In chemistry class today we used Jia and Li's ✨magic death mushroom beetle glitter✨ from To Sir With Love.
(Actually it was trans-dichlorobis-(ethylenediamine)-cobalt (III) ion. Or [Co(en)2Cl2]+ as it's called for short. No, I don't know what most of that means either.)

Also the experiment involved comparing colors in test tubes, so this meme was literally me in lab today:

I'm still so fucking mad that the conventional direction of current is opposite that of electron flow. Thanks Ben Franklin 🙄

I got a fucking A in chemistry! Oh yeah, baby. Not quite sure how, but I'm not going to question it.
(I also passed swimming, which I was slightly worried about, because what exactly was required vs optional was ambiguous.)

There's a young woman in the library whose jacket, sweatshirt, phone, travel mug, purse, binder, and pencil case are all the same shade of millennial* pink. I love the commitment to theme.
*i'm pretty sure she herself is gen z and not millennial, though.

(Her color is on the brighter end, like the background behind the pineapple, or the sparkly stuff on the toast.)

Microsoft is Evil
why when i go to save a file is there no way to choose WHERE to save the fucking file. they give you two options - the cloud, or some random ass folder on your computer that you never made.
(yes i know there are ways around this but this shouldn't be the DEFAULT fucking screen. WTF.)

This semester brought to you by the letter
✨ K ✨
between chemistry and physics, this week there are five K's I need to keep track of. Two are lowercase and three are uppercase, but that might make it worse because the difference is often hard to tell with a handwritten k.

It's hard to believe that bacteriophages are real. They're the one thing so far that makes me suspect ALIENS DID IT👽👽👽👽

I hate it when I actually make it to my bus stop not just on time but early (rare! impressive!) but my bus never shows up, so I end up being late anyway.

It's true I remember very little about natural logarithms, or any logarithms, or working with exponents in general, but also I suspect this mathematical manipulation is missing a step or an explanation.

Oh to be a little red glucose molecule snug in the embrace of a giant blue hexokinase enzyme.

@emotionallychargedtowel here's Zimbardo being a weirdo again.
He could have chosen any two stimuli to pair. And he settled on these.

Does anyone have recommendations for nuanced books/articles about collectivist vs. individualist cultures? I believe there is something to the idea, but a lot of what I’ve seen about it seems reductive, in a way that borders on being racist. So I’m curious to see what sophisticated analysis is out there.

I'm on the waitlist to get into this biology class, and I can't decided if I'm hoping enough people drop it that I can get in.
On the one hand, it would be convenient not to have to take it in the fall, and the current time slot works well with the rest if my schedule this semester. On the other hand, not taking it will significantly decrease my workload. Which matters even more since I still have two incompletes from last fall to finish up.
It looks interesting and the professors seem good, but that should stay the same next semester. And I probably wouldn't be ready to apply to PT programs anyway this summer, even if I did take it. 🤷🏻‍♀️
