Imagine having deep discussions with the Whitebeard pirates
Tumblr media
Ace: Have you ever wondered why the world government opposes people so far away from them, doing what we do?
Marco: [mutters] I wish you would just stop saying odd shit.
Whitebeard: well we're breaking the law, obviously.
You: It's a little deeper than that. It's because what many pirates do, is the same thing the world government does.
Marco: We are not similar in any way.
You: no, think about it, what does the world government do? They lay out a bunch of rules and if you don't follow them, they use violence to force most of the world into following them. And if a nation elects not to join the world government, or can't afford to join, they raid and pillage those islands and take their citizens as slaves.
Izou: On the other hand, if a nation does join the world government, they have to pay heavenly tributes, because if they don't, the Marines will raid and pillage your country. But if they pay the heavenly tributes, the marines will protect their nation from outsiders, like pirates and non-world-government-nations.
Whitebeard: However, on top of paying the heavenly tribute, the average person also pays local and national taxes, so it's a heavy burden for some countries.
Marco: Oh my gods, it's like a protection racket, that common thugs run, just on a massive scale.
Whitebeard: and, like many pirates.
You: they don't like pirates, for the same reason they don't like common thugs, because you all are muscling in on their turf.
Thatch: so most governments are just organized, and socially acceptable, thuggery.
You: Not all, look at Alabasta for instance, King Cobra has a lot of social programs for his people. Food programs and affordable housing for the poor. Medical programs that put a doctor in every village and a bunch of other stuff. The people should receive something back from their government besides 'protection'.
Ace: I know a lot of nations that are in the world government have a large lower class that they exploit labor from and bleed them dry with taxes, tolls, and fines. I can never forget what I saw at the Grey Terminal out of the Goa Kingdom's Great Gate.
Thatch: That's because in "normal society" they value wealth, and look down on and take advantage of people who don't have it. Meanwhile, in pirate culture, we value strength and look down on and take advantage of those who are weaker, like how we raid other crew's ships because we can, and they can't stop us.
Izou: [sighs] That's an oversimplification If I ever heard one.
Thatch: [steps into Izou's space bubble.] You got something to say to me?
Izou: I've been to both world-government nations and non-world-government nations, and I can tell you that they value both strength and wealth. It's just different classes value one over the other. The upper and more privileged class values wealth, and daintiness because they can hire the strong. While the less privileged value strength, because it helps them survive, because they don't have money.
Thatch: I know that, did you forget I grew up poor as shit, mister little daimyo's vassal-boy.
Izou: And I was a wandering beggar minstrel before that, also keep Oden's name out of your mouth.
Thatch: how about you fucking make me?
Marco: [hops between the two men and dramatically claps his hands together like a clapperboard.] Aaand scene, that was a brilliant performance, gentlemen.
Ace: it was almost hard to tell that you two are actually friends.
Thatch: [huffs] Alright, I'll take it back, I'm sorry Izou.
Izou: I'm sorry too
You: you all are too fighty.
Ace: bitch, you're the most stab happy out of all of us.
You: I am not
Whitebeard: Just last night, you stabbed Vista's hand with a fork because he kept reaching over your plate.
You: ... I did do that, but only after asking him to stop three times. Which is more than reasonable, he's a grown-ass adult, and he, and his fuck ass mustache, should know basic table etiquette by now.
Ace: and then you stabbed me for no reason, with the same fork!
You: that was for good measure, just in case you got any ideas!

Hi! I was wondering if you could please share recommendations for books/essays to know about History of Maharashtra?
