Updated Kaiju AU Names/Species/Category List

As mentioned in my concept art post, I wound up creating an updated list of the kaiju and their creature forms! Some wound up getting updates to their code names as well to be more fitting, so hopefully these names will flow better now!

At some point I plan on doing a description based post where I describe each one and what they look like, but that's for another day.

On revisiting the old list here, I had no idea how many I'd given spider-like features and in the end it didn't make sense to me. 😅 I'm happier with how some of them are now! As I get more of their designs figured out, species may change slightly by adding or taking away, but we'll see!

And yes, I've added other characters since their introductions (both English and Japanese, though holding off on one since he hasn't been introduced to English servers yet from the storybook event)! There are some I haven't figured out how to add them to the story just yet, so if you don't see their names there, I hadn't forgotten them!

I just haven't figured out how to add them or what they'd actually be yet 😓 But that doesn't mean they'll be completely out of the picture! Just temporarily sidelined.

i thought too much about sex determination in dragons and now it's one am and i'm manic

color determination must be non-chromosomal, right, otherwise there's no genetic way *at all* to get all the spread of colors in the clutch... but then why is the ratio of F to M so perfectly 50-50... that's sooo easy to explain with XY or ZW or EVEN X0 system

but then why would there be two morphs of female with such ridiculously different hatch rates. i am having SO much trouble finding examples of species with female morphs, it seems like everything that does morphs only has them in the males.

but if they really are just morphs they suck because there isn't even a female-mimic morph and that's like always the second. damn. morph. so they must be distinct sexes, even if they aren't determined chromosomally...

BUT THEN I'M BACK AT THE START. how is it at all useful to evolve five distinct morphs?? what kind of process leads to *five* discrete phenotypes?

eventually i rolled around to the "royal jelly" hypothesis for goldmaking. if a female egg is big enough (or *made* big enough) then getting the right attention will turn her gold. the males just go by size, so small eggs are blue and big ones are bronze.

the only flaw in this plan is that it means greens should grow to any size, not be small. for every gold is a gang of ten monstrous greens as big or bigger than all her bronze suitors. this is not a downside. it solves all of my problems except the one where i want to explain canon...

Now you might be wondering: why is there such a stark difference in height when some of the boys are the same exact height in game?! There's a simple explanation for that, actually.

See, compared to the Monster!AU, the Kaiju's heights are roughly rounded off based off the animals they're based off of. For example, Ace and Deuce: they're both roughly the same height in game, but because Ace is based on a fox and Deuce a canine in this AU, foxes are smaller than regular sized dogs. Hence, Deuce being bigger and Ace using this as an excuse to hitch a ride on his back 😂

Now for those of you who are visual, I've gone through and done a height chart of the boys using my main persona Faun (5'1") as a basis for comparison. As a treat, I did everyone here on the list! UvU

Some of these guys are so big that they dwarf/hide some of their pack. >.> But this should give at least a better idea on how big everyone is!

Trust me, the original height I had for them had Crowley being at 200 ft tall, which would have made interaction nigh impossible 😱 And yes, I was also trying to use the Godzilla and King Kong as examples to go off of, which would have made me being able to write fluff a little difficult realistically ;;^;;

alright, guys, lemme tell you about thursday

So the day started off with me going from my hometown to another city (let’s call it C1, there’s a lot of travelling in this story) by train, cause I had an exam in C1

Practical exam in lab was a bit stressful but went quite well

In C1, I was invited to go get high tea in C2 (university city)

So me and my uni friends go to C2

We decide to go get (good quality and fresh ingredients) burgers instead of high tea

It’s already past noon, so I decide to meet up with a friend to study in the library of C3

Meeting up with friend was wonderful, I loved seeing them again ^^

It was around 5 pm already so I went to get a cheeseburger (of lesser quality) and got on a train back to C2

I had a lecture on gravitational waves (and the recent discovery of those merging neutron stars yaknow) in the evening and some hilariosity ensued

The lecturer was half an hour late because he ripped his pants

So me and my Spanish friend started talking about our telescopes and meteorites and planets and stuff

I might have traumatized him by telling him it gets dark around 5 pm during winter in the NL

Lecturer gets introduced by a second or third year student: “He’s the most enthusiastic physics lecturer you will meet here

“I’m right here!!!“ - the other physics lecturer in the audience

Everyone getting their minds at least a little bit blown by the recent discoveries and their significance

Aforementioned other physics lecturer in the audience remarking “The universe is fricking weird” (I must say, I particularly liked his use of the word fricking)

Pizza

The pizza got rapidly scavenged by the third years (”Yea they’re savages”)

And then I went home by train via C3 xD

Which all amounts to: 1. quite some fastfood, 2. a blown mind, 3. 7 different trains total, and 4. a distressed Spanish dude
