Could watch this a hundred times, and probably will. From the Head of Licensing and Consumer Products, Geoff Yetter, RWBY's found partners and is in talks with them now. They expect to keep the creative team on. More news in the coming weeks.
I was so happy to hear this during the 10 Years Later stream. We're getting some real confidence for the show continuing now, keep it up! Greenlight Volume 10!

Why you should watch RWBY legally
Before I even begin, I want to clarify that it's not my intent to start a fight, guilt-trip, nor force anyone to do anything they don't wanna do. I am merely here to state the facts, as far as I know, and share with you all the reasonings that brought me to my decision. The goal here is to give you all the pieces of information for you to make yours as well.
That said, let's begin.
RT has been awful, employees deserve better, you're angry on their behalf, and I get that because I am too. But I still want and will support the RWBY through Crunchyroll, and here's why:
Pirating is going to hurt CRWBY much more than it will hurt RT. That's the simple truth, in this cases it's always the bottom line that gets the worst of it, so if your goal is to help the employees pirating this isn't the way to go.
Strictly tied to the first one, if a boycott was needed and useful, then they would have told us so. We're not there, we don't know specifically how this stuff works, so deciding to go on a mass protest in their behalf withouth their consent would probably just backfire and put them in even worse conditions. If they'll ever ask that out of us, I will, but for now that's not the case.
All CRWBY, former or not, has been nothing but excited to share their work with us. They want the show to succeed, to keep going and grow, and they're working so hard to achieve that; it just doesn't feel fair to deny them because of someone else's bad actions.
Crunchyroll is the best half-way if you want to support the show without supporting directly RT. Even if I don’t know how the deal works, I’m pretty sure that considering CR doesn’t care about anything else RT might have to offer, any money sent to them would be specifically for the show to continue (and possibly improve)
CRWBY litterally asked us to support them. We can see that on Geoff Yetter's post,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
on A.G. Nonsuch's tweet that Kerry liked (and that even if he didn't I would still trust, because since she did work with RT and met CRWBY, I'm pretty sure she knows better than us)
Tumblr media
and Arryn's (animator) explicit answer when someone litterally asked how to support RWBY withouth supporting RT (also, if you check their twitter page you'll find multiple likes and retweets or posts sharing the same sentiment)
Tumblr media
Again, this isn't to force anyone to do anything they don't want to. I just want you to have all the information, think about what you goal is and act accordingly. Sadly, we can either support CRWBY or hurt RT, with Crunchyroll being the closest thing to get both.
Now, I know that a lot of people might want to support but can’t afford Crunchyroll (or simply don't see it worth it because they don’t watch any other anime). That’s completely fair and understandable but, if you want, I might have a couple of solutions to offer:
Share the account with someone else. It will cut costs, and for just a couple of months it should be bearable.
See if you know someone who already has one and is willing to let you temporarely use it.
Wait until all episodes are released and then make an account; CR offers a 14 days free trial for their premium subscription, and you could use it to binge the volume and still give it views (you don’t have to abstain yourself from watching the episodes as they air, you just need to give CR these views in the end, and if you don’t want to rewatch you could just let them autoplay).
In case someone is wondering, CRUNCHYROLL DOESN’T COUNT THE VIEWS BASED ON THE ACCOUNTS ALONE.
What I mean is that they count rewatches as views of their own, so if you share an account with multiple people and you’re all watching the show, all the views from each of them will be counted, and it will still support it (if you’re wondering how I know, I maild their Support and asked them directly).
That’s all about Crunchyroll. Technically, no one stops you from waiting a year and watch it on RT's platform; they'll be accessible with FIRST accounts only at first, then become free with ads later as usual. I doubt any of you would want to do that, but a lot of people seemed not to get that it won't stay behind a paywall forever so I thought it was worth sharing. I did say I wanted you to have all of the information after all.
And that’d be all, I guess. As I mentioned, this isn’t meant to guilt trip anyone: everyone is entitled to their feelings and what they feel is right. You do you. But as for me, I’d rather accidentally benefit some assholes in the process of helping someone who deserve it than having innocents get hurt because of the actions of some assholes higher ups.
RWBY is a unique show that deserves to live, and CRWBY (and I mean all the people, past and new) has been working so hard, for so long, to get to tell their story and make their dream come true. I don't want all of their work and struggle to be in vain as much as I don't want to lose my favorite show. So, I will listen to them and help them the way they ask me to. That's my goal.
Find what your goal is, and act accordingly.

I know people are stressed that vol 10 has not been greenlit yet but remember this is what they shared in January:
Tumblr media
Link:
All we can do is keep supporting the show through watching and talking about it. I really believe that they'll get to tell the full story. So have fun and fully enjoy the ending of volume 9!

Yeah I guess it makes sense that going through CR would help support the show without necessarily supporting RT (tho idk RT being owned by Warner-Discovery mean we’re damned if we do or damned if we don’t in this respect if RWBY is deemed better as a tax write off) but has anyone we know is still working on said anything either way? Or has anyone asked them? Every I know on Tumblr isn’t there anymore and I don’t really use Twitter
There's this RT post made by Geoff Yetter that has this section along with other info on vol 9
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's this tweet that Kerry liked
Tumblr media
And I do follow Arryn Troche on Twitter and they're very clear on their stance that watching on CR would be the best way to support the show and the crew.
That's what I have on hand right now but I've seen other posts that share the same sentiment. So yeah, my stance right now is watch RWBY legally if you can, that seems to be what CRWBY wants and I'll default to them before anything else.

