Ledge (The Domino Effect #1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ledge (The Domino Effect #1) by Grey Huffington is about bar owner Ledge Domino and remote marketing manager Halo SaraBella. Let me start off by saying, Wow! Grey Huffington has done it again! Ledge is that man! He’s an Eisenberg through and through! Halo experienced life altering trauma during childhood to adolescence. As an adult she challenges herself to get out the house! On the day she works up the nerve to do something different she meets Ledge! It’s destiny, it’s fate, the stars align and all the other good life altering things! Even though Halo is anxious and nervous, sparks fly and chemistry boils over! I just love Ledge, he’s ready to receive Halo just as she is, he’s 10 toes down! His patience, support, his thirst for knowledge on her phobia and his understanding of boundaries are to be commended. He isn’t afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve for Halo. Ledge definitely takes after his big brother Luca. Halo has been through so much and although she runs sometimes when it comes down to it she risks it all for love 🥰 I appreciated how realistic the challenges Halo and Ledge faced in their relationship. As always Grey does an exceptional job with the female friendships, from Halo’s relationship with her bff/neighbour Kamber to her newly built relationship with Ever (Ledge’s sister-in-law). The family dynamics were everything, it was amazing to see the Eisenberg’s again! This is a really sweet story, one of hope, love and light! I didn’t want to let these characters go. P.s. I can’t wait for Lawe’s story, he a mess!
CW ~ child molestation, agoraphobia

Laike (The Eisenberg Effect #3)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Laike (The Eisenberg Effect #3) by Grey Huffington is about Laike Eisenberg and Baisleigh Carmichael. After reading “Lyric”, I highly anticipated the reuniting of Laike and Baisleigh. Right away you can tell Laike and Baisleigh really love each other, they never stopped. Their timing was just off, meeting your forever love at 11 can be difficult when you haven’t explored the world or yourself yet. Laike wasn’t wrong for setting Baisleigh free all those years ago. However he was wrong for taking so long to come back while expecting her to put her romantic life on hold until he did so 😒. If it’s one thing Laike has, it's audacity! When it comes to Baisleigh he’s gonna act the fool! 🥷🏽 Poor Baisleigh didn’t stand a chance! Her first love, someone she could depend over the years even after their breakup, he has his life together, he treats her well and the sex is spectacular. She is weak in the knees and she’s honest about that. Did I want/expect more groveling yes, however I understood why it wasn’t necessary for Baisleigh. The twists and turns in this story 😮🫢 definitely brought something different than the previous Eisenberg stories! The family dynamics are amazing as usual, I mean it’s the Eisenberg’s! I love that Laike’s family always tell him the hard truth, no sugar coating nothing! Especially the men, they held him accountable at every point! I think it’s important to have that representation of Black men holding each other accountable for their actions and how it affects their counterparts.
Overall lively story, very different from the previous two stories. My only wish is that I got to spend more time with Baisleigh and Laike outside of the drama and angst.
I’m really excited for what comes next from Grey Huffington 👀

Lyric (The Eisenburg Effect #2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lyric (The Eisenburg Effect #2) by Grey Huffington is about Lyric Eisenburg and Keanu Brinks. After reading “Luca”, I highly anticipated this book! Lyric’s last relationship ended with one of her brother’s going to prison for 8 years. So she’s a little (very) leery of getting into a relationship, it doesn’t help that she’s in love with her brothers’ best friend. It makes sense that she loves Ken, she grew up with him, she knows what type of man he is. With a slight nudge from her bestie she decides to write him about her feelings while he’s locked up. The email is everything 🥹 Lyric has a way with words. When she’s left on read, she has no choice but to move on. I completely understand Lyric’s hurt, she poured her heart out to him and to not get a response would devastate anyone. Keanu is a man of few words but a whole lot of action! When he pulls up on her, ain’t no moving on. I’m glad we got to see Ken’s inner thoughts about how much the letter meant to him, I just wish he had expressed it better to Lyric. I appreciate that both characters are flawed. Keanu with his ego/pride and Lyric with her immaturity/need for secrecy. The miscommunication trope is heavy in this one, these two flew off the handle easily and didn’t problem solve until they were forced to. Keanu definitely studied Lyric, he knows her loves, likes and dislikes and responded accordingly. He was not afraid to ball out on her, he basically said we together now so you’re my responsibility. 🖤
Overall cute story, very different vibe than Luca.  These two were doing a different kind of screwing 🫢 My only wish is that I got to spend more time with them as a couple once it was out in the open.
P.s. I’m looking forward to Laike’s story! 🥷🏽
CW ~ Mentions domestic abuse, mentions drug abuse, mentions child loss

