I keep seeing lists and recs for short books/stories to cram in before the year is up to meet the “reading goal” and it makes me feel sad that I know how that feels. I feel sad that people need to feel rushed to read.

Slow down, friends. Read what you want, read what you must, but don’t force yourself to consume. I feel like reading should be about quality over quantity.

Being nonbinary I sometimes feel like I’m not “trans enough” or I don’t look “androgynous enough”.

I’m constantly struggling with my identity, but I just wanna say I am not cis, so Happy Trans Day of Visibility.

I am pretty meticulous about keeping my books in good condition, but there’s something about finding a beat up book with a cracked spine and maybe the dust cover is a little torn that makes me feel such love and care and appreciation. You were loved and I will continue to love you.

Just a friendly reminder as a lot of fun new books are being published/about to be released, try not to preorder them off Amazon.

I know it’s cheaper and you get it faster, but if you can support a local business or keep the money within your community instead of giving it to a corporation, that’d be great.

Obviously, some people don’t have this option, but if you do, shop local.

I feel that as someone who likes collecting books and having physical copies of my own that this book- How to Resist Amazon and Why- is very important.

Have I bought books off Amazon? Most definitely, but I’m trying to cut myself off from using that mega corporation when I should be keeping money in my community and supporting the indie bookstores around me.

Especially as a bookblogger we should be advocating for independent bookstores and libraries instead of spending our money with corporations like Amazon.
