Unveiling Baguio: Exploring the Enchanting Charms of the City of Pines
Tumblr media
There are places that you’ve been to and that place seems like a magnet to your soul that you keep on coming back. I’ve got that place in my heart and that is Baguio City. I always hear the pine trees calling me whenever there is a feeling deviated from my normal state – that takes place most of the time.
Tumblr media
Back in March 2018, during my junior high school days, I had the incredible opportunity to be selected as a representative of our school for the annual YMCA Corporate meeting held in Baguio. I was fortunate to be chosen as one of the delegates to represent our institution, a memorable experience that introduced me to the wonders of Baguio for the very first time.
At precisely 9 PM, my classmates, teachers, and I arrived at the YMCA headquarters in Ermita, Manila. This was our designated meeting point where we gathered, anticipating the arrival of our bus for our upcoming journey. In the wee hours, our bus finally arrived, just past midnight. Excitement filled the air as we boarded, and as we began our journey towards Baguio, I found myself wide awake, dreaming with open eyes, captivated by the unfolding scenery along the way. Its going to be a long and butt-numbing bus ride but who cares I love long travels. I’ve got nothing but my expectations and hope for a cool and nice weekend in Baguio.
Tumblr media
When we arrived in Baguio, we took a cab going to Teacher’s Camp – a rather hunted place for the many but a perfect retreat place for dreary being like me. You will sleep in a decades old rooms or dormitories, with lush of pine trees, and sweet hum of the myna in the morning – that’s what will you experience in Teacher’s Camp. It was my first time to stay in Teacher’s Camp and I prefer this place than any overprice old hotels in the noisy Session Road
Sharing a collective sense of apprehension about the rooms at Teacher's Camp, my classmates and I made the unanimous decision to bunk together in a single room. The eerie ambiance of the place had unsettled us, fostering a feeling of unease. This collective fear drove us to seek solace in each other's company, finding comfort and reassurance in the presence of our peers. Despite the initial trepidation, our togetherness served as a source of courage, allowing us to overcome the eerie atmosphere and eventually find a sense of security within the shared space.
Tumblr media
As a representative at the YMCA Baguio event, the experience was nothing short of transformative. It was an honor to stand as a delegate, representing my school among peers from various institutions. The responsibilities entrusted upon us instilled a sense of pride and purpose, as we engaged in discussions, workshops, and collaborative activities aimed at fostering leadership and camaraderie. The picturesque backdrop of Baguio added to the charm, offering a serene environment conducive to both learning and bonding. Interacting with students from diverse backgrounds broadened my perspectives, fostering friendships that transcended geographical boundaries. The experience not only enriched my understanding of leadership but also left an indelible mark on my personal growth, igniting a passion for collaboration and community involvement that continues to inspire me.
Now let's get to the exciting part! Following our engaging YMCA activities and leadership workshops, we finally had the chance to embark on an exhilarating tour around Baguio for a day!
Tumblr media
Stepping into Burnham Park in Baguio City was like immersing oneself in a vibrant tapestry of nature and culture. The park's serene atmosphere was an instant escape from the bustling city, offering a picturesque landscape adorned with lush greenery and vibrant flowers. As I strolled along the winding paths, I was captivated by the rhythmic paddling of boats on the serene lake, framed by towering pine trees. The park's diverse activities were a treasure trove of experiences - from renting a swan boat and gliding across the tranquil waters to exploring the vibrant market stalls offering local crafts and delectable treats. The vibrant energy of people engaging in various recreational activities, picnicking, biking, or simply relishing the fresh mountain air created an ambiance brimming with joy and relaxation. Burnham Park stood as a testament to Baguio's charm, a place where tranquility and liveliness seamlessly coexist, leaving an indelible mark on my Baguio experience.
Tumblr media
Visiting Mines View and The Mansion in Baguio City was like stepping into postcards brought to life. Standing at Mines View, the panoramic vista of the surrounding mountains, mines, and valleys was awe-inspiring. The vastness of the landscape painted a breathtaking scene, prompting a sense of wonder at nature's grandeur. The bustling market nearby offered an array of local handicrafts and souvenirs, adding a cultural touch to the experience. Transitioning to The Mansion, the official summer residence of the Philippine President, the grandeur and historical significance of the estate were palpable. The regal façade, surrounded by well-manicured gardens and vibrant flowers, exuded a certain elegance. Walking through the gates allowed a glimpse into the country's history, offering a sense of reverence for the place. Both Mines View and The Mansion served as poignant reminders of Baguio's rich cultural heritage and natural splendor, leaving an indelible impression on my exploration of the city.
