JET STAR ONE SHOT FROM MY WATTPAD!!

I love the killjoys sm and i write killjoy fic on my wattpad, but I wanted to share some of the shorter one shots I have written from a collection I made called "Fabulous Killjoy Questions" where it's like a interview thing, where the question is asked to all of them, What is a day you will NEVER forget the answers varied from worst days to meeting a new friend to spending all day with the ones they love.

Huh, I never thought about that. There have been lots of good days and lots of bad ones. I try to let the good days outweigh the bad. But I'll tell the story people ask about the most, and one that really weighs on me today. The day I lost vision in my left eye was one of the crappiest days ever. We were out on a Drac stakeout, nothing out of the ordinary. Girl had brought a book with her and I was helping her read it. It wasn't school but she picked up fast and she's a great reader now. Anyways, we were sitting around when a shot was fired right above our heads. We got up and there were about ten Dracs...and four of us. We started fighting them and it was going pretty good. I got two of them then on the third they punched me in the chest, completely unexpectedly I fell backwards and had the wind knocked out of me.

They stood over me and fired trying to get a point blank shot in my head. I tried knocking the Blasta out of their hand but it ended up firing right into my eye socket. The adrenaline kept me from feeling it for several minutes. I kicked them back and managed to get up before ghosting them. At that same moment Kobra got the last one. I sighed and felt what I thought was sweat dripping down my face and went to wipe it away. I pulled my hand away and saw the blood and that's when I felt it. I sat down and kept wiping the blood off my face, the others had not noticed yet. My hands were shaking and I started to panic as the pain and fear kicked in. It was one of the worst pains I've ever experienced. Kobra was the first to notice.

" Guys! Something's wrong with Jet." He rushed to my side. My hair was in front of my face and he couldn't see what had happened yet. Kobra knelt next to me.

" What's wrong?" He asked me moving my hair to see my face.

" Holy shit! Poison, get the med kit!" He said upon seeing the extent of the injury. I don't think I really said more than a few words at that point. It hurt so bad I couldn't think enough to answer anything they asked. I don't remember a lot right after that. I remember seeing Ghoul who was standing a good distance back from the scene holding Girl who was clearly very upset. I remember Poison pressing gauze into my eye and trying to kick him away from me.

After that I think I passed out for a bit. I remember getting back to the diner where the brothers sat me propped up against the bathtub so they could finish patching up my eye. Poison did most of the work and Kobra was just there for support I guess.

" Want me to tie your hair back?" He asked me quietly. I nodded in response. He got a blue scrunchy hair tie I used when working on the car and put my hair in a loose bun. Poison finished cleaning it out. At this point I couldn't open my eye if I wanted to because it was swollen shut.

" Can you see anything Jet?" Poison asked

I closed my uninjured eye and managed to slightly pry my eye open. Nothing. No light. No shapes. Nothing. Just darkness.

" No." I said. I came to the realization that I was now partially blind and I wasn't even 30.

" I'm- Blind." I said clenching my fists.

Kobra took my hand and un-balled my fists to hold it.

'I'm gonna die aren't I?" I asked knowing that any kind of disability was a major weak point in the zones and most people were easy BL/I targets and didn't live long.

" How can I fight in firefights with one eye?" I asked again while tears poured out of my good eye. (Great I can't even produce tears from that one now)

Poison wrapped his arms around me.

" Jet, I promise you're not gonna die." He said, his voice breaking.

" You'll Still fight as good as before and we won't let anything happen to you." he continued while Kobra squeezed my hand tighter.

" I love you guys." I cried

" We love you too Jet Star." They said almost in unison.

After a few more hugs and reassurance Poison put a sticky patch over my eye until I could get a reusable one. Kobra helped me up and helped me to my bed where I was promptly greeted by Girl. I sat on the edge of my mattress and picked her up to sit next to me.

" You alright sunshine?" I asked

She sniffled before turning to hug me. I hugged her back.

" I'm fine. But you're not." she said sadly

She hugged me for a few minutes before I yawned. Near death experiences sure are tiring. She suddenly got up and ran out of the room.

" Huh... That's weird." I thought while taking off my shoes before laying down.

A few seconds later she came running back in with her teddy bear and hello kitty blanket

She climbed in bed next to me and held out the bear.

" Ghoul helped me do this." She said, showing off the piece of fabric stuck to the bear's eye.

" He looks like you, so you won't be sad." She said proudly

Suddenly I didn't feel too bad about my eye. I smiled and kissed her forehead.

" Thank you." I said

" You're welcome." She said laying the bear next to me and covering me in the hello kitty blanket

" Berry will keep you company." she explained

" Have a good nap Jet. I love you." she said before running off again.

While that was a pretty crappy day I am so grateful to have my little found family to look after me in the worst situations. I know I can always count on them.

I'm ok - I both can't believe it's gonna be the end of January and also can't believe it's still January 😂. Work has not stopped being insane since I took over this new position but I'm thankfully still loving it. And I'm especially loving living in a place where I am no longer dealing with -40 celcius through the winter 😅. I hope your holiday season and start of the new year has been going fabulously for you!

And 5 years? 5 YEARS?! How is that even possible omg 😭😭😭. That calls for a rewatch, I think. My babies 🥹. And the Maxel content yessss! I love you for linking posts thank you! One of my friends thankfully sends me things because I would end up missing them on social media otherwise. Honestly the joy their friendship brings me. 5 years and those boys are still tight. I love them so much. Also the fact that Rocco was looped into their little friend group and we have actual pics of Maxence with Rocco AND Axel? Truly... life has been good to us 😌😂.

And Punzel babies? Well, they're living their happy life together in their flat. Eliott definitely refers to Lucas as his husband even though - as Lucas insists - they're too young to get married. Eliott thinks that's nonsense because he's been waiting what amounts to their entire lives and obviously they're going to be together for life anyways. But for that same reason, he's not too fussed about it - official papers or not, they are married in his mind. They've definitely added to their little fam and have a cat in addition to their pup Pascale. The cat absolutely rules their home (as cats are known to do) and is the only one who can get Pascale to stop being mouthy (Huskies you know 😂). Lucas would definitely complain the cat doesn't like him and play up that they have some sort of nemesis relationship. Only Eliott has caught Lucas curled up asleep on the couch with the kitty on his chest wrapped up in his arms more than once. Eliott would be a little jealous about the fact that he's the one who dotes on the kitty but she still seems to be an utter suck for Lucas... only, he's the exact same way so he can't blame her 😌. Second to Lucas, her fave is Idriss. Because this cat has ✨taste✨. I'm trying to think what they would name their kitty... probably something Rapunzel adjacent because they're saps... but I don't have a name popping to mind just yet.

And of course there are the fun dynamics of their relationship that they will probably always be figuring out. Like Lucas realizing (and relishing) in the power he has over Eliott and the way he can make Eliott's brain short circuit in any variety of ways (like saying something incredibly explicit in the middle of much more innocent activities like cooking dinner). Then Eliott will remember he no longer holds his Punzel in the 'look but don't touch' category and things work out quite nicely for both of them 😌. Basically... they're living their best lives figuring out adulthood and now jobs together ❤️.

Um, so abt Louis/Moniepenny: tbh the idea came to me outta the blue! I was thinking of drawing Louis and Moniepenny together since they’re the only characters who wear glasses LOL but then my thoughts spiralled from there 😅

I know Moniepenny doesn’t show up all that much, but I love her sm, she’s one of my underrated favs 💗 also since Louis now heads MI6, I imagine he and Moniepenny would interact a lot more, and maybe fall in love slowly 👉👈💗 maybe Louis occasionally feels inadequate about his own skills compared to his brothers, and slowly opens up to Moniepenny about it. And maybe she knows what that feels like too (especially since she’s a woman and ppl would’ve underestimated her a lot, which may have made her question herself on more than one occasion). They then begin hyping each other up!! They work together more often, and we could maybe even have the classic “one of them gets injured in a mission and the other goes feral” 👀 and BOOM at that moment they realise they’re in love

With regard to Sherlouis, it could be considered enemies to lovers, right? I keep thinking of that one scene from Princess Mononoke where she holds a knife to Ashitaka’s throat and he falls for her lol. Louis holding a knife to Sherly’s throat, and Sherly is all puppy eyes. It could be a case of Sherly falls first, Louis falls harder? *puts on rose-tinted glasses fabulously* 🌹🕶️

Sorry I rambled, I was kinda excited to talk abt this 😅🌻🪻

Oh I love that like a slowburn coworkers to in love for them.

