are you planning any challenges for the coming months?
Hello! I would actually love too but I do wonder how many people would be interested (and if the "best days" of studyblr are behind us). In any case, if at least some people show their inclination for a new round of the gradchallenge, I would be happy to host it!

22.02.21. my fiancé and i had to postpone our wedding that was due to take place on the 29th of october back in turkey, and ever since then we've been trying to get the necessary documentation here to be able to get married. today we finally managed to get the last of the documents prior to getting a date, and so im planning for our tiny civil ceremony which will probably take place sometime in April in our garden. due to the current covid regulations, we cannot invite more than 4 people. eh, no matter. it's not like we have any friends or family here.
we will, at some point, have big weddings both in turkey and italy, after covid. this is just for the bureaucratic bit, but that does not mean i cannot make it pretty. im going to create a cute wedding arch out front so we can have some nice memories of the day.

『STARTING A NEW PRODUCTIVITY CHALLENGE』
■ 8月.11日.2019年 〜「day 1┊100dop ♪」
I've done "productivity challenges" in the past, but always end up dropping them after a few wks. If I keep one running for 120 days, it'll last until my fall quarter officially ends (although I think my classes end a little sooner than that). This would help me stay at least minimally productive each day, instead of procrastinating projects until the last minute and then having a lot of work due all in one or two days. This has been a real problem for me this summer, I think just because I'm so physically tired after work and I can't bring myself to do school work everyday. But if I even do just 30 mins or an hour daily, I should have a much easier time getting assignments done. It'll also help me see my progress and tasks everyday. So here's what I got done today.
『プログレス』 ✨ Got my schedule a lot more figured out. Not just for planning my work load, but also upcoming vacation things. ✨ Got laundry done, cleaned up around the apt some. Got ready for work tomorrow. 💮 Worked on my intake forms for Wednesday's class. 💮 Found a few career related events I saved to my calendar (not sure if I'll go but I like having the info). ❗Need to start my TF-CBT course! I want to do at least an hr a wk.

tfw quals get you down and you don’t feel like your brain knows how to math anymore, so you take a break by working on an overdue bday gift for a friend. i am definitely not looking forward to taking the algebra one in three days.
for tomorrow:
start working on algebra cheat sheet
do a timed practice qual for algebra if possible
go outside for god’s sake
i’m serious please go outside
u need to get out of ur apartment at least once each day
get some groceries
chill with pinwheel

gradblrchallenge post five!
week 3 - one more week to go!
- I’ve been on the cusp of a cold all week and thus have slept a lot and not done much work - but that’s fine cause my health is my no. 1 priority!
- however I am feeling 100% and I am off for three days! - I'm doing day trips to Bath and London and I am very excited!
- the only thesis work I’ve done is writing down random thoughts that I get at work in the notes app on my phone - but that’s also fine as it’s been a busy week and I’ve been working hard!
(edit) - I also applied for a volunteer position at the Ashmolean (where I volunteer on Sundays) which involves event planning for the members!

#gradblrchallenge day seven // 11.08.2019
Sunday is off to a lovely start! Since it’s my birthday I’ve taken the time to make my tea in my teapot to increase the ~cozy vibes ~ and I’m going to light my favourite candle too. Today is going to be pretty chill — I have a couple of articles to read, and I’m probably going to read a bit of Julian of Norwich, but that’s it! How is your weekend? Sending everyone restful weekend thoughts :)

#gradblrchallenge 08/25/2019
The past week was completely cannibalized by some non-school things I'm working on (and the aftermath of my 26th birthday cough cough hangover), BUT my advisor is happy with my progress on The Big Paper as of our meeting this week and on board with my general (vague, chaotic) plan for the semester.
It's Sunday and my schedule is packed as of, like, 8 a.m. tomorrow. I just got home from the department's annual welcome back brunch (underwhelming, as usual, but lox bagels!), and I'm *so* torn between spending the rest of the day cleaning my apartment, washing my sheets, working on my calendar, and otherwise getting my ducks in a row for the semester, and gifting myself the gift of drinking the rest of the birthday Hamm's and tattooing myself while I make a dent in my Netflix queue. But the day is young yet and who says I can't do both? Laundry in the machine, trash and recycling taken out, candles lit, beer cracked, dumb lizard (bottom photo) watching on with great skepticism 📚

Gradblr Challenge Days 4 & 5
Finally got those intro notes done! I’m really proud of them, and I’m also glad they’re done, since it means I can move on to reading some Plato.
I also got to tour my new campus with some of the senior folks from my program and the other new folks last night - they all seem super awesome, and I can’t wait to get to know them better! Definitely ready to start classes in a few weeks.

