“HOLDING HANDS UNDER THE TABLE” prompt with jess mariano please and thank u 🫶
SPOIL
this is the first thing i've ever written for jess, so i you enjoy besties <3 also, i am a lorelei and rory stan, so if you aren't or want to say anything mean, say it to a wall.
"holding hands under the table." (from this prompt list)
when you and jess got together, you wanted to keep it on the dl. well, he wanted to keep it on the dl. although you weren’t best friends with rory gilmore, you were kind of friends and he didn’t want to create any animosity between you, so you decided to not tell anyone about it.
before school, you would meet in the back parking lot where no one ever was. jess brought a surprise pastry to share and a cup of hot chocolate while you brought a new book.
"on the menu today, vanilla scones with lemon icing."
"ooh, luke's getting fancy." you teased.
"i'm pretty sure he bought them."
"then disregard what i said."
"and what book did you bring today?"
"kirk told me i had amazing taste when i bought the book."
"kirk told you that? why would kirk be working at the bookstore?"
"who knows? i've learned to stop questioning kirk." you handed it over to him.
"really?" you shrugged, "i am not reading this."
"oh, you're boring. come on, it's a good book." you insisted. he opened his mouth to argue when the bell rang, "are you actually going to come to class today?"
"i don't know, i kind of like hearing you recite everything back to me." you playfully shoved his head and grabbed your stuff, "i'm kidding. we'll see. i have some stuff to do before."
"what could you possibly be doing right now?"
"stuff." he responded, "i'll see you later. promise i'll be there."
"you better." he leaned down and kissed your forehead before he was on his way, "i'm holding you to it, mariano." he gave you a thumbs up.
true to his word, jess walked into class as if he hadn't missed the majority if the day, "you know, when you said you had some stuff to do, i didn't think it would take all day."
"you'll be happy to know i got you something." he produced a flower he had definitely picked from the garden on the way to school.
"awh, that's sweet." you cooed, "how much do we owe taylor for it?"
"he won't even know it's missing." jess rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair then grabbing your hand and holding it in his lap under the table, "i got you something else too, but that'll have to wait till later."
"ooh."
"not like that." he rolled his eyes, "a cd."
"cd? jess mariano, you are spoiling me." you smiled.
"anything to see you smile." he gave you a sarcastic smile.
taylor's 2.5k celly!

Word Count: 540
Includes: fluff, fluff and what do you know more fluff! Reader x Spencer where reader has a kid and he lets her know that is more than okay (kids name is Mia- 5 years old) (Prompt from this challenged by @imagining-in-the-margins )
You were on your way out of the office when Spencer caught up to you, matching your pace. You'd only been on a few dates and didn't want to push him seeing as the last one had been interrupted by a call from the school telling you, you needed to pick up your daughter.
She had gotten the stomach flu and was being sent home which was fine of course, except Spencer had answered your phone while you were using the restroom...and you hadn't quite told him about her yet.
It wasn't that you didn't love her with all your heart, but having a kid and dating was hard enough. Hell, finding a date with a kid was hard. So you wait till you know its not a deal breaker, and if it is then you leave them, you love Mia more than anything.
To say the least, that wasn't the way you wanted him to find out.
"Hey Y/n" he tried to catch your eye as you stopped by your car.
You avoided it when at all possible while you searched for your keys, "hey Spence"
"I uh- I know our last date was interrupted-which was totally fine by the way but-"
"Look I understand if this isn't for you. Say the word and.." god it hurt to even say it, "We can just be friends, no hard feelings."
Very hard feelings, very very hard for you to let go of him.
To your slight comfort he looked taken aback by this, "No-no I was just wondering if you'd like to go on another date?"
Oh, he wasn't leaving?
You found your keys. "Y-yeah that would be wonderful, when and Where were you thinking?"
"Maybe this weekend? There's a carnival, Saturday would be preferable, but my schedules pretty flexible."
Dammit. "What time?" You had placed your belongings in the car's passenger seat and now were standing in front of him.
"I was thinking around 12 in the afternoon or around there if thats okay with you?"
"I-I'm sorry I can't make it, Mia's got a doctors appointment in the afternoon..."
He looked disappointed, and dammit you knew it was too good to be true. "Oh. Well its open Sunday too, now worries, I-I thought she could come with us as well?"
Dear god he was perfect. "I-well I'd have to check with her but yea she's wanted to go for as long a her 5 year old brain can remember."
He grinned at your remark, the small crinkles of his eyes showing,
"Yea I read somewhere that carnivals can be very good to brain-train young children around her age and that the many of the more odd games can be quite beneficial for their growth, but if she's delicate to loud noises it would help if-"
You interrupted him then, grabbing him by his cute little tie with the numbers of pi and pulling him into a kiss.
When you parted you whispered against his lips, "You did your research doctor?"
You stared up at him through your lashes as he responded, never once did he break eye contact.
"Of course, she's apart of your life, and I want to be apart of it too Y/n, I'm in, I'm all in."

"you know, this would be a lot easier if you cleaned your room more often."
"that is so rich coming from you!"
playful bickering had filled the room for the better part of five minutes as you practically ransacked your room in pursuit of jess' missing jacket. it was here somewhere, but where, you had no idea.
it was almost frustrating. your room wasn't even that big, and unless jess had gone out of his way to hide it, there was no reason the search should have turned into an all out scavenger hunt.
"this is worse than that time kirk lost all of those eggs," you groaned, pushing yourself to stand after searching underneath your bed.
"so dramatic," jess quipped, though his search in your wardrobe also proved futile.
"what did you even do with the thing?" you questioned, unable to hold back your laughter as even the most odd places were found empty.
"i hadn't seen you in four days, i'm sorry that my priority was-" jess cut himself off, dark brows furrowed as he scanned something on your desk.
"what are these?"
after a moment, jess held up his hand, a few loose sheets of paper clasped between his fingers and confusion written across his face. you, too, were confused for a moment before you realised.
"oh, uh," you scrambled for words, feeling your cheeks heat up as you realised exactly what he'd found. "they're nothing."
smart.
