Weak Hero Character Names
For those who don't know, the Weak Hero webtoon anglicized a bunch of the characters' first names from Korean to English. They don't do this for newly introduced characters anymore AFAIK, but all the names they anglicized initially have been kept that way.
Since I've gotten a few people asking about the names, so I decided to compile a list of their original Korean names. You can find amost of these on their character profiles on the Weak Hero fandom page, but I figured people would appreciate having a quick reference that is all in one place. Hopefully this helps people learn/connect their original names.
Remember, this is not a full character list, it's for finding the Korean names of the characters that had their names anglicized.
The format will be:
Anglicized Name -> Korean Name (common alternative romanizations will be in parenthesis)
Eunjang High
Alex Go -> Go Hyeontak (Hyun-tak)
Ben Park -> Park Humin (Hoo-min)
Colton Choi -> Choi Hyoman (Hyo-man)

What is Arthdal Chronicles about?
Tumblr media
(Photo : tvN Drama Official) Lee Joon Gi Arthdal Chronicles is a fantasy drama that tells the story of the mythical land of Arth, where different kingdoms and tribes coexist. The drama explores the themes of power, love, identity, and destiny through the lives of its main characters. The first season of Arthdal Chronicles consisted of three parts: The Children of Prophecy, The Sky Turning Inside Out Rising Land, and The Prelude to All Legends. It followed the journey of Eun Seom (Song Joong Ki), an Igutu who was born with a blue star-shaped mark on his hand. He was prophesied to bring disaster to Arthdal, the capital city of the Arthdal Union. He grew up among the Wahan tribe, a peaceful clan that lived in harmony with nature. He met Tan Ya (Kim Ji Won), a girl who had a similar mark on her hand and was destined to become the high priestess of the Wahan tribe.
Tumblr media
(Photo : Allure Korea Official) Meanwhile, Ta Gon (Jang Dong Gun) was the ambitious leader of the Saenyeok tribe, a powerful clan that conquered other tribes with their superior weapons and skills. He was also born with a mark on his hand, but he hid it from others. He had a vision of becoming the first king of Arthdal. He was aided by Tae Al Ha (Kim Ok Bin), a brilliant woman who was the daughter of the head of the Hae tribe, a wealthy clan that controlled trade and technology in Arthdal. The first season depicted how Eun Seom’s fate intertwined with Ta Gon’s ambition, as well as how Tan Ya’s destiny affected Tae Al Ha’s plans. The season ended with several cliffhangers: Eun Seom escaped from slavery and became the leader of the Ago tribe; Tan Ya became the high priestess of Arthdal; Ta Gon declared himself as king; Tae Al Ha gave birth to Ta Gon’s son; Sa Ya (also played by Song Joong Ki), Eun Seom’s twin brother who was separated at birth, woke up from his coma; and Cha Eun (Choo Ja Hyun), a Neanderthal woman who raised Eun Seom and Sa Ya, revealed herself to be alive.

THE MASTER’S SUN // KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU
UYARI : Yazılar genel olarak spoiler içerebilir. İçermeyedebilir.
İmdb puanı:8,2 Benim puanım:8
Drama: The Master's Sun
Hangul:
Director: Jin Hyeok
Writer: Hong Jung-Eun, Hong Mi-Ran
Episodes: 17
Date: 2013
Language: Korean
Country: South Korea
Cast: So Ji-Sub, Kong Hyo-Jin, Seo In-Guk, Kim Mi-Kyung,
2013 SBS Drama Awards - December 31, 2013
Best Actor (mini series) (So Ji-Sub)
Special Actress (mini series) (Kim Mi-Kyung)
Ten Star Award (So Ji-Sub)
New Star Award (Seo In-Guk)
Her rolünde küçük Emrah bakışlarını asla bırakmayan So Ji-Sub, burada farklı çekim teknikleri denemek istemelerinden olsa gerek yakın çekimlerde bol bol mimik kullanmak zorunda kalmış.
‘’ 꺼져 ‘’ (ggoco);  fuck of, go away, defol gibi bir anlamı var.
