Lyric (The Eisenburg Effect #2)

Lyric (The Eisenburg Effect #2) by Grey Huffington is about Lyric Eisenburg and Keanu Brinks. After reading “Luca”, I highly anticipated this book! Lyric’s last relationship ended with one of her brother’s going to prison for 8 years. So she’s a little (very) leery of getting into a relationship, it doesn’t help that she’s in love with her brothers’ best friend. It makes sense that she loves Ken, she grew up with him, she knows what type of man he is. With a slight nudge from her bestie she decides to write him about her feelings while he’s locked up. The email is everything 🥹 Lyric has a way with words. When she’s left on read, she has no choice but to move on. I completely understand Lyric’s hurt, she poured her heart out to him and to not get a response would devastate anyone. Keanu is a man of few words but a whole lot of action! When he pulls up on her, ain’t no moving on. I’m glad we got to see Ken’s inner thoughts about how much the letter meant to him, I just wish he had expressed it better to Lyric. I appreciate that both characters are flawed. Keanu with his ego/pride and Lyric with her immaturity/need for secrecy. The miscommunication trope is heavy in this one, these two flew off the handle easily and didn’t problem solve until they were forced to. Keanu definitely studied Lyric, he knows her loves, likes and dislikes and responded accordingly. He was not afraid to ball out on her, he basically said we together now so you’re my responsibility. 🖤 

Overall cute story, very different vibe than Luca.  These two were doing a different kind of screwing 🫢 My only wish is that I got to spend more time with them as a couple once it was out in the open.

P.s. I’m looking forward to Laike’s story! 🥷🏽

The ones that really stick out to me:

▫️Hearing Lifestyle by Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan takes me right back to Shiloh Carter’s birthday party! That party was… let’s just say it was going DOWN😭

▫️As SOON as I think about Bambi by Ladii Nesha I break out in song fr! “Letssss stayyyy together! DONT DO IT FOR THE KIDS, DO IT FOR MEEEE!” That was King’s WHOLE mood when Bambi was playing games 😂

▫️I can’t even LOOK at the cover of Shortie Like Mine by NiNi Simone without going back in the Time Machine! Shortie like mine was my song as a kid (made a dance and everything 😂). I love me some Josiah and Seven!

This just reminds me of the power of writing and really art itself! The way music and books (or the combination of the two) can become engraved in you is fascinating! The CULTURE! The IMPACT! It can’t be faked! If you got it, you GOT IT; and if you don’t you don’t. (That’s no shade just facts!)