"nothing?" jess repeated, clearly amused. "well, 'nothing' looks an awful lot like some poetry. pretty good poetry, by the way. you write these?"
there was no point trying to deny it. not when he was looking at you with a slightly crooked smile and a soft gaze reserved only for your company.
"i guess, yeah." you shrugged, still embarrassed. "they're nothing special, scribbles, really."
"no? they seem awfully romantic," he teased, though there was something else behind his words. "are they... y'know. are they about me?"
you could have laughed at his question, the answer being so obvious, but the moment between you both seemed so vulnerable, a bubble that could easily be popped by even one wrong word.
"of course they are."
with great care, jess placed the sheets back down onto your desk and made his way over to you. warm hands found your own, lifted until they were held between yours and jess' frames. he gave you another gentle smile before his lips were on yours.
each movement of his mouth was poetry in its own way, conveying every small thought and feeling jess wished to tell you. every sigh was a confession, the trace of his tongue against your lips his pen upon paper.
the search for jess' jacket could wait. jess had found something far more precious.

imagine you guys going to the country club and he's there to chat business with people and you're just there for the spa and middle aged lady gossip. imagine you guys in a big fancy victorian mansion in the rich people suburbs, going to charity balls and galas, always being the youngest, prettiest couple wherever you go. imagine going to his massive skyscraper office and getting glared at by his secretary because she's so jealous of you.

Idk if I'm doing this right but can you write something with Jess Mariano just being really cute and soft? Submissive isn't the right word but just how you'd think he'd be when he's really comfortable with someone and they're playing with his hair or something.
My Soft Boy
Summary: In which Jess only likes Y/n playing with his hair.
A/N: Okay so I did this as a headcanon instead! I hope you don't mind!
Masterlist//Main Masterlist//Agape Masterlist
Tumblr media
It should be known that Jess hates anyone touching his hair
Like no one but him can touch that hair of his
He styles it to perfection
But somewhere down the line, you came along
And it made him rethink it all
Apparently you had been working at Luke's Diner for a long time, and Jess has been surprised he hasn't seen you around in the few weeks he has been there
But then he finds out that you were on holiday
First time he had thoughts about you playing with his hair was before the two of you got together
It was a boring day at the diner
A Tuesday
Hardly any customers
And the two of you (now quite good friends) were playing cards, sat on either side of the counter
And there was a moment where Jess just focuses on your hands
Watching as your fingers fiddle with your own hair
And it brought a weird sensation to Jess and gave him that sudden craving of wanting your hand in his hair
He knew that you knew about his hatred for people touching his hair when you saw one of his dates/hook-ups try touching his hair and him telling her to "get off."
She stormed out the diner and he stormed off upstairs
Stating that he needed to wash his hair now
He came back down with wet hair in his face to continue his shift
And very cautiously you moved to stand in front of him to move a few strands of hair out from his eyes
He didn't tell you to 'get off' like you thought he would
Instead a soft smile appeared on his face and eyes fluttered as the smallest of touches
A few weeks after that, Jess found you reading a book under a tree
He came over to you - completely tired from school (he actually attended because of knowing you would be there)
And without any words he just sat down next to you
And laid his head down on your lap
Guided one of your hands away from your book to his hair
Closed his eyes
And smiled softly when he felt your hand very softly playing with his hair
He never fell asleep so quickly - and he never felt so calm before either with your hand in his hair
He was just falling in love with his best friend - and he knew after today he would have to tell you his feelings
(Especially if he wanted you to continue playing with his hair)

can i request a drabble for tristan dugray? like just PDA in school and him being protecting something like that, I love your work <3
hey darling!! absolutely in love with this idea,, thanks sm for sending it in!! i'm also so happy you like my work, that means the world to me so thank you!!🥺🤎
unless you make it clear to that pda isn't at all your thing, tristan's hands will never be off of you, especially in a public setting. school is the worst for this.
tristan knows that some of the other people in chilton have their eyes on you: i mean, who wouldn't? he knows that you're super hot with a great personality to match, so it makes sense that other people see what he does. unfortunately, tristan can be prone to jealousy. and what's the best way to show people you're taken than a bit (or a lot) of pda?
you'd close your locker to find tristan leaning up against the one next to yours, signature crooked smirk pulling at his lips. he wouldn't say a word before pressing his lips to your own, ignoring the crude remarks and whistles from your peers.
if you get flustered, he'd simply chuckle, wrapping an arm around you and pulling you into his chest to shield you from the view of the surrounding students.
"sorry babe," he murmurs, though unapologetically. "just had to let everyone know you're mine."

A Fragile Reunion
Dean Forester x reader
part 1 | part 2
Tumblr media
The weight of regret hung heavily on Dean's shoulders as he embarked on his journey to win back your trust. Every step he took was filled with uncertainty and trepidation, yet his determination to right his wrongs propelled him forward.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, as Dean poured his heart and soul into demonstrating his remorse. He wrote letters filled with heartfelt apologies, expressing the depth of his regret and his unwavering love for you. He left them on your doorstep, hoping that his words would reach your heart and ignite a glimmer of forgiveness.
But the silence that followed his efforts only intensified his anguish. Doubt gnawed at his insides, threatening to unravel his resolve. He couldn't help but wonder if his actions were in vain, if he had truly shattered any chance of reconciliation.
One day, as Dean stood on your doorstep once again, letter in hand, he hesitated. His hand trembled as he debated whether to leave it behind or to knock on the door and face you, to see the pain he had caused reflected in your eyes.
Summoning all his courage, Dean raised his hand and knocked, the sound echoing through the quiet street. Moments stretched into eternity until finally, the door creaked open, revealing you standing there, your eyes filled with a mixture of emotions—pain, uncertainty, and a glimmer of hope.
"You," you whispered, your voice barely audible. "What do you want, Dean?"
His heart thudded painfully against his chest as he looked into your eyes, his own filled with remorse. "I want to make things right, to earn back your trust," he pleaded, his voice laced with vulnerability. "I know I made a terrible mistake, and I can't change the past, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes to prove to you that I've changed."
You studied his face, searching for sincerity amidst the pain. Slowly, you opened the door wider, allowing him to step inside. The room felt heavy with unspoken emotions as Dean cautiously entered, his eyes never leaving yours.