Tumblr media
Exploring the Botanical Garden in Baguio City was akin to stepping into a verdant oasis teeming with natural wonders. The moment I entered, the air was filled with the sweet aroma of flowers and the tranquil rustle of leaves. Each step along the meandering pathways unveiled a vibrant tapestry of flora, showcasing a diverse collection of indigenous and exotic plants. The garden's unique landscapes, featuring a colorful array of blooms, ferns, and towering trees, provided a serene backdrop for contemplation and appreciation of nature's beauty. Wandering through the Igorot Village within the garden was a fascinating cultural immersion, offering insights into the local heritage and traditions. The experience at the Botanical Garden was not just a feast for the eyes but also a rejuvenating retreat, fostering a deep connection with nature and leaving me enchanted by Baguio's botanical charm.
Tumblr media
And our last destination is the Strawberry farm in La Trinidad Valley, Benguet a few meters a way from Baguio. In this place you can get to pick strawberrie’s right alongside the Ibaloi farmers to bring home or consume while on vacation in the Summer Capital of the Philippines. The rates for the strawberry picking vary. The strawberry picking is an experience well worth it.
One of the most cherished memories from my time in Baguio City was an unexpected encounter with a local artisan at the bustling market. Amidst rows of intricately woven fabrics and handcrafted trinkets, I stumbled upon an elderly woman whose weathered hands worked diligently on a traditional woven cloth. Engaging her in conversation, she shared anecdotes about her craft, the tales woven into each piece, and the profound significance of preserving cultural heritage through art. Her passion and dedication shone through her stories, and as she demonstrated her weaving technique, her eyes sparkled with pride. This encounter wasn't just about purchasing a souvenir; it was a heartfelt connection, a fleeting yet profound interaction that left an indelible mark, reminding me of the depth and richness of Baguio's cultural tapestry.
Baguio City etched an unforgettable chapter in my heart, a symphony of experiences merging nature's splendor, cultural immersion, and personal connections. The vibrant markets, serene parks, and historical landmarks painted a canvas of diversity and charm. As I reminisce, I'm drawn to the warmth of the locals, their stories, and the way they effortlessly embraced their heritage. To future travelers, I'd ardently recommend immersing oneself in the local culture, savoring the simplicity of a stroll in Burnham Park, engaging with artisans at the markets, and relishing the panoramic views from Mines View. Baguio's beauty is not merely in its sights but in the tales whispered by the winds through pine trees and the laughter echoing in its alleys. This journey wasn't just a vacation; it was an enlightening tapestry of encounters that emphasized the importance of preserving traditions and fostering connections, leaving me enriched and inspired to embrace diversity in all its forms. Baguio City isn't just a destination; it's a soulful journey that lingers long after the trip ends.

Must-Try Food in Ugbo Food Hub
Tumblr media
If you are a nocturnal person like me who enjoys night walks with friends while eating and snacks on the side, this article was written just for you! Join me and let's dive into this well-known food place in Tondo, Manila dubbed as the Streetfood Capital of the Philippines- Ugbo!
The long and narrow stretch in Velasquez, Tondo, Manila, now fondly called Ugbo Street Food, has grown famous for its numerous kiosks that serve inexpensive snacks and desserts until the wee hours of the night.
In Hiligaynon, "Ugbo" means pastime and serves as a street name in a part of Tondo, Manila. It transformed into a famous street food market. Ugbo is a neighborhood bustling with stalls and restaurants open from 5pm until past midnight. It became popular due to its wide variety of food. I wonder how locals manage to sleep amid the constant activity; it's a lively street, filled with lights and bustling conversations. Nonetheless, Ugbo stands as a source of pride for Tondo, providing income for locals. Visitors, including foreigners and food enthusiasts, flock to this area. It's truly a blessing to appreciate.
If you’re looking for an affordable place to enjoy delicious snacks and hang out with friends, check out this thriving community in Manila.
Tumblr media
From Korean to Japanese to Filipino food, Ugbo Street has a great variety of food choices whose process mostly starts at less than 100 pesos: corn dog and rice cake such as spicy tteokbokki; crispy tempura and kani salad; sizzling sisig, bulalo, fresh lumpia, homemade lumpia, and fried rice; grilled squids and scallops; and skewered pork, beef, and tuna belly.
Other stalls offer ice cream rolls, fresh fruit drinks and shakes, fluffy pancakes and crepes, pizza, and pasta, as well as the famous "magic ice cream"-pop rice balls floating on smoky liquid nitrogen.