Doom at your service dizisinin karizmatik başrol oyuncusu Seo In Guk bu dizide ikinci adam olarak karşımıza çıkıyor.

The Producers
Tumblr media

Squid Game: Best of the Cast’s Shows and Movies to Watch
https://ift.tt/39n8nzK
This Squid Game article contains some spoilers, though not the outcome of the game.
There are so many things to like about Squid Game, Netflix‘s Korean-language series about a group of desperate people competing in a deadly game, but one of the major ones is the stellar cast. Featuring some well-known Korean actors, as well as some relative newcomers to the acting scene, Squid Game‘s ensemble is more than ready to elevate the clever script and sharp direction. If you’re interested in checking out other projects from this cast after finishing Squid Game, here are our recommendations!
Lee Jung-jae (이정재) as Seong Gi-hun
Squid Game character: Leading the cast of characters is Lee Jung-jae’s Gi-hun, a man who has fallen on tough times after losing his job and his marriage. We are first introduced to Gi-hun in the context of his gambling addiction, as he desperately trues to get out of crippling debt in order to be a better father, son, and friend.
What to watch next: Lee Jung-jae is a 48-year-old actor who began his career as a model before transitioning into TV and later film. Notable projects include Il Mare, the 2000 film on which Hollywood’s The Lake House was based and 2013’s historical drama The Face Reader, in which Lee has second-billing as Grand Prince Suyang.
Jung Ho-yeon (정호연) as Kang Sae-byeok
Squid Game character: Jung Ho-yeon plays Kang Sae-byeok (aka the one who looks like ENHYPEN’s Ni-ki), a North Korean defector who decides to play Squid Game in order to get the money to get her mother out of North Korea and to create a stable life for her younger brother, who is currently living in an orphanage.
What to watch next: Jung Ho-yeon will no doubt be one of the breakout stars of Squid Game. The 27-year-old actress is a successful model, and has previously appeared on Korea’s Next Top Model. Squid Game is her first on-screen role, so we’ll have to wait to see what she does next. In the meantime, you can rewatch Squid Game or check out Season 4 of Korea’s Next Top Model.
Park Hae-soo (박해수) as Cho Sang-woo
Squid Game character: Cho Sang-woo grew up with protagonist Gi-hun, and is the success story of his neighborhood after going to a prestigious university and making it big as a businessman. Unbeknownst to Gi-hun and Sang-woo’s mother, Sang-woo has stolen money from his clients and is wanted by the police. He enters Squid Game in an attempt to make back the money so that he can save his mother’s business and house, both of which he risked to back his illegal activities.

By Kayti Burt
What to watch next: Park Hae-soo is a 39-year-old actor who is perhaps previously best known, especially to international audiences, for his starring role in 2017’s Prison Playbook (one of our Best Korean Dramas to Watch on Netflix). In the drama, Park plays a baseball player who unexpectedly lands himself in jail days before his major league baseball debut. The show follows his life within prison, along with the lives of other inmates and guards, including his former best friend, who is now a corrections officer. Prison Playbook is one of the most popular K-dramas ever.
Wi Ha-joon (위하준) as Hwang Jun-ho
Squid Game character: Wi Ha-joon plays Hwang Jun-ho, who is a bit of an outlier character in a series that mostly features characters in the game as protagonists. Unlike Gi-hun or Sang-woo, Jun-ho is a cop who is investigating Squid Game after finding one of the game’s calling cards in his missing brother’s apartment. He does a pretty good job too, infiltrating the operation in diverse ways.
What to watch next: Wi is a 30-year-old actor with a solid filmography. If you’re a horror fan, check out Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, a 2018 found footage horror film that takes place in the former Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital, considered to be one of Korea’s most-haunted places. You could also check out Midnight, a 2021 thriller in which Wi plays a serial killer. If you’re looking for something a bit softer, Wi has a supporting role in 2018 romantic drama Something in the Rain, in which he stars as one protagonist’s younger brother and the other protagonist’s best friend.
Oh Young-soo (오영수) as Oh Il-nam
Squid Game character: Oh Young-soo plays Oh Il-nam, the oldest contestant in Squid Game, and someone Gi-hun feels some responsibility for as the game progresses.