#gradblrchallenge ;; August 22, 2019
Went to my fave coffee shop after class and was able to get 2 1/2 out of 5 readings for next week done plus my PowerPoint for the class I’m teaching tomorrow. Haven’t made any progress on my prospectus or my bibliography but I’m hoping tomorrow I’ll have some time to work on that and email my advisor. I also stupidly volunteered to be treasurer of my gsa even tho this is abt to be the busiest semester of my entire life. I’m stressed already and it’s only the first week of school 😭😭

Hello all! After many delays, I come to you with a new edition of the #gradblrchallenge! Like the original August 2016 challenge, this particular round will focus on creating a support and accountability network for graduate students who run gradblrs.
As before, the general plan for this challenge is not immensely structured. I understand that we all have different needs. Once more, the point is simply to connect with fellow graduate students!
THE GOAL: For most of the month of August, all participants will be asked to commit to at least 3 blog posts a week, detailing their work (assignments, research projects, readings and so on). Moreover, to keep up with the spirit of community, each participant will (try to) comment/reblog or engage in some way with the weekly posts of at least 3 other participants. (For more detailed rules on the structure of the challenge, see this page regularly as it may be updated before the start of the challenge. For more information on the gradblrchallenge itself, see the F.A.Q. page.)
The challenge should start on Monday, August 5th and conclude on Friday, August 30th 2019.
**If you own a gradblr and want to register for the challenge, simply state your interest here. In your request, please include your name (or nickname) with your area of study. (All messages will be kept private.) The last day to register for the challenge is July 31st, 2019!

gradblrchallenge, week 2 (wednesday)
work is going reasonably well. i’ve put all those myths into a (colour-coded!) table, which has really helped me to visualize the data & clearly see emerging patterns. we don’t have all the details for the fragmentary tragedies (obviously), which is slightly irritating when trying to determine patterns, but there’s nothing i can do about that. i also keep finding more & more fragmentary tragedies that involve my topic, which is both annoying, because it feels like i will never be done, but also probably good, because they’ve been largely overlooked by other scholars. i’m finally feeling like things are coming together & i’m getting excited about this chapter again!

AM: Good morning. 🌞 Today's the first day of #gradblrchallenge, but I'm at camp today (I'm a camp counselor this summer for kids w/ developmental & social challenges) so I most likely won't be doing any school work. I'm actually hoping to take a long nap when I get home from work bc I got very little sleep last night and need to catch up to survive the rest of the week. 😴 Last night I got about 70% of my mock client intake forms finished for Wednesday. I haven't done any of the readings for this week though. 😬 I have some catching up to do... PM: Well, I predicted my day pretty accurately. I ended up falling asleep for a couple of hours after I got home! But I did manage to walk a different route home today after work and go to a coffee shop, so that’s nice. I’m glad I’m exploring the area around work so much because there’s a good chance I’ll end up doing my practicum there... 🤔 Tomorrow I’m going to try to get the rest of my intake forms done so that I don’t have as much to do Wednesday before class... Wish me luck. I imagine I’ll be just as tired as today. 😴 💤💤💤 P.S. Please follow my Insta 5am.raining if you like my posts! :)) It needs some love. 😭

#gradblrchallenge [2.1]
i have been slacking off and blaming it on work, but i just saw @emilyatuniversity‘s post in which she mentions working six days a week and still making time for research & am motivated to do better!!
i did go to a cafe on 🍃saturday & spent a few hours there reading & sifting through jstor & co for more sources to help me shape this paper (this is so bad of me, but i don’t feel confident in even mentioning what i am writing on; it’s still early stages and underdeveloped but i also couldn’t sum up my ma paper till after it was written and i was already working on the presentation--and i probably didn’t do a good job even then! if you have any tips on this, they would be very welcome!!). after that, my friend and i went to look through a thrift shop and then spent the evening in a park. it’s my first summer in the city and i was taken aback at how quiet it could get at times.
🍃sunday was a lazy day for me. i don’t even remember what i did for most of it--must have spent a lot of it on the couch, resting & watching movies (finally saw rafiki!!) i only got up quite late in the afternoon and decided i was going to have a fresh start and, inspired by all of you who’ve been posting journal spreads this past week, i picked up my bullet journal again. i haven’t really used it since getting a job, mostly because i no longer have huge swathes of time to structure; instead i try to chip away at tasks with whatever energy i have left in the evenings. but, while i may not be able to fit in as much reading as i’d like, i figured i could still use it this week to try out some habits that might help me out:
no phone in the morning (except to put on music)
read for half an hour as soon as i get back home, then see about dinner & other chores
no thinking about work once i head home, no matter what
shower before 10 pm
get into bed by 11 pm
it’s not a lot, but i’m hoping if i’m consistent things will start falling into place.

gradblrchallenge post one!
- I moved into new accommodation yesterday and today I unpacked and organised everything.
- Booked train tickets to London for next Thursday - planning on visiting the V&A specifically to see the cast gallery and of course a visit to the British Museum is in order! Also seeing a friend that I haven't seen since graduation last year!
- Loads of people at work are on holiday so we’re extra busy and I am running around at 100 mph, I’m coping but its tiring work!
- I did a bit of reading but plan on going to the library tomorrow to pick up some books! The tombstone in the photo is that of Ertola from Corbridge in Northern England, she was four years and sixty days old when she died - I’m planning to write about her tombstone in my thesis!
