kaveh is amazing, like best supportive boyfriend alert

if you have sensory issues, he can’t really help with the big crowds and loud noise but he’ll try his best to help you cope through it and give you distractions

like if ur in a crowded erea he’ll ask you to talk about your hyperfixations to him. if you don’t have hyperfixations he’ll just ask what you have done today

when it comes to taste sensory issues, he’ll try to avoid eating food that you dont like the smell of cause he doesn’t wanna overwhelm your nose. he will eat said food like that someplace else when ur not around

if you have comfort foods, he sadly can’t really buy them often since he doesn’t have a lot of money, but now and again as a special treat he can make it for you or buy it

clingy? great, he is too, cuddle him all you want, he’s not one to complain. wanna kiss him all over? go ahead, he embraces it

tries his best to understand how you work, he can sympathise with how frustrating things can be when people don’t quite understand you and how you work

ngl he’s not rlly the best, but he tries. it’s just really difficult for him to be nice since after all he’s been through, he tries tho, he really does

whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed by large crowds and/or noises, he will pick you up bridal style and bring you to nahidas place, where it’s quiet and no one else is there

like certain foods? he can’t cook, since he was made by ei who can’t cook to save her life, so he will just buy your comfort foods for you instead

want cuddles? it depends on his mood wether or not he’ll comply, if he’s in a good mood, yes, if he’s in a neutral mood, yes, if he’s in a bad mood, no.

whenever you stim, he sometimes watches, other times he looks away, he doesn’t wanna say anything mean to you by accident

if you can’t understand sarcasm, he’ll try his best to not use it around you, but it’s difficult sometimes since he has used sarcasm for so long

if you have hyperfixations and like to talk about them, he will listen, doesn’t mind hearing you talk about your interests, in a strange way it fascinates him, sometimes he asks questions other times he just stays silent and nods his head now and again in acknowledgment

if he ever hears anyone being mean to you, wether that be on purpose or not, he’s finna throw some hands, and he will win. tries not to actually fight them, tries to argue with them. he tries to fight less cause it makes nahida kinda upset

Archon Quest: Missing in Action

here’s something interesting. im gonna drop a cleaned up theory post based on it soon ish but in the meantime I want it out there in the Fandom Space

hereeee is a list of the characters from every nation who have NOT shown up in the archon quest yet! everybody else has. this group makes up 19 of the near 90 playables that have been produced - so about 20%. Bigger proportion than I thought it’d be tbh but still kinda small

and something that’s always bothered me is the lengths they’ll go to incorporate characters into the archon quest. like even Candace and Dori get small scenes during their nation’s AQ; so would it really be that hard to have us stop by Diona’s tavern while seeking info?

And it goes even further - Shenhe’s story quest and Kazuha’s original story quest both being sold as archon quest interludes, when there is nothing obviously important/unique enough for these two to be doing in those quests.

(meanwhile, other characters who really SHOULD’VE been part of the archon quest weren’t included: looking at the list of Inazuma characters who didn’t show up during the AQ, holy crap we should’ve met all four they really could’ve contributed)

some of y’all who read my why ludi harpastum terrifies me post will recall that part of my reasoning as to why was because Klee hasn’t shown up in an AQ yet. which they also make a big deal of in her story quest… *sigh*

so, I wonder if we can somewhat predict how each of the nations’ casts will play into the endgame by looking at who hasn't appeared yet.

under the cut I give a basic explanation of who we probably won't learn anything new from and what a follow-up post to this will look like

knocking out the obvious contenders in Mondstadt, it’s Albedo, Sucrose, Klee (Hexenzirkel/Alice/Gold things), Mika, Eula (ruling/defending Mondstadt, linking up with the greater Knights), Fischl (Adventurer’s Guild, connected to Wanderer and Mona through events), and Bennett (Adventurer’s Guild, possible Natlanian, curse-haver).

in Liyue, it’s Hu Tao and Yaoyao, for their proximity to Zhongli and the adepti. And in Inazuma, all four - Chiori and Kirara for their international connections, Heizou for his detective skill, and Ayato as the Yashiro Commissioner and schemer.