"I've spent so much time reflecting on what I've done," Dean began, his voice tinged with a mixture of regret and determination. "I've sought guidance, I've taken steps to become a better person, and I want to show you that I've learned from my mistakes. I want to prove that you can trust me again."
You listened, the words hanging in the air, mingling with the uncertainty that still clung to your heart. Emotions waged war within you as you struggled to reconcile the pain of betrayal with the lingering love you once shared.
"Dean," you finally spoke, your voice trembling with a mix of caution and longing. "I don't know if I can trust you again. But there's a part of me that believes in redemption, in second chances. If you're willing to put in the work, to show me every day that you've changed, maybe... just maybe, we can rebuild what we once had."
Dean's eyes widened with hope, tears of relief shimmering within them. "I promise you, I'll do everything in my power to make things right," he vowed, his voice filled with sincerity. "I'll cherish your trust and love like never before. Together, we can overcome this and create a future filled with happiness and healing."
As the room filled with a renewed sense of hope and the tender promise of healing, Dean and you stood at the precipice of a new beginning. The journey of redemption lay before you, a path filled with challenges and uncertainties, but also the potential for growth, forgiveness, and a love stronger than ever before. Together, you embraced the opportunity to rewrite your story, fueled by your shared determination to forge a future built on trust, understanding, and the unwavering belief in the power of second chances.

hii can i request a jess mariano x fem reader blurb with “touch her and you’re dead” or "head scratches/playing with the others hair" ?
doing head scratches because i have another request for the first prompt
a movie played softly in the background but you couldn’t focus on anything but the feeling of jess’s fingers scratching gently at your scalp. his fingers were pushing from behind your ear to the back of your head repeatedly. you sighed at the feeling. you two were laying on the couch in your living, well you were laying and jess was sitting with your head in his lap.
“you falling asleep?” jess asked in a half-whisper. his fingers pressed a little harder, the pressure relaxing you even more. you nodded and he shut the tv off. “c’mon let’s go to sleep.”

Can you do a mash up of 1,11, 21 and 27?
Requests are open:
From this prompt list
Universe: Coffee Talks, Gilmore Girls AU.
Another house party, but hey that's what celebrating senior year was supposed to be right? Countless parties thrown in whoever house would not have parents for the weekend? So here she is, clinging to Steve's arm as they maneuvered through the sea of bodies. Cheap alcohol lingers in the air with a scent signifying someone was also at the party.
Even in a room full of people she could spot him in a heartbeat. Always lingering in the shadows, never really joining in on the fun. Instead, Eddie chose to stick to the sideline and make sure his customers were happy. He also happened to enjoy watching MJ work through the room.
She had already forgotten that Steve was the arm she was gripping as she made eye contact with Eddie, a grin forming on her face. She raised a hand to wave, Eddie giving a two-finger salute in return with a faint smile.
He wasn't afraid to admit it. Eddie was crushing hard on the goody two shoes. He would flirt with her any chance he got, even if that tool of a boyfriend was standing right next to her. There was just something about her he couldn't place. A quality he had been searching for within himself. An innocence he had lost long ago.
MJ and Steve had wound up in the kitchen. Bodies pressed against the counter as cups of "pure fuel" were dished out into cheap plastic cups. MJ peaked up from her spot and locked eyes with Eddie from across the room. He smiled, raising a cup of his own with a smile. She mimicked him, not noticing the puzzled look on Steve's face.
"Who're you looking at?" Steve leaned over to look at the mystery person. "Oh great, Munson."
“Cut him some slack, he isn’t as bad as everyone says.”
“Yeah okay MJ, I see this freak like five days a week at school. I know how he is.” Steve is pulling her away at this point, searching for a corner that isn’t tainted with Eddie.
“Don’t call him that,”
“What?”
“Freak,” MJ swallowed a hearty portion of her drink. “He’s not a freak Steve. He’s actually pretty nice if you got to know him.”
“MJ I do know him-“
“No, you don’t!”
Unbeknownst to them, Eddie was tracking their every move in the house. Dark eyes never left the outline of her body. The first sign of tension between the happy couple Eddie was moving through the crowd, ready to get in between them. MJ turned, ready to walk away from Steve with eyebrows furrowed together.
She brushed past him, hands brushing, fingertips lingering for a second longer as he stopped and turned to see her go back into the kitchen. The backdoor slammed and Eddie was sure he was stomping down the back steps to go cool down.
“What was that about?”
Steve moved past Eddie, shoulder hitting him in the chest as he tried to leave the room.
“Hey,” ringed fingers pull the retreater back around. “I asked a question. Why is MJ upset?” Fingers flex and his grip tightens on Steve’s jacket.
“It’s none of your business, man.” Steve pulled against the hard grasp. “Why don’t you back to selling weed? That’s the only reason why you’re even here.”
Eddie let go, letting Steve stumble backward before retreating back into the shadows to continue his deals and watch out for her.

jess is a cat person, through and through. maybe it's because they reflect some of his own traits; they're happy to do their own thing for the most part, not needing to be fussed over every five minutes. in spite of this, jess absolutely adores your dog. whenever he comes over, a grin tugs at the corner of his lips as your dog pads over to him, tail wagging like mad as they beg for pets (jess is more than happy to oblige). even though he complains whenever you're cuddling and they flop down in between you, making jess have to move to accommodate them as they stretch their body across you both and rest their head on your stomach, his heart still melts at the sight of you both cuddled up together. one of his favourite pastimes is walking them around town with you, a small chuckle leaving his lips every time you're pulled along by your over enthusiastic pet. jess loves your dog, yes. but he loves you far more.

PLEASEE AND I MEAN PLEASEE DO SOME JESS MARIANO X SHY READER!!
𝐔𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐍 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐒 !
Tumblr media
pairings! jess mariano x shy fem reader
warnings! bullying… nothing else!!! very simple blurb
a/n! been writing like 400 word blurbs lately and it’s so fun. so simple, i love it. but i promise i won’t be lazy and i’ll start writing longer oneshots i swear 😭 also i didn’t even reread so if it sucks idc
JESS MARIANO had never been one for small talk. He preferred to keep to himself and let his actions speak for themselves. That's why it came as a surprise to everyone in Stars Hollow when he started dating a shy girl who spent way too much time overthinking her choice of words.
