When your eyes widen and jaw drops, it clicks in Giovanni’s head what you’re thinking.  “Agh– Wait!  I meant like… just a quick one on the lips, y’know?  Like… y’ever kissed a friend, just ‘cause?”

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Trixie nearly went to join the ghosts when they found out their cousin has a partner. Like that just doesn’t compute in their head.  Later, they pull you aside and asks you if you’ve been tricked, if it’s just so people think Giovanni has game, basically confirming with you that you and Giovanni are a thing. Passed away peacefully when you say it’s all true.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Moxie is also a protective one.  Makes a beeline to you when you’re alone and starts interrogating.

“Whaddya want with Giovanni!?”  The girl hisses with crossed arms.  You don’t know what you did to set her off…  “Ya better not hurt him!  Dude’s sensitive!” You shake your head, put off by her aggression.  “I don’t want to hurt him!  Promise!” Moxie squints, and does the ‘I’m watching you’ action before turning on her heel and rejoining the group.  You heave a sigh of relief.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 You’d ask about Moxie later to Giovanni, and to your surprise, he seems to dance around the topic.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 It’s only later in your relationship does he admit to you this is his first time dating someone for real.  He relays a story that he got asked out to a high school dance just as a joke, and got ditched.  Moxie was the one to spend the night with him in their stuffy suit and dress their parents forced them into at some local gas station.  That’s why she’s so protective. 

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 He tells you that it’s probably the first time that he wondered if something is wrong with him, if he’s too focused on being his most authentic self that people just don’t like it – like him. 

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Promise the guy that you love him for who he is.  He’ll be devoted to you indelibly from then on.

“Y-Yo,” Giovanni nervously laughs as you embrace him gently after his story.  You hear him sniff, as if trying his hardest to look cool and unaffected by the past event.  “I’m over it now, y’know?  It’s been years.” You pull him closer to you and pet his hair, Giovanni almost melts.  “No.  No one should treat my favourite boy like that.” Giovanni honestly believes he fell in love all over again.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 It’s after that point that Giovanni truly feels like he’s loved, and you’re not just taking pity on him by being with him.  He knows you love him, and he knows he loves you too.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 ENOUGH RELATIONSHIP PROGRESSION LET’S GET INTO THE GOOD STUFF

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 You and him are basically Molly’s surrogate parents.  Don’t be surprised if she accidentally refers to you with a parental title.  She’ll be mortified, but laugh it off and pet her head and she breathes a sigh of relief.

My verdict on Lorelai:

I'm glad that whatever growth she may go through, Molly won't be suffering when she inevitably backtracks along the way. It'd be nice to see the two mend their relationship but it is definitely for the better that they've been separated.

I wanna see Lorelai struggle and grow but she shouldn't get anymore opportunities to hurt Molly, much less for the sake of her learning a lesson. So it's better this way imo

And now that Molly isn't there, Lorelai's gonna have to run the shop and learn her lesson through CUSTOMER SERVICE joining zuko and others in the redemption arc trend of becoming redeemed by dealing with bitchy people

I very much don't mind rotating Lorelai in my brain a lil more cuz I don't hate her. I want to bunt her across the room when she hurts Molly ofc, I will not retract my statements, but I hate HER FATHER more than her

Cuz her father has no excuse to be the way he is. I'll get back to Lorelai in a moment cause she is definitely NOT faultless, but HIM?? He enabled all of this. He never checked in with his daughters and was always so inconsiderate of them. AND HES A GROWN MAN! It's telling that Giovanni goes off on him more than he does Lorelai cause in the end, he did nothing.

Back to Lorelai, she feels like a very intentionally immature character. Immature and selfish in a way that contrasts with Molly when Molly is the actual kid. I mean, Lorelai is 17 and all but by that age you can fairly expect someone to grasp not leaving your 12 yr old sibling to suffer under responsibilities your supposed to share.

And Lorelai being immature I think is added to by her fear that she's the reason her mother died. And the grief in all that. I think it's a good enough reason to feel sympathetic for how she's spiraled into this unhealthy coping mechanism and separates her from her father when it comes to being a rotten person.

By the end of the book it still felt like she hadn't grasped WHY what she did was bad to me and I'm kinda hoping that was an intentional writing decision. The book shows how she doesn't grasp some things like what makes someone a genuinely horrible person and so for her to still not quite see how what she did was bad, feels fitting.