I'm imagining her venting her frustrations about how the mission to get Moran back went, and Louis gently reminding her that she's herself and not Bonde, and that there's nothing wrong with having different styles of working as an agent.

I'm also imagining Moran being super jealous of Louis when he gets back and he realizes 😂 Not because I see Moran as specifically caring about being with Moniepenny I sort of read those canon interactions as just general machismo on his part, but because I think he'd be sort of affronted that it was Louis lmao.

I think they could have a really sweet relationship; there could also be some point where Louis starts wanting to protect her and she has to remind him of the frustration he feels when was being coddled and not allowed to participate in anything so that she's allowed to have normal assignments 😂

Sherlouis:

YES I definitely consider it enemies to lovers. I'm ... pretty sure I haven't seen Princess Mononoke, because that does not at all sound familiar but also YES. Sherlock is great because while sherliam works well, I think he could fall just as hard for any of the brothers if the one to pay attention to him wasn't William. He just likes the Lord of Crime. He thinks Liam is the Lord of Crime... and he is, but he's not everything the Lord of Crime is, they all very much share in that role, and I think Sherlock would appreciate the aspects any brother brings to the role.

The only thing with Louis is that Sherlock is seen and then disregarded so often that I feel like he's sort of insecure about it. Something I've seen said on my sherlouis writing is that Louis ends up liking Sherlock despite himself in a way that just is not true for Sherliam, and I can't imagine Sherlock not seeing it. My Sherlock keeps causing problems in Poison Paradise because of that -- Louis is far to tsundere to openly admit to liking Sherlock, and Sherlock can tell there is conflict in Louis' interest.

But there is a lot of physical tension between them, partially because Louis has such extreme reactions to everything Sherlock does. There's this kind of unhealthiness about it that makes for a really interesting dynamic and a good story.

And I'm so glad you also see the beauty of masochist!Sherlock Holmes xD

I need him to come back in the audios, they can't introduce him for two episodes just to never bring him back :( Aside from that, let's say Strax even though those two are more like siblings!

No I'm joking! I do like that but I think I really love exploring the complexity of her character, and I love her being a little cheeky XD The thing I don't like (but that could go for Jenny or Vastra honestly) is that canonically they are SOOOO bad at Communicating With Each Other sometimes.

1. Why do you like or dislike this character? I love her for how determined (bordering on stubborn sometimes), unhinged, and brilliant she is. Also she's obviously very attractive. She's brave and intelligent, and she's a fantastic captain!

6. What's something you have in common with this character? Hhhhh, we would die for Seven of Nine? I feel like there's not really much I have in common with Janeway. It's funny really, because in a bunch of ways we're very much opposites? She loves coffee, I don't and prefer tea, for instance.

Xena secretly enjoys Gabrielle telling her stories about her (like, narrating past adventures) and finds it endearing, and it helps her settle down and fall asleep. (is this me blatantly stealing a headcanon I also have for Jenny and Vastra because Gabrielle and Xena are Jenny and Vastra coded, maybe...)

ok i might go on a rant here, but i love love LOVE your art omg.

i absolutely adore the way you color and shade. your drawings honestly feel like a drawing in a sketchbook where ur like "hm maybe i should add markers/colored pencil to this" AND THEN THE DRAWING TURNS OUT LOOKING MAJESTIC. the way you draw is so round, which 1) makes your drawings look SO CUTE and 2) makes it feel like your drawings would squeak like those dog toys (which is good!! your art evokes positive emotions!!!!)

not to mention your amazing taste in fandoms??? prsk AND mcyt (specifically hermitcraft, life smp, and qsmp) AND ducktales???? AND AMPHIBIA????? ok i might have been stalking ur account but it's honestly hard not to WHEN YOUR ART IS SO COOL

both your doodles and your polished drawings look STUNNING and it's like woah how did you do that??? /pos your doodles give that cozy colored pencil vibe that i kinda mentioned earlier. and again, THE WAY THAT YOU COLOR AURAFEUKSHGJK. your art makes me want to violently explode (in a good way). your doodles are like if marshmallows were turned into drawings and then mixed with an awful amount of love and those round stars that u would doodle on the free space of homework

and then your polished drawings are also so amazing. they're so vibrant, and they're like when you go to daiso or some stationery store and you find this pen that you fall in love with and do all of your drawings with (i'm using a LOT of similes to describe your art but i promise it's in the best way possible). and i love love how you do backgrounds, whether they're simple or not. like this akito drawing was just so cute and it felt like a pack of stickers exploded onto your drawing (again, similes but they're meant in the best way possible). and can i just say that i LOVE the use of screentones in that drawing and also the way that you drew akito's name in the corner. it just scratches my brain in such a good way. also that grian dtiys oh my god???? the background. the shading. the coloring. the line art. THE SHADING. i love it so so so much

i only brought up two of your drawings specifically, but each of your drawings that i've seen have made me feel all warm inside until I MELT AND EXPLODE EVERYWHERE /pos i absolutely adore your art style and all of your art and i'm really sorry if this whole thing was overwhelming but i just have so many words for your art, and i mean each and every word wholeheartedly. keep up the great work because you're doing FABULOUS

idk who you are and idk if i ever will but know that i think about you sometimes cause it makes my heart so happy that someone loves one of my characters so much even tho i get scared to talk about them more often cause i dont wanna be obnoxious, you are always amadeus anon in my heart and i love you pls come into my inbox whenever you want to ask about whatever i will try to answer quickly sometimes it just takes a while for my brain to feel ready but i will Always try to answer questions about my ocs

i will ramble about some of my characters under a cut i dont wanna flood anyones dash with my bullshit if they dont want it!!! anyone playing in a campaign with me..... proceed with caution if you read!!! even tho i am coming back to this after deciding i needed to be done and. i didnt say too much spoilery shit. i didnt even talk backstory much. its fine.

as for ocs im obsessed with i am Entirely Not Normal about my character nowell, i wasnt fully normal about him when i first made him, but at the time i was only really talking to my ex and all the parts of nowell that really made him Nowell to me were things he didnt want to discuss so i didnt get to explore him to his full capacity. i dont blame him since nowell is one of the darkest characters??? ive ever made???? in terms of the things hes gone through? i affectionately call him a walking trigger warning. but it still made me sad sometimes

now tho? when i was able to put him into a modern horror dnd campaign and i played him a bit before our current hiatus? where ive gotten to fully explore him and every single facet of him, good and bad? it really unleashed him fully in my brain and it kinda makes me really emotional. i fully developed his backstory out more than i felt i could before (because what did it matter before if i could never utilize it? had to dull him down to be easier to deal with and honestly i think thats had an effect on his character now too) and ive learned more about him, hes grown into himself and he truly is out here changing my brain chemistry. i love him so, so, so much and i have drawn him more than any other oc i have im pretty sure. hes my most drawn son and i really wish i was braver about posting oc art on my blog now a days like i used to be in the past because i love my art of him. im pretty proud of it and the way hes made me want to create again. i just wish i could do him more justice yknow??? g uh hes everything to me im holding him so so gently in my arms

and also my boy veth???? g o d i love him sm especially since i!!! recently got to confirm/drop a big lore reveal about him in my campaign thats been going for like 2 years at this point!!! my party finally knows hes the only survivor of the royal family of kuzania and thus the rightful heir to the throne and not the BBEG whose currently ruling! i feel So Free now that i can mention his princely-ness truly i do. hes just. so sweet and so lovely and hes everything i love in a character cause truly i just accidentally made My Type in a man and now its just veth. the only way he could be even more my type is if he was a tiefling instead of an elf but he makes up for that by being like. 1/4 platinum shadow dragon. and one day thats gonna pop out with him i know it to be so. i want him to be able to have a bit of a draconic-ish form because of how STRONG that 1/4 dragon blood is. im gonna work on it eventually, but im v happy with him hes so pretty and i adore him

he also recently canonically got with a PC in the campaign (hes a main story npc!!!) and im So Not Normal About Them theyre driving me up a wall and i literally cried over them earlier this week because my friend came at me with a fuckin baseball bat of an answer to a vague scenario/question i told them about cause im batshit and think about character scenarios every day of my life.

