I won't forget again.#They are evil dumbass 4 evil dumbass and I think we are all missing out on the sheer potential of the comedy between these two.#They have way too much power and are using it for the wrong reasons - which makes them truly great villains.#And when things don't go their way they become piles of whining sludge.#Wang Lingjiao is forever fascinating to me even though we only get crumbs about her.#She's a servant girl who's greatest asset is her beauty and her attractiveness.#Meaning she's had a life being in the gaze of people with significant positions of power over her.#I can't help but read her childishness and petty tantrums as someone who has finally been given the chance to not feel powerless.#If she was a more virtuous type we might 'like' her more but honestly...I don't think she would have survived to this point.#WLJ has only known power hierarchies her whole life. Probably accused of seduction before she even understood what that meant.#I love contrasting her with mianmian because they have similar(ish) backgrounds but different approaches to moving forwards #But WLJ's story is about flying too close to the sun and mianmian's is about going too close to the water.#Like the sea mist dragging her down into complacency - all the sect powerplays are mandatory to 'go along with' if she wants to climb-#-the social ladder. Yet she is the cautionary tale (and a foil to JGY as well) she leaves before sacrificing her own morals.#Mianmian flies away with her wings only slightly plucked while those who sacrificed everything to reach for the top crash and burn.

Yes everyone loves Steve being an absolute sweetheart and him being the kindest soul, but if there’s a chance that Eddie can piss him off just to bring out that bitchiness in him then he will. For some reason it’s so hot to Eddie when he hears Steve saying “fuck you” or “fuck off” when he’s angry. Eddie knows it’s very rare to see that side of Steve but it’s definitely worth his while when he does.

Also as a fandom I don’t think we talk enough about Steve being snappy and mean, it’s probably the hottest thing I’ve ever seen on television. That’s just my opinion though 😗

With the tentative and rough translations out, i have to say, yeah, Hori really doesn't get what he's actually writing and if he was trying to make Toga's entire deal a metaphor for queerness, he's ended up being quite offensive.

Like first off it seems he has Toga say she falls in love easily with boy and girls and...animals. Which, I always felt the bird thing as a kid could have negative connotations, but wrote it off as 'she was a little kid and this was before her desire for blood was wrapped up in her romantic feelings' type things. So having Hori reinstate that yes, she does still love animals to the point of blood drinking desire--a desire Hori coded as sexual/romantic is not a good look.

It also just makes me question if she could ever own a pet or if she'd end up killing it because she loved it to much and she needed to drink it's blood.

Also getting her perspective on the boy she attacked isn't great either. The translation is rough and basic so it could change, but I don't think there's any translation that could make the situation not read poorly.

In the rough translations she says something along the lines of "I didn't ask to drink his blood because I was afraid he'd hate me and think I was a decent monster."

I could see an alternative translation being "I asked for his blood and he called me a deviant monster, and I sucked his blood."

Again if Hori is trying to make a queer metaphor with Toga, this is a huge issue. Her attacking the boy was always a big problem, but if he didn't bring it up again I think a lot of casual readers would have forgotten it. But now it's front and center again and brings back bad connotations for Toga and a queer reading of her character.

Because again if we read her blood drinking as queerness, and Hori has already coded it in the past as lust while just last chapter confirming that Toga sees it as kissing in the very least we get two equally bad reads.

A) Due to fear of rejection Toga did not ask for consent and decided she'd just make sexual advances toward someone she had a crush regardless.

or B) She got rejected and told no, and then made the sexual advance anyway.

With a queer reading this only becomes worse because it pays into the really negative and even dangerous idea that same sex attracted people will go after anyone regardless of consent or the other persons orientation. It continues to perpetuate the idea that queer people are sexual predators, who target straight people or in the very least do not care about consent, or are unable to control themselves long enough to get it.

But even without a queer reading what Toga did is wrong. It sucks that people don't get her way of showing love, but consent is still needed regardless. You can't just do what you want to someone because you were to afraid to ask them out. You can't just do what you want with someone after they tell you no. Even if the boy had called her a monster that would not make it ok for Toga to, essentially sexually assault him (yes, kissing someone against their will is sexual assault, which is what Toga sees her blood drinking as).

And I think that's why Toga's character is really hard to get behind for some people--because at the end of the day she's literally just saying "I can't help but sexually assault people (and animals apparently)', and the solution to this is to give her exactly what she wants and apologize for not seeing how much pain she was in when she was actively trying to sexually assault people.