In Sumeru, I think I can get why all of them would be tied into endgame but I don’t know anything about the Temple of Silence or Cyno’s 2nd story quest, so I can’t dive into Sethos yet. But Layla and Faruzan are plenty of food with their fields of study, and both have also been exposed to interesting and unique curses/leyline effects

In Fontaine, I don't think it's a coincidence that Emilie and Chevreuse, the only pair who didn't appear in the archon quest, seem to be set as a trio with Chiori. hm hm hm

okay, so in the next post, I'm gonna break down what Diona, Noelle, Chongyun, Xinyan, Gaming, Faruzan, and Layla have to tell us about where the direction of Genshin endgame could go. plus, I'll also reformat and recap the lore of the characters I listed (because they still do have interesting lore, and there are a couple of different directions/predictions to play with) as well as bring up other characters from those nations that I think are likely to make reappearances.

Various Genshin Impact Headcanons (and Why I Have Them)

- Some of these might not actually have an explanation or a mini drabble - content warnings: drugs/drug mention, Archon Quest spoilers, Traveler is stated to be Lumine (only because i play as her), hints of angst - ship mentions: heikaveh, zhongchi - None of these are listed in any particular order - This list will be constantly edited and updated - This list is also long as FUCK

• Alhaitham actually doesn't like black coffee.

He always orders 2 coffees, though. One black, the other with enough sugar it really could barely even be considered coffee anymore. Both cups will be taken to his office at the Akademiya, and sometimes a passing scholar might see Master Kaveh of Kshahrewar leaving the Scribe's office with the extra coffee cup. However what they all fail to notice, is that Kaveh's cup isn't the one that contains an excess of caramel and chocolate syrups, whipped creams, and sugar, like one would assume. That cup remains remains with Alhaitham. It's his, after all.

• Dendro users can control their own/another's psychoactivity

okay i know this one is WILD but stfu and hear me out. so, most alcohols are made with fermented grains and fruits, there's an entire wiki page on psychoactive plants/mushrooms, can you see where im going with this. Dendro users (namely Tighnari bc face it, that one dude in his character demo was lit like a mfn christmas tree, and tbh so was he) can either sober themselves up or induce a hallucinogen (severity and effect varies on who and what the purpose is for) when needed

• Anemo users can control their own oxygen levels

i actually saw this one somewhere else (i think somebody else did a think piece on other ways Vision holders can use and control their elements) and i just wrote it into my understanding of how Teyvat works and then i remembered that while yes, we do get the 15% stamina reduction, no, it is not stated anywhere in game that Anemo users never get muscle exhaustion due to lack of oxygen in the bloodstream.

• Certain Hydro users can control blood

Those users being Tartaglia, Kokomi, and Barbara. Tartaglia bc fucking DUH, Kokomi bc she WAS a leading figure in the Inazuman Civil War (lbr, Kokomi deserves a little more violence in her life. i mean look at her), and Barbara learned as a medical thing, in case someone needed to keep blood flow going, and to help find veins for things like IVs or vaccines.

• Mona went to the Akademiya as a Rtawahist scholar

It only lasted MAYBE 8 months, but she was there. If you didn't see Layla's name in the top spot after exams, it was more than likely Mona's until she left for Mondstadt.

• The exams at the Akademiya are on a month by month basis

Because there are so many people going in and out and doing self-studies at the Akademiya, it wouldn't make sense for exams to be on a quarter by quarter basis, so they're done at the end of every month instead.

• Kaveh actually does know about what happened in Sumeru City

Cyno initially told him that there was trouble, and he was searching for Alhaitham. Kaveh wasn't able to leave his project in the desert to help, but thankfully, Candace gave him a run down on the plan and everything that followed when he returned to Aaru Village in preparation for returning to Sumeru City. During the library scene, yes, Kaveh already knew, but he wanted to hear AH's version of the events. Meanwhile, Alhaitham is being difficult because he doesn't want Kaveh to worry over a certain plot event. (He could just leave it out, however Kaveh always knows when he lies.)