im also leaving my setting for that campaign open for friends who arent playing in it to make characters and throw em in and one of my friends made an au of a character she already had that im Deeply And Completely Obsessed With named creed to put him into this world specifically to date veth cause theyre obsessed with veth like i am their chara and we had joked like "aha what if we just picked them up like barbies and made them kiss just to see if it worked out" and now they are literally The Couple Ever. like there have never been 2 men who were more perfect for each other in this entire world and the way they have a fuckin grip on me. i have also cried over them several times. veth is a poly king and by GOD is he winning rn. we have made this au version of creed canon in stadalon so veth is gonna have TWO boyfriends!!!! perhaps 2 husbands! perhaps 3!!!! cause another friend has an oc to kiss him with!!! we shall see!!!!

guuuuh and also my vampire spawn shadow genasi/tiefling requiem??? recently hes been So Loud in my head. i specifically made him to romance a character my friend made (same one who made creed) named harbinger cause i saw him and immediately fell head over heels and begged her to let me kiss him and other friends in the call at the time he was shown immediately jumped on the bandwagon wanting to make characters in relation to him (2 of them made siblings for him, theyre triplets! and the other just decided to make the most normal man ever (a fuckin lie. theyre Not Fucking Normal) because of the triplets happening and me being like imma out-goth this goth tiefling and out came requiem) and the last friend in call decided hell why not make a whole campaign out of these losers just for this One Blue Tiefling Our Friend Made That We All Love.

in campaign shit is Constantly Happening but me and them were talking and she told me that harbinger is finally starting to get to a point hes falling for him and requiems already been there cause hes disney prince ass level falls hard and fast. im cheering and screaming and kicking and crying i love them so much we keep talking future scenarios for them and im so deeply in love with how soft and gentle and adoring theyre going to be with one another one day and i would die for them both.

plus i just. Love requiem sm hes such a big soft sad bastard and the fact that he loves and cares so fuckin deeply and hes so kind? so open? so genuine? was not in the plans when i first sat down to play him he was supposed to be more moody and a bit more intense than he is now. he held my face before i even opened my mouth to play him and said no. i am kind. i am patient and understanding and i was born to love and to take care of people. i have also cried over him. i love him so so much and im just guuuUUUH yknow what i mean.

you turned to the other side, expecting to feel the comforting warmth of your boyfriend at your side. just before you were greeted by an icy morning cold.

reluctantly, and slightly surprised, you opened your eyes to find that, instead of seeing his still beautiful morning face, you saw only a void.

you looked at the alarm clock on your bedside table, it was far too early for him to have left.

with a sigh, you grabbed your slippers and dressing gown, and left your warm bed to find a cold you wished you hadn't met so soon.

as you left your room, you ran into shoto in your small kitchen, sipping coffee. a smile slowly came to light up your tired face.

« you're up early today. » you say by way of a greeting.

with slow steps, you place a tender kiss on his cheek. nevertheless, what made you raise your eyebrows was the fact that he was avoiding you. since when was the list of ingredients in the packet of biscuits so interesting?

he greeted you anyway, in a low, monotonous and slightly broken voice.

« what's going on ? »

alerted by his sadness, you took his face in your hands in a matter of seconds. your piercing eyes stared intently at him, ready to relieve his pain whatever it was.

his face was red from crying, and you still had traces of it on his rosy cheeks. he tried to pull away, with a gentle but strong gesture. worried, you bit your upper lip to keep from crying back. it was rare to see him in this state, being usually stoic. few things could put him in such a state.

« nothing, i just had a bad dream. »

your hand remained on his cheek, and you gently forced him to look at you. with a gentle gesture, your other free hand came to meet his, a certain warmth came to warm you despite the morning cold.

« i'm listening baby. »

a long sigh escaped his lips.

« it's not worth it, y/n, just ridiculous. »

you frowned slightly.

« shoto, I'm worried. »

a faint smile stretched his lips slightly. and without you expecting it, he laid his head on your neck. his warm breath made you shiver.

« you abandoned me from one day to the next. without a word, without any explanation. in fact, you left me for another man. and that's how i understood that i wasn't good enough for you.

i know i'm not the ideal man, i'm quite atypical and i don't always show my love for you like other boyfriends do. and sometimes i wonder how a woman as fabulous as you can be with me. »

he stopped.

« you know i'm not stupid, i see how other men look at you. »

as he spoke, you could feel his tears rolling down your chest.

« but i love you. you're the first person i've ever loved this much. you've shown me another side of life that i never got to know because of my father. you've taught me to love y/n. i can't see myself without you. »

your hand came to meet his hair, which you gently stroked. a tear of your own this time came down your face too. you were kind of relieved that it wasn't that bad, although seeing him in that state kind of freaked you out.

« shoto todoroki, listen to me. you're the perfect man for me. you're the one who smiles at me without even meaning to. you're the one who got me to like cold soba. you're the one who comes to warm me up at night in your arms. you're the one i could die for. you're the one who manages to get me to watch the same cheesy romantic movie every night. you're the one i could talk to for hours and days. you're the one person i can see myself spending the rest of my life with. »

you didn't hear him crying anymore. instead, a comforting silence enveloped you both now.

with that, you placed a kiss on his lips, which tasted slightly salty from his now dry tears. it was with pleasure that you felt a smile stretch against your lips. his arms came around you in a long, loving hug.

you had finished work earlier so you decided to surprise your fiancé by making his favourite dish.

you hadn't seen him this morning before you left for work, which surprised you a little because he always took the time to come and say hello or give you a kiss.

and now that you think about it, it's true that he hadn't texted you all day, which he usually did too. whether it was to complain about how he embarrassed himself in front of everyoneor just to slip a sweet i love you into your notifications.

had you pissed him off ? you shook your head at yourself, you don't remember if you did. you were probably imagining things.

a few minutes later, you heard the door slam and your boyfriend drop his stuff in front of the entrance. you expected him to come up behind you to give you a long, warm kiss. well, he didn't and probably won't because you heard him lock himself in your room.

you raised an eyebrow. something was wrong.

with a quick step, and slightly apprehensive, you joined him, and came upon a tamaki curled up in a ball in your bed.

you sat down next to him, putting your hand gently on his shoulder.

« tell me what's wrong. »

« i don't know what you're talking about. »

you flinch slightly at the tone of his voice. hard and cold it was. which was a big change from his usually soft and warm voice.

the high school amajiki had grown up, matured. you were able to be by his side as he evolved, he was now a confident and strong man. although old habits die hard

« huh ? did i do something ? »

he finally met your gaze, and it didn't match his tone. full of melancholy, his eyes were bright. he had been crying.

your expression, which at first was slightly annoyed, became more and more panicked. your hands automatically came to meet his, but they refused to meet them.

« tell me what the fuck is wrong ! »

« i - i don't know if it's a good idea for us to get married. »

you swallowed hard. the words stuck in your throat, you didn't understand what had just happened.

« w-why ? » you asked silently.

« i'm not good enough for you, you deserve better. let's stop kidding ourselves. »

an unpleasant heat came over your face, it was anger rising.

how could he know that you deserved better ? didn't your unconditional love for him count for anything ?

« why- why are you saying all this now ? »

it wasn't like him. he had a tendency to doubt himself sometimes, but he had never doubted your love for each other.

