I live in a blue state and most people I know are democrats anyway, so I’m taking my cues from what I see in the media, but these enormous zoom meetings (literally hundreds of thousands of people raising millions in just the last week) and events like the golf cart rally in Florida (in the retirement community that until now was staunchly pro-Trump) have really given me hope.

I have seen other politicians say Trump plans to pull out of NATO, although I didn’t see him say it myself. But I honestly wouldn’t be surprised. He’s literally telling people at rallies that if he wins no one will have to vote ever again (in other words, he’ll just get rid of those pesky elections and install himself as dictator until death).

I think voter participation will be much higher than if Biden had decided to stay in the race. Polls right now are showing she’s ahead of Trump in battleground states. There are Republican leaders publicly endorsing her over Trump which I don’t think would be happening if they didn’t feel she had a chance to win.

Overall, I think people just felt Trump was an inevitability and had given up. But Kamala has given us a new lease on life. Obviously, Trump still has a lot of minions supporters, but there are is a lot more hope right now. Every vote is still going to count. And the wider the margin of victory, the better because we all know he’s not going to accept defeat. But there’s hope.

i love that lmfao but yea let me tell you about how we met. i love telling this story :)

so i used to be a leasing agent at the apartment complex i lived at, and my boyfriend (beef, for short) was a resident there. my job was to technically take care of his needs and i was absolutely not supposed to fraternize with residents per my employee contract. i remember one of the first times i really saw him was when i came into work kinda sick and i felt like shit and my boss told me to clean the coffee machines bcos a resident wanted coffee and it wasnt working. so i was all huffy like "ughhh fineee ok. fuck this resident ugh making me do my job or whatever" and i go over to clean the machine and lo and behold its beef. and im obvi like "damn this guy's kinda cute" and he was so polite too, saying thank you when i was done.

id see him around the complex, like when he'd come to get coffee or when hed take his dog to the dog parks and id be driving around in our golf cart, or when he'd come in to get an air filter bcos we provided those.

another time i saw him again was when he had called in that his rent amount was incorrect, and my boss explained to me that it is correct and that i needed to print out his ledger and give it to him so he can see for himself. now, i had no idea who he was, or that he was the "coffee-guy" from the first part of the story, so im all grumbly again like "ugh! i have to go alll the way over to drop off this ledger like doesnt he know how the rent works?? hes been living here long enough" and i drive over and i knock on the door all huffy and he opens it and i remember how awe struck i was. it was like the slow motion meet cutes in movies. he said hi and i froze up. i was all like "heres your ledger with your rent amount, take a look at it and call me if you've got any further questions" real tight lipped and profesh about it.

at this time i was seeing this other guy in a fwb situation, and we ended up breaking it off which i was actually pretty bummed about, and it was pretty hard to be in my bedroom after that cos i'd just think about that guy, right? i couldnt stay in my room. now where one of the coffee machines are was in the clubhouse where there was also a tv and i brought my ps4 and hooked it up so i could play batman: arkham knight somewhere other than my bedroom. i played for a bit before beef came in. while he was making his coffee late at night, he asked about the game, and we got to talking about the games we like to play, why he was drinking coffee this late was cos of his job at the time, etc etc. it was our first real conversation. i still have an instagram post from that night where i talked about "the hot resident"

conversations began easier after that. hed come in for coffee often (he told me later he started using the machine he didn't like, the one next to my work desk, just so he could be close to me and talk to me). i thought he was so fucking cute, i'd gush about him to my fave coworker (who i still keep in touch with) and i remember looking at her when beef was walking up and i was like "how do i look does my hair look okay" and i pulled out the hair tie i was wearing. and she let me get his air filter for him.

You didn’t look like the usual girls who lived on the island. With their tan skin and toned bodies. Which led to teasing when you were a kid. Because God forbid you have a size 16 waist.

Later that night, you told your mom that Rafe had invited you to Midsummers. She was very very skeptical. Rafe had made your life miserable for years with all the teasing and she felt that nothing good was going to come from it. 

But she helped you get ready anyways. She had an old dress from her first time going to Midsummers and felt it was perfect for you. Once you felt you looked good enough to be seen at a Kook party, you made your way to the country club. 

Rafe was walking with Topper and Kelce to the entrance and he almost tripped over his own feet when he saw you walk up the stairs. “Holy shit.” He muttered. “Damn. Y/L/N cleans up good.” Topper commented. “Well, for someone like her.” Kelce added. 

He thought you looked absolutely beautiful. He was at a loss for words and that was rare for him. “Wow, Y/N, you look amazing.” Rafe finally said. 

You gave him a smile as he offered you his arm to take. As you walked through the party, Rafe greeting people before stopping at the bar. The looks you were getting were enough to make you want to run away and never come back. 

“Everyone’s staring at me.” You muttered. “Because you look amazing. They’re jealous they don’t look as half as good as you.” Rafe reassured you. 

You smiled at him, receiving a genuine in return.

“You’ve deserved the $200 fair and square.” Topper added, giving Rafe the money. Unbeknownst to the three of them, you had no luck finding Kiara and went back to Rafe.

You had heard every word they were saying. You were nothing but a dare to him. Of course it was too good to be true.

“A dare, huh?” You questioned, making yourself known. “Y/N,” Rafe started. “I was just a dare? Another Pogue to fuck around with for fun?” You yelled at him. “No, Y/N, let me explain.” Rafe practically begged.

“Explain what? Thought you’d get a few laughs by embarrassing the fat girl? Well I could change that if I wanted to. You on the other hand can’t change being a selfish and vile asshole.” You snapped.

You were pulled from the confrontation by JJ calling your name. Him and your friends were all standing on the lawn waiting for you.

It had been two weeks since Midsummers and Rafe had been trying relentlessly to get you to talk to him. He thought he’d get the chance at the country club but you hadn’t shown up to work. He asked the manager and apparently you had claimed you were sick. 

But he saw you surfing with JJ two days prior. Rafe didn’t want to show up to your house in case that was overstepping. 

He needed to make things right with you though. He had actually really started to like you just by talking to you at Midsummers. You were funny, sarcastic, down to Earth and he had always thought you were beautiful. 

Whenever Kelce and Topper made fun of your body, he never took part. But he also never told them to stop either. 

Rafe was desperate. So desperate he followed his sister to John B’s one morning to see if you there. And low and behold, your car was parked out front. 

He didn’t know what reaction you and the rest of the Pogues would have if he just knocked on the door. But he did anyways. 

John B got up and answered the door and almost immediately he closed the door, except Rafe was quicker. “What the fuck are you doing here?” John B asked. “I came to talk to Y/N.” Rafe answered. 

John B turned his head, probably to look at you, before shaking his head no. “She doesn’t want to talk to you.” He said. “Please.” Rafe begged. 

You groaned and rolled your eyes before getting up off the couch. “You have five minutes. Unless this is another dare then you can fuck off.” You snapped. “It’s not I promise.” He said. 

Reluctantly, you stepped outside and closed the front door. The two of you walked a ways away from the Chateau. “Five minutes.” You repeated. 

“I’m an asshole. I really am and I fucked up. I shouldn’t have agreed to that stupid dare. I actually really like you, Y/N.
