Black women birthed the entire world and continue to nurture seeds and represent Mother Earth. Read and debate whatever and whoever necessary to gain and digest the facts. The Black woman is God! Within the next month I will enter motherhood as a Black woman. The responsibility of Black mothering to meet the ambitious standards I set for every role I take on is overwhelming. Circa 2016: Winter break of my sophomore year, I was almost sure it would be the last Christmas I would spend with my Marie. I almost lost my job taking care of her, trying to figure out why she was in so much pain. Due to the actions of my father, making the decision to take her to urgent care, and spending some nights in the hospital, my mother was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the white blood cells in bone marrow in January 2017. Two years ago on this very day, she underwent a bone marrow transplant and has been cancer-free ever since. Happy Birthday to my 2-year-old Marie! I wish you many many more, like a 1,000😂. We already know that every living human being came from a black woman. Consequently I met god when I met my mother. I am here to appreciate the gods as I know them, the mothers. Surrender! My Doula @makteezy told me that giving birth will require me to surrender. As someone who doesn’t give-in or give-up and values the power and freedom of having options to impact life outcomes… surrendering hasn’t been a simple or fearless practice. Yet, I’ve been successful throughout this pregnancy (as I’ve been with love, marriage and roles that require me to give or share my being and power). At each instance I learn that there is so much power and freedom in surrendering to and for the right people and moments. Surrender, we meet again. Day #19 Elisabeth Domitien was the first woman to serve as Prime Minister in Africa. She was the Prime Minister of Central African Republic in the mid 70's. Domitien was often described as a woman who showed extraordinary strength in her eyes and authority in her voice. She also had a dynamic personality, was enterprising and a skillful speaker. From humble beginnings she used these traits to become a successful farmer/businesswoman. Domitien would then go to mobilize the population with her speeches in Sangho, helping to unite different groups and created a sense of national identity. She became head of the women's group in the independence movement, the Movement for the Social Evolution of Black Africa She served as a political adviser as well as the vice president under President Bokassa in 1965(after a successful coup) Bokassa now as the head of the party, would appoint Elisabeth Domitien the Prime Minister.