She was quiet, reserved, and had a hard time opening up to people. She was often the target of teasing and ridicule from her classmates, who mistook her shyness for weakness. But Jess saw something in her that no one else ever bothered to.
He liked the way she listened to him when he talked, and the way she didn't feel the need to fill the silence with meaningless chatter. They spent most of their time together in comfortable silence, each lost in their own thoughts. Or admiring one another.
One day, while they were walking through town, a group of idiotic jocks started taunting Emily for her quietness. They made fun of her for being too shy to speak up during her presentation the day before. It wasn't hard for Jess to notice the interaction immediately, considering his eyes were always scanning for his girlfriend. But the hurt look in her eye was enough for him to want to pounce.
Without a word, he stepped forward and confronted the bullies. He didn't raise his voice or use any physical force, but his calm and collected demeanor was enough to make them back off. A simple, "Can you guys go back and  get benched by Coach Rivers and stop messing with my girlfriend?" The baseball team didn't even bat an eye before heading off. Not wanting to mess with the guy who'd bashed their friend, Dean's, skull a couple months before.
The couple found comfort in each other's company and learned to appreciate the beauty in silence. Jess began to see the world in a new light. He realized that sometimes, the most powerful messages are the ones left unspoken.

WHEN YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW 𝜗𝜚 𝐉𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐎
━━━ in which he knows he’s fallen for her but chooses to ignore it but she doesn’t, causing both of them heartbreak…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jess wouldn’t know what love feels like, simply because he doesn’t know how it feels like. Coming from a mother who was too busy getting boyfriends than to be paying attention to her son, he didn’t know.
He was a troubled teenager, he knew but he didn’t care, but living in such a small town, it made him go insane. Then again it gave him the chance to experience love.
Her name was Maggie short for Margaret, she was a sweet experience for Jess, but he wouldn't say that out loud. She was a girl with a sweet attitude if approach with one, though Jess didn't really introduce himself like that.
He laid eyes on her the moment he entered his uncles diner, she was helping a customer and bussing tables. "Mags, come over here for a sec." Luke gestured the girl over, making her slowly but surely examine the boy.
"This is my nephew, Jess." Luke introduced him, in which he had a bratty face, looking the girl up and down with judgement. "Jess, this is one of my employes named Margaret." Luke signaled to the girl.
"Pleased to meet you." She wiped her hand with her waist apron, wanting to shake the boys hand. "Right.." Jess pushed around her, making her just stand there. Luke sighed and walked over to Jess taking him upstairs.
Margaret looked at the boy with a glare and got back to work.
Tumblr media
The second time Jess had an encounter with Margaret was when he was escaping dinner at the Gilmore household. He was sneaking out from the back and making his way on the main road, there he heard a light voice reading.
It was a story he's heard about it but never read it, but it made him surprise who was reading it. There she was, sitting in by her window, was Margaret, quietly but somehow clear in her words when reading. "Taming of the Shrew?" Jess smirked looking up.
It made the girl jump in her skin, quickly shutting her book, looking down to see the boy smiling. She looked at the boy confused, she was out of her work attire and she hadn't seen the boy since that day.
"Jess, was it?" Margaret asked, looking at the boy, in which he nodded. "why are you here, at night, all alone?" She asked, looking around the street. "Escaped dinner." He muttered. His eyes shifted towards her, he examined her.
Her hair was loose (she was a brunette, he noticed) and a semi large 'The Smiths' shirt covered her upper half. He smiled stupidly, looking up at her again. "the smiths?" He said it like it was a joke. She focused her attention to him again. "yes? they're my favorite band." She says.
"Interesting choice.." Jess said making it a bit insulting. "At least it's not ABBA.." She muttered making him whip his head back at her. "No way you think of that." He wanted to laugh. "Go home Jess!" Margaret said before shutting her window's close.
Jess had this asshole smile, as he walked away, he knew something of her little by little.
Tumblr media
Jess didn't really like Star Hallow, but this was interesting. "Whatcha doing?" He leaned on the diner counted looking at the girl below, in which she was organizing the inside of her basket. "Getting ready for the Annual Basket auction." She replies.
"Got good stuff in there?" Jess tried to peek in it before she closed it, looking up at his as if he was stupid. "You have to bid on it if you want to know whats in there." Margaret huffs up as she walks into the back to get her coat.
"So what if I bid on it?" Jess asked, this got her attention. "Now why would you do that?" She asked making him wonder about it before replying. "To see what's in the basket..?" He teased, making her groan and roll her eyes.
When it came to her basket, she was surprised on how many boys bid on it, making her nervous. "20, do we have a 25?" Taylor asked making the crowd shift, making the girl eye the last boy that bid 20, until someone actually bid 25 dollars.
"Twenty-five, here." Jess rose his hand, making the crowd look at him, and so did Margaret. "No more bidders?" Taylor asked the others, watching as the boy groan and lose the basket and the girl he wanted to go out with.
"It goes to the fellow in the yellow jacket." He hammers the table lightly before moving on. "You actually bidded on my basket?" Margaret looked at him confused. Making the boy keep walking with the basket in hand.
"Yes I did, let's move on." They walked away from the plaza, Jess was taking her away from the crowd. He actually brought her to the lake luke had pushed him into some days ago. "My goodness, did you bring me to the place Luke pushed you in?" She snickered, in which made him look at her.
She giggled and sat down near the edge, making him follow along. "You're actually in luck, I put some good stuff in this basket." Margaret smiled and opened the lid, revealing the goodies inside. "This seems like diabetical murder scene." Jess said in a monotone voice.
"Hush, there some healthy options here." Margaret pulled some sandwiches out, handing one out towards him, the scene was a comfortable silence.
Jess looked around before swallowing his bite. "The boy bidded on your basket because he wanted to make a pass on you.."Jess said making the girl look at him. "oh, um well thanks for doing that.." She smiled at him.
The silenced became a bit unsettling, the boy looked away from her, noticing how he made the situation a tad bit more still? "Sorry the guy was being an ass, so I did the more responsible choice.." He said, taking a chip from the basket.