What to watch next: Oh Young-soo is a 76-year-old actor with a filmography that mostly includes monk roles. His previous work has mostly included playing supporting roles, but if you want to see him in something else, check out 2003 feature film A Little Monk, about a generation of three monks living in one temple, or Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring, a 2003 film about the life of a Buddhist monk.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Heo Sung-tae as Jang Deok-su
Squid Game character: Heo Sung-tae plays Jang Deok-su, a gangster who enters Squid Game to settle his gambling debts, and who refuses to trust anyone in the process.
What to watch next: Heo Sung-tae is a 43-year-old actor with an extensive filmography. If you’d like to see him in a very different project, check out Racket Boys, a recent Netflix K-drama in which he appears as the coach of a boys badminton team in Episodes 10-12. If you’d like to see him in another dastardly role, check out 2021’s Beyond Evil, in which he plays a cold-blooded businessman.
Kim Joo-ryung (김주령) as Han Mi-nyeo
Squid Game character: Kim Joo-ryung stars as Han Mi-nyeo, a woman who will say or do whatever she has to in order to find her best chance at winning. Originally introduced claiming to be a new mother, we never actually learn that much about Mi-nyeo’s life outside of the game.
What to watch next: Kim Joo-ryung is a 45-year-old actress with an extensive filmography, though mostly in supporting roles. (Hopefully, her impressive turn in Squid Game will lead to more opportunities for the actress.) If you’d like to see her in a minor role in a successful drama, Kim appears in Episodes 16 and 17 of 2018 historical drama Mr. Sunshine. If you’d like to see Kim in a central role, check out 2012 feature Sleepless Night, in which she plays one half of a married couple working to get through daily life.
Tripathi Anupam as Abdul Ali
Squid Game character: Tripathi Anupam plays Ali, a 33-year-old Pakistani man who joins the game in order to get the money to support his family, including his parents and brother back in Pakistan and his wife and baby son, who traveled with him to Korea.
What to watch next: Tripathi Anupam is a 32-year-old Indian-born actor, who is another standout in Squid Game and a rare actor of non-Korean descent in the Korean TV and film industry. Anupam had a small appearance in Netflix’s Korean sci-fi feature Space Sweepers, in which he appeared as James Sullivan’s secretary. Most of Anupam’s previous roles have been minor, with Squid Game being a breakout role for the actor.
Lee Yoo-mi (이유미) as Ji-yeong
Squid Game character: Lee Yoo-mi plays Ji-yeong, a young woman who we find out entered the game immediately after having been released from prison for the crime of killing her abusive father. She becomes close with Sae-byeok, who recruits her to join her team for tug-of-war.
What to watch next: Lee Yoo-mi is a 27-year-old actress who has appeared in many TV shows and films, mostly in supporting roles. If you’d like to see her in another drama, check out 365: Repeat the Year, a time travel drama that sees 10 people given the chance to travel back a year to “reset” their lives, only to find themselves in danger.
Gong Yoo (공유) as The Salesman
Squid Game character: Gong Yoo appears in a minor role as The Salesman, aka the man who recruits Gi-hun into Squid Game by playing a game of ddakji with him on the subway
What to watch next: Gong Yoo is a very successful actor in Korea who is also known internationally. The 42-year-old actor’s most well-known movie role is Train To Busan, in which he stars as the divorced father and businessman protagonist trying to escape the zombie apocalypse on a high-speed bullet train. His most well-known TV role is in the uber successful Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, one of the highest-rated dramas in Korean TV history. In it, he stars as a 939-year-old immortal goblin and protector of souls. Longtime K-drama stans, however, probably know Gong from his starring role in Coffee Prince, a romance about a woman pretending to be a girl in order to get work and a young food empire mogul, played by Gong.
Lee Byung-hun as The Front Man, aka In-ho
Squid Game character: Lee Byung-hun plays the Front Man, aka the masked man who runs the day-to-day operations of Squid Game. He lives in a fancy apartment within the game’s facility, and maintains contact with the game’s supervisors via a landline.