• No one knew about Alhaitham using the Divine Knowledge Capsule in the Grand Sage's Office

canon can say they knew all it wants, you'll pry the angst of when this goes sideways out of my cold lifeless hands

• Klee is the in-game reason why we haven't seen Dornman Port or the Dandelion Sea yet

She accidentally blew up the connecting mountain to Dornman Port while fish blasting, and the Dandelion Sea resides further north (meta reasoning is we return to Mondstadt at some point before the Khaenri'ah chapter, and that'll open up this area)

• Tartaglia is actually a really good healer

He learned because he didn't want his younger siblings to worry if he came home with an unexplainable amount of scars, but no one else in the Fatui believes him when he says he's a good healer bc of how he acts on a battlefield (you know that one scene from Sailor Moon where Usagi is like "i got a C+ in first aid!"? that's him)

• Tartaglia is extremely good at wood carving

There was a little truth to the toy seller "lie". He might not be the best, but he does sell a lot of wood carvings for children. The carvings are especially popular in both Liyue and Sumeru.

• Alhaitham and Nahida both find Cyno's jokes funny

Alhaitham doesn't outwardly laugh, but he's losing his mind on the inside, but Nahida is just a ball of giggles for a good thirty seconds following.

• Flowers grow around Dendro users according to their emotions or location

It's best seen with Catalyst users (ie. flora grows under Nahida wherever she walks, qingxin and violetgrass grow in Baizhu's hair whenever he's in Qingce Village), but Yaoyao usually has a few silk flowers and qingxin in her hair, Kaveh has been seen with a crown of Nilotpala Lotus and Padisarah on multiple occasions (especially around the Palace of Alcazarzaray), and Alhaitham has been caught with a Kalpalata Lotus once or twice.

• Kaveh is the reincarnation of the Goddess of Flowers/Alhaitham is the reincarnation of King Deshret

it's a popular theory and it's just. ingrained into my understanding of Teyvat now lmao

• Baizhu is at least part Adeptus

i just. i have a feeling. Changsheng is there for a reason, Changsheng TALKS for a reason.

• All of the regulars at Angel's Share knows that Venti is Barbatos.

no bc what the fuck do you mean the twink is drinking Grand Master Varka under the table??? and he's still standing??? is is liver okay???? (Venti also let it slip a few times)

• Everyone in Liyue Harbor knows that Zhongli is Rex Lapis.

you can't tell me no one in the harbor read Rex Incognito and didn't go "hm. this kinda sounds familiar. oh yeah! this reminds me of the consultant at Wangsheng Funeral Parlor!" that is not statistically possible. (Everyone at Wanmin was subjected to a very awkward conversation between Tartaglia and Zhongli after Signora left Liyue.)

• The Fairy Floss Incidents™

- Klee is not allowed to have any by order of Acting Grand Master Jean Gunnhildr. (Klee almost collapsed Stone Gate while fish blasting until Diluc found her.) - Lumine got a recipe for it in Fontaine and offered to make some for Xiao, but he denied vehemently (Childe offered him some when he was visiting Zhongli and has thought it was something dangerous ever since) - Xiangling has yet to find a suitable recipe including fairy floss since it dissolves in liquids almost immediately. - Shogun hates it, Ei LOVES it, yes, this has caused multiple arguments within the Plane of Euthymia (Scaramouche despises the stuff, but becomes indifferent towards it after becoming the Wanderer.) - Nahida is no longer allowed to have it in large amounts by order of Acting Grand Sage Alhaitham and General Mahamatra Cyno.

• Jean and Barbara actually do have a good relationship with each other

let them be sisters, hoyoverse.

• Jean actually does know about Albert.

The only reason she hasn't done anything yet is because Barbara asked her not to, unless it escalates. However, Jean does have Kaeya monitoring the situation. (Kaeya was busy in meetings during that one ending in Barbara's Hangout [Untimely Enthusiasm] and she had asked Lumine not to tell Jean.)

• Kaeya and Diluc have forgiven each other but they have yet to forgive themselves.

• Jean got her Vision first.

• Jean actually does know about the argument between Diluc and Kaeya.

