Anyway, this character was drawn with the exact features that I have as a fat person. I have large hips, huge thighs, a round, soft stomach that slightly hangs with slender arms. But yeah, yes. It's so neat to take the fat body type that is typically one of the most fetishizable IRL by chasers along with fat pear shapes & hourglass shapes. There is barely any diversity of fat bodies in wolfertinger's art, and when a fat person criticizes the fetishism and the artist spreading fatphobic rhetoric on a post that has reached 1k-2k people who agree in unison with him, that is concerning to me as a fat person on how people, both fat and thin, see IRL people like me who have this exact body type. I have gotten fetishized before IRL by freaks who wanted to see me eat a lot and wear cow outfits or live out their fat milf-y maid girl fantasy. Like idfk. Salem and his gf are weird for this one. Their responses to me felt very inappropriate and dismissive, and then the harassment I have gotten where my criticism / opinion pretty much got shot down is pretty disgusting to do to a fat person, especially a fat person who HAS experienced this level of fetishism because they have this exact body type IRL. And idk what Salem looks like and quite frankly IDGAF. The same concept would exist if I was drawing fetish art of people who had an "apple shape body" aka a body I do not have, who experiences the most fatphobic discrimination compared to me at the current, especially if they are larger than I am. The bigger you are, the worse the fatphobia gets, and fat people honestly think they are immune to fatphobia against other fat people like be so fr. Fat fetishists who happen to be fat think they're immune to dehumanizing and sexualizing a fat person just for existing bc it "gets their rocks off." especially when that fat person has an "ideal" body shape or traits that are seen conventionally attractive. But yeah, lets like. Go the RCDart route with fat characters and draw every fat character ever in revealing clothing and emphasize their hips and breasts, and make their waist notably smaller than their hips and ass. That isn't diversity, that's fetish shit.

Oh oh I actually sort of know the Skunkblood (Jesse) stuff that happened I think? They were actually called out quite a while back for straight up stealing designs from people - I remember a friend of mine told me a year or so ago that they were directly approached by a staff member in an unrelated species Skunkblood was active in notifying them that a design they owned got ripped off by Skunkblood and made in the Zipperguts CS. They were asked by that staff member not to share screens though.

i'm putting another ask in this one to answer your point but it is found skunkblood copies designs, and has seemed to copy not only IP designs but also designs from others. I'll look into it more and compile them so if anyone has any they know is a copy from another species feel free to lmk

usually when I see artists actually get harassed on here it’s because they drew a fan favorite with dark skin or got rid of an over complicated and over sexualized outfit, or had maybe a more unconventional style - and it’s cruel and unjustified however someone making fun of you for drawing teenagers like pin-up girls or people making fun of RCDart for their overblown stereotypes of trans bodies and racial caricatures is nothing compared to what the flak innocent artists receive for harmless headcanons

Rcdart was this popular marvel fan artist whose art depleted so much in quality over the years to the point where it’s almost sickening to look at. Now I’m one of the few people that believes ugly artstyles can have their charm, but Rory’s felt so….. uninspired. Like anybody could copy it because it lacked so much character. It’s as if they were trying so hard to mimic Steven Universe’s style but sucked all the soul out of it in the process.

However, their notoriety came from them being a giant egomaniac. They paraded themselves around like they were god’s gift to art and were nasty to their followers, like making unnecessarily snarky remarks to asks and posting screenshots of private messages on twitter to make them look like idiots. Not to mention their constant bragging about how they got into CalArts.

There was also the matter of their transman fetish. Headcanoning a character as trans and drawing art to support it is one thing, but Rory went to a dark, disgusting place with theirs. The most notable being their trans Captain America that was a “cock-loving slut who doesn’t feel like wearing a binder because he actually loves his body uwu uwu uwu” Basically they were one of those people who tried to justify their actions by claiming it was all for the sake social justice and anybody who called them out for being gross was just a mean ol’ anti-sjw :(((((( They thought that as long as they sprinkled a little “progressiveness” here and there, they could get away with drawing men with huge tits and big feminine thighs.