Hello, here you go:
Books
The Marathas, 1600-1818 by Stewart Gordon: one of the best books on the Maratha state, economy, and political formations; it's a slim book, should take you no time to read. Also see his Marathas, Marauders and State-formation in Eighteenth Century India, which is a wider regional/subcontinental look at them
Scripts of Power by Prachi Deshpande: this is really interesting; it's about the Devnagari script and how it became the script for Marathi; the transition from the two-script Marathi culture to that of a single script
The Rise and Fall of a Brown Water Navy by Anirudh Deshpande: about the Maratha navy and the general fight against piracy and for supremacy in the Arabian Sea
The Experience of Hinduism: Essays on Maharashtra, edited by Eleanor Zelliot and Maxine Bernstein: pretty much what it sounds like; it has some good essays on the caste configurations and politics in Maharashtra
I don't know if you read Marathi, but you should check out लोकमान्य ते महात्मा (2 vols), which is a huge immensely detail thing about the political history of Maharashtra between these two people
Essays
Letters Home: Banaras Pandits and the Maratha regions in early modern India, Rosalind O'Hanlon, which is about the religious interactions between the two places, and also in a sense about Varanasi in the early modern cultural imagination
Marathi: the language of warriors
Konkani vs Marathi in Goa
The Saffron Wave: The Eleventh General Elections in Maharashtra by Sikata Banerjee
Development of the Maharashtrian Class Structure, 1818 to 1931 by Gail Omvedt
I hope this helps!

Indian Election Results (Part 3)
Part 3 is here and I reallyyy hope it's the last one.
Independent candidates lead in Jammu & Kashmir with 3 individual seats, BJP in tow with 2. Congress remained on zero. Independent candidate wins the only seat in Ladakh.
BJP shocks in Himachal Pradesh by winning all 4 seats. Modi factor shines here because despite being in power in the Vidhaan Sabha, Congress remains on the zero mark. Personally, I believe that the credit to Kangana Ranaut's Mandi win is due to Modi Ji's campaign, because Kangana's speech during the campaigns are lack charisma.
Congress isn't able to bring it's phoenix rise in Uttarakhand, remaining on zero while BJP wins all 5 seats.
10 seats of Haryana are equally divided b/w BJP and Congress with both 5 seats each. Congress also wins the 1 seat of Chandigarh.
The 50-50 division is also seen in Goa, where both parties win 1 seat each.
INDIA sweeps Punjab with Congress winning 7 seats, AAP 3 and Akaali Dal 1. BJP loses 2 seats, falling on zero. Even if Congress leads here and it's been year since the incident, I'll forever be bitter that they let go of Amrinder Singh. He practically revived Congress in Punjab, highly experienced.
In Sikkim, Regional Party {Sikkim Krantikari Morcha} wins the 1 seat.
BJP leads with 9 seats in Assam, Congress getting 3 and Regional Party {Asom Gana Parishad} getting 1.
To no one's surprise, Congress with the 2 seats of Manipur. BJP remains on zero, rightfully so. No one is more right in voting against BJP than the Manipur public.
Both BJP and Congress remain on zero as Independent candidate wins 1 seat in Mizoram.
Congress wins the only seat of Nagaland.
BJP wins 2 seats of Tripura and 2 seats of Arunachal Pradesh, Congress remains on zero.
Independent candidate and Congress win 1 seat each in Meghalaya, BJP on the zero mark.
Congress wins the 1 seat of Lakshdweep, 1 seat of Pondicherry while BJP wins 1 seat of Andaman & Nicobar.
That's it I guess! I think I covered all the states in these 3 parts, but do tell if I forgot some.

Pio Gama Pinto (March 31, 1927 – February 24, 1965) was a Kenyan journalist, politician and freedom fighter. He was a socialist leader who dedicated his life to the liberation of the Kenyan people and became Kenya’s first martyr in 1965.
He was born in Nairobi to a Kenyan Asian family of Konkani Goan Catholic descent. His father was an official in the colonial government of Kenya while his mother was a housewife. At age eight, he was sent to India for his education and spent the next nine years there, passing his matriculation exams at St. Joseph’s High School, Arpora, and studying science at Karnatak College, Dharwar for two years before joining the Indian Air Force in 1944 as an apprentice ground engineer. He took up a job in the Posts and Telegraph office in Bombay, participated in a general strike, and became a founding member of the Goa National Congress. He started an agitation in Bombay against the Portuguese colonial occupation of Goa. His political activism soon made it necessary for him to return to Kenya to avoid being arrested and deported to the Tarrafal concentration camp in Cape Verde.