It's hard. It's hard not asking questions when you hear an explosion. A large one, one that you hope is only the little Spark Knight, but it can't be, because you know she was currently traveling with her mother through Liyue. Not asking questions becomes even harder when you find one of your closest friends sitting as if the world just broke underneath him with shards of ice and hints and trails of frostbitten skin on his left arm. It's exponentially harder when you find the answer to some of those questions shattered in a corner somewhere, nursing burn scars up and down his right side and a newly acquired Cryo Vision. And so, her first reaction is to heal. Heal what she can, and support the foundations of what she currently can't. Her second reaction is to seek answers. She seeks the answers, and she heals, and she puts the puzzle pieces together. But suddenly, one drops off the face of Teyvat, frostbitten and a heart full of fire and anger. She is left with the other, burned and a heart full of ice and sadness. It’s hard. It’s hard to move forward, and to heal two broken and hurting hearts, but she is Jean Gunnhildr, the Dandelion Knight of Mondstadt. And to heal and protect is her ambition.

• Kaeya has never seen a horse in real life.

There are no horses in Khaenri'ah and by the time Kaeya was in a high enough position to really be around them constantly, Varka had taken all of the cavalry on the expedition. (Jean went through with naming Kaeya the Cavalry Captain so she can ask for his help in an official unofficial capacity since the Knights of Favonius didn't [and still doesn't] have an espionage division.) To this day, Kaeya still thinks horses are something Diluc made up to mess with him.

• Raiden Shogun and Scaramouche have ball joints.

The reason people dont like genshin isnt because of story despite how much its talked about. Thats because the story is only talked about by players who have already decided they will keep playing.

People who tried the game and decided to leave usually stop because they hate the gacha system/rage quit when they didnt get a character they wanted, grinding for materials and artifacts, their world got to difficult for them to keep up with, and their moral dilemma of playing a game that does things they disagree with.

1st reason cannot be helped. Some people just need to change their mindset about things and something else ill say for reason 4

2nd reason is valid HOWEVER you do not need to level your characters all the way to max to be able to get through the story. There is a minimum yes but you dont need to max your characters

And that all ties in with reason 3, YOU DONT NEED TO KEEP ADVANCING YOUR WORLD LEVEL. IF YOU WANT TO YOU SHOULD MAX YOUR CHARACTERS TO THEIR CURRENT LIMIT AT THE LOWER LEVELS AND DO THIS FOR EVERY WORLD LEVEL. This way you arent struggleing for 20 mins trying to fucking fight the oceanid with your low lvl characters with shit talents (happened to me) in general your gaming experience goes alot smoother if you take your timelvling your characters AND WORLD LVL which is optional after a certain point but even before then you dont have to rush archon quests.

And lastly for reason 4, you do not have to agree with the buisness practices of mihoyo/hoyoverse to like the game. You do not need to spend money on genshin to enjoy the game. And you dont have to agree with how they handle content in the game to like the game in general. Alot of people got really mad with how they handled the skin tones of the people from sumeru

But you still have to keep in mind this is a game company in china. They had to perma change some characters outfits for CN players because of chinese laws. China is also their main and largest userbase. They will cater towards what the majority want. This goes for everything not just skin colors. Is this right? In america, no. But personally I don't speak about what's right and wrong for other countries. What's okay here isn't okay elsewhere and sometimes you have to respect that decision even if you don't personally agree with it.

Ultimately its your own decision to leave the game for these reasons, but to say its trash is unreasonable. Genshin on its own is a good game. Its a high quality game for free. The characters you want arent unobtainable. None of them are payment locked it just means youll have to be patient if you dont want to spend money.

Grinding mats and artifacts actually isnt that hard it just gets boring and repetitive if you do it alone. But if your patient with lvling it shouldn't be hard to get through

These are the real reasons people stop playing and honestly no point in arguing with them because obviously this isnt the kind of game they would be interested in in the first place if they are struggling.

You bring a lot of good points to the table but many people I know who stopped playing Genshin was actually because the story was getting boring. A close friend of mine hasn't even played past AR15 because she found the tutorial quests to be boring af. My bf is stuck in Inazuma rn because the story can drag a bit there. Inazuma was my least favorite as well. That's what my post was originally about.