What to watch next: If you’re looking to see more of Lee Byung-hun’s face than Squid Game offers, then you have a lot of options. The 51-year-old actor and singer has been a part of the Korean entertainment industry for decades, and has been one of the most successful Korean actors in that time, with five films on the 50 highest-grossing domestic films in South Korea list: Joint Security Area; The Good, the Bad, the Weird; Masquerade; Inside Men; and Master.
Lee is the only Squid Game actor to have some substantial Hollywood credits on his filmography as well. American audiences may recognize him from his role as Storm Shadow in the G.I. Joe franchise; he has also appeared in Red 2, Terminator Genisys, and The Magnificent Seven. A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, he was the first South Korean to present an Oscar at the Academy Awards.

Things That Appear in Most Romance / Romantic Comedy Kdramas
Disclaimer: this will contain spoilers of plot points listed below as I will be using examples from different dramas to back up my statements
Romance / Romantic Comedy: W, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Guardian: The Lonely And Great God, While You Were Sleeping, Pinocchio, Love Alarm etc (these are just some I know about)
I will also include parts from Love Unexpected 2022 (a Cdrama) where I think it fits too.
Key of included dramas: W (W), Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (SWDBS), Guardian: The Lonely And Great God (GTLAGG), While You Were Sleeping (WYWS), Pinocchio (P), Love Alarm (LA), Just Between Lovers (JBL), Doom At Your Service (DAYS), Love Unexpected (LU)
SPOILERS AHEAD
1 -> Love triangles (obvious or subtle)
~ (W) Pretty obvious between Kang Cheol, Yeon Joo and So Hee. Kang Cheol and So Hee and Kang Cheol were the fated lovers, as almost male lead and female lead characters within the comic, but when Yeon Joo arrives, that romance turns into a triangle, with So Hee being the one to miss out
~ (SWDBS) Not obvious at first but eventually becomes an extremely obvious love triangle between Bong Soon, Min Hyeok and Gook Doo. It’s not initially obvious due to the fact that Gook Doo is trying to keep his current relationship in tact, while suffering due to a long-term love. The only visible romance bridge at this point is Bong Soon’s crush on Gook Doo (and possibly Min Hyeok’s disgust). It then progresses to Gook Doo breaking up with Hee Ji and actively seeking out Bong Soon, as well as Min Hyeok releasing subtle hints that he also has feelings for her. This is where the triangle really begins, and its Gook Doo who misses out, although he does so graciously and continues to maintain a great relationship with Bong Soon
I almost see it as having 2 triangles running simultaneously, the Bong Soon, Min Hyeok, Gook Doo triangle as the main one, but a Hee Ji, Gook Doo, Gong Gi triangle at the beginning too, making it compliated as a side triangle
~ (GTLAGG) I wouldn’t even call this a love triangle really, but the jealousy displayed is funny either way. There is a point where Eun Tak bumps into her first love Tae Hee. She wants to spend more time with Tae Hee, having had feelings for him for a very long time, to the horror of goblin.
~ (WYWS) It was not the most obvious thing but the triangle that is Hong Joo, Jae Chan and Woo Tak is definitely sweet. Woo Tak was obviously the one to miss out, considering I think everyone but Hong Joo knew about his feeling for her, but he never openly admitted it to her. It was very sweet though, as he clearly understood that although he has feelings for her, her heart lies with Jae Chan and it was still good to remain as best friends. I think I should also mention Hwang Mi here too
~ (P) This is an odd one because there are many instances that may or may not be different love triangles. You could argue an In Ha, Dal Po, Chan Soo love triangle while they were in school, in Dal Po’s case shown by his determination to show up Chan Soo in the game show. You can also argue a Dal Po, In Ha, Yoo Rae triangle, though realistically Yoo Rae was never going to come out on top. In Beom Jo’s case, his intentions were clear, so I don’t see him in a triangle really
~ (LA) I think the triangle is the most obvious of the dramas listed here. The drama between Jo Jo, Sun Oh and Hye Yeong is very clear from the start.
