Underrated Albums: Part 1

I often find with some of the music I listen to, I’ll be thinking like, “Oh, I wonder what other people think about this online!” or if if the music is from a decade/longer than a decade, I want to search up more about the singer nowadays to see if they still make music.

...But then, when I search all this stuff up I find next to nothing. Maybe they have an Instagram or a YouTube channel with not many subscribers/comments.

Well, today’s example of that is George Nozuka’s “Believe.”

If you’re a Canadian that watched a lot of the Family Channel growing up like me, you’d know this album’s song Lie To Me (at least, I think it was on the Family Channel between songs... maybe my memory is serving me poorly). However, you might also know the songs Last Time, or Talk To Me.

So, I’ve been listening to this albums the past couple of days, and I find myself wondering why was this album not a hit. Nozuka’s got a pair of smooth vocals, and his songs fit the  mid 2000s style of R&B. Was there something going on that didn’t make him very well promoted? Were the rest of his songs not that great? Was the record label he was signed to not a good one? I don’t know... but it’s pretty depressing since it’s a good album. Lyrically, the songs aren’t anything out of the ordinary for R&B songs: some love songs, and a bunch of break up songs. Though, I must admit, the song Hurting Child was something I haven’t heard much of lyrically (the song itself mostly talks about being a child living with parents who are often in conflict) Personally, my favourite song is Can’t Stop Loving You. 

Gosh, listening to all these mid 2000s songs make me miss being young. I wonder what it would be like if I were my current age living back then.

Anywho, get this album on iTunes! You may just love it.

My music shuffled on to this old song called Talk To Me by George Nozuka today and in honour of your poll, I want you to know that this is very much how I imagine Ameliam’s first time.

I have to say I enjoy their morning after scene as much as I enjoy their first time. Ugh, I love them. work forced her to dye her hair and jiwon absolutely hates it because she thinks she doesn’t suit the blonde/hot pink hair dye combo ( lbr its super pretty but jiwon is adamant to believe it doesn’t suit her and her personality )

come the performance in jeju, she’ll be a public trainee and she isn’t sure how she feels about that considering just two months ago she became a trainee ... she thinks all this is happening too fast in her opinion

performance in jeju also means jiwon’s first time on a plane and she is terrified ( because of her fear of heights and because it’s her first time )

she is 100% Relieved that she was passed up for ktrookies because she can’t even imagine doing well on an evaluation, if she was in ktrookies -- she knows she’s been put up to Fail

since she was overworked, sometime on january 8, jiwon will faint and be sent to the infirmary

the doctors don’t call her mom but they insist that jiwon does call her ( jiwon does not end up doing so )

while she’s still unsure about the whole trainee / idol life ... that’s it: she’s still unsure of how she feels about all this

as mentioned above, jiwon dyed her hair to this and she feels awful about it because she dislikes change and thinks she sticks out too much now