I'm also semi f2p aka I only pay for the battle pass occasionally and the welkin moon. Sometimes not getting a character after man pulls can be frustrating but I also love the gacha mechanic

Tbh mihoyo lost that "We're just a little ol company in china and the laws say we can't have any black people in our games" when they literally made a playable Honkai character black. It's not that they can't. They just didn't want to.

I've been playing at word level 6 for a while cuz I don't make enough damage. (I hate grinding alone) It really hasn't bothered me that much when it comes to general gameplay but it does come to bite you in the butt when doing for example certain events or the abyss sometimes

probably my best Genshin moment ever, forgot to make the post the night it happened but I just remembered it:

a few weeks ago I was doing my weekly bosses and I always do match-making for the latest one in the Sumeru desert because of the second phase. I switched to always using Kokomi awhile back and was using her this time. I was playing with an Amber, forgot the other two but pretty sure one was either Ganyu or Shenhe. I do remember that it was an all women character team.

the Amber went down during the first part but that was only because she forgot to heal before the boss. the rest of us were able to carry until the point where dead teammates get revived.

then at the final part, people start dropping. I think the Amber dropped because she didn't get my heal in time. one person dropped because they didn't reach the shield bubbles in time for the insta-kill attack. forgot how the third person died but they lasted the longest.

I, Kokomi, was the last one standing with the boss at a little bit over half health. I was entirely sure the run was dead and it would be a matter of time until I was gonna drop. I didn't. the others kept cheering me on to solo it. I decided to just keep doing the motions of hitting it from afar, drop my healing skill when it recharged, dodge, go to the shield bubbles when the insta-kill was getting ready, and just do that until I died and not stop to type asking the rest of the team if we should just restart.

this went on for maybe like ten minutes. one time I almost dropped because I couldn't find a shield bubble at first, but I managed to squeeze in just in time. there were a few points where my health dropped dangerously low and my healing skill wasn't ready so I had to use healing food instead. I think I got full and couldn't use more by the final stretch. it was also because of this instance that I discovered that Kokomi's normal attacks still hit the boss even when standing in the shield bubbles during the insta-kill attack, so now I do that every time to shave off a little bit of HP during that period where everyone else can't hit it.

I just kept doing the rounds - normal attack spam, dodge, heal skill, find shield, food when desperate - over and over again thinking at some point something's gonna trigger to insta-kill me for taking too long like some other bosses do. all my normal attacks were under 1k damage 'cause my Kokomi's not *fully* built (and even then, I focused more on healing than damage) and also she can't crit, but I just kept shaving little bits off until eventually, half health became nearly dead. at no point did anyone disconnect out of impatience.

the boss finally goes down as the other three revive. they're celebrating, I'm shaking with adrenaline and shock.

the next time I had to do that boss, it almost happened again, but I think one other person survived with me in finishing off the final phase. I guess that everyone kept dying might say smth bad about my role as a healer, but tbh one thing is that since the boss keeps moving from one point of the arena to the other while my healing skill stays in place, people keep having to move away from the healing zone if they wanna do damage. but I also may have not realized what Kokomi's Burst does besides the water walking until just now googling it... okay oof I actually have been a bad healer.

Itto is the first to run up to you to see if its real, if he hasn't had too much sake and you're standing there in the flesh. The first thing he notices about you is the choker you wear, identical to his, and the hoodie you wear that replicates his own oni markings

But instead of smelling land, he smelled something completely new, almost out of this world. He looks below him for anything, but theres a new sound coming from above him that no one else seems to hear, perhaps because of the storm?

When the sound gradually got closer, he realized that was the sound of someone yelling, and approaching at a rapid rate- oh my archons a girl is falling out of the sky-!

Kazuha doesn't think, and he leaps out of his crows nest to catch you and slow down the fall with anemo. When he lands, hes holding you close to his chest and youre so disoriented you dont even realize you can get down "Oh! Im not dead! Where is the shogun i swear i just beat that fight in the plane of- where the hell am i why am i wet?? why is kazuha holding me?"

"You know my name?"

"Of course i do! You didn't come home and i lost 50/50 to keqing AGAIN- wait where am i-"