~ (JBL) Although the feelings of both Moon Soo and Kang Doo continuously change, there is a very clear triangle between Moon Soo, Kang Doo and Joo Won throughout the series. Joo Won is the person that misses out in this triangle, which is a shame really considering how much he tried to truly show his feelings for Moon Soo
~ (LU) This love triangle is also extremely subtle but there nonetheless. The love between Fan Fan and Ruo Chen is clear but its not until later that we find out about Qin Yang’s feelings.
~ (DAYS) This love triangle was a secondary storyline, which I thought was quite different to the normal triangles you typically see. It is also very messy, and very unclear a lot of the times as Ji Na’s feelings about both Hyeon Gyu and Joo Ik are extremely unpredictable at time.
2 -> Main characters trying to break up with their partner due to the feeling of putting them in danger
~ (SWDBS) Bong Soon tries to break up Min Hyeok because she feels that because she is uniquely strong, she is a danger to him (which is quite evident from past incidents). I mean she had already broken his foot by stepping on it and injured secretary Gong. There was also the knife incident but I currently can’t remember whether this is before she tries to break up with him or after this incident occurs.
~ (LU) When Fan Fan wakes up from fainting (after Qin Yang’s accident), she immediately leaves because she knows that it was partially her fault that they were in that situation in the first place and considering that during her time in 2012 she’d had both Ruo Chen and Qin Yang in hospital because of her (because they were saving her), it meant she saw herself as a danger.
~ (W) I’m not sure this really counts but I feel like the whole situation where Yeon Joo rewrites their whole past as a dream (although under Kang Cheol’s instruction) is similar to them breaking up to limit the element of danger that they would bring, to not only people in the real world but limit the danger to the characters within the comic
~ (WYWS) Again I know this is not exactly the same as the characters breaking up due to danger, but I think it’s similar enough. By this I’m referencing when Jae Chan tells Hong Joo that he chooses not to believe her mainly due to his responsibilities as a prosecutor, but also because if they believed in the dreams and it went wrong, he questioned whether Hong Joo would be able to deal with the consequences
3 -> Characters getting injured (weapon or not) in the place of another character
~ (SWDBS) This scenario occurs when Kwang Bok (who was hiding) appears and runs over to stab Bong Soon in the back. Seeing this occur, Min Hyeok runs over and gets stabbed instead, ensuring that Bong Soon was safe while sustaining an injury which thankfully wasn’t too bad
~ (GTLAGG) Although this is slightly different again, I see goblin’s sacrifice when he uses Eun Tak to pull the sword out as this kind of thing. At the time, Joong Hoon is roaming with the intention to cause disputes and choas, and also to kill both Eun Tak and Sunny. Goblin sacrificed himself by removing the sword, and therefore in the process made sure both his sister and his bride stayed safe from possible harm
~ (WYWS) Again its slightly different but I’d categorise it in the same way. When Hong Joo and Woo Tak were looking for Dae Hee after putting different pieces of evidence together. Woo Tak  gets stabbed and eventually gets badly beaten up, and after Hong Joo comes in to grab Cho Hee, he grabs Dae Hee’s legs, leading to him getting beaten up more, so they could get away safetly.
~ (LU) A similar thing happens that occurs in SWDBS, nearly identical. After Ruo Chen and Qin Yang had rescued the two Fan Fan’s from Yi Xiao’s father, Ruo Chen and Fan Fan embraced, for Yi Xiao’s father to then grab a knife and head to stab Fan Fan (as her back was to him) Ruo Chen noticed this and swung around to be stabbed himself, leaving himself in a poor condition for Fan Fan’s safety
~ (Doom At Your Service) This is another unusual one for many reason I will list. A criminal had faked being passed out and grabbed a scalpel from the back of the ambulance he was riding in and attempted to stab Doom (as he had got in his way numerous times). Dong Kyeong saw what was happening and swiftly turned around to block him getting stabbed. Before that could happen Doom grabbed the blade, so Dong Kyeong wouldn’t get stabbed either. Like what I talked about with Goblin, a similar situation also occurs here, where doom disappears so Dong Kyeong can survive and cure her cancer
4 -> Tragic backstories
~ (W) Kang Cheol’s backstory is tragic, as a random hooded individual randomly kills his whole family, while years later he gets framed for
~ (SWDBS) It’s slightly different but I see Min Hyeok’s backstory as kind of tragic, having lost his mum and being bullied by his half sibling as he was growing up.
