Hey guys, got my ass dragged into this Fandom by a close friend of mine but now I'm here.

Pleased to be here!! Let's share, draw and discuss about out favorite characters in this funny little Circus!!

I'll let you guys guess who my favorite Character is ...

Alright I have two distinct versions of the story of HLVRAI, some of these apply to both but most apply to my old ‘out of game’ AU, which has a more grounded tone:

Gordon: He’s pansexual, he did have a partner (Joshua is their biological son) but they ultimately decided they weren’t right for each other. It wasn’t a bad divorce or anything, but it still kinda stings Gordon to bring it up so he doesn’t talk about it much. Goes by he/they but considers himself cis. They’ve worked at Black Mesa for a couple of years now, not as passionate about physics as his HL counterpart but still rather invested in his work.

Tommy: They’re gender-fluid, going by they/she pronouns (they don’t mind being called ‘he’ but generally prefer the other two). Tommy was technically a “failed” attempt by the Employers to clone of one of the Overseers of our Worlds (not G’, again, they are separate Overseers in this version. We’ll call him Gary Coolatta for now, since that was what I called HLVRAI!G-Man when I was first into the series), existing mostly in three dimensions, lacking in a lot of their powers and struggling to control others, but the Employers still respect their right to exist as an entity and Overseers love them anyway, she mostly stays alongside her genetic parent but all of them are functionally family to her, the HLVRAI universe is her favorite place in the Multiverse because that’s where she met her first ever friend (and later brother!), Benrey! Their Overseer powers are most active when they’re affected by a stimulant such as caffeine, which is why soda makes them ‘see faster’ (how she describes perceiving time nonlinearly) They’re bisexual and aroflux!

Benrey: hasn’t yet grasped the concept of a ‘gender’, usually gets called he/him, doesn’t mind it. He’s a shapeshifting alien creature, he doesn’t know where in the Multiverse he’s actually from but he ended up on the HLVRAI universe’s version of Xen somehow and that’s where a younger Tommy found him. They’ve been friends ever since and eventually Gary adopted him as well, making them official siblings. Because Benrey was separated from his species at such a young age, he doesn’t know the full capacity of his powers, he’s a three-dimensional being but a pretty powerful one. Him and Tommy really bonded over not having anyone exactly like themselves around them, and Tommy hopes that her Overseer family will locate Benrey’s home universe someday. Was introduced to video games while hanging out on HLVRAI Earth and (*projects*) clings to gaming as a tool to connect with others because he doesn’t know how else to bond with people. Doesn’t really know what a ‘sexuality’ is either, but will flirt with people without realizing it because he struggles with the human concept of boundaries, feels kinda guilty about it and tries to get others to point out when he’s making them feel uncomfortable.

Tommy and G-Man continue to call Gordon Mr/Dr Freeman even though they both know that’s just the name of the Half Life player character and not the player himself.

Gordon rationalizes it from Tommy as like a nickname, since it’s what Tommy called him all through the game when they were getting to know each other. From G-Man, he feels like it’s some sort of weird mind game, like he’s calling him something he’s not just to keep Gordon aware of the circumstances.

He’s wrong though. Mr. Coolatta just uses it because his son does. He can’t help being a little spooky.

OK bear with me here. and skip to the next paragraph if you dont care about worldbuilding enough lmao.

depends entirely on whether or not they reside in the same universe. hlvrai is somewhat compatible with undertale, except for the uh. moral implications. we could argue that because the people they killed were not sentient beings, it does not affect the inherent message of undertale. however, the message in undertale is still about questioning the actions one takes in a videogame and giving you, the player, an apropiate response for the way you choose to engage with it. hlvrai, on the other hand, does not have this as a central theme at ALL. killing clones and bootboys is funny here and death is about as meaningful as it is permanent. which is to say not very lol

so different universes, then! which is good, because both our boys have been shown to exhibit SOME level of interdimensional awareness.

gman would be on a job, a couple universes over, where a centuries-long magical barrier was lifted just a couple years ago, thus freeing the civilization that was trapped inside.

human scientists are working with monsterkind to use magic for the betterment of everyone. one of the lead researchers for the magical division? you know it babey!!!! its gaster!!!!!!!! rescued by the ambassador of the monsters some years ago, up until then trapped in the nonexistent purgatory of the game's code, he's already made strides in the field. due to his meta-awareness however, he is spotted by the elusive interdimensional employers.

enter gman. he's tasked to assess the meta-aware characters, whether or not they were supposed to be aware in the first place, and keep tabs on them in case they become dangerous.

he's not supposed to be noticed, but as gaster trips one day and struggles to maintain his physical form, he steps in and helps him out. he's not about to let the poor guy melt, dammit.

they hang out for a while, just sitting on the floor, but once a human researcher walks in and asks who gaster is talking to, he finds that the man in the suit has vanished without a trace.

the following days, gaster is determined to make the mysterious man show up again. he knows his mind was not playing tricks on him, he had felt another soul with him during the few minutes they conversed.

it works. they keep meeting. they go on a date...

and of course canon-typical shenanigans ensue. but i haven't thought that far out.

Not so much just The Twilight AU where everything is the same but, moreso just want to see G-Man going "Hey what if two guys were on the moon and one killed the other with a rock wouldn't that be fucked up anyway I'm Gary Coolatta and you've just passed over to the dimension we call the stasis zone."

Now I’m imagining the three Gordons getting to the end and their three (gmans? Gmen? Garys mods?) popping up at the same time and being extremely confused. Especially Hlvrai gman bc like he just wanted to invite feetman to Tommy’s party but now there’s?? Two extra Gordons?? And two extra versions of himself?? And the others aren’t dads ?????? Like I love the idea of hlvrai gman being a pretty chill dude actually (compared to hl gman at least) like he just wants the best for tommy