FOOD FINDS AT UGBO TONDO, MANILA
SIZZLING SISIG RICE
Tumblr media
The sizzling sisig rice is an experience that engages all the senses in a harmonious celebration. Visually, it's a spectacle—a hot plate sizzling with anticipation, emitting aromatic steam that curls upwards, inviting you closer. The scent, a tantalizing blend of savory meats, zesty calamansi, and aromatic garlic, tickles the nostrils, promising a flavor fiesta. As the dish arrives, the crackling sound ignites excitement, while the sight of golden-brown sisig atop a bed of fluffy rice is a feast for the eyes. The first taste is a revelation—the crispy yet tender sisig, with its umami-rich flavor, dances on the palate, complemented by the fragrant rice that soaks up the savory juices. Each bite is a symphony of textures and tastes, delivering a crescendo of flavors that leaves a lasting impression, an invitation to savor the essence of Filipino cuisine in every sensation.
SPICY FISH CAKE
Tumblr media
I saw this street food in every Kdramas and I’m very excited to try it. First bite and I fell in love! This is the kind of street food that I would buy after my study classes. Imagine picking up one of these fish cakes, and feeling the crunch as your fingers sink into its golden crust—the sight alone is mouthwatering. The aroma, a tantalizing mix of the sea and aromatic spices teases your senses, drawing you closer. As you take that first bite, the crispy outer layer gives way to a tender, flavorful interior. The taste is a symphony—subtle fish flavors enhanced by a medley of herbs and spices, creating a comforting yet exciting experience. But the most commendable is the sauce!
The fish cake sauce, oh, it's like a secret companion to the star of the show! Visually, it's a rich, velvety liquid, often with specks of vibrant herbs or chili flakes, inviting you to dive in. As the aroma wafts up, there's a tangy and slightly sweet scent that tickles your nose, hinting at the tantalizing flavors to come. Upon dipping a piece of fish cake, the sauce clings, promising a burst of flavor. The taste is a rollercoaster—a perfect balance of tanginess, a hint of sweetness, and perhaps a touch of spiciness, complementing the fish cakes beautifully.
For its price of 35 pesos each, I would say that this is very affordable.
CORN DOG
Tumblr media
The best corn dog I've ever tried! This is my favorite corn dog, As a cheese lover, this snack was really for me. It has a legit stretch of mozzarella cheese that I've been craving, and I also love the combination of sweetness and sourness that ketchup and mayonnaise brings. For 70 pesos I think it’s reasonable enough. One stick can make your tummy full, especially if you’re a light eater.
TAKOYAKI
Tumblr media
Picture the lively street scene, the sizzle and savory aroma that surrounds a takoyaki stand—the anticipation builds. These little balls of delight, when held, are warm and slightly crispy to the touch. Their appearance, golden-brown and topped with savory sauce and bonito flakes, invites a smile before even taking a bite. As you bring one close, the savory scent of the octopus, mingled with the umami-rich sauce and the tangy notes of pickled ginger, entices your senses. Upon tasting, the initial crunch reveals a molten interior—soft, creamy, and bursting with the flavors of the sea. The harmony of textures and tastes, from the crispy exterior to the tender octopus inside, combined with the medley of savory, sweet, and tangy flavors, is akin to experiencing a joyous celebration in a single bite, leaving a lingering warmth that feels like a happy hug from an old friend.
SWEET CORN
Tumblr media
Imagine cradling a cup of freshly boiled sweet corn, the warmth seeping through the container, comforting your hands. Its appearance, a medley of bright yellow kernels, is sprinkled with a touch of salt and a hint of melted butter—a visual promise of simplicity and satisfaction. As you lift it closer, the steam carries the familiar sweet aroma of corn, triggering memories of summer picnics and outdoor gatherings. With the first spoonful, the tender kernels burst with sweetness, each bite delivering a juicy and comforting sensation. The texture is soft, almost creamy, and the combination of sweetness with a subtle salty note dances on your palate, creating a harmonious balance that feels like a warm embrace on a chilly day
ALING CONSUELO'S FAMOUS HALO HALO
Tumblr media
If this is your first time visiting the Philippines you should try this famous dessert called Halo-halo!
Halo-halo means mixing a variety of ingredients into one bowl or cup. This dessert is exactly just that. At the bottom of a large cup, you can see sweetened beans, langka (jackfruit), sweetened banana slices and nata de coco put together. Then crushed ice with evaporated milk and on top, you can see an ube ice cream, homemade ube, and a leche flan (also a famous dessert in the Philippines). This cup of Halo-halo is worth 70 pesos.
In Ugbo there’s a family rivalry between the two halo-halo stalls that have the same brand name, Aling Consuelo Original Halo-halo. I asked one of the staff how it started and she said that the two owners are siblings. Before they were partners and ran the Aling Consuelo Halo-halo and soon became very famous in Ugbo, but one day they decided to separate and build their own Halo-halo store. I don’t know if this is their strategy to gain more attention from the customers, but I would say that it’s effective because I got curious as well.