~ (GTLAGG) Eun Tak’s backstory is very tragic, as she grew up all her life seeing deceased people, but tragically lost her mum when she was 9. She was able to see her mum for the last time because of her ability to see the deceased but its tagic nonetheless. She then had to grow up getting abused by her aunt and cousins, and also being tracked down by a grim reaper.
~ (WYWS) Both main characters have a tragic backstory. Jae Chan got into a lot of trouble with his dad (the police chief) for a motorbike accident and faked report cards (though it was really Lee Yoo Beom’s doing). He then heard his dad apologise for being too harsh after the incident when his mum had kicked the two of them out. Jae Chan’s dad was later shot to death by a runaway soldier, as he tried to apprehend him. That runaway soldier then boarded the bus that Hong Joo’s dad was driving. Her dad sacrificed himself and saved his daughter and all of the other people on the bus by getting them off safely before the bus blew up. That soldier was the younger brother of investigator Choi, who felt guilty for not being supportive enough of his brother and because of the hurt his brother cause, attempted to kill himself. They all had a lot of trauma in their pasts
~ (P) Ha Myeong (Dal Po) had a very traumatic event happen to their family, where his father (the fire chief) was killed in an explosion where they were trying to put out a fire. They didn’t find his body for days later and the blame was put on his father for the whole incident, which put a lot of blame on his family and even led to his mum killing himself and trying to kill him with her, leading to him ending up in his adoptive family.
~ (LA) Kim Jojo had a very tragic backstory, where she only just escaped alive when her parents tried to kill the three of them in a suicide attempt. She constantly gets backlash for her dark past, which doesn’t make the trauma any easier to get over.
~ (LU) I’m not entirely sure this counts because it’s very unclear what did or did not happen in this series but Fan Fan (pre time travel) had quite a traumatic past after her mum was involved in a fire when she was 12, and spent the next twelve years in a coma, where she was constantly struggling to find ways to pay for her hospital bills

The Silent Sea:
12/24/2021:
Merry Christmas Eve!
This 2021 8-episode series starts out like a “B”movie, but as each episode progressed, it began to feel like the Alien/Aliens series of movies. It’s on the moon (Balhae Lunar Research Station) and a team is sent to retrieve a sample of something which the higher ups will not disclose to them.
Five years previously at the moon station something happened that killed all of the 117 crewmembers. The official result was that they all died from radiation.
Well, of course, our crew ends up having a mishap that caused them to crash 7 miles from the moon station. They got out safely, just before their ship slides off the cliff into a deep chasm.
Just before they reached the station, the consultant’s, Mr. Hwang, oxygen runs out and he dies. The others barely made it in time to hook up to the oxygen supply.
While looking for the samples they start finding bodies from the original crew, but they all look like they had drowned (the team cannot find any evidence of a radiation leak).
While reaching over a dead body to retrieve a sample case, Gong Soo-Chan falls onto the body’s abdomen making water droplet spores come out of its mouth and, of course, our crewmember breathes it in and gets it in his eyes. As the team walked back to the control center, Soo-Chan started having trouble breathing. Suddenly water began to forcibly spray out of his mouth and it continued and continued and continued, causing him to die.
At the same time Gi-Su found a sample and as he was leaving the storage unit he was grabbed by something, pulled up to the ceiling and choked to death.
Now that’s three dead crew members 😢.

SQUID GAME
Nama drama: Squid game
Jumlah episode: 9 (kurleb 45 menit)
Genre: Survival, mystery, thriller
Rating pribadi: 8/10
Ibunya memberi uang 10 ribu own untuk menghadiahkan cucunya.
Bagus? I will say yes, untuk ukuran korea yang sepertinya jarang sekali membuat drama survival seperti ini. Selain itu, banyak kontroversi yang menyebutkan kalau drama ini dianggap plagiat dari film jepang berjudul "as God will" karena mirip dengan tema survival dan memainkan game tradisional. Aku sendiri belum tonton as God will, tapi dari komentar orang-orang sepertinya memang mirip. So, happy watching!