« isaw that you had cheated on me. in a dream, of course. you seemed happy with this man. he was everything i wasn't. perfect. i don't want you to waste your time with me, i don't want you to make the mistake of your life by getting engaged to me... i'm just a waste of time, well i've always been anyway. you must think i'm exaggerating and being ridiculous... i probably am... »

he lowered his head as he spoke, now refusing to look you in the eye. it was as if he were eighteen again, the shy and anxious teenager who refused to make eye contact with anyone when he was embarrassed.

a slight gasp escaped your lips.

your hands finally met his, you smiled softly when he didn't try to pull away. you let the silence settle comfortably between you, letting the gestures express your thoughts.

your soft gestures that had already comforted him many times in the hardest moments as well as in the most joyful ones. the same ones that had always succeeded in making him feel loved and safe in your fusional relationship.

he relaxed little by little in your arms, letting all his doubts fly away with this tension that paralyzed his muscles.

you finally spoke up when you were in a fairly comfortable position, both in each other's arms.

« amajiki, baby. i could never be this happy with anyone else. and i mean it. you're the one i grew up with, loved, cried with, laughed with. how can you say you're a waste of time? sweetie, even if we broke up, i'd be happy to tell everyone i loved a great man like you. but i know that's never going to happen, because i'm ready to say yes to you when the time comes. »

his grip around your waist tightened slightly.

a tear rolled down your cheek. It wasn't sad, it represented all the love you had for him.

How Haechan And JiHo’s Friendship Evolved Over The Years [Part 1]

[2015 | First Meeting | SM Artist Lounge, 2nd floor]

“Is this really necessary?” Jiho groaned whilst getting pushed out of the elevator by Doyoung. “Didn’t you say you don’t have many friends?” “I said in school! I don’t have many friends in school!” Jiho explained agitated. “It doesn’t matter, it’s too late to turn around.”

Doyoung then pushed open the door to SM’s private lounge where 4 boys sat talking to each other on the big couch. “Kids! This is Jiho, she’s also a 00 liner.” The four boys looked up to see Doyoung holding a girl in front of him by her shoulders. They quickly greeted the pair and then expectantly looked at Jiho for her to talk.

“My Korean... uhm, not so good.” She held her hands up in a cross while butchering her Korean pronunciation. The four boys - Mark, Donghyuck, Jeno and Jaemin - smiled awkwardly at her nodding their heads.

Before Mark could say: “It’s okay. Don’t worry.” Doyoung pushed the girl by her shoulder causing her to laugh. “Yah! Why are you like this?” Jiho looked up once more and bowed towards the four confused boys. “I was just kidding. Hi, I’m Jiho. Nice to meet you guys.” She waved and showed the boys a genuine smile which they quickly returned. The boys were relieved and laughing at the girl’s little joke.

“I thought it would be nice for you guys to get to know each other. Jiho’s pretty new and she has a hard time befriending the other girl trainees.” Jiho raised her brow listening to Doyoung’s explanation. “I don’t think that’s necessarily true but-” “If you see her around, don’t be afraid to say hi to her. She’s really nice. Most of the time.” Doyoung mumbled the last sentence this time earning a judging look from the younger girl.

Mark then stood up, motioning for the others to do so as well. “We actually have to go to practise right now, but we’d love to hang out in the future.” Mark said and Jiho nodded with a smile. “That’s fine, I’ll see you around.” She waved while the boys walked off.

Doyoung then quickly nudged the girl, urging her to tell the boys the thing she told Doyoung earlier. “Uh- Wait!” The four boys turned around to see Jiho push Doyoung’s elbow away from her side. “I actually saw you guys practise and you’re all really good dancers...” She mumbled, her fingers curling into her palms. Doyoung one again poked the girl’s side. “Also Donghyuck-ssi, I really like your voice. You’re a great singer.” She smiled and looked up to meet the boy’s gaze. His cheeks slightly flared up and he bowed his head, muttering a small thanks before they all left the room.

Jiho glared at the older boy who seemed very proud of himself. “Thanks. Now things are going to be very awkward thanks to you.” “Ah~ No problem, loved to help you.”

[2016 | Snack Shuttle | SM Practise Room ]

“When you said you’d find a way to hang out more during your busy schedule, I didn’t know I’d become your personal snack shuttle.” Doyoung walked into the practise room with a complaining Jiho by his side, holding a few white plastic bags. “I thought you wanted to hang out more?” “If this is what ‘hanging out’ is than I don’t think I’m that interested anymore.”

Johnny’s chuckles filled the room and everyone looked at him. “You start to sound like actual siblings more each time I see you together.” Doyoung and Jiho then shared a look of disgust before turning back to sorting the snacks.

“Oppa told me what all of you guys liked so I brought something for everyone.” The boy’s eyes lit up as they thanked Jiho and ran towards her and Doyoung who were still holding on to the bags.

After giving everyone what they wanted Jiho held up one more item in her hand. “Did someone ask for this snack?” Jiho asked the room holding the bag of chips up high. Doyoung took a closer look, inspecting the bag but shook his head just like the rest of the room. “I didn’t, but I know Haechan likes these.” Jiho’s eyes locked with Haechan and she held the bag out for him to take. “Jiho I thought you liked those too.” Doyoung added quickly, earning a shrug from the girl.

“Want these?” She asked the same aged boy who’s eyes had widened a bit. “You don’t have anything for yourself though, you can keep them.” Haechan carefully said but the girl just shook her head and pushed the snack into Haechan’s hands. “I have a weigh-in in 2 days. So I’ll pass this time.” A fake smile found its place on her lips and Yuta stood up to wrap an arm around her shoulders. “You’re literally tiny, why should you worry about that?” “The world is a cruel place oppa.” She sighed to which he chuckled.

Mark quickly slid his way over to Haechan and nudged the boy a few times. “How are you still this awkward around Jiho?” The older of the two stifled a laugh. “Hyung~” Haechan whined. “It’s not like that.” He added with a grumble. “Okay buddy, whatever you say.”

[2017 | Dinner Buddies | SM cafeteria]

On his way to the table where his hyungs were already eating, Haechan stopped to watch a scene unfold in front of him.

The doors to the elevator had just opened revealing a dishevelled Jiho, still wearing her school uniform, stumble into the hallway of the cafeteria. Just as she entered she spotted the other trainees walk past her. “Hey!” She held up her hand smiling towards the girls, they all stopped hesitantly and Haechan couldn’t help but catch the way some of them rolled their eyes.

“Are you already leaving? I thought we’d eat together?” Jiho smile was still plastered on her lips, seeming oblivious to the cold looks she was getting. “We already finished, you can go eat alone. See ya~” One of the older girls smirked waving at Jiho and the other girls quickly followed before they all walked away.

A deep sigh left the Jiho’s lips and her head and shoulders dropped significantly. However when two feet walked into her vision she perked up and found Haechan looking at her with a sad smile. “You saw that right?” She chuckled, trying to hide her embarrassment and he only nodded. “I guess I’ll just head out now and don’t worry, I’m used to it. That one girl really doesn’t like me.” She tried to laugh off and then turned to leave the cafeteria.

Haechan stopped her. “You haven’t eaten yet though. Come sit with us. Me and the hyungs just got here.” Jiho smiled at the offer and quickly accepted. With how hungry she was feeling she didn’t feel like taking the bus back home for 15 minutes before she could actually eat.

Not even a few moments later Haechan arrived back at the table his members were sitting, but to their surprise he was joined by the young trainee. “Jiho? What are you doing here?” Taeyong asked. “I got ditched by the other girls.” She explained and the group quickly invited her to sit down with them.

The youngest boy sat down in his original spot next to Mark and in front of Johnny and Jaehyun who all sent him teasing looks. “What?” He raised an eyebrow at the boys. “Seems like you and Jiho are getting closer.” Jaehyun hummed. “Yeah, you seemed to be having a fun conversation before you got here.” Mark mentioned, thinking of how Haechan and Jiho were laughing at something when they walked up to the table. “You guys are so annoying.” Haechan mumbled, shoving a spoonful of rice into his mouth.

