to each other in the fridge or pantry. Fruits produce ethylene gas which can make the vegetables ripen or sprout much faster, so make sure you separate them. Learning to store your fruit and vegetables correctly will prolong the life of the food in your fridge and pantry. 10. STORE CARROTS IN WATER Cut the tops of your carrots and submerge them in water (which needs to be changed every few days - water your plants with the extra water) and your carrots may last for two weeks in the fridge. This also works for celery… and asparagus can be dipped in water too. 11. STORE CHOPPED APPLES IN WATER Storing certain chopped or peeled foods in water makes them last another 24 hours. This one is particularly good if you have children or are weaning a baby and don’t need the whole apple at once. Peeled potatoes that you don’t need yet can also be stored in water to keep them fresh overnight. 12. GARLIC, ONION, TOMATOES AND CUCUMBER These 4 foods should be stored at room temperature - who knew? In the fridge, onions go soft, cucumbers go mushy and tomatoes deteriorate much faster. Garlic should be stored in an open container to promote air circulation and onion does best in a dark place. Garlic and onion can be kept together but onion should be away from potatoes.   Tomato also emits ethylene gas and should be kept away from cucumber and potatoes. Tomatoes can be kept in the fridge once they are ripe though, and cucumbers an hour before if you want them cold and fresh. 13. FREEZE FRESH HERBS Fresh herbs give extra flavour but they don’t last long. To avoid wasting them, put chopped fresh herbs into ice cube trays with olive oil and chuck in the freezer. When you go to cook just pop out a cube. 14. FREEZE FRUIT AND BREAD These vegan bread wraps are great for keeping bread fresh for longer, but if you know your family won’t get through all the fruit or bread you have in your home, freezing is a great way to avoid it going to waste. 15. EMPTY FOOD INTO CONTAINERS Glass jars have become a bit of a zero waste icon these days. Sure it looks pretty, but there is logic to it as well. When opening food that comes in plastic, transfer it to an airtight container. It doesn’t have to be made of glass, just use what you already have and start saving any pasta sauce jars you use.   16. EXCESS SPINACH AND LETTUCE If you know you won’t get through all the leafy greens in your fridge, there is an excellent hack to stop them going to waste. First of all blanch them (30s in boiling water, then straight into cold water) and dry them completely. Then you can either freeze as they are for your next meal, or blend them with some water (in which case drying doesn’t matter) and freeze in ice cube trays ready to add to smoothies or sauces. 17. PROLONG AVOCADO If you eat avocado, but don't need a whole one. Mash it up, add a teaspoon of lemon juice (to prevent in browning) and pop into ice cube trays. Defrost a cube the night before you fancy some avocado on toast.

Before jumping to the recipe please note that the below information contains HOT TIPS for this recipe. We try and answer all your questions to guarantee a perfect keto recipe every time.
This Keto Rib Rub is incredibly easy and tasty! Made with just 10 ingredients found in most keto pantries. Perfect for your next rack of keto bbq pork ribs, roast chicken, or smoked brisket.
The best part about making your own keto rib rub seasoning is that there is no hidden nasties. No fillers, no sugar and you know exactly what is in it. best part is it is incredibly easy to make, and you really are likely to have all these ingredients in your pantry right now!
The keto rib rub goes perfect on pork ribs, but also is amazing with my Chicken Avocado Salad, or even sprinkled on my Pizza Stuffed Mushrooms.
Homemade Keto Rib Rub Ingredients
To make your own rib seasoning at home is super simple. As I mentioned you should have most of these ingredients in your keto pantry right now.
I use both a brown and white sweetener for a play on flavours but also for two levels of caramelising the meat.
The spices I use basics like, paprika, cayenne, mustard, rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. I also like ground ginger and even sage but to limit the ingredients for you I have left them out. If you are out of one of the spices just add something else, you love.
How to Make Keto Rib Rub Seasoning
The keto bbq rub is super easy to make. Simple place all the ingredients into a bowl and stir to combine. Alternatively, just place all the ingredients into a jar and shake to combine.
No rocket science involved here. The rib rub is perfect dry rub for ribs. You can use it on pork ribs, lamb ribs or even use as a dry rub for beef short ribs. I smoke my ribs on a Kamado Joe but ribs are just as good slow baked in the oven or cooked in the Instant Pot (or similar).