He became involved in local politics aimed at overthrowing British colonial rule in Kenya. He turned to journalism and worked with the Colonial Times and the Daily Chronicle. In 1954, five months after his marriage to Emma Dias, he was rounded up in the notorious Operation Anvil and spent the next four years in detention on Manda Island. He was kept in confinement from early 1958 until October 1959 at Kabarnet.
In 1960 he founded the Kenya African National Union newspaper Sauti Ya KANU, and later, Pan African Press, of which he subsequently became Director and Secretary. Pinto played an active role in campaigning for KANU during the 1961 elections which it won. In 1963 he was elected a Member of the Central Legislative Assembly and in July 1964 was appointed a Specially Elected Member of the House of Representatives. He worked to establish the Lumumba Institute in 1964 to train KANU party officials. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Waking from an uneasy rest a good while earlier than they usually would, Ace and Sabo rolled out of bed one after the other in a still-silent house, no muffled sound of Luffy's snores or clattering in the kitchen to be heard.
Ace looked to be doing better, but didn't say anything, choosing to use the few hand signals they'd all been working out together; Luffy didn't know sign and there hadn't been any books on the subject to come through the traders yet and heavens know that Goa is too good to admit that they have people with disabilities living amongst them, so they were using their own portions of language until he could get one for all three of them to use. If it made Ace teary-eyed that they were willing to learn something entirely new for when he went nonverbal, then that was for him to know and no one else to find out.
'Go out,' Ace motioned when he got Sabo's attention, an eyebrow shooting upwards to show it was a question.
The blond thought for a moment before nodding. "Yeah, might as well. Jus' don't forget your shoes." He said, purposely looking down at Ace's bare feet and getting a borderline-dramatic sigh in return, but he went to grab them anyway.
It didn't take long at all for them to leave the house to start the day by looking for Luffy; they didn't think anything could've happened to him, but it didn't stop the worry wiggling into the backs of their minds.
They decided that stopping by Dadan's would be a good choice since she was Makino's friend, though they never did figure out how it happened, and maybe Luffy had crashed there. They couldn't help but notice the mountain was still and silent, with not even the Kings lumbering about through the trees or the birds singing their morning songs. It was like when they walked into their empty house but worse.
When they got to the bandits' hut they were surprised to find Dadan already sitting out with her axe, which certainly didn't help their fears, but she just looked unnerved when she noticed them. "Hey, brats, did Garp come for a visit 'r somethin'?" She asked, voice rough and tired, as if she'd only gotten a few hours of sleep. At Ace's slow head shake, her expression soured even further. "That's jus' great."
It didn't seem like she was going to say anything past that, or at least not to them, so Sabo gently tugged Ace's sleeve to get moving again. He didn't like how she reacted and he didn't like how she jumped straight to Garp visiting. Ace looked to be feeling the same when he caught his gaze, but they just elected to keep moving.
Going to the top of the mountain was always a chore, but one they typically enjoyed; right then, though, they didn't have near enough sleep in them to properly enjoy it. Especially not with how dead the forest was.
When a thunderous crash broke the silence about half an hour into their trek, both boys jumped, despite it sounding to be a good distance away. They glanced at each other and nodded, lips flattening into straight lines as they took off in the direction it came from, hearing several more before they cut off. They could only hope they were going in the right direction after it went silent, but they were confident enough that they were continuing on a straight enough path that they'd find wherever it was coming from.
It felt as if they'd chased over half the island by the time they came across broken trees, and they slowed their pace and readied their pipes as they approached further. The destruction got worse the closer they got, with splintered trees and boulders having been reduced to rubble on either side of them, until finally they saw the edge of a clearing approach.
Slowly looking around one of the standing trees, both of them brought in sharp breaths as they saw just how much had been destroyed, and just what looked to have destroyed it.