Margaret looked at him, nodding in understandment. "Thank you for being responsible." She smiled slightly, then the silence turned a bit more comfortable.
"Maggie."
Tumblr media
Margaret didn't know the Bracebridge Dinner would be such a problem, it was never one, not until this year. She was so fussed up with what to bring, what clothes to arrive in, what to look like, why was this so hard?
Maybe it was because he was here this year. She didn't really understand, they haven't properly interacted since Annual Basket Auction, but there was always signs..
When he would peep around just to glance at her, little actions such as him giving her a peeled orange, her cup of coffee at the diner, doing her chores little by little. It made her develop something she didn't want.
She had developed love towards the boy, and she wanted to throw up. She didn't mean it in a disgusting way but deep down she knew it was a one sided love.
Margaret could only look at herself in the mirror and just let her imagination go wild. What if Jess developed the same feeling as she did?
Would they become more? It made her heartbreak because it wouldn't work.
She ended up going to the dinner with a white knitted sweater and a black skirt, the black tights weren't really helping tring to block the cold winter air.
The first thing she saw was Jess talking to Rory, both noticing her when she walked in with her older brother and his wife. Maggie hated fidgeting with rings, and made her anxious.
Jess was about to tease her until she had walked passed them, making both of the teens look at her. She was talking to Lorelai, who was directing her to their room.
Jess could only look at her and just stare, what was going on with her? Was there something bothering her, or was he bothering her.
The dinner was intense, Margaret could feel his eyes burn holes into her. She could only just sit and eat, ignoring his presence because it made her think of things she didn't want to imagine.
She was half of the people that had left for a sleigh ride, some left before dinner and the other half did it again after. Maggie had a nice warm mug of hot chocolate sitting on her lap, along with a blanket to cover her exposed legs.
She huffed as she could see her hot breath seep out. She was alone once again, her brother and his wife having their own moment. The driver was about to move until there was a shift in the carriage.
"You didn't have the patience to wait for me?" It was Jess. Then instantly her palms became clammy and the warmth that was just in her legs suddenly rose up to the rest of her body. "You're ignoring me or something?" He kept pestering.
"No, just didn't feel like talking today." Maggie just knew that sounded lame once it came out of her lips. Jess kept looking at her and he saw her eyes go somewhere else. He stood still for a moment before sitting straight in his seat.
They had been sitting there almost half of the sleigh ride, and the air was thick. Until a head was placed in her shoulder, Maggie looked over just to be greeted with black hair in her way.
Jess had began to lean into her body more, making her lean away. "What are you doing?" Margaret could feel her face heat up, and he could feel it. "You're hogging the blanket, jeez don't you know how to share?" Jess said before it returned back to the quietness.
Then he could feel the blanket go around him, but he could feel the body next to him more clearer now. The rough thick khaki jacket he had on was a big contrast to her black leather jacket.
He could see her rosy cheek, her puffed out pink lips and her messy brown hair that was under the white beanie under her head.
When you know, you know.
Jess huffed and Maggie could feel him relax under the blanket, but he still had his face shoved into her neck. "I got you a present." Jess had whispered, making her the only one able to hear it. Maggie could only chuckle, the vibration making its way towards him.
"Me too."
Tumblr media
Everything had changed after that, Jess seemed to be around more frequent, he seemed to care more. He had became a little bit more open with her, more genuine with her.
Then it had all changed a month before graduation, when he found out he wasn't eligible to graduate.
Now Maggie stood in front of him, near the bus station going to hartford. He had things packed and he hadn't said anything about leaving, not even her.
She just by chance was passing through there, she had came back from visiting harvard. Coming home to tell him the news, that she had been accepted.
Instead of seeing him near the diner, he was getting ready to leave her. It was eating him alive when he saw her get off the bus and head towards him. "Where are you going?"
"None of your business." His voice was blunt, making her flinch just a bit. "Excuse me?" She was confused, why was he sour?
"You're excused." He huffed out. "What's up your ass today?" Maggie was speechless. Jess on the other had sighed, visible annoyed. Maggie huffed, sitting down right next to him.
"Where are you going." She asked again, after some time of silence. Jess was still ignoring her, making her knee shove itself towards him. "I'm leaving.” His answer didn’t affect her, she knew it was going to happen either way.
Maggie looked at him, making him stiff as a board. “Okay.” She had finally peeled her eyes away from him. Jess was starting to bite his nails, he felt uneasy about this drastic change he was about to commit.
Both of them saw a bus going towards Star hallow coming their way. Maggie was going to tell him, before she would never see him again.
She knew she couldn’t make him stay, so she would unravel it all today, before he left. “Here.” She handed him a fresh book that was wrapped. Jess could see her hands shake, he could hear her voice shake, and he was the cause of it.
Jess looked at her, her face was somewhat in denial but it was putting up front he knew too well. He took it out of her hands. “this is your early birthday present.”
Before he could respond, she stood up grabbing her bag and making her way towards the bus. She stopped and grabbed something out of her bag.
“Here, this is my new address starting in March, feel free to write me or to drop by.” Maggie smiled at him, making him take the letter, it was a street near Harvard. His eyes were wide, this was big news, for her, for them.
He had encourage her to at-least apply and she agreed now she had been accepted. “Just because you’re leaving doesn’t mean we’re no longer friends, we’re friends.” She said.
“Friends can lean on each other, you can lean on me if you want to Jess, but that is a step you need to take, okay?” Jess was still, a million thoughts running through his head, He was barely able to hear her say.
“I love you, Jess.” It was like the world was becoming still, and the last horn to Star hallow blew and she walked away. Forever leaving him until he decided to reach out and lean on her.
Jess saw nothing but truthfulness on her face, and his heart palpitated. Jess was in love with her, he wanted nothing but to kiss her, hold her just for a minute but his time was up and she had been nothing but patient.
Jess however had turned hesitant, she was headed toward her dreams and he was still lost. So he let her leave, leaving her with hope that he will choose her... he never did.
He would say that was his biggest regret.
Tumblr media
She waited, waited for two year that eventually turned into four, and ended at five. She was now twenty two, and has only a dash of hope, but it flew away when she met him.
