My second Dani x Grace commission for @echojulietfoxtrot ! This one was definitely a struggle because the straightforward nature of it haha- very easy to feel "off" and not so easy to problem solve! (thankfully I was able to consult with IG @/ jessDollArt)

Fic starts below the cut

Grace tried to quiet the sounds of her pained gasps as she huddled in the cockpit of the C5. Sarah, Carl, and Dani were still collecting themselves in the cargo bay of the plane, ensuring that all is in order after that extremely close call with the REV-9.

Despite being hidden away in the cockpit to get the plane off the ground, while the others took care of the imposing machine, Grace still managed to get herself injured. While commandeering Carl's van into the airspace, one of the REV-9's plethora of shots fired landed just under Grace's right rib.

She had managed to keep herself quiet for long enough, but the internal bleeding had seeped up into the lung, causing a little wheezing sound each time Grace took a breath in. She would be fine, she knew that much for sure, but that didn't mean she felt fine.

When she heard the light and delicate footsteps that could only belong to Dani, Grace composed herself and sucked in a deep breath.

"How's it going in here?" Dani asked, her face being surrounded by the blue and orange glow the moment she stepped in.

Grace, knowing that if she said anything the wheeze in her voice would come out, just nodded.

Dani's lips curled into a frown, "What's wrong, Grace?"

Holding her breath, Grace squeaked out an, "I'm fine" that she hoped would be drowned out by the loud roar of the engine that still made its way into the cockpit through the thick steel walls.

"Come on," Dani said, "you know I don't-" her gasp was confirmation that Grace's ruse was up. She let out a breath, wheezing freely into the air.

"You're hurt." Dani said, as if it wasn't obvious.

"I'm fine." Grace said.

Dani marched towards Grace, kneeling down next to the chair of which Grace was slumped into. She reached out, touching the wet fabric of Grace's shirt. How convenient that she had been shot in the small area that her vest didn't cover.

"It's bleeding." Dani said.

"I'm fine." Grace repeated, "my body has been built to handle a lot more than a little gunshot wound."

"At least just let me clean it." Dani said, looking at the blood residue on her fingers.

Breathing in quick, shallow breaths, Grace squeezed her eyes shut for a moment, composing herself, "How are you gonna do that?"

Dani rose to her feet, "I think I saw a..." she took a few long strides over to the doorway and opened up a First-Aid-Kit that had been bolted to the wall. "Here."

Grace leaned over and clicked the 'auto pilot' button. She knew there wasn't any way to talk Dani out of it, and started losing interest in wanting to, so she undid the Velcro of her vest and lifted the fabric of her shirt to expose the wound.

"Luckily, this kit has tweezers." Dani walked back over to where Grace sat, getting back down on one knee so she could get closer to the grizzly wound. "Stay still?"

One hand still on the front console, Grace gripped the side of her chair and nodded, "Just don't mess around in there."

Grace had to grind her teeth together to keep from making any pained noises while Dani stuck a sterilized pair of tweezers into the wound hole. She was very much still in touch with her humanity, which allowed her to admit that she felt pain, too, but not in front of Dani. For her, she needed to steel herself.

"Got it." Dani said, but Grace could feel that. She couldn't help the gasp of breath as Dani pulled out the bullet, then dropped it on the cockpit floor with a metallic clack.

A feeling of pained relief washed over Grace as she watched Dani sanitized a cotton ball before dabbing it against the wound, cringing as she heard Grace hiss out her pain, "Sorry. I'm sorry. Almost done."

With nothing to do while she waited, Grace just looked down at Dani, admiring the features on her face as they twisted together in focus. Even though her whole face was narrowed and attentive, she still had a gentle beauty that made Grace forget the pain burning along her side. If Grace got treated to this view every time she got hurt, maybe she should get banged up a bit more often...

"All done." Dani said, smoothing out the fresh bandage, "we can change it in a few hours."

Looking down, Grace was rather impressed, "Nice work."

"Believe it or not," Dani said, "I've done this quite a few times before."