Big news, or whatever news if you don't care about RWBY V9 anymore: it will now be hosting on Chrunchyroll.
if you had a First membership, well oopsie. You'll have to wait a year until you can watch it on RT's website.
Tumblr media
Also, Geoff brought up the pirating:
Tumblr media
I still highly suggest pirating the show since this guy isn't acknowledging the REAL reason why people would rather pirate the volume than give them money for their abusive work culture.
"But they needs the money," yeah and they need to learn how to be better people, so fuck off with that bullshit.

All right y’all, the doom and gloom discourse has started coming back and I won’t stand for it.
RWBY volume 9 is gonna be incredible. Watch it legally if you can. If you can’t don’t worry. But don’t bring others down. RWBY isn’t dead, not yet. Miles and Kerry are still there, along with Yssa and Eddy and a bunch more, so don’t listen to the “there’s no one left on CRWBY” discourse. And yeah, Crunchyroll has its issues, but how cool is it that RWBY has made it to such a huge anime platform? That’s some serious legitimacy!
So come on—let yourself be excited!!!

Ice Queendom is a standalone story but it’s still part of RWBY’s universe
Geoff Yetter: “First, the world of RWBY: Ice Queendom is NOT an alternate universe or a reboot. While the story is set in the same universe as the main show, we’re calling it “canon adjacent”. The new show is incredibly faithful to the original, while also taking some fun new liberties to switch things up a bit.”
Gen Urobuchi: “The people at Rooster Teeth told us to just have fun with it, but even so, it's still in their custody. “RWBY: The Ice and Snow Empire" is an outside story, like the spin-off drama "The Mandalorian" in the "Star Wars" series. We kept the characters' personalities in mind and tried to create a drama that would slip through the cracks of the main story.”
Kerry Shawcross: “We obviously want it - and this is where we started saying ‘canon adjacent’ and something like that - we want it to be RWBY and they want it to be RWBY, but it’s also not fun to just, put them in a box and not let them do anything that’s even like slightly unique. [...] It’s a balance of finding things, it’s like- yeah the back of her hair’s purple, who cares? It looks cool, and it’s gonna help for this.” [timestamp: 16:39]

Geoff Yetter (head of licensing at Rooster Teeth) really just teased a Volume 9 poster. After 3 volumes without one, I won't believe it until I see it, especially since they already released this promo art as a free wallpaper.

i just remembered Arrowfell is gonna be getting its own OST (and at least one of the composers for the game has also done some composition for volume 9) and Geoff Yetter has teased that Casey and Jeff have done an opening theme for it
so that’s gonna be cool

now i’m really wondering who they’ve cast as Nicholas because it seems pretty clear he’s the ‘surprise’ that Geoff Yetter teased in the Talk CRWBY To Me stream about Ice Queendom and he said it’s someone he’s wanted to work with for a long time

so in the talk crwby to me for Ice Queendom, Geoff Yetter says that there’s a person (i assume VA) he’s wanted to work with for a long time in the show who appears at the end of the season which he says is “a big, big, fun surprise”
now i have to assume this means this is a character we’ve not seen (or at least heard) before in the show, so it’s interesting that this character supposedly isn’t appearing until the finale
and then i remembered that the character profiles on the Ice Queendom site includes Nicholas - no character design or voice casting on there (interestingly Willow’s full design and VA is shown despite her so far only appearing from the back in a brief non-speaking appearance in episode 1, possibly spoiling she’ll appear with more significance later on), but attention is drawn to Weiss living up to his legacy specifically, so Weiss’s memory of him being what allows her to break free of the Nightmare would make sense there
bonus points if he initially appears as the Arma Gigas before the helmet breaks and reveals his face

so RTX RWBY panel predictions:
- plug for the Paladins collaboration event which is presently ongoing
- more hype for Ice Queendom, maybe show off a clip from episode 4, possibly show the dub trailer
- Arrowfell, release date, new trailer (with a look at a couple of cutscenes and gameplay, maybe hearing a snippet from a new Jeff and Casey song cos Geoff Yetter said in one of the comments to his first IQ post that they did something for the game)
- Volume 9 - we get the poster, another teaser screenshot, everyone is cryptic and vague and a clip is shown only to the RTX audience and we can only pray someone can record it because it will not be in the video of the panel that gets uploaded
- announcement of RWBY’s inclusion in Multiversus (likely only one or two characters but who knows), will show off some gameplay and a rough date of when it’s arriving (basing this off of Multiversus’ game director retweeting the @OfficialRWBY tweet to the Multiversus account today - we knew it was a tease to RWBY’s inclusion and he’s tweeted a bit about RWBY and Ice Queendom as well, so it makes sense to announce it at RTX)
- announcing another collaboration event in the works with a bandai namco mobile game to promote Ice Queendom (pure speculation but it makes sense and i think whichever game it is it’ll be funny as hell)
- announcement of another book (there hasn’t been any listed but they did complain about how we all knew before hand thanks to Amazon listing it long before it was supposed to last time so they may be keeping it better under wraps), maybe another tie-in thing like Fairy Tales or World of RWBY
- merch merch merch (feat. Ice Queendom merch)
- Q&A where mostly inane questions of little value are answered