[2018 | Better Girl | SM library]

Haechan dragged his feet down the hallway of the almost empty floor. It was the beginning of January so not a lot of people were working, and definitely not a lot of artist. This resulted in the, mainly artist floor to be as good as abandoned.

The poor boy was “tasked” by Mark to get him one of his notebooks which he had forgotten during his writing session with Jeno. Haechan really didn’t have to go right now, but he insisted since it meant Mark would have to buy him dinner. Yet here Haechan was, slouching and dragging his body to the right room as if he was forced against his will.

Upon opening the door he heard a soft giggle. “Oh, I’m sorry- Jiho?” He peeked his head inside finding Jiho sat at one of the tables with her phone in hand. She had her jacket tightly wrapped around her shoulders and her nose and cheeks seemed to glow the slightest tint of red. The heater in the room wasn’t on so it was freezing cold. “What are you doing here?”

Jiho looked up at the boy but the second she locked eyes with his she almost burst out laughing. “You make a better girl than I do.” She said, forcing herself to stop laughing. “What are you talking about?”

Curious about what Jiho meant he circled around the other tables so he could look over to what she was watching on her phone. “Ten oppa sent this to me.” She tilted her phone towards Haechan only for him to get hit by memories. He didn’t expect to get confronted by that red polka dot dress and long brown wig again. “OH MY GOD! Please stop watching that!” He reached for her phone and quickly turned the video off while Jiho was freely laughing.

Once the boy was calmed down he let himself fall onto the chair next to Jiho. “This is so embarrassing” He muttered into his arms, in which he was hiding his face. Jiho reached out her hand to pat the boy’s back.

“Don’t worry about it. People say I dress more like a boy, so there’s nothing wrong with wearing a dress when you’re not a girl.” She smiled. Haechan looked up, hoping that Jiho was being serious, but when he saw her trying to hide a smirk he groaned. “For real, you didn’t look too bad, if I do say so myself.”

This caused Haechan to look up and smile as well. “Yeah, I looked pretty good right?” He said in a cocky way prompting Jiho to chuckle. “You looked fabulous.” She complimented in an exaggerated tone. The two then shared a big wordless smile before they went on to do their own things again.

September, October and November, has already flew by so quickly as if it were a blur and I can’t seem to comprehend that its currently December.

Not that I dislike this certain month but it’s just the whole ‘mistletoe’ thing that I’m not quite fond of. Last week, some boy from Slytherin managed to get a girl he liked from Hufflepuff under the mistletoe, and let’s just say, the tension was absolutely incredulous.

Being a Hufflepuff, she kindly made up an excuse and hurried out of the the great hall. If that were me, I would probably shove my plate full of food down their pants. I mean the audacity though?

It’s that time of year again where Hogwarts is practically covered in a blanket of snow and every single student walks down the corridor with a soft knitted sweater hugging their bodies tightly to stop them from catching a cold. Well mostly everyone, since Malfoy wears very extra stuff during this season.

The last day, I saw Harry snogging Cho Chang under the plant. Okay maybe it wasn’t snogging, but they still kissed! And Hermione had told me all about some oaf from RavenClaw who tried to do the same to her but it didn’t really work out since she smacked him across the face with a heavy book.

“I’m so glad no ones tried that on me yet,” I mumbled le as I tucked into a plate full of food.”it’s absolutely ridiculous! I mean the audacity they have to think I’d want to kiss them. I have to puke,” complained Hermione, her facing saying it all. From the corner of my eye, I saw Ron Weasley gulping hard as he tugged at his collar. “You know.. sometimes both of you are very scary,” making me roll my eyes at him.

“It’s not even that bad, it’s just a kiss,”. The way Harry blatantly blurted that out as if it’s the tiniest thing in the world while he drummed his fingers on the table. “You can’t chat! I saw you snogging Cho Chang a day ago,” I argued. Harry’s cheeks were beginning to flush a shade of crimson as he swiftly diverted the attention onto me again.

“And? At least it was Cho and not someone like Pansy Parkinson, besides even Lavenders after Ron,” he mumbled looking annoyed. “Bloody hell I almost forgot! She can’t seem to stay away from me. She’s like a leech,” he complained, his lips curving into a frown.

Hermione shut her book and put it down. “Y/n, hasn’t anyone tried to get you under the mistletoe yet?” Her lips curving into a small smile, preventing me from shoving a forkful of food down my throat, my hand in mid air. “Uh- no,” my cheeks slightly blushed in embarrassment . For some reason my response made Ron giggle to himself.

Irritated, I smacked him behind his head causing him to yelp. “Ow! What was that for?” His brows furrowing as he rubbed the spot I had hit him in. “You dare laugh at me Ronald Weasley and I won’t hesitate to curse you!”

“Both of you please! I’m trying to finish this book off,” Hermione’s facial expressions exasperate as her eyes bore deep into our souls, intimidating us until we both shut up. Huffing under my breathe I continued to pick at my food until someone spoke once again.

“Hey! Give me my book back!”. To my surprise, Draco Malfoy stood towering over Hermione, his book in her hands as he held it high. Her attempts to try and grab it back were failing as she jumped high on the spot. “Malfoy give her book back,” spoke Harry through gritted teeth. “How about no? Besides Potter, this is between me and her so stay out of it,” he sneered.

“Come on Malfoy, stop being such a git,” defended Ron. Whatever the boys had said didn’t really matter to him because of course it went through one ear and out the other. “Oi! Give. Her. Book. Back,” my nostrils flaring as I folded my arms against my chest.

Unexpectedly, he started making owl noises just like the day he was attacked by Buckbeak, slowly striding towards me as his eyes darted up and down at my figure, supposedly ‘checking me out’. “why... what are you going to do y/l/n?” His face inches away from mine. I felt his cool,minty breathe fanning against my face causing my eyes to flutter rapidly in intimidation. Everyone in the great hall had fixed their attention onto the commotion we were causing, making owl noises every time one of us firedback. “Gone silent now have you?” The tone in his voice mocking as he took a step back and swiftly turned on his heels.

I don’t know what I was thinking, but I pulled him back towards me, one of my hands cupping his face as my lips pressed against his instantly. My other hand, smoothly grabbed the book out of his palms, shoving him back once I got what I wanted. “You were saying?” My voice sarcastic as he stared at me, mouth hung slightly open In awe.

Tossing the book back to Hermione, we all sat back down, the golden trio gasping under their breaths. “Did you just KISS Malfoy?” Rons voice exaggerated as his eyes shot wide open. “Yes- Yes I did,”

As we walked the hogwarts grounds, Harry and Ron didn’t stop annoying me about Draco. “So let me get this right, you kissed Malfoy to get mione’s book back? Blimey you have some guts don’t you?” A giggle trailed behind his irrelevant question.

I was down right agitated. I paused in the middle of no where, my lips pursing into a line. “I don’t know why both of you think it’s so funny and or hard to believe I kissed him? It’s not like I like him or something!” My voice slightly laced with anger as I strided off into the other direction, ditching the trio.

I could heard Hermione calling after me but it was too late. I was gone. If I were being realistic, I didn’t know where I was headed to as I entered hogwarts, twisting and turning through the dingy,dark corridors until I bumped into something rock hard, resulting in me too lose my balance and collapse.

“Look where your going,” I groaned as I sat up on the cold floor. “You bumped into me, not the other way round,”. It couldn’t be. I recognised that same bitter and unpleasant voice. My eyes trailed up to the figure that looked upon me from down below as I whimpered underneath him in pain.

It was Malfoy.

He stuck his hand out in offer for me too take it but of course I didn’t. Pushing his hand out of the way, I scrambled to my feet my teeth gritting. “Why are you ALWAYS in my way?!” I yelled, although I was lucky enough that the corridors were deserted.

“Me in your way? YOUR the one who keeps getting in MY way! Don’t get too ahead of your self y/l/n!” He firedback immediately, his face scrunched up.

My hands found their way to his collar, fisting at the material, pulling him close until our noses were almost touching. “Listen here Malfoy, stay. Out. Of. My. Way,” I protested my breathing heavy.

