Okay, let's see how did I do that again? :'D I generally hate doing backgrounds because I'm lazy and uncreative so it's no witchcraft but this is the gist of it:

(I'm working with Gimp2 btw)

These were my background layers just underneath the coloring and the lineart. Don't mind the random layer numbers.

The first red one (Réteg #1) was at 85,7% opacity. (I just lowered it a bit to my liking). This made the letters underneath seem slightly faded out. The second was my text layer (at 100% opacity), with this typeset and this size, colored white:

The third layer (Réteg #7) was again at 100% opacity. Same red color as the first layer. The fourth layer (Réteg #3) again at 100% opacity, and just a simple gray color.

I made the red layers with this tool, and these settings:

So basically a uh gradient tool? With the gradient set to go from "foreground into transparent", in normal mode and 100% opacity. (not the same thing as the layer opacity!) I haven't changed anything else from the base settings.