A boy who was like her, waiting for someone. Somehow they met as an accident that turned into a friendship that healed them, and turned into love.
His name was Theodore, and he had healed her waiting heart that was stuck in denial and hope. Two years had flown by and she had moved on, now planning her wedding.
She had returned to Star Hollow to hand out wedding invitations to closer relatives and friends. Maggie had contacted her brother to meet up at Luke's diner. "My, look how you've grown up!" Eliza her brothers wife had said. "Hey Maggie, how's Theo?" Tyler, her brother asked, making her roll her eyes. "You haven't seen me in a long time and you ask for theo?" She said, making the man surrender jokingly. "How've you been?" Tyler said slinging his arm around, making her laugh. "Happy."
Luke was surprised when he saw her enter the diner, he was happy but he had gotten a tinge of sadness in his old heart. The last time he had seen her wasn't that long ago but to him, she was still seventeen.
"Hey Mags." Luke side hugged her, making her smile. "Hey, how've you been?" Her smile had turned large, she wouldn't lie, she had missed him. "Busy and tired running this place." He exaggerated, massaging his shoulders jokingly. Maggie laughed, making him smile a bit. "This place needs you back, miss my handy employee."
She had laughed harder this time and continued to talk to him before eventually going to sit with the people she was originally going to talk too. "Here it is!" Maggie pulled something out of her bag, in which was the wedding invitation. "God, you're growing up." Tyler took the card, almost tearing up watching his baby sister grow into a wonderful lady.
"I want Eliza to be my maid of Honor." Maggie asked shyly making the other woman jump in excitement, then sitting back down. "I'd love too!" She smiled.
Eventually they had invited her to their house, her little nephew had missed her dearly.
Margaret smiled big, she loved this part Connecticut, her little town. She watched the kids she once knew pass her by telling her hello, and other things. She had entered Luke's diner with no thought in her mind, looking up to find Luke.
Then again, she turned into a fool everytime he looked at her. "Jess." Maggie felt her heart drop as his name became a foreign language.
Jess was surprised to see her, then his mind went blank.
The two adults had stood there still, what was wrong with her? She had waited for this moment, because she was over him. "Hi, um how've you been?" She said taking a step near the counter. Jess was still looking at her, taking her features in.
"I've been good, you?" Jess finally mustered something out, making the girl look around before responding. "I'm fine, do you know where you uncle is?" She asked looking around again, the diner was empty, it was just them. Jess's eyebrows frowned "Upstairs.."
"Alright, it was nice seeing you." She smiled at him before walking away. Jess could only think about was why was she so calm, acting like she didn't care.
"Luke you in there?" Maggie knocked before the door swung open. It was Lorelai, and Luke, they seemed flustered. "Woah is this a bad time?" She said, before the two yelled a 'no'. "Well this is actually a good time for me, Lorelai come here." She said, walking to were luke was.
The other two looked at eachother, as the younger one pulled something out. Lorelai was the first one to see it, making her scream. "You're engaged!?" She yelled, leaving no time for the girl to respond before pulling her into a bone crushing hug.
Luke was shocked but congratulated her, but when he was done she laughed. "Gosh, you guys, wait!" She said before pulling out wedding invitations, making the other woman scream more. "You're getting married!?" She yet again pulled her into a hug.
"I want both of my parent figures there..you guys mean so much to me." Maggie gave them a sad smile that was quickly wiped off. Luke had laughed a bit, while Lorelai cried happy tears just a bit.
After some time Lorelai had left to tell Rory the news, after her Luke walked her down. That was when Luke remembers what happened between her and his nephew, quickly looking at her. "It's fine, I'm over it." She smiled.
Jess had noticed her and Luke walk past him, before leaving the diner to talk outside. "Luke, I wanted ask you for a favor." Maggie said, catching the attention of the older man. "I want you to walk me down the aisle, but it's totally up to you!" Maggie continued to talk until Luke hugged her. "I'd love too."
With that Maggie smiled and hugged him back, after sometime they parted. Maggie could see on luke's face that he was thinking about something, and she knew what. "He can come too, I don't mind."
Luke looked at her with worry, only for her to shrugged it off. "I'm over it Luke, I've met the love of my life, and I'm happy.." She stated while Luke nodded, then she left.
Luke smiled a bit before going back upstairs only to find Jess staring at the invitation back upstairs. "Are you going to go?" He asked a bit dull. "I am." Luke snatched it out. “Ironic.”
"She was nice enough to invite you too, knowing you broke her heart." Luke had a harsh habit of reminding him, making him wince. “You need to get over it.” He continued, making the boys anger grow once again.
“She’s finally moved on and able to find happiness, you should follow in her steps.” Luke said. “Please why are you so angry about this? It was just a stupid crush she had.” Jess anger began to bubble.
“It wasn’t a stupid crush, she was waiting for you for five years!” Luke declared. Jess anger disappeared, now he was looking at his uncle with a confused look. “What do you mean five years?”
“Five years my ass! When I finally had the courage to go see her, she was already with him! She broke that promise.” Jess yelled, making Luke frown.
“She met Theodore when they were both healing! He was nothing but a friend to her, a year later they began dating, she moved on! Now she’s over you and now getting married.” Luke screamed back, making Jess quiet again.
“You didn’t have enough courage, but she did. She was able to look at you and forgive you, takes a really nice person to do that.” Luke finally said. “I’ll be going to that wedding, and I’ll be walking her down that aisle.” He said slapping a rag down the counter.
Jess looked at his uncle who stormed upstairs, now wanting to scream at himself for being an idiot. Jess ran outside and looked for her around the plaza, he saw no one.
Tumblr media
She looked eternal, that's how Jess would describe her. She was like a model you would see in a bridal magazine, the ones that found the perfect dress.
Jess was nothing but awestruck, watching her walk down the aisle with his uncle's had guiding her down, handing her to her future husband. Jess saw it in his smile, he looked in love with her, it made him think. Would that have been him, if he chose her?
The whole ceremony was beautiful, Jess eyes were just on her. Capturing every time she smiled, when her eyes twinkled towards her lover. When she cried reading her vows, and looked at him while he read his.