His serious face turned looser as a small smirk spread across his face. His hands travelled up my visage, his thumb lightly grazing my lip, tugging it down, the flesh of my lips revealing.

What was he doing?

My breathing hitched, while my heart did a flip in my chest. My grip on his collar slackened as my hands fell by my side before I walked right past him.

I should have known better. The more I added fuel to his fire, the more frustrating he was going to become. It was slowly starting to become a very common thing for the two of us to have an argument with each other, while everyone just rolled their eyes at us, since it was starting to get out of hand and become a regular thing.

Something inside me told me that he thoroughly enjoyed bickering with me even when I had at least tried to be civil with him.

“I just wanted say.. maybe we should be civil,” my words sincere as a half grin crept up across his face. “You want US to be civil? Why.. you think I’m going to stop?” He taunted as his smile dropped, his face serious than ever. “Yes- you know why? Because I’m mature unlike you. If I’m honest I don’t understand what pleasure you find in fighting me all the time,” my eyes turning a darker shade as I clenched my fists by my side.

His facial features turned soft almost as if it were putty as I finished my sentence with a sigh. His body instantly loosened up as he took a few steps away from me. “Your right. I’ll leave you alone-“ he muttered before disappearing in the dark.

Was I seeing things or did Draco actually agree with me for once? Was he actually going to put an end to his daily dose of torture?

“Did he actually offer to stop and leave you alone?” The confused looks on their faces. “Yep... but it’s quite unbelievable,” the look on my face twisting the more I thought about it. “Wait Wait Wait! Let me get this right... Malfoy’s going to leave you alone for the rest of your life? Bloody hell thats fabulous!” Ron’s lips transitioning into a wide grin as he took a sip out of his cup.

“Why are you so happy? He said he’d leave ME alone not YOU,” I answered back , trying to put Ron off, making his face droop. Within seconds I decided to change the topic so I didn’t have to fight Weasley.

“Anyways- So- hows your defence against the dark arts thing going?” I questioned Harry as he swallowed his food. “Well- we haven’t come up with a proper name for it but we think it should be named ‘Dumbledores army’ and I guess it’s going alright,” he sighed right after causing me to raise a brow. “Somethings off- what’s wrong Harry?” My voice gentle as I glanced at the other two.

“Harry’s worried someone’s going to bail out on us to Umbridge,” the fearful expression on hermiones face explaining it all. Did I mention that Dolores Umbridge was claimed to be the headmistress of the school? We were all lucky enough that she hadn’t created any sort of ridiculous rule in which we were no longer able to talk to our friends.

Everyone apart from a bunch of slytherins, who were named the ‘inquisitorial squad’, including that evil little cockroach Malfoy, loathed her. The trio had managed to gain access to the room of requirements in which they all hosted sessions where they practised spells such as how to unleash a patronus charm.

“Y/n why don’t you join? The more the merrier besides we need to prepare incase anything happens,” the tone in hermiones voice soft. “Guys.. I don’t know.. what if you know.. Umbridge finds out?” I asked wearily, fingers drumming the table.

Disappointment smeared across their faces. I couldn’t disappointment my friends like that. “You know what? Fine, I’m in!” I blurted as their mundane facial expressions changed into goofy smiles and wrinkled eyes.

“Expecto Patronum!” The tip of my wand unleashed a faint sort of white vapour which slowly transitioned into a p/n. “Blood hell y/n! You got that right on the first try,” remarked Ron as he stared up at my patronus in awe.

Suddenly, the chandelier started to swing and the floor beneath us was shaking under our feet. Everyone huddled together as it stopped. Then another loud bang came from the door as it crumbled, leaving a tiny cracked hole in which we heard Umbridges voice.

With one last swish and flick of her wand, she blasted down the door completely, walking in infuriated with the inquisitorial squad following behind her. Draco Malfoy stood on the side, his hand gripping Cho Chang’s arm tightly as she hung her head in shame. She had betrayed us.

My eyes met Malfoy’s as I lowered my wand. Each member of the squad practically forced us all the way into umbridges office however Malfoy shoved Cho to the side and came headed in my direction. “Do as I say,” he muttered under his breathe, his hand gripping my wrist causing me too flinch.

“What- What are you doing?” I whispered frantically. “Don’t question me y/l/n,” he replied, his lips barley moving as Umbridge yelled at us all.

One by one, each army member was escorted by a slytherin however Malfoy waited for everyone to leave. “Come on, let’s get out of here,” he mumbled, peering out the door making sure the coast was clear. His hand slowly slid down my wrist, intertwining his fingers with mine.

I didn’t dare speak of it, besides I felt safe with him for some reason as if I were able to trust him. Quickly, we ran down the corridors hand in hand making sure no one spot us. “Wait stop,” I panted as i breathed heavily, leaning against the wall. He stopped for a moment, his hand on his hip as he patiently waited for me too regain enough energy to walk back to my dorm. “Let me walk you back to your dorm,” he insisted.

“Goodnight,” he mumbled before turning to walk away. “Draco Wait-,” I called for him reluctantly as i leaned against the door of my dorm room. He turned to face me once again, one of his brows raised in confusion. “Why did you help me? I mean you could have just turned me in like the others,” I questioned hesitantly. He seemed to have straightened his posture as he looked down at the floor before glancing at my visage. “Don’t question it y/l/n,”

“What? That’s not possible.. how did Malfoy not turn you in?” Harry exclaimed, his face distorted as he gave the type of look when something was brutally unfair. “I bet he likes you, I remember when he came back and made up an excuse about his whereabouts,” chimed Hermione plainly as she stuck her nose into her book, causing me too flush red.

Running towards us was Fred and George Weasley as they explained what Umbridge was currently doing. “You lot might want to check this out,” their voices weary as they glanced one another. Within seconds we all made our way outside the great hall where the rock solid walls were covered with every stupid law she’d had every created. A new one of her ridiculous educational Decrees was being hung by Filch as he tried balancing on the highest step of the ladder.

My eyes trailed from above all the way down, now examining Draco’s face as he looked up, a smirk painted across his face, after all he was part of Umbridge’s clan. I don’t know why but he looked immensely alluring and it really bothered me. Why did he look so perfect? I didn’t like him did I? No of course I didn’t What type of dumb question was that?

Tonight me and the army decided to sneak out after curfew and meet up in the Gryffindor common room. I slipped on my robe as I softly shut the door behind me, trying to make sure it didn’t creak. I tiptoed down the corridors because we were all aware that the inquisitorial squad members were lurking around, keeping an eye on us. I couldn’t risk using a lumos spell because I knew that if I did someone might see the light at the tip of my wand easily so I attempted to guide myself in the dark, sticking my hand out incase I bumped into anything.

Unexpectedly, I tripped over my own feet causing me to fall frontwards, straight into somebody’s arms, my hands flung around their neck, clinging onto them for dear life. We stayed like that for a good few seconds, my breathing hitching as my chin laid propped up on the mystery persons shoulder.

Pulling away from me the person chanted a ‘lumos’ spell, holding their wand between our faces. “Draco?” I shrieked, my face distorted since I knew I had been caught. “What are you doing after curfew?” He interrogated. “Nothing I Uh- I was trying to sneak out to get some fresh air,” I lied, the tone in my voice making me sound sheepish. “Don’t lie to me y/l/n you were going to another one of those meetings, weren’t you?” He snarled, his grip on his wand becoming tighter. “Uh.. okay fine! I am, but please don’t tell on me I beg you,” I pleaded my lips curving into a frown.

His facial expressions changed and became softer than ever, his irresistible,grey eyes glimmering from the tiny source of light as he parted his plump lips to say something. “Go,” he whispered lowly. “Thanks Draco,” I muttered. For some reason my feet were glued too the floor as if they weren’t willing to move. I had the sudden urge to kiss him but I held back until he himself leaned a little closer, his lip ghosting mine before I took steps backwards and disappeared into the darkness.