Overall I will give this stall 2 stars. I’ve been a huge fan of Halo-halo ever since I was a kid but this one was very bland. The ingredients are neither tasty nor sweet. The servings are very little to think that this is their Special Halo-halo. I expected to have a cup full of ingredients and have that sweet and milky taste but what I’ve got is very bland and almost tasteless. The price of 70 pesos is way too expensive and not worth the price.
FINAL THOUGHTS... I stepped into Ugbo, Tondo, Manila, greeted by the bustling streets filled with vibrant colors and lively chatter. The air was thick with the aroma of sizzling street food and the faint sounds of music playing from nearby stores. As I navigated through the narrow alleys, I was warmly welcomed by the locals, their smiles reflecting genuine hospitality. I found myself drawn to the bustling market, where vendors proudly displayed their fresh produce and wares. Engaging in conversations with the vendors, I learned about their stories, their struggles, and their resilient spirit, which resonated throughout the community. Sampling some local delicacies, I experienced a burst of flavors—a delightful fusion of sweet, savory, and spicy tastes that mirrored the diversity of the neighborhood. The genuine warmth and sense of community in Ugbo, Tondo, left an indelible mark on me, showcasing the strength and vibrancy of Filipino culture amidst life's challenges.

Happy Koshien Update for everyone since we are half way through everyone training arc I’ll start with some big news.
Tumblr media
First Congrats to Hibari for being the first ever coach to get to the main Koshien Tournament TWICE in first year. No one has ever done this even once and to do so twice he has gain a huge advantage.
To put in slight contrast, this has allowed him to be the first coach this year to get a player (Uzuki Kou) to a B rank (Catcher B) in FIRST YEAR. The second player to do this is Shiina’s Kuzuha (Pitch B) who only managed to do so in SECOND YEAR keeping in mind Kou got here first.
This has put him at a new advantage we never seen in Koshien yet. Will it be enough to come out on top? Is Hibari our biggest dark horse yet? We’ll just have to see
Now to notable player stuff:
Tumblr media
Reincarnated Players take teams by storm both for Nui, Leos, Yashiro, and Hibari. Reincarnated players are strong players in game based on players in real life (ex. Kzh is a reincarnated player, that’s why he’s so strong). Most notably Nui has gained the strongest pitcher in her region giving her another lead.
Tumblr media
Catcher A, the best catcher ability has been obtained by Selen Tatsuki, ShizuRin, and Tsukino Mito. With the ever growing rise of strong pitchers, will everyone else be able to have the offensive to keep the game in check? Notable meantion goesto ShizuRin who not only got Catcher A, but both Intimidation and Abehi as well.
Tumblr media
As for the pitcher side, ‘Intimidation’ (the strongest pitcher ability) has been attained by Enna, Chaika, ShizuRin, and Sonny, after rigorous training and luck. While they are not the only Intimidation players in the game (few start out with it naturally) this remains a huge advantage due to the debuff it brings to the field.
Tumblr media
With that I’ll end this post by saying this year’s player focus on two key things. Strong pitchers and Flexible Characters. Many pitchers you see like Kuzuha, Lauren, and Kou are also all strong batters as well, while players like ShizuRin has developed abilities to make them an all rounder for any situation.
This seems like another year of stamina management as well. Who will come out on top? No one knows, but with the ever growing competition arising players might want to start focusing on their offensive and stamina next.
That’s all for Koshien updates overview. It’s not exactly everything but I wanted to bring up the most notable of all sessions so far. Once again if there’s any questions feel free to ask me!

i have seen ppl say when talking about the limbo stuff like ““wait does that mean everyone who kills themselves goesto the train station or?”” and I think ur forgetting that they mentioned it also depends on personal circumstance. c!tommy’s limbo’s both involve him being alone in a void with minimal sensory input- pain for being beat to death, a dsmp VODs playlist for being killed by the axe. presumably, the differences in ghostbur and c!wilbur’s limbo are because of their differing death, and c!wilbur’s limbo is always a train station. presumably, c!jack’s limbo would also be a form of hell, c!ranboo’s limbo would always involve water and or loss of identity, ect.

Taking you away was not an option, an opportunity that comes and goesto the corners of a supernatural world, we only think about whatcould come if we were gone, but now that we have timewe can realize that we were the perfect couple yesterday. When you slept I saw you smile at the morning, the day opened and the closed curtains seemed to shade us, but within us asun that drew forgotten sorrows,…
