If you live in Georgia, please make sure to go vote today.
The ballot measures are fairly self-explanatory, but you also have equally important votes: Fani Willis, the DA prosecuting Trump, is up for reelection today.
And you have other Democrats running for office and judiciary seats, against Trump-loving Republicans who still openly support the January 6th insurrection.
And there are THIRTY ONE JUDGES on the ballot!
Vote for Robert Hillard Patillo, a Civil Rights Attorney running against Scot McAfee, the Kemp appointed judge overseeing the Trump trial.
Voting by itself isn’t the solution, but voting IS a necessary, yeah-you-gotta-do-it-every-fucking-time, part of the solution. Stated differently: your vote is necessary, but insufficient if you expect it to work miracles without local organizing and activism.
This post is way late, but the polls are open until 7pm. Please get out there and vote every single Republican candidate out of office.

Text begins: Man voting in Georgia is so different than in Illinois. When I lived in chicago, during early voting, I went to the local elementary school, waited in line about ten minutes, and they gave me a sheet of paper. I checked people off then I put it in the machine and left.
Not Georgia. We drove downtown because *every* other polling place had a line >90 minutes. We paid ten bucks to park. We went in the building, then emptied out pockets to go through a metal detector. We then saw a sign about where to park to get our parking validated. Inside.
We then waited in line ~80 minutes. We got to the end and we were given a form to fill out (?). We were told *not* to sign it until told. Then we were moved into a waiting room where we were given a ticket number, like when you are at the dmv.
We were told to get our IDs out and wait. We waited here for 15-20 minutes. When your number is called they took your form, did some stuff on the computer, then told you to sign the form. Then you get a little green card. You insert it into the machine.
Then you go through three or four prompts, including a very serious™️ warning about perjury, a totally necessary warning given how huge a problem stolen identity is for the purposes of voting on behalf of someone else.
You then finally vote, and after an “are you sure” prompt you get a sheet. You then have to walk the sheet over to feed it into a machine. About half of these were working.
The bottleneck was clearly the weird application and waiting room thing. There are two dozen people at a time sitting to have their stuffed checked. Think of it as regular voting except when you got there they had to run a credit check for *each person* like you need financing.
It was easier finishing my PhD paperwork. Thankful for the kind people (nearly all black women) the shepherded the processes. But man if you are poor or disabled or whatever, good luck yo. That should have been easier. We finished tho. Text ends.
Image ID: Two Black people are standing beside a city street and smiling at the camera, a man and a woman. The man has close-cropped hair and a beard. He is wearing a black hoodie that says Southside and has a sticker on his chest with a peach on it. The woman has large tortoiseshell browline glasses and long twist locs. She has a light brown leather crossbody bag, and is wearing a salmon-colored windbreaker. She also has a peach sticker on her chest, which she is pointing to. Her hand has a wedding ring. End ID]

Congrats to Fulton County (Georgia) District Attorney Fani Willis who just won the Democratic primary for her current position by a 7 to 1 margin. Ms. Willis is the prosecutor behind the indictment of Donald Trump and a number of other GOP miscreants in the 2020 election interference case in Georgia.
Fani Willis's Republican opponent in the November election, interestingly, will be a former intern at the Trump White House.
Willis, the Fulton County district attorney, easily defeated Democrat Christian Wise Smith. Willis and Smith, whom she also beat in the 2020 primary, both worked in the district attorney’s office under former District Attorney Paul Howard. [ ... ] Willis is now set to face Republican lawyer Courtney Kramer in November. Kramer, who interned in the Trump White House, ran unopposed Tuesday. Willis is considered the heavy favorite for the general election in Fulton County, which includes Atlanta. Willis brought charges against Trump last year for his role in trying to overturn the 2020 election results, as well as co-conspirators, which include Georgia GOP state legislators and the former head of the state Republican Party.

There seems to be no stopping the zombie fans of Donald Trump. Rather than seeing the former president’s multiple criminal indictments, including new charges filed in Georgia last week, as a reason not to support his 2024 run, nearly 3 in 4 Trump voters say showing support during his legal fights is a reason to support him.
According to a CBS News/Yougov poll released Sunday, Trump not only holds a commanding lead over the field of his Republican rivals, he now holds his largest lead yet since CBS/YouGov started polling on the 2024 race. Trump has the support of 62% of likely Republican primary voters, while his nearest opponent, Ron DeSantis, trails him with a measly 16%. That’s a 7 point drop in DeSantis support among those voters just since June.
Likely GOP primary voters also weighed in on Trump’s latest indictment, with 77% saying they believe the indictment is politically motivated. Trump and 18 others were charged in Georgia last week with felony crimes related to his attempts to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.
The poll also questioned likely Republican primary voters about the events of Jan. 6 and Trump’s attempts to overturn the election. Among MAGA supporters, 41% said that then-Vice President Mike Pence did “the wrong thing” that day by counting states’ votes (aka not letting Trump subvert democracy). Only 21% said Pence did “the right thing,” while 38% said they were not sure.
Despite Trump’s countless lies, 71% of Trump voters believe he is a source of “true” information, beating even their own friends and family, who ranked second with 63%.

Roger Sharp Archive: President Jimmy Carter on 1980 Campaign (3/21/1980)
Source:The New Democrat  As much trouble as President Jimmy Carter was in politically in 1979-80, having an approval rating somewhere in the thirties and looking very vulnerable to Ronald Reagan in the 1980 presidential election with all the economic problems and the Iranian Hostage Crisis, President Carter whipped Senator Ted Kennedy in most of the Democratic presidential primaries. Nikki Haley suspended her campaign for the GOP presidential nomination months ago and has not campaigned since. But she still got 21.7% of the vote in Tuesday's Republican primary in deep red Indiana. She passed the 30% mark in four Hoosier counties including Marion where Indianapolis is located.
Tumblr media
If a fifth of Republicans go out of their way to vote for a non-candidate this late in the race to show their objection to Trump, it doesn't bode well for The Donald in November.
While Indiana should still be considered solid for Trump, the continuing significant showing for Haley could mean trouble for him in toss-up states like Georgia and Pennsylvania.
Former President Donald Trump faced warning signs in the Indiana GOP primary as former Republican rival Nikki Haley received more than 20 percent of the vote despite dropping out of the White House race two months ago. [ ... ] Haley also received more than 26 percent and 18 percent of the GOP primary vote in the key swing states of Michigan and Arizona respectively, amounting to hundreds of thousands of votes. Several polls have indicated that many Haley supporters will not go on to vote for Trump in the 2024 election.
Trump has a problem even if 75% of those Haley voters in GOP primaries decide to hold their noses and vote for Trump in November.
Trump's appointment of anti-abortion fanatics to the US Supreme Court who then overturned Roe v. Wade does not sit well with some pro-choice Republicans.
And those Trump comments about being a "dictator on day one" and "retribution" should horrify anybody concerned about the rule of law.
A Republican former lieutenant governor of toss-up Georgia announced that he's voting for Joe Biden in November.
Former Georgia Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan says he is voting for Biden in November
Mr. Duncan understands that the only way to defeat wannabe dictator Trump is to vote for Biden. Casting a blank ballot, writing in somebody, or voting for an impotent third party will do nothing to protect democracy in 2024. That goes for liberals as well as conservatives.

It's official: as of the primary results tonight in Georgia and Mississippi, Joe Biden has secured the 1,968 delegates needed to win the Democratic nomination.
Trump is expected to secure the Republican nomination later tonight.
It is Biden vs Trump, a moderate Democrat who respects the peaceful transition of power, appointed the most diverse judiciary in American history, and has canceled billions in student debt, vs a fascist, court-proven fraud and r*pist with 91 felony indictments disqualified in three states as an insurrectionist, who is openly campaigning on dictatorship and ethnic cleansing.
Vote accordingly.