By the end of seemed to me like, she KNEW what she did wasnt okay because Giovanni told her off and she was confronted with the truth that, she wasn't the good guy. Yet knowing that didn't make her understand what her actions specifically caused. Despite. Molly telling her.

I want to look up shenanigans between Molly and Giovanni in fics but I also kinda want to see Naven and Lorelai's relationship with the steps she'll make to become a better person

So def a ways away from growing significantly but I like that Naven has stuck around offering his help should she accept it. I mean Giovanni did that too but Naven's role in her story hits HARD

Speaking of relationships, idk about Giovanni x Lorelai

I mean I still think it could be cute, Lorelai's crushing scenes are hilarious as much as they are sad and envoke feelings of "I just want good things for Lorelai". I def don't think she deserves him rn but I do think that, since Giovanni hasn't shut down her becoming his minion in THE FUTUREE, when she learns to be good at being bad, she has a shot.

Though, it's still a little lost on me if Giovanni has figured out she has been crushing on him HARD. Like, he picked up on her cheating and bullying but did he pick up on any of the signs for her affection?? Makes me think she's gonna have a hard time in the friendzone if she became a minion. Not sure what Giovanni with a crush would look like either tho so.

I have a bit of a hard time seeing Giovanni crushing on her but I still think their dynamic is cute enough! Just dragged down by how awful she's been to everyone and HIS NUMBER 1 MINIONNN

but the more I think about it, I think it'd be great to see them as just friends. Like, getting on the level of best buds and Lorelai loses her crush on him. Both still maintaining the dynamic they had in that last fight with all the bantering cuz they are pretty similar

If they ever became romantic though. Like. Molly and Lorelai's relationship NEEDS to be healed and I think healed for a WHILE. I just can't see it working out otherwise. This would probably need to ring true if they were to become best friends too but EVEN MORE SO if they got mushy (as in the failed baking trials that would compromise 40% of the time they would hang out. Love language quality time)

Ngl I already got my own angsty ideas for Lorelai because self hatred + not wanting to be the bad guy is such a delicious combination of traits that contradict each other yet still exist never the less

I wonder how Lorelai reacted the morning she realized Molly was gone and gone for good. I'm betting she at first believed she'd be hanging out with her friends and would be back. Then a day passes. Then another. And another. She asks her father if he's seen Molly and is reminded he doesn't care. I wonder if she confronted Naven about where Molly was, if she'd at first lash out when he doesn't tell her, and that reminds her why this happened.

She probably couldn't wallow in self pity for very long since she'd be working now, but still vry interesting how it'll play out

In this concept I imagine her being a transoman who uses She/They, one Notable thing about her designs is the weird cognitive dissonance within her design being very layer heavy vs the fact that apparently being bumped into can literally break her bones?? Like, would heavy clothing like, also hurt her?? So I simplified it down based on the generalized idea that her Epithet vaguely functions like Fibromyalgia, I also wanted to make her eyes feel freaky.. gio calls her eyes weird but then they look... so normal. Also gave her melanin I like to imagine because she's from yknow.. island's... and she's meant to be tagalo.. Filipino even... she should have melanin but whatever!!!

Also made her purple... they look good in purple.

I think Jello is personally a coward, seeing him give out about the giovanni trans man headcanon because he's "feminine" feels weird because he's... GEUEINELY not that feminine to me. So scream it Bigender Giovanni!! Any Pronouns and he's intersex!!! PCOS for you!! Lorelai invents new neopronouns for him!!! I also made him full ocean race because the concept of ocean race people being discriminated against and their weird description makes me go 🤨. (Also as a note for these redesigns, I don't imagine the entire Roughhouse lineage being ocean race simply because I personally do not feel comfortable making the rougehouse lineage, who are crime based, purely black, for current times, its only Rex, Trixie and Giovanni!!)

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Whenever Giovanni has a suggestion or a piece of information he found that he wants to present, he phrases it as a question to you because you’re the one who knows most about your health and he doesn’t want to Mansplain(™). In fact, mansplaining is strictly prohibited in the Vincent Murder Bad Guy Rulez, so that sort of stuff won’t stand.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Of course, all the boys follow these rules, too! If anyone is unaware of your needs they will get a very enthusiastic interruption by Giovanni while he insists they let you explain. Yeah, he always lets you explain yourself first. It’s amazing.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 You will be accommodated anywhere, anytime. Feeling faint during a walk? He’ll find the nearest place to sit. Hell, he’ll sit down and let you rest on his knee or something. Real villains know how to protect their minions at a moment’s notice.

