I am aware that Arsène Lupin is pretty much a gentleman from the +1910s France, and that A.J. Raffles died before that time, but I am also of the opinion that they would've loved to meet each other. Not in a "they're best friends" sort of way, but rather in a "i fucking hate when you get on my way but you look so cool while doing it i will shoot your face" sort of way. Raffles wants Lupin to stop talking as if everything was a joke, Lupin wants Raffles to stop making Bunny so anxious if it's unecessary and makes plans go wrong, and Bunny is on his 5th cup of cheap beer trying to keep it together. The three of them take temporary truces to complain about Sherlock Holmes

Dès le premier chapitre, c'était fascinant ne pas savoir où ou quand Arsène apparaîtrait. Parfois il était évident, mais cela ne diminuait jamais l'émotion de la révélation.

L'homme est tellement captivant. Carrément intelligent, mais il possède aussi un sens de l'humeur génial. Sa sûreté en tout moment était toujours une de mes choses préférées à lui. Ainsi que la facon dont il s'associe avec ses adversaires. Le fait qu'ils tous le respectent en tant que professionel et presque génie, me semble splendide.

Malgré qu'il est un voleur, et par conséquence quelqu'un dont le parole on ne pourraît avoir confiance, personne ne doute qu'il tiendra à la sienne toujours, n'importe quoi. Je trouve époustouflant qu'il a pu renforcer sa légende a tel point.

Pour les autres personnages, il est un fantôme, il peut tout le faire, mais j'adore que nous les lecteurs pouvons apercevoir ses erreurs et ses petits moments de faiblaisse, sourtout avec un personnage en particulière que je n'attendais pas revoir dans ce livre. J'était tellement ravie de la revoir.

Bref, c'est un chef d'oeuvre, et dans ma liste pour acheter une copie papier parce que j'aimerais bien le relire un jour.

Does Lupin speak to himself, or is his monologue meant to be internal? Given that he's supposed to be staying silent, it's probably internal, but I keep picturing him saying this stuff out loud.

Someone else got here first. No wonder the lock wasn't engaged. Of course Lupin's break in has absolutely damaged any evidence.

Maybe not a trap per se, but a murder scene functions like one for our hero.

I guess we're assuming she was a good boss, or at least not a bad one. There are certainly jobs where "I've worked for her for twenty years" is itself motive for murder.

Given the absence of evidence, I'm glad Danègre was acquitted. Being the sort of person who would commit a crime is not the same thing as having committed one specific crime, despite the belief of the police.

Issu du cinquième album « Jacques Dutronc »en 1971, l’Arsene est un grand succès , notamment comme musique générique du feuilleton du même nom (prix moyen sur Discogs : 3€). Il existe également une version italienne chantée par Jacques Dutronc avec le titre « Arsenio » … L’Arsene sera vendu à 100000 exemplaires en 1971 et atteindra la troisième place du hits parade belge . Toujours à la gloire d’Arsene Lupin, la version « gentleman cambrioleur »apparaît plus tardivement en 1973… (prix moyen sur Discogs : 1,64€). Le gentleman cambrioleur sera vendu à plus de 250000 exemplaires en 1974 avec un séjour dans le top 10 des hits parade français et belges.

I read Arsene Lupin; Gentleman Cambrioleur, to my sibling. And this is how they imagined them.

Maurice laughing at the stupidity of young Arsène Lupin. Arsène remembering how he lost all his savings because he was stupid.

I finished reading the 4rth story of Gentleman Cambrioleur, and I have so many favorite moments, what an absurd story:

- The guy that works with inmates not recognising Lupin at all and telling his wife "he looks like a very sweet man, don't worry, he's 100% innofensive :)"

- On a similar note, the wife immediately befriending him

- Lupin sleeping, and then waking up to attempted murder on himself. His only reaction? "Guess I'll die"

- On a similar note, Lupin having nightmares about Lupin. I know it was him dreading a person impersonating him, but can you imagine if he sees himself as an iredeemable villain the angst potential of this

- Lupin deducing and inducing the other criminal's movements, forgetting that the usual person does NOT do that with that level of accuracy, and thus almost unmasking himself

- "I feel so badass inside of my car with the boys :)" the boys being the police, yet to recognise him

- Pouncing on a murderer, no fucks given

- NOT KILLING THE MURDERER, GOING WITH THE MOST CONVOLUTING NON-LETHAL SOLUTION: MAKE HIM PASS OUT, STEAL HIM, WRITE A NOTE TO THE POLICE

- "I feel so sad I stole that lady's jewels, but then again her husband is corrupt"

- "I didn't go to my friend's house >:("

I'm currently working on a Nevermore AU inspired by "Gentleman cambrioleur" by Jacques Dutronc (it's in french srry). From memory, I think it's the theme of an old french show about Arsène Lupin, and I think it rlly fits white raven :]]

And I'm thinking of making a circus AU since they're all just sad little clowns '-'