When she kissed him as everyone erupted cheered for the happy couple, making him stand up as well. Finally watching her walk down the aisle but now with someone that would cherries her like he should've done.
As the party, Jess wanted to run away from the crowd. So he did, sneaking around before he made his way to his car, until he heard a voice he knew so well. "What are you reading these days?"
Jess looked behind to find her with a kind smile, her after party dress that made her move freely now. Jess could only think of their first encounter years ago. "Mostly taming of the shrew and others.."
"Jess, was it?" Margaret smiled, looking at the boy, in which he nodded. "why are you here, at night, all alone?" She asked, looking at the sweet boy with a knowing look he knew too well. "Escaped dinner." He muttered, his eyes shifted towards her, as he examined her.
Her brunette hair was loose, while it was halfway tied up, and her body contained a loose white sundress, god was he a fool. He smiled stupidly, looking up at her again. "The smiths?" He said as the background noise was her favorite Smiths song, the singing along of her guest said so too.
She focused her attention to him again. "yes? they're my favorite band." She says. "Interesting choice.." Jess said making it a bit insulting. Margaret looked sadly at him, the air became a bit awkward. “Just because we had a rough time with our relationship doesn’t mean we’re no longer friends, we’re friends.” She said.
Jess eyes widen, how could she? How could she still say he's a friend after everything he's done. "Jess, you have to put in mind we both experience the same hurt, in the end we didn't end up together." She said, making him look at her nervously. "As your friend, I would want you to move on.. as the girl you broke her heart, I would want you love someone better."
“Friends can lean on each other, you can lean on someone special if you want to Jess, but that is a step you need to take, okay?” Margaret said, giving him a sad smile, before turning away. "Bye, Jess, Love you." She said, before walking away.
Jess stood there, as the tears finally bursted out. Maggie short for Margaret, she was a sweet experience for Jess. She was an experience he wished he could relive and do the right thing, because he had finally lost the girl he loved, the girl who genuinely was ready to be by his side, but she needed him to take that step.
A step he regretted not doing everyday after he wedding.

Mirrorball (Blueathens Version)

Luke didn’t believe in magic, he thought it was all a make-belief idea just to make children excited about things like fairies and witches.
But if Luke could, he would take back everything he once said bad about magic as he watched his nephew laugh – actually laugh.
Jess Mariano was laughing, and Luke didn’t think it was possible for Jess to even give a slight turn of his lips, but here he was actually laughing. Luke has never seen anyone laugh as hard before, but here his nephew was, laughing with Rory’s younger twin, and Luke could swear this was a miracle.
This was in fact magic.
But Luke didn’t know why he was surprised, everyone loves Y/n, there was something about her that when she was near it would bring instant happiness to everyone around, she just had this armoured glow that surrounded her – but Luke never thought it would have an effect on Jess, he personally thought that Jess had this some form of curse upon him where he wouldn’t let himself be happy.
But he was laughing – really laughing.
“Is Jess smiling?” Ceaser questioned as he walked out from kitchen, standing next to his boss, as he, along with everyone else in the diner, secretly watched the two young teens laugh at whatever nonsense fell from the their lips.
“Shh,” Luke aggressively says, not once moving his eyes away from the pair. “I don’t want anything to ruin this.”
“But Jess is smiling,” Ceaser points out. “Laughing actually.”
“I’m aware.” Luke said as he tried to make it seem like he was writing something in his notepad instead of stealing glances at the two teenagers that sat at the furthest table. If it was any other day, Luke would be hitting Jess with the tea towel that hang over his shoulder and tell him to get back to work, but even Luke didn’t feel like he has the power to even go over there after seeing how happy his nephew is.
Jess had already been here for two weeks now, but Y/n wasn’t around when he arrived, she was off in a different city with a friend, and the two had only met the other day when Jess started his shift for the day, not noticing that there was a third Gilmore until she got up and begged him for another coffee; it was her sixth cup.
Luke told Jess that she’s going to drop down dead if she has another coffee and if by some form of miracle – if by magic – Jess convinced the youngest Gilmore to have a different drink instead. Luke didn’t know how it happened, but he noticed an unfamiliar soft smile on his nephews face as he looked at Y/n.
They talked throughout his shift, and then they both disappeared afterwards, apparently they sat on the bridge and just talked.
That’s what Miss Patty saw.
Everyone didn’t think it was possible for the troubled teen to speak so many words or even be able to express a single smile but seeing him with the Y/n once again today, smiling and laughing, they believed anything was possible.
“They’re both happy,” Rory whispers as she carefully looks over her shoulder. “Did you ever think it was possible for two people to be this happy?”
Her mother shook her head as she too watched her daughter with the boy she wasn’t totally happy with, but even she wasn’t going to ruin this as she too has never seen such a huge grin on Y/n’s face either.
“Perhaps,” Lorelai lifts her coffee to her lips, taking a sip, “perhaps Jess isn’t the worst.” She says as her eyes didn’t leave her laughing daughter’s face.
Even Jess didn’t think this was possible, usually other people’s happiness made him feel sick, but here he was with a stupid grin plastered across his face and a comforting feeling bubbled in his stomach as he admires the smile on her lightly pinkish lips.
Jess had never felt so safe before but being here with her as she tosses her head back, laughing, made Jess feel like the safest man on this planet. Jess never thought he was this funny, but here she was laughing at some follow-up joke he made to one of hers, but Jess also thought no human could possibly have this good of a humour, but just like everything else she’s proving him very wrong.
She was practically shimmering in front of him, glistening like a thousand little fairy lights as she lights up every bit of darkness within him.
Jess never thought he had any of these good sides before, not until meeting her. He didn’t think he could ever feel this happy, but she was showing him a sight of himself that he has never seen before.
“You know,” Jess states as their laughter dies down, “you’re kind of like a mirror.”
Y/n has heard this term before from other people. Most would relate her to a mirror as she would reflect back emotions, body languages, tones of a person’s voice, and has even mimicked personalities before.
She decided this wasn’t a good thing.
“Oh,” she purses her lips in thought. “I just,” she lets out a small sigh, “I guess I have this thing where I copy the energy of my environment.” She was nervous now, picking at her the broken strings of wool of her sweater.