Softly, anxiously, Sabo couldn't stop the words from falling from his lips.
"What... happened?"
-×-×-×-
The voice didn't fit the fishman standing in front of him, bandages covering his chest and seeming to glitch and reveal the true speaker. Luffy shut his eyes and rubbed them roughly with the heels of his hands, willing the image away, willing whatever this was to stop haunting him. To stop telling him of a life he hadn't lived.
Uncovering his eyes and letting the pressure spots clear out, he looked back to see Sabo and Ace standing at the edge of the clearing, both looking more shocked than anything. He couldn't stop himself from cringing at them finding him like this - he was supposed to be the cool uncle, not the batshit feral uncle. He wasn't supposed to take after his father.
Sitting up and groaning as he did so, he could already feel the aches building up in his muscles and joints from overdoing it after underdoing it for so long. "Uh... Oops?" He said oh-so-gracefully as his boys finally started rushing over, neither seeming to know how to react.
They just stared between each other for a few moments, until -
"Ace punched Shanks in the balls and he flipped us off for it." Sabo blurted out, and while it wasn't anything close to what he was expecting, he could only let his expression melt into one of fond exasperation. Of course, leave the boys unsupervised and they'd go and try to take out their other uncle.
Ace glared at Sabo and shoved his shoulder roughly, but just huffed and crossed his arms with an almost smug look. "At least you had an excitin' evening?" Luffy asked, trying to ignore the discomfort at being found in the state he was in.
Sabo gave an only somewhat hesitant nod while Ace just shrugged. It was probably the wrong question to ask, considering that the momentary relief was gone and they seemed fully aware of where they were again. "So..." Sabo spoke up after an awkward length of silence and gestured to the broken nature around them. "Did you..?"
Letting his expression fall, Luffy gave a halfhearted shrug. "I mean, I got a li'l upset an' this is where Garp would always take his frustrations out, so I kinda beelined it here." He kept his eyes trained on his beaten up hands, not wanting to see his boys' expressions. "It wasn't even somethin' I shoulda got upset about, neither, so. Over-re-acted." He pronounced the word slowly and in portions, and while some have laughed at him for being a grown adult and still having trouble with longer words, the boys never did.
He didn't receive a verbal response, and he was afraid that they were - he didn't know. Scared? Nervous?
And then a very familiar pipe whacked him over the head.
It wasn't at full strength, but it certainly would have hurt a normal human, and his eyes shot up to see a huffy Ace with his pipe in his hands and his foot tapping while Sabo looked more awestruck than anything. 'Go home, now, sleep,' Ace motioned with one hand, adding in a middle finger for good measure and Luffy gave him a lopsided smile.
Sabo looked between Ace and Luffy, fidgeting with his hands, and Luffy turned his attention to him, nodding in silent permission to voice whatever he was thinking. "Can - can you teach us how to break boulders?" He asked in a voice as close to shy as his ever would.
Luffy wanted to say no, but the hope in his eyes and the threats brewing in Ace's forced his hand. "I don't see why not, but you two're gonna have to get a bit older before I'm comfy workin' with you that rough." He conceded, slowly pushing himself to his feet and brushing his pants off. He had to give a puff of laughter when he noticed that he was the only one of the three without shoes, though.
"Alright, let's go home and get you two some real rest."

CBI Accuses Kejriwal and AAP of Criminal Conspiracy in Excise Policy Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a supplementary charge sheet accusing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his party, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), of a criminal conspiracy to privatise the 2021 Delhi Excise Policy for financial gains. The CBI claims that the policy was specifically designed to benefit select liquor businesses in exchange for kickbacks, which were allegedly used to fund AAP’s campaign in the 2022 Goa Assembly elections.