Any one who only reads the magazine wouldn't know he's trans)#it's also just hard to get behind because the way Hori draws and frames them it feels more that he does it because he thinks it's hot #like the way naked toga is hugging ochako with her legs spread is bad #I mean he could have drawn it with ochako in front to hide toga's body or have toga with her legs closed #or he could have not had Toga's power remove her clothes to begin with #it also doesn't help that we don't get much build up for these characters #like i don't believe either of these girls actually understand or genuinely care about each other #like there was an opening with Twices death for Ochako to start to care about Toga and feel genuinely bad for her #but instead she just kind of decided to care for toga and her smile because Hori said so #like she thinks of her during the speech #but wouldn't it have been better and made more sense if she saw dabi's vlog and heard Twice died and then she understands why Toga was sad #not just randomly think 'man i want that girl who tried to murder me with a smile to smile again'#it also would have helped wrap up the twices death better too

Scarlet and Violet, performance wise really lacking to the point where it's obvious there needs to be changes to how staff need to be treated better and given more time to work, are really some of the best games in the mainstream series I've ever played and I just really want to talk forever about how amazing it all is

#my switch is getting repaired for drift but man am i itching for it back #I was in the middle of the champion assessment too #but omg I really love the game and the writing and grgrgrgr #I want to bite sada/turo until they blow up #i want to hold arven nemona and penny for being such well written characters with their struggles and bonds together #i want to shake clavell's hand for being an older man in a very gen x/z environment trying to be hip but also wanting the acadamy to-#actually be safe and welcoming while taking accountability for how bullying was ignored and his own dismissal of team star #i want to cry because the teachers are so nice and understanding and actually educate their students while being open to help #and how miriam is an example of someone who tries so hard to achieve their dream for it to be just out of reach #and how the gym leaders have so much personality and how the e4 are so close-knitted together with a little girl in the middle of it all #how koraidon/miraidon thrive under the love the get from the protag and how they act just like giant dogs with the attention they want #and how they're considered low on the ladder in their species in terms of power and size but still have lots of pride and power #i wanna learn more about the crater grgrg #just really really love this game and i miss my lite neee come back to meeee #and yeah i've played from firered to now in terms of mainstream so yeah def i'm being serious #but for real the staff deserve more respect and time literally everyone can agree the game could've waited if it meant better treatment #I really appreciate the love that went into it despite the crunch but it's still shit about the obvious rush #like we know it's not the switch please lengthen the time for people to work on the games so both parties can actually enjoy things #but yeah #pokemon sv spoilers #rosebud posting 💐

my mom was kinda eh shrug about my cousins but she could call them when she needed help and they'd come. i'm kind of eh shrug about my cousins and i can call them when i need help and they will say they're not really sure what they can do about that but it'll probably work itself out and then talk about watching a dog i used to sleep with every night ***** *** while doing nothing and this will be how i find out he's died.

I've had lazy autumn just to jump in ITS THE SECOND WEEK OF THE YEAR YOU HAVE TO DO 186469 THINGS FOR WORK AND 789 THINGS FOR SCHOOL AND 4 THINGS FOR ENSURING A NICE WEEKEND TRIP AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

#how is your 2024 im suddently overwhelmed with tasks which makes me feel kind of powerful ngl #im like. barely managing everything. but im managing!#i have an exam on wednesday. i havent covered all the exam questions yet but its like. ethics. meh.#but i have to do my best. and its a bit much.#considering i will work until wee hours of the night tomorrow #okay technically im working until 9pm but i feel like ill be done at like 20pm. or maybe 20:30 #and i have so many events tomorrow.#there are new girls to help but they are. new girls. they have to be supervised and trained #and i start at 8 am tomorrow ;(#and the day after that #and on friday too #but on thursday i have to be at uni at 9am #to learn the last of methods i dont know abt yet #i dont think i can hold in any more information in my head but man i hope i will #also my cat has been acting weird. she gets into sleeping position and hisses. my hypothesis is that its bc of the spicy calamari that were #left in the open on the table for a long time and my mom saw how she ate a rather large bit #so i just hope shes suffering from spicy tummy and nothig more #moreover i just recruited two of my coworkers to do research with me #which lead to a problem: how am i supposed to draw blood three times in a span of 4 hours #obviously cathether would be the best option #however my supervisor told me that in previous experiments it kind of got crumpled after use #and it was more painful to insert a new cathether than to just puncture veins multiple times #but i think thats messed up. so i want to do a pvc #my solution was like aha maybe a butterfly needle - it wont crumple!#but then the guy was like girl it will only stay in if the participant is not moving.#and i was like yeah no prob but like nope actually. the participants have to eat and stand and i have to let them go to the bathroom #so im trying to find a middle ground here and maybe inserting a regular cannula but getting the blood with a regular syringe would do it #bc like syringe is slower than vacutainer and maybe it wont crumple the cathether #but like no one does it with a syringe #although i did find some articles abt using that method when patients have problems