Was I developing some sort of feelings for him? All he did was save me from landing into trouble twice and actually leave me alone for once. Did he feel the same way?

I had to at least thank him for how humble he was being over the past month so that same week I went to Hogsmeade and bought him a ring with a snake wrapped around it. After all his help, this was the least I could do to repay him.

It was Christmas Eve today and I told one of the sweet slytherins (who I knew was trustworthy) to go and put this perfectly tiny box wrapped up in black paper under the tree in the Slytherin common room.

Today was Christmas Day and I ran down the stairs to my common room early in the morning to open up my gifts. Harry hurled me a handful of presents as I struggled to carry them all. “Merry Christmas y/n!” They sung in unison as I started to unwrap them all. Ron had given me a perfectly knitted sweater with the first letter of my name on it. Hermione had bought me a stack of muggle books that had very interesting covers and Harry had bought me a box of assorted sweets from honey dukes because he knew I had a sweet tooth.

“Thanks guys I really appreciate it,” I gave them a warm smile. “Y/n I uh- there’s another gift addressed to you,” Ron fiddled with the present in his hand, taking a close look at it. “It’s not addressed from anyone though,”. He tossed me the dark green wrapped gift as I glanced at them unsure. My hands began unraveling the box taking a peek on the inside. To my surprise, there was a immaculately beautiful necklace with a dark green gem in a pendant. Holding the necklace between my fingers I gave a glance at it before putting it around my neck, trying not to overthink it.

“I wonder who gave you that?” Questioned Ginny as she squinted her eyes. Walking into the great hall was a certain blonde haired boy with his annoying group of posse following behind him like a bunch of lost puppies. He looked incredibly charming as he wore a dark green sweater with a black scarf wrapped around his neck as he tugged at it too loosen it a bit. I could just about see the ring that he wore around his finger.

Something about the way he accepted my gift made me smile to myself. “Bloody hell y/n are you blushing?” Joked Ron as I pursed my lips. “Totally not,” i responded as I bit the inside flesh of my cheek too stop myself from grinning.

From across the hall my eyes met his and I felt a unknown spark run through my body. A toothy smile crawled across his face causing me too smile back at him. Oh god I thought to myself, I couldn’t do this. I hid my face in my hands embarrassed as my friends laughed at me. “Y/n are you sure you don’t like Malfoy?” Teased Fred Weasley. “Yep it’s confirmed she does,” added George. “No I don’t,” I mumbled as my voice was muffled by my hands.

“If you’ll excuse me I have somewhere to go,” I muttered before leaving the table in embarrassment. I could see Blaise Zabini and Goyle patting Draco on the back in what seemed like encouragement as he got up. Was he going to follow me?

I strided down the corridors when I saw him calling after me. I swung my head around as I continued walking and he disappeared. Walking backwards, I tried looking for him when something bumped into me from the front. “Where do you think your going?”. I recognised that same tune that use to annoy the hell out of me.

“Draco? Where did you come from? You were right behind me,” I asked curious, trying to change the subject. “Took a shorter route,” he explained. The gap between the two of us was at the point of closing.

“You uh- wore the necklace I gave you,” his cheeks flushing slightly as his rough demeanour vanished. “You were the one who gave this? Why?” My voice cracking at the end. “And you gave me this ring- why?”. He was trying to use my own words against me as I giggled to myself. “It’s more of a thank you gift than you know-,” I elaborated as I crossed my arms.

“So why did you gift me this necklace?” The curiosity in my voice making him pause for a good second. “Let me guess.. don’t question it? That’s what your going to say right?” I giggled to myself. His face slowly dropped his lips parting as he looked above the two of us. “The mistletoe,” he choked. Above our heads, was a magically growing mistletoe that rained glitter.

He scratched the back of his head as i hung my head. “You don’t have too if you don’t want-,” I quickly cut him off by placing my lips against his, savouring the sweet flavour. Initially he was shocked, his eyes wide open until his lips moved in sync with mine, his eyes fluttering closed as he cupped my visage, my body flushed against his.

Pulling away, his eyes fluttered back open, his thumb drawing circles on my cheek as he pulled me back in one last time,his plump lips on mine before pulling back making me admire his enticing face. “Merry Christmas,” he whispered as my hands wrapped around his neck pulling him in for the tightest hug ever.

Favorite Kpop Songs of 2021

I won’t speak for others, but to me personally, this was a great year for kpop! Unlike 2020, when it was a struggle to fill a top 20 list, 2021 was a struggle to narrow it down to ONLY 20. Besides just having some time to seek out music again, there was an abundance of great albums released. Additionally, several of my faves had comebacks (AND DEBUTS!) this year! So unsurprisingly this is mostly another bombardment of SM artists; and the top 10 is pretty much made up of only three albums (😅) which is why there’s a very small top Album portion as well this year.

Okay, there’s not much to add. Unlike last year, I tried to rank all 20 this time. And even though this is very self-indulgent and mostly just for me, I’ll try my best to be succinct. One more note, I’m sorry for the lack of NCT. Their releases just didn’t interest me very much this year. 😕 So! Along with some surprises and several honorable mentions, let’s begin!

Top 3 Albums:

3. Empathy by D.O - Easy Listening is a misnomer to me most of the time, because I analyze and dissect simplistic songs. But Kyungsoo’s Empathy is the easiest Easy Listening album I’ve ever heard. It’s warm, soothing, and gentle. And even though it was a grower for me, it became a favorite because of how peaceful it is; if it came out when I was in school, this would have been some go-to study music. My only complaint is the same as my initial listen: IT’S TOO DAMN SHORT! 😭

2. BAEKHYUN by Baekhyun - Baek’s Japanese debut had me hooked all the way back in January, and it’s never come off the 2021 playlist. It’s such a fun, sexy album and it has that inherently flirtatious vibe that all his Korean albums have. Truthfully it’s still my favorite solo album from him so far.

1. Don’t Fight the Feeling by EXO - Even though the title track never fully won me over, the rest of the album is gold. It’s so cheery, and even the mellower songs are upbeat in their messages. It was an excellent listen for summer, and even afterwards the songs always made me happy. It was also so special hearing them sing together as a group again, AND WITH YIXING! The album was pretty much designed to brighten your day, and for me, it brightened my whole year.

All I Got by Baekhyun - The best demonstration of Baek’s r&b vocal abilities he’s ever given us, bar none. 🙌🏻

Don’t Fight the Feeling by EXO - While it didn’t grow on me as much as I hoped, it is fun.

Flying Apsaras by Lay - Marvel at this man’s talent, creativity, musicality, AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WATCH THE DANCE PRACTICE!!!

To Be Honest + Vanilla by Kai - I’m sure if I had more time with these songs they’d be in the top 20; my favorite tracks from Peaches.

We Do by SuperM - Funky and a bit of an almost Motown sound, We Do made for a fun and groovy listen.

Zombie by Purple Kiss - From my favorite rookies of the year, an upbeat song with an inescapably catchy chorus.

And now, my official Top 20 Songs of 2021:

20. What’s Going on by Omega X: From another solid rookie group, What’s Going On has a lot of elements of the rock/rap songs that I was listening to as a teenager. Very cool. 🤘🏻

19. Rose by D.O: A preciously simplistic debut from Kyungsoo. I’m not very fond of the English version (despite his exceptional pronunciation) but this is short and sweet.

18. Bambi by Baekhyun: I could have done without the MJ look in the mv, but the song itself is luxuriously sensual, and I love the dip to his lower register on the chorus.

17. Gambler/Rush Hour by Monsta X: Both songs have specific parts that take me out of the experience and waver the immersion, but in general they’re really fun and catchy.

16. Atlantis by Shinee: This was far superior to Don’t Call Me, imho! Not only was the song much more my vibe, (the surf style bass and guitar!) but the aesthetic in the mv was FABULOUS!

15. My Love by D.O: It’s very fitting that Kyungsoo was driving to this song in the highlight medley. It’s got the perfectly relaxed rhythm for gently bobbing your head on the road; trust me, I was doing it a lot.

