i’m going to list down movies from 2022 then i’m gonna rank them along with commentary just because 🫶🏻 no i’m kidding this is my excuse to gush about the outfit. anyway, you can also drop down any movie recommendations of any year, genre, and country, then my friends and i are gonna watch it <3 i’ll tell ya’ll what my friends think of it too.

1. BATMAN 2022

i cannot explain the person i became when i watched this movie. first of all, i have watched most of robert pattinson’s movies and he absolutely SLAYYYY’D this role as bruce wayne. he was amazing. hands down.

i love how bruce was also lowkey called out for his privilege and how bruce is the perfect epitome of the bruce from batman year 1 where he’s still navigating being batman and is being edgy asf. paul dano, as always, sERVED. and as the number one fan of barry keoghan, i kept on searching for him the whole movie and boom, there he is on twitter. don’t get me started on zoe kravitz please.

the cinematography was amazing, the sountrack just *chef’s kiss* and the only thing i hate is that he still doesn’t have robins. give battinson a robin. give patman a robin.

2. THE OUTFIT

aka the reason why i’m doing this rating thing in the first place because the outfit was amazing. i’m sorry but knives out doesn’t hold a candle to the outfit because the subtlety of everything and how it makes you root for one side and get frustrated at the other, then you just quickly switch sides again, and then you get UGH because you wanted the found family but uGH

i personally don’t enjoy mob–themed movies but the outfit doesn’t romanticize or make the mob seem bigger than it tries to be. and unlike most mob–themed movies, it’s less on the action and more on the manipulation and psychological warfare. because ohhh fuck, i was just sitting there, watching everything get spun around by this tailor and oooooh, i loved it so much.

3. EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE

this movie was basically the representation of my mommy issues. i hate it so much. it doesn’t help that my mom owns a laundromat too,,, like is this movie seriously targeting me bc istg just remove the dad and the grandpa and this is me and my whole lifestory. maybe add some religious trauma too.

anyway, i called everything that happened before it even happened because of my projecting and it was so skilfully done and creatively presented. i was worried that it would end with just a normal reconciliation but i’m happy it didn’t go that way because some things aren’t so easily forgiven. all you need to do is to work with it step-by-step. and i love, love how the family dynamics were portrayed and the other parallel universes, specifically the hotdog hands.

anyway, this is amazing. watch it especially if you’re an asian afab who’s part of the lgbtqia+ community with mommy issues. the laundromat thing really annoyed me bc what the fuck is this me am i joy??

4.  THE NORTHMAN

robert eggers makes me so happy bc finally, i have a director i can love without him having 121920310 sexual assault cases and being a fucking asshole human being <3 please keep it up, mister eggers

first of all, i’m eating up whatever robert eggers directs. and i’m eating up whatever anya taylor-joy is in, and they are perfect together. i loved the witch and the lighthouse, and the northman hit me across the face and made me so happy too.

i love how neither sides are worth to root for except for anya. the main character has his own issues, everyone has his own issues, and both sides are layered with more stories that there are lots of things you have to consider. the cinematography is as expected from robert eggers and i can kiss him on the lips for his amazing storytelling that i can’t somehow put into words.

5.  THE HATCHING

i love body horror and i have mommy issues, and the hatching is basically that. it shows exactly what kids with mommy issues go through: the need to get your mother’s approval, not wanting to be like her, and having these maternal instincts for things, and the main character is much kinder and nicer, of course, but the body horror. the body horror made me swoon. and i always love me some overprotective mother who can’t see what’s wrong with her kid <3

anyway, this is mostly so high up here because the premise was interesting and ya’ll know i love body horror and mommy issues.

6.  NO WAY HOME

i mean, i’m marvel’s bitch. anyway, i love no way home and all but like i said, it’s a marvel movie. it follows the same formula but i love, love this version of spider-man and of course, the fact that andrew garfield and tobey maguire are there. movie-wise and plot-wise, it was amazing: it showed the outcome of the villains in some movies and actually discussed that some of them are dead, and nooooow, i’m realizing i shouldn’t be putting spoilers

anyway, i want more from tom holland’s spider-man bc marvel’s been pulling out so many new heroes for the new avengers,, like america my sweet, kate bishop, ugh. moon knight content too pls.

7.  DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS

don’t get me wrong. i love doctor strange and i eat up everything marvel gives me but i honestly prefer doctor strange as a side character more than a main character. it suits his “i’m very powerful and i’m everyone’s last resort” vibes bc he’s yk, THE sorcerer. so anyway, yeah, there’s that BUT LET ME TELL YOU: WANDA MAXIMOFF TERRIFIED THE SHIT OUT OF ME.

when my friend said that the multiverse of madness was a horror story i was calling cap. i know that sam raimi’s directing it and i loved the evil dead but there was no way i was ready for the shit wanda pulled. i love her so much. the only reason why it’s way down here because i was never attached to the ‘christine + strange’ agenda and there were so many movies from 2022 that were way better than this one.

I’m getting more and more curious about the Primordial Demoness. It’s often stated in the book that the downfall of demonesses are their gender dysmorphia (and subsequent cycle of revenge driving them closer towards madness) as well as their eventual sealed fate of falling in love and perishing due to it.

It’s been hinted at multiple times that the Primordial Demoness was born a man and they started this whole revenge cycle but I’m curious as to why they ascended to become the sequence 0 god of the Demoness pathway then. Wouldn’t it be better for them to have stayed at a lower level and aim for the Red Priest pathway? And it’s not like ascending to godhood is a sudden decision, the sequence 0 potion ingredients, uniqueness, and ritual don’t happen spontaneously out of nowhere so I’m wonder what pushed Cheek into making this decision.

For now it seems that Cheek, like the rest of the gods wants to claim authority over multiple pathways and thanks to the Augustus family, now holds one of the sequence 1 hunter characteristics. Amon gave one to the the evil spirit of Einhorn-Sauron-Medici and the remaining one is supposedly in the hands of one of the royal families.

And with the appearance of descendants of the Einhorn, Sauron, and Medici families making their appearance in COI all at the same time, I’m getting kinda nervous at this “reasonable development”. Alista Tudor’s last bloodline, Rafter Pound, died in LOTM and now with the unlocking of the 4th Epoch Underground Trier looming ahead, I’m very much anticipating more information about the 4th Epoch! Also the fact that the Einhorn and Sauron families often marry into each others’ family is pretty jaw dropping considering each family can be considered a competitor for the Red Priest position.

It also seemed like Einhorn, Sauron, and Medici hated each other to the point of sending Pallez Zoroast into a laughing fit finding out those three ancestors were bound together for thousands of years and are now trapped in one body so the marriage this was a little mind boggling. Adding Amon and Adam into the mix and the whole Samaritan Women’s Spring debacle (which is so fishy) makes me wonder what kind of plan everyone seems to be cooking up. Also seems implied that Evernight is getting involved as well as the Tarot club. Hmmm.
