Live Action Mitsuba-hen Episodes 2 and 3
Found the Chinese subbed version of the live action Mitsuba-hen eps 2 and 3! Here’s the 2nd episode: CLICKY. Episode 3 follows right after. Episode 1 was posted all over the place earlier so that’s why I’m not including it.
And I know Chinese subs are probably not helpful to a lot of people but hey, at least you get to see the rest of the eps! Plus, as a Gintama fan, you should KNOW what’s going on in the Mitsuba arc by now.
Even with the lovely GinHiji moment, I gotta say my favorites from the live action so far are Ryo Yoshizawa’s Sougo and also, surprisingly, Yamazaki, whom I cannot find listed anywhere so I don’t even know the name of the actor who plays him. Is that a joke? Poor guy doesn’t even get a credit? Cuz he’s so spot on and hilarious. Watching these episodes just makes me want to see the movie even more. I think I’m just going to buy the Japanese bluray when they release it even though it won’t have subs (and it’ll be expensive as F) cuz who knows when we’ll get to see here in the US. Plus, Gintama deserves all my money so that’s the least I could do to support it.

Mizuki Yamamoto Portrays Galaxy Express 999 Heroine Maetel in New Gintama Web Drama
The official Twitter for Gintama 2 - Yo nimo Kimyouna Gintama-chan (The Strange and Unusual Gintama-chan), the second original web drama based on Hideaki Sorachi's action comedy manga series, announced today that 26-year-old actress Mizuki Yamamoto appears as Maetel, the main heroine of Leiji Yamamoto's long-running space adventure manga Galaxy Express 999, with her visuals of the character.
This is the second time for Yamamoto to play the iconic heroine character. In 2014, she portrayed the main heroine Tonko Morinaga in the live-action TV drama adaptation of Kazuhiko Shimamoto's semi-autobiographical manga Aoi Honoo, also directed by the Gintama live-action series' Yuichi Fukuda, and portrayed Maetel for the drama. She is probably the only Japanese actress who is cast as the character twice.
Yamamoto says, "I am so glad to join the happy Fukuda team again. I geeked out over Gintama in my
junior high school days, I never imagined that such a day would come. I really want to tell myself at the
time about this!"

News is out that actress & model Kie Kitano has been picked to play the role of Mitsuba Okita in the upcoming Gintama live action web drama special, which stars the same cast of the soon to be screened film (out 14/07)
The three epsidoe special, called 'Mitsuba Hen' (or Mitsuba Arc), is an adaptation of the same tale that took place in the manga (Ch.129 - 132), which follows Mitsuba as she comes to the city of Edo to marry her husband-to-be Kuraba Touma, who is secretly using her and and her younger brother Sougo as pawns in order to 'buy over' the Shinsengumi so as to allow his own illicit arms trade with extremists to come to pass
The special will stream on NTT DoCoMo's online video streaming service dTV on July 15, one day after the release of the live action film

Masami Nagasawa as Tae Shimura, a physically strong girl and sister of Shinpachi
Tsuyoshi Muro as Gengai Hiraga, the proprietor of Karakuri-do
Jiro Sato as Henpeita Takechi
Nanao as Matako Kijima

Ryo Yoshizawa as Sougo Okita, a sharp-tounged Shinsengumi member
In addition, Kouichi Yamadera will voice the character Shoyo Yoshida in the film. Yamadera also voiced the character in the anime.
The film is also inspiring a live-action net show that will debut on Docomo’s dTV streaming service on July 15, one day after the film’s opening in Japan. The show will feature the same cast and staff as the film, and will adapt the original manga’s “Mitsuba Arc.” Kii Kitano will play Mitsuba.
UVERworld (Blue Exorcist, The Heroic Legend of Arslan) is performing the film’s theme song “DECIDED.”
Sorachi began the manga in 2004 and it continues to be ranked among the top-selling manga in Japan. The manga has more than 50 million copies in print in Japan. Viz Media published the first 23 volumes in English. Shueisha published the manga’s 68th volume in Japan on April 4. The manga entered its final arc last July.
The manga inspired a television anime that premiered in 2006 and continued (with several extended hiatuses) until 2013. The fifth and latest Gintama television anime series premiered on January 8, the show began airing reruns in April. Crunchyroll streamed the most recent series as it aired in Japan, and is also streaming English-dubbed episodes. The television anime’s official website is listing that the anime will return in October on Tokyo TV with a “Porori Arc.”
The manga also inspired two anime films, including the “final” Gekijoban Gintama Kanketsu-hen: Yorozuya yo Eien Nare film that opened in 2013, and various OVAs and event anime.

As a Gintama fan, I feel so blessed right now...
I mean, the manga is still ongoing, the new season just started, and the new live action movie...not only is it about the Shinsengumi Crisis arc, which I’ve PRAYED for since...well, since the first movie (Evidence: HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE)...but we are also getting the Host Club mini-arc (aka, Shogun Reception arc, though, sadly, minus Kyuu-chan and Toujou, unless we get last minute additional casting announcements). I love the trailer for the new movie so much...I can’t believe they’re showing us the whole train sequence in bright daylight so we can see everything this time. Itou, Bansai, Sacchan, Madao, Matsudaira, Otose, and ShigeShige look so good, and I am so unbelievably grateful they found a way to incorporate Zura and Elizabeth into the arc as well. Seriously, BLESSED. I am more happy than my lowly words can adequately expressed. Thank you, Gintama gods. Thank you, Sorachi-sama. Thank you, dear Fukuda-san and all the wonderful cast members of the live action. I hope we get a US theatrical release but even if we don’t, I am prepared to buy the movie already. And although this is grossly premature considering the second movie isn’t even out yet, I hope it does well enough again to warrant a third movie, and this time, please let it cover the Yagyuu Arc. Starting those prayers right now.
Glorious daytime!!
PERFECT Tosshi.
I am going to try very hard not to piss myself in excitement as I watch Okita’s entire train sequence.
This cuteness...I hope they further expand the small OkiKagu moment in the arc and also make my GinHiji cup runneth over.
Itou is wayyy too good looking for his character. Lol. NOT complaining about that at all though.
Every time I see how good Bansai looks (and how tall), I just feel sad that the Takasugi he’s paired up with falls short (pun intended).
Btw, poor Yamazaki...he didn’t get to be a part of the first movie (even though he was great in the Mitsuba-hen), and I see that they totally omitted him from this trailer as well, despite his pretty prominent role in the arc. Poor low-ranking Jimmy can never catch a break.
But overall, beyond excited for this movie! Fukuda-san gets what the fans want, so I have faith it will be as awesome as the preview looks. CAN’T FUCKING WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE!!!!