The investigation highlights that Vijay Nair, AAP’s media and communications head, played a pivotal role in the conspiracy. According to the CBI, Nair, without any formal authority to negotiate on excise matters, solicited bribes from liquor business owners under Kejriwal’s direct instructions. These businesses were promised favourable terms under the excise policy in return for their financial contributions. The CBI alleges that these funds were funnelled into AAP’s election expenditures and used to pay for campaign-related activities, including hiring vendors and campaign managers.
Durgesh Pathak, a senior AAP leader, is also named in the charge sheet for managing these funds. The CBI claims that Pathak oversaw the transfer of bribe money through hawala channels, which allowed large sums to be distributed without leaving a clear financial trail. The charge sheet points out that these cash payments were deliberately omitted from AAP’s official election expense reports, raising concerns about the party's financial transparency.
Several other high-profile AAP leaders, including former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, have been implicated. Sisodia, who oversaw the excise department at the time, was previously arrested in connection with the case but has since been released on bail. Kejriwal, who has denied all allegations, has been in custody since March 2024. His bail plea is currently being reviewed by the Supreme Court.
The CBI asserts that it has gathered substantial evidence, including documents and witness testimonies, to support its claims. The case has sparked widespread political controversy, with opposition parties accusing AAP of corruption and financial misconduct. As the investigation continues, the case could have significant political ramifications for AAP, particularly as the party prepares for future elections. If proven, the allegations could severely impact AAP’s reputation and leadership, potentially undermining its governance in Delhi and beyond.
The investigation is ongoing, and the political fallout from the case is being closely monitored. Further developments are expected as the legal process advances. For more politics news in Hindi, subscribe to our newsletter.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) informed the Rouse Avenue Court that it has evidence proving that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promised Rs 90 lakhs to each candidate in 40 constituencies during the Goa elections. The agency also linked the funding to the South Group.
Durgesh Pathak’s Alleged Role in Goa Elections
According to the CBI, Durgesh Pathak, a Delhi MLA, was in charge of the Goa election, and all funds were spent on his instructions. The agency claimed that Pathak was instrumental in managing the financial aspects of the election, allegedly using funds from the South Group.
CBI Seeks Extension of Arvind Kejriwal’s Judicial Custody
During the hearing, the CBI requested an extension of Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody by 14 days. The agency also mentioned Vinod Chauhan’s involvement, who allegedly interacted with the PA of K Kavitha, another figure involved in the case.
Kejriwal’s Custody Extended Amid Health Concerns
Kejriwal, appearing via video conferencing, expressed concerns about his health, specifically a drop in his sugar levels. The court granted his request and extended his judicial custody until September 3, when the charge sheet against him will be considered.

Kejriwal is now Superstar
IMC WEB DESK NEW DELHI: Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal got major relief after Honourable Supreme court granted interim bail over the money laundering case.
Tumblr media
Bandana Kumari is relieved but worried of the road ahead.
Three times AAP MLA Bandana Kumari from Shalimar Bagh constituency speaking exclusively to IMC News Bureau said that Kejriwal’s release is a big boost for the party’s fortune ahead of the impending Assembly election.
Referring to Delhi’s voters as an extended family of Aam Aadmi Party, she said all pending welfare issues of the state would now, be fast tracked before the announcement of the assembly election dates.
Bandana Kumari told IMC news bureau that all pending files on various developmental programs would now be taken up urgently by the CM’s office.
AAP’s future step
Bandana Kumari disagreed that anything quite stopped during Kejriwal’s absence. She said “Even in the absence of the CM, there was not even a single day when APP was not hitting the roads solving grass root level issues.”
With just a few month’s left for the upcoming assembly election, AAP has a tall task in hand. Non BJP votes would be divided between AAP and Congress as the National Alliance won’t work in Delhi. It would a fourth straight fight for Bandana Kumari in the prestigious Shalimar Bagh Constituency on New Delhi.
How Kejriwal got bailed out
On March 21, ED arrested Arvind Kejriwal by alleging a case of criminal conspiracy by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders like Manish Sisodia and others to benefit the liquor sellers by doing changes in the Delhi Excise Policy of 2021-22.