Also they had a nsfw blog that I had the misfortune of stumbling upon one time and it was….. honestly nauseating…

People slowly began realizing how much of a dick they were around 2016, but it wasn’t until they posted their drawing of Finn from the new Star Wars movies on twitter that they were officially knocked off their throne. The problem with the drawing was um…. well you can look at it for yourself. There was also their drawing of Kylo Ren that was laughably hideous, which they tried defending by being like “so? he’s already ugly lol” But they eventually deleted both drawings due to all the negative backlash.

After that, no one was dealing with their bullshit anymore and they eventually fell off the internet altogether, which is probably for the best. I think all the attention really got to their head and ultimately lead them to shooting themselves in the foot.

The funny thing about this video is that the person who made it got some good points, like the way white artists who draw characters of color often end up drawing racist caricatures or cis artists often draw trans characters in a feticistic way, but they use this as just a way to say “DONT EVER DRAW WHITE CHARACTERS AS BLACK OR CIS CHARACTERS AS TRANS” (wich is what every anti sjw ever did, using unfortunate shitty artists like rcdart as an example of “sjw tumblr art” and how everyone on tumblr draws like that).

i obvs took a lot of inspiration from rcdart when i was developing my art style. i like to exaggerate shapes and body types in similar ways as them (before they got. yknow. fetishy and racist.) 

that being said, i try to be incredibly mindful of how i draw and portray certain bodytypes, genders, races and cultures and like. i dont want this to be seen as patting myself on the back, i just dont want to make the same gargantuan mistakes as someone my art keeps getting compared to. im open to criticism on those if you feel i can improve, but vague and shady comments in the replies wont help me. theyre just kinda mean?

i dunno. i’m just a guy out here. and sometimes weird comments hurt my feewings :(

I just checked out their blog and I don't see the issue either? Their art style is a well known over exaggerated comics style. If you've read any comics art history you'd see this is a commonly used style.

I’m relieved you���re with me on this, I didn’t want to upset you with my opinion. Not that I was afraid of giving it but, you know, it’s never pleasant to disagree about something that causes grief.

So, yeah. I mean, I get having your dysphoria triggered, I really do. I block posts that talk about T for cripes’ sakes! But I don’t see the problem with this art.

I’ve tried to deconstruct the criticisms and failed. I feel weird about this because there seems to be a very strong consensus among trans guys on tumblr about this being fetishising, but I don’t see it.

Trying to see it always runs me up against several personal policies I’ve tried to uphold.

1. not to police body expression. The drawings depict characters clearly proud of their appearance and comfortable with it.

2. not to support the enforcement of a gender binary. Trans men can and do have large hips and large chests and that is not shameful. I can’t stand for the argument that drawing a trans person like this is unquestionably bad.

3. not to treat sexualisation as inherently bad or discriminative. 

4. not to police expression of mental state. This is particulary in response to the criticism of their description of trans!Steve as dysphoric, and yet exposing his cleavage. As someone who experiences dysphoria, it was actually nice to see a character with this duality. I don’t always have the opportunity to completely conceal my body, and in those situations I have to deal with the dysphoria somehow. Aggressively reminding myself that I do not have anything to be ashamed of is something that can work.  I’ve also been told the artist has called the characters ‘sluts’ and ‘hoes’...which is not something I appreciate, but it’s not exactly an uncommon joke across fandoms, to headcanon kinks and fetishes onto characters, place them in sexually charged situations and use even these kind of offensive words as pet names. I see it all the time, it’s not my jive and I have problems with it, but because it’s so common I can’t point out this one artist and claim it is proof of their transphobia. It’s likely to be a case-by-case basis, with art. There’s pin-ups that are objectifying and demeaning, and there’s pin-ups that don’t offer the subject up to the viewers that way, but depict them as beings with their own agency.  In rcdart’s drawings, I see individuals with agency.