Grace furrowed her eyebrows, curious.

"I work- uh, -worked in a car factory," Dani said, "lots of heavy machinery. People have a way of getting hurt."

The smile on Grace's face was a little sad, "You're very resourceful, Dani." Just as she worked up the courage to reach out for Dani's hand, Grace heard another pair of footsteps approaching the cockpit, and the severe look on Sarah's face told Grace that what was coming next wasn't going to be good.

Grace would have to postpone that sentiment until the next time she was alone with Dani.

Whenever that would be.

I found this terminator dark fate comic years ago on the Korean postype page months after the premiere of TDF, I downloaded it and translated it with the help of the google translator, unfortunately the author deleted this comic from that page, and the original no longer exists, the author is https://ddogfate.postype.com/ PS: I only upload this comic without any intention of awarding myself this wonderful job, I only try to publicize more TDF things made by fans for fans, if the author comes and asks me to download this comic, I will gladly do so PS 2: if someone likes to translate it into English and upload it again, feel free to do so

Terminator: Dark Fate - Augmented Cut.

Format is MKV and the file size is 3.06GB. Mega doesn't seem to like IE, so if you're having trouble try a different browser or switch between Mobile/Desktop.

A little rough around the edges in points, and not all of the changes I'd daydreamed about here were possible (still no Chinese Cut for that "kill you" line 😔) but here's somethin'.

Link and breakdown of changes are under the cut, but it's up to you if you want to know them in advance :D

Night Scenes - Night scenes have been color graded a little to be more in tune with T1 and T2.

Intro - Movie now cuts directly from Sarah's Pescadero video to Grace's arrival.

Truck Chase - Some of the slow motion has been ditched to give the chase more immediacy, and the odd CGI of Grace being flung from the truck has been removed. I think it's a big improvement, if I say so myself, particularly to the rebar impact.

Remove the ADR’d line about Grace’s augments at 38:37 - "You know, enhanced speed and strength, Thorium reactor?". I just think it's awkward.

The imagined Terminator invasion/John’s death from the start of the movie has been moved into the hotel exposition scene - Not the most graceful cut, but the editor did what they could.

Shoulder touch in the bed of the pickup has been added back in - Not as slick as I'd like, but whaddaya gonna do.

The Crossing Deleted Scene - The alternate Border Crossing scene where Dani's uncle is killed has been edited back in, though the reuse of the computer search animation has been removed and some of the slow motion nixed.

CBP Escape - Dani's relief that Grace is alive and the slow motion handhold shot have been edited back in.

Alicia Confronts Sarah Deleted Scene - The deleted scene of Alicia confronting Sarah about Carl has been restored.

Scavenger Flashback/ “Let Me Save You” Deleted Scene - The concluding part of Grace's ruins flashback (forward?) reshoot has been removed, and replaced with Grace's "Let Me Save You" scene. Removing the reshoot takes the "raised me" line out.

"She's John" line has been removed.

Underwater Humvee sequence - This has been edited down and shortened to remove some of the sketchy CGI and present the scene more from the claustrophobic interior POV as they wait for the Rev 9 to attack.

"It will fry his neural net" line has been removed.

"You killed everything I loved" subtitle has been corrected.

Moving forward I will not underestimate how helpful thumbnails are 😂🤣 additional shout out to 3D ear reference.

During research I learned that for the scars the actress had to be spray tanned because her natural skin tone is so pale- the scars are actually just a negative tan line where they removed a latex mask hahaha. They did other stuff too but that bit is just very funny to me

I promise I'll do a sensible post with the TDF mobile game models shortly, but y'all know I can never pass up an opportunity to fuck about.

I, um...I tried loading in a user made pose, and the result was...not great lol. I've exaggerated the level of fuckery a teensy bit, mostly to neaten it up. The top half of her face was literally poking out the back of her head 🤣.

What can I say, I saw an opportunity and I jumped on it. It's my favourite line in the entire movie as you well know.

BONUS:

The only thing lower than the polygon count is the brow of my humour apparently 😋.