Jess was beginning to get nervous too at the sight of her, in fact he was a bit scared that he just ruined a good thing going – I ruin a lot of things, he thought, and I just had to go and ruin this.
Jess imagined this was her shattering moment after being happy for so long, he knew it was too good to be true for someone to remain that happy, and Jess quickly understood maybe this ‘mirror act’ was a façade to cover up all the pain she may have gathered throughout her life, and the only why she can be happy is whilst she’s making other people happy.
She wasn’t able to reflect the energy within the diner any longer, nor was she able to mimic Jess’ emotions, instead he was mimicking hers, he was feeling every emotion she was feeling in this exact moment, and Jess didn’t like feeling this way if it was the same way she felt.
He wanted her to be happy.
Jess took a quick look around the diner, everyone was happy, they weren’t like the two frightened teens on this table.
Jess watched as Y/n let out another sigh before offering him a smile. Was that it? He thought. Was that the small amount of suffering she allowed people to see? That scared Jess even more as the thought of her suffering in a much greater deal behind doors without anyone to bring her back to the surface… that scared Jess to think that a happy person like Y/n could suffer so much.
The smile he gave him was forced though, Jess knew that for sure, it was a strained and tired smile. Like all of her social butterfly has simply just died right there and then. That she would much rather be alone right now than surrounded by the many people in this diner.
“Do you wanna go somewhere else?” Jess offered and Y/n was quick to shake her head.
“I’m good,” she taps her fingers anxiously on the table, but quickly puts a stop to it when she notices Jess’ eyes lingering on her movements.
“We can go back to the lake?” He offered again but just like the last offer she shook her head; again.
“I’m good,” she reassures, but her smile still doesn’t meet her eyes.
“Okay,” he whispers as he stretches his arm to rest at the back of her chair, he learns forwards, closer to her like was about to tell her a secret and didn’t want anyone else to hear, and if he was being honest he was and he knew what this town was like. “But you don’t have to act around me.”
“What if that’s all I know?”
“Then we’ll just have to learn together on how to be better,” Jess simply says, “and you’re the only person I like in this town, maybe even in the entire world.”
“Maybe?” She teased and her smile finally reached her eyes.
Jess smiles, a real, genuine smile, “I know you’re my favourite person.” Very carefully, very hesitantly Y/n rested her head against Jess’ shoulder. “Ever.” And he softly rested his head on top of hers and he watched as his fingers itched towards hers, and very slowly he allowed his fingers to brush against hers on the table, before laying his hand on top of hers before sliding his fingers in-between hers.
They smile at the shared contact between each other.
“I’m pretty certain you’re my favourite person too,” whispers Y/n and a small blush went across Jess’ cheeks, and he thought no one would be able to see it at there were all in their own conversations, but his uncle noticed, and the corner of his lips tugged up at the idea that his nephew was happy.
“I think I’m pretty stupid sometimes,” confesses Y/n quietly, “I think I try too much, try to make everyone see me and see happiness. I try to make everyone happy around me whilst I would much rather be at home crying.” Y/n stares at their hands and hums softly when she feels Jess squeezing her hand, letting her know it’s okay to talk to him, he wasn’t going to judge her.
“I just want people to look at me and see happiness,” her voice cracks, “but it’s tiring pretending all the time.”
“I know,” Jess says, “we don’t got to pretend around each other though, I got you now, and I just want you to be okay.”
“What if I can’t actually be okay?”
“You will,” he says, and he knows it as he never felt okay until he was put in her presence. “You just got to give yourself time.”
“But I want to make people happy.”
“You still can, you just got to make sure your making yourself actually happy too.”
It was quiet between the pair as she took in his words.
“I think you read too much,” she giggles, and Jess softly shakes his head as a quiet chuckle left his lips.
“You think?” He feels her nod. “Maybe you should try reading more.”
“Okay,” with her other hand she moves to make it fiddle with the hem of his long-sleeved shirt. “Do you think we can go somewhere else?”
Jess squeezes her hand once more, “we can go wherever you want to go.”

dating tristan dugray had a myriad of perks. one of them was the privilege of spending time in his, frankly unbelievable, house.
his living room rug was warm under you, the velvety white strands tickling the exposed pieces of skin around your ankles. both of you were decked out in one of tristan’s hoodies and a pair of his pyjama pants, sitting as close as possible to one another without you being in his lap. his arm lay lazily behind you, permitting you access to rest your head on his shoulder.
taking advantage of his parents’ friday date nights, your boyfriend had invited you over for the evening for a night of quiet and relaxation after the stress of a week at chilton. whilst others may have favoured a large, raucous gathering when blessed with a free home, you were glad tristan had settled on a calm night in.
the log fire crackled and spat, flames engulfing the wood and casting a golden radiance across the room. the warmth was like a familiar friend, wrapping you in a hug that could send you to sleep if your heart wasn’t pounding at tristan’s proximity.
his eyes were locked onto your side profile, slowly tracing every curve and line, committing every inch of your face to memory as though it was the last time he would see you. tristan couldn’t believe that you were real. it was though you were carved from marble by the most experienced sculptor, your beauty incomparable to anyone else.
you looked away from the fire and turned your attention to tristan. even upon being caught, his stare never wavered. the only indication that he had noticed you was the small smirk that tugged at his lips.
“you’re staring."
“is that a problem?” he responded, gaze flitting from your lips to your eyes.
“not at all,” you smiled, your hand moving to trace his jaw with a featherlight touch.
“i thought so,” he hummed, leaning into your touch. his fingers grazed yours, so gentle that, if not for the warmth of his skin, you wouldn’t have noticed. “someone as pretty as you deserves to be stared at. would be rude to let that beauty go to waste.”
“shut up,” you laughed, cheeks growing warm at his words. "i didn't realise you were so cheesy."
he shrugged, inching closer to you. his breath fanned your face, suddenly making you aware of the little space separating your lips.
"don't act like you don't love it."
any smart remark you could have produced died on your tongue as his lips touched yours, gentle at first, before delving into something more passionate and deep.
as his arms snaked around your waist, your skin was burning under his touch. it seemed that his kiss provided more warmth than a log fire ever could.