“Hold on.” You grabbed Giovanni’s jacket sleeve to support yourself, instantly catching the tall male’s attention.

“Woah, you good?” You answered by leaning on him even further, feeling your legs fail you at the most inopportune of times. “Here, let’s sit down a minute.”

Slowly, he would sit down on the closest available bench, guiding you as to not have you collapse. The second you were safely seated, you felt him pull away from you. At first, this confused you, but your curiosity was resolved when you felt a jacket drape over your shoulders.

“There. Can’t have any of my minions freezing to death, after all!”

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 One of Giovanni’s love languages is food, so if you let him, he will give you homemade soup when you’re feeling under the weather. He understands you don’t have a cold or anything — it’s just a gesture he does to let you know you’re always on his mind.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 If you can’t attend a Cool Crime Event(™) because you’re feeling under the weather, Giovanni will have you on speaker on his phone the entire time so you can still chat and engage with the Boys.

“Ben said he stole a bag of chips in your honor today. We can drop it off later!”

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Accessible crime is VERY important to Giovanni. Villainy is an art and should be able to be practiced by anyone and everyone! This results in him getting more and more creative with his antics to include you if needed. Prank calling from Crusher’s treehouse is always a classic, and pirating a movie is one of the best crimes of all! Fun for the whole evil family!

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 You and Molly can be tired together. Once, when Giovanni had invited you both over, he found you two asleep together in front of the TV. He sent a million pictures to everybody he knows.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 There is also time that Giovanni makes sure to reserve specifically for you. Being included in a group is important, but so is one on one attention! These hangouts are highly customizable to whatever your tastes are and whatever your energy levels are for the day. Even on days that you may insist you’re cranky, tired or not great to be around, he’ll still be there for you if you let him!

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 And if you need time to yourself, no matter what the reason is, then he’ll make sure to always have a new fun surprise planned for when you’re ready to wreak havoc again.

I could not fathom how much of an emotional journey Prison of Plastic would be. So much of it shows the endless loop that Molly’s in, but I seriously expected it to just continue. Because that’s how Molly’s life is, just the same thing, imagining her out of it seems impossible. The best excerpt of the book tells you as much;

“But even her friends, with their infinite money and kindness, told her that they could not. It was against the law to separate her from her father without his consent or due cause. The man from the child protection agency refused to save her. Her father refused to raise her. Her sister refused to help. They were useless. All of them frozen with incompetence or stuck behind walls of tinker-toy bureaucracy.”

It later mentions the wrecking ball, which one can attribute to Giovanni, but even he can’t do that, you think. The book gets Giovanni out of the action for most of it. He’s busy judging cookie baking, so while yes, he loves and wants to save Bear Trap, but can’t. Naven and Phoenica couldn’t, how would he?

Until he just. Does.

It’s so sudden because that’s the most Giovanni Potage thing to do. He doesn’t care about anything else in that moment, he just takes Molly and runs. To be frank, it was probably Giovanni’s plan the whole time, since he knew she wasn’t in a good situation, but that conversation with Martin (curse his heart) was enough to leave him infuriated. And when he finally heard that she hadn’t gotten proper sleep and hadn’t eaten anything, he decided to push his plan forward. That’s what he does. His minions mean everything to him. Giovanni isn’t the most capable, he’s just a weird guy with soup powers. He’s at first seemingly reckless and stupid, but his emotional intelligence and dedication to help everyone around him who he doesn’t have a reason to be against is so amazing. He is the one thing that can prove Molly’s view of the world wrong. He cares enough to say “fuck that” to every stupid structure that everyone else is stuck in.

And when, in the end, Molly got to just be a kid, it warmed my heart. Halfway through that scene I was whisper-shouting “WE WIN THESE” like I’d just watched my favourite sportsball team make the greatest win of the century. Because it was.

Molly being happy, able to get away from work, to be the 12 year old that she is, is so amazing. I expected she would just have some quick easy-bake solution to fix her relationship with Lorelai. She didn’t have to forgive her sister. Naven and Giovanni stepped up and, while being honest that she isn’t good to Molly, gave her a chance to fix her ways. Slowly. Because it wouldn’t fix itself fast. It had to wait, because it would take time.

Molly got to rest. Her friends got a chance to take the opportunity to do something for her.

This story, this resolution, means so much to me.