Luca (The Eisenburg Effect #1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luca (The Eisenburg Effect #1) by Grey Huffington is about Ever Sinclair and Luca Eisenberg. Let me start off by saying it’s always great to be back in Channing City, definitely a fictional place I wouldn’t mind living in! Ever is a single mom of two beautiful little girls Essence & Emory. She packs up her babies and flees from her abusive ex, with Channing City as her final destination. Ever’s best friend Lyric is providing her shelter and supporting her next moves. Lyric is an amazing friend, I love Grey’s positive portrayal of friendship between Black women, it’s so accurate! One thing for certain Black women are going to ride for each other! After years of financial, emotional and physical business Ever is ready to set herself up and is enjoying her freedom/independence. On Ever’s rare off day, her mother takes the kids and Lyric forces her on a quick road trip to pick up her older brother Luca that has been incarcerated their entire friendship. The moment Luca and Ever meet it’s a wrap for both of them! It’s giving all the Insta love vibes 🥰 Luca is a compassionate gangsta through and through He’s a teddy bear for Ever and the girls. All Luca wants to do is take care of Ever and those little girls became his babies. Luca is daddy and Daddy!! That fresh out D hit different 🤤 Luca had Ever folded up whew 🔥 This book has everything I like in a story (no spoilers 🤫)🤎 I cannot forgot to mention the amazing family dynamics! This is definitely one of my top reads of the year, I’ll definitely be rereading. I can’t wait to read the other Eisenburg siblings stories.
CW~ mentions domestic abuse, physical assault  occurs on page

Malachi (Berkeley Bred #1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Malachi (Berkeley Bred #1) by Grey Huffington is about Malachi Domino and Aeir Rothshire. Malachi is a widower and single father to 2 year old Aussie. Malachi lost his wife Anna tragically and hasn’t adjusted well. He’s living off the land with his baby girl. They don’t have too many visitors, he’s understandably become a grumpy hermit. But Anna left him with plans and instructions that he has to follow through after all he’s never broken a promise to her and he’s not going to start now. He needs a homeschool teacher for Aussie. Aeir has been in a coma for 2 years, when she awakens feels both the same and different. She still wants to fulfill her purpose as an educator but she’s also being called for something more. This book started slow but it set the scene. You get to see/feel the dynamic of Malachi and Anna so when tragedy strikes you feel it, just as Malachi does. When you get a second chance at life you go all out, Aeir has the right idea. The strong spiritual/paranormal elements are an added bonus to the story. It’s very vivid, I imagined everything as I read like a movie was going in my head.
Malachi went through extreme hot and cold temperaments with Aeir which was understandable because grief will do that. Aeir had a spiritual connection urging her towards Malachi and he didn’t have that, although Anna is the connecting piece between them. I mean their initial attraction to each other is because of Anna. They’re just coming from two different places mentally and emotionally.
There were a couple of instances where Aeir called Malachi out on his back and forth. I’m glad she stood up for herself because she really was in a tough position. Aussie is so sweet and brilliant. I wanted to spend more time with the couple after the air was clear. As well as them as a trio! Overall, although it’s an emotional read I did enjoy the story!
P.s. I can’t wait to read about the other Domino brothers and hopefully Aeir’s bestie Rae gets a story.
~CW - Death of a spouse, grief, death of parents and mentions car accident