14. Runaway by EXO: This is the sort of song I need to be careful with, because if I hear it in the wrong frame of mind, it becomes too upsetting to listen to. Luckily, it was a perfect chore/cooking accompaniment, and omg Chanyeol KILLS the vocals in this song!

13. Just as Usual by EXO: This song has got the perfect balance of upbeat and slow; the pairing of members on the verses makes for SUCH an interesting listen, and their voices are wonderful!

12. Whippin’ by Baekhyun: I adore the whimsical instrumentation and lyrics in this song! Not only is it utterly precious, the name itself feels like an inside joke for exo-ls. 😆

11. Action Figure by WayV: This might be a controversial opinion, but WayV has some of the best harmonies among all the NCT units, damn! The confident energy in this song is so bewitching, and smooth; very befitting the title! 😎

10. I’m Fine by D.O: This one probably grew on me the most proportionately to how I originally felt about it. Not only is it the closest song thematically to Empathy, it felt the most characteristic of Kyungsoo lyrically. 😌 The sheer compassion and care present in the song makes it so heartwarming and lovely, and the melody is so soft and sweet that it’s almost always the one I randomly start singing around my house.

9. No Matter by EXO: With the sound effects and electric organ, this track reminds me so much of the songs from the 70’s that my parents would play on the radio! And tbh, I don’t think EXO and 70’s pop is a combination I’ve considered before, but omg they nailed it! With such a fun and bubbly sound, it’s no doubt the most cheerful song I’ve heard this year!

8. It’s Love/Si Fueras Mia by D.O: From Empathy, these tracks are the best display of Kyungsoo’s recognized talents as a vocalist: agility, foreign pronunciation, runs, and pure R&B tone. In fact they’re probably closest to what a lot of us had in mind when we heard about Kyungsoo getting a solo debut. And believe me, after hearing these songs I’m dreaming of a solo r&b album. They’re so heavenly and resonant that sometimes I’ll play them back to back and just swaaay.

7. Drown by Baekhyun: I loved this one from the jump; it was so deep and slow and sexy, the instrumentation is bold yet understated, and how he soars on the chorus is fantastic! It’s the perfect song you can “pretend you can carry a tune” sing to. The vocal layering is so satisfying, and the raunchy lyrics just made it that much better. I will always love how unabashedly Adult Baekhyun’s solo work is.

6. Get You Alone by Baekhyun: Fell in love with this one right away as well! I genuinely don’t understand where the hate comes from for Japanese releases. The funky retro sound, Baek’s voice, the catchy chorus; this is a BOP, okay! And none of that even addresses the awesome mv! It perfectly encapsulates Baekhyun’s duality in a clever Nerd Consults a Love Doctor concept, with suave choreo and endearing comedy.

5. Addicted by Baekhyun: Last Baekhyun entry, I promise! But what can I say, the man was determined to slay before he enlisted, and that’s just what happened. Anyway, this song started as my favorite on an album I was already loving, and it never changed. The jazzy intro is so unique, and there’s something on the instrumental that sounds like a steel drum that’s really cool, and the chorus is just that; addicting. This track is the best for dancing around in your pajamas too.

4. Ponzoña by Purple Kiss: I love when girl groups do darker concepts, and this mv is a muted violet gothic delight! The song itself is outstanding, with snippets of descending violins, excellent siren-esque vocals, and carefully punctuated drums. The outfits are amazing too; all the girls are striking and styled impeccably. It’s hard to believe this is a debut song because it’s so expertly packaged, and the members are clearly working their butts off. If you haven’t checked out Purple Kiss yet, I highly recommend them.

3. Skip Skip by Purple Kiss: If it weren’t obvious by now, I love me some whimsy. Add that to Purple Kiss’ darker edge, and you have Skip Skip. There are haunting vocalizations in the back, but in the forefront there’s a jaunty melody and something percussive that sounds like a clock ticking, with something like a recorder??? All tied together with stellar vocals. It doesn’t have an MV, but I recommend checking out the dance practice! It’s precise, but it has the the playful melancholy denoted in the lyrics. And I personally found Dosie particularly eye-catching. 😍

2. I’m Gonna Love You by D.O feat. Wonstein: Of all the kpop songs released this year, this was the one I was most anxious to learn the phonetics for so I could sing along! It’s certainly the most upbeat b-side on the album, and despite the acoustics, the chorus is groovy and surprisingly danceable! I almost always listen to it twice in a row, partly because it’s so short, but also because of its addicting melody, and how long Kyungsoo stretches those syllables! When Empathy first came out, I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d fall in love with it, but I’m so glad the tracks grew on me, especially this one. ❤️

1. Paradise by EXO: Bop of the year, hands down, full stop! What would probably be a simple catchy tune from any other group, is a three-and-a-half minute journey of musical joy thanks to exo’s vocal synergy. The boys sound better than ever, and HOLY SHIT SEHUN’S VERSE WAS GORGEOUS! Oh Sehun is a vocalist, PERIOD! And I love how the first verse and pre-chorus have something of an ‘underwater’ quality, and then the chorus has clarity like it burst out into the sun! (does that make sense?) Summary: In a year full of positive and happy songs, this one was the most infectious! You have to clap along and dance, every time. Plus an English chorus with a curse word in it??? Hell yes!!! I’m so happy that Exo made a song like this for their special album; it was just the balm I wanted for 2021. ❤️

Les Misérables! (I have so much love for this musical. It's so beautiful)

Cats (the costumes are great and the songs are super catchy)

Aida (Very underrated, and the songs are great, and Adam Pascal)

Phantom of the Opera (I love this, it's a classic)

Sweeney Todd (Funny, dark, and also gory? My aesthetic)

Count of Monte Cristo (The songs are great, the costumes are so good, and the story is emotional and I love it)

I'm not sure I have any Zelda hcs but I CAN and WILL gush about Phantom Hourglass and Skyward Sword.

Okay where do I start. Phantom Hourglass. What is there NOT to love about it? The story is so heartwarming and it makes me cry every time.

The world is so creative with so many different kinds of themes. Like, honestly, the isle of ruins, the isle of ember, and the isle of frost are brilliant.

Also the temples and bosses? I loved King Mutoh's Temple and the Temple of Courage, and how the bosses in those two include the use of ds' split screen. Also ghost ship part? I loved that we got the opportunity to go on it!! ONE LAST THING the Temple of the Ocean King gets unnecessary hate! I think the idea of going back to a Temple is very clever, not only that, but the Temple itself is very fun and has the potential of being challenging (I've cleared the Temple without using any time) - and BELLUM!! one of the most interesting and fun Zelda bosses in my opinion

AND lastly!! The CHARACTERS!! I love Ciela, Linebeck, Tetra, and Oshus. Honestly I could go on with Linebeck alone. First he's a prideful, cowardly jerk who you sorta grow to love anyway, and THEN he genuinely starts to care about Link rather than himself, even when he's afraid. I just love him sm (also his theme is one of the best themes I've ever heard for a Zelda companion)

So!! Skyward Sword! Holy crap!! First off?! The story is so good?! Like the only reason Link goes on a journey, the PRIMARY reason is bc he wants to rescue Zelda, his childhood friend. So. Pure. Yeah, call it linear, but it what it does, it does REALLY WELL.

Anyway the ART of this game?! The watercolor aesthetic?! YES PLEASE. This world feels so soft and nice. The scenery is beautiful!! And the TEMPLE DESIGN is so brilliant. Not only are the puzzles great, but the aesthetics are mm!! Like the Ancient Cistern? The Sand ship? The Skyview Temple? I love.

Also let me gush a little about the characters. I need to show some respect to my guy Groose. He goes through such an amazing arc, from being a bully to someone who's found a purpose and has become accepting and kind? We stan this himbo. Also Ghirahim may be the most INTERESTING rival to Link. He's super weird fabulous and he definitely leaves an impression. Even his arc from being a conceited adversary to a rage-filled and desperate is really great.

Oh oh oh and one last thing!! The ENTIRETY OF THE SKYWARD SWORD OST IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING
