I was going to say we need to be weirder about Maglor but then I remembered crablor. That’s on me. We need to also be DIFFERENT weird about Maglor.

Maglor who walks along the coast for thousands of years and does not stop singing. Maglor who after ages of the world have passed, has a voice that is made only for music. When he speaks, there is something too lyrical to the tone. He sighs and the world accompanies him. His raised voice sets the ground shaking, his laments call water like tears from the sky. He has to be careful when he speaks to people, however rare that is, because of it. He weeps and those who can hear him cannot help but weep as well. Maglor with a voice so powerful that he can no longer use it the way he could when the world was young. One more thing lost to the Oath.

sorry that i keep going on about the setup for the hussite wars and their context in KCD, but there’s plenty of evidence that the games are leading us directly to that conflict. everything from the political climate to the narrative choices seems to be laying the groundwork for henry to be swept up in something far greater than himself. i find that far more compelling to explore than reducing his arc to just his relationship with hans.

that’s not to say that his relationship with hans isn’t important—it absolutely is, and it adds layers to his character—but i wouldn’t call it the central focus of his story.

his relationship with hans is a meaningful part of the story, but i see henry’s journey as being more deeply tied to the war and his place within it. BUT that’s just the angle that resonates with me the most—not to say other interpretations are any less valid, just that i’m more drawn to exploring it through this lens.

got a nicely made pair of leather boots recently. I'd been making do with cheaper alternatives for my whole life, so buying a nice pair of boots felt like such a waste of money, but G-D. these things were so worth it. the leather remembers the shape of my foot, the padding has been sculpted in the image of my arch, and they are so durable. and sexy. they are very sexy.

as someone who loves safield immensely ( and is a firm believer that those two were in love with each other in game ), i will say that i actually agree with safi not being a love interest in de? honestly, i think explicitly heavy handed romance scenes would’ve dampened so much of what makes them special in my eyes … mainly because them loving each other so entirely speaks more volumes than if the game made a specific turn towards romantic or platonic affection? like, safield thrives in de without a specific label and while existing in that ‘are they?’ dichotomy. and, on the other hand, i just can’t think of any way they could’ve made a safi romance arc work with max’s and safi’s character directions. safi was always going to leave at the end and max was always going to stay. and, on top of that, as much as they both care for each other, there were many things standing in their way : themselves, other people … their respective ghosts. i much prefer safield being a slowburn in the sense that safi would become a romance option later on, as it gives safi and max room to breathe with other charactera and to find themselves more.

plus, lets be honest, safi’s plot would feel cluttered as all hell if they added a romance plotline on top of it ( my girls were already dealing with a lot, i genuinely cannot comprehend them acting upon their feelings in game ).
