Figure-Rise Amplified X 30MM MailBirdramon/MetalGreymon (2010 Anime Version) Custom
This was probably the most ambition custom project I've ever worked on. Not only was MailBirdramon enormous, but it was a mix of multiple kits and was a lot of fusing of parts through glue, not just natural connection points. It was a very long process to paint, too. But I'm glad I did it, and I'm happy it turned out so well.
The Details: So the composition of MailBirdramon is made primarily of three 30MM kits; the Provedel, the Cannon Bike, and the Tiltrotor, along with an assembly of other random pieces I had in my big basement bin. Also, just like I used the Lfrith's shoulders for Greymon's headphones, I used the Lfrith's hips as MailBirdramon's. The only other non-30MM piece I used was I cut up the claw arm from the MetalGreymon kit I made Greymon 2010 out of and used that for the front of the mask.

As for colors, I used the navy I had from color matching for Cyberdramon (who I have not reviewed yet), as well as black, red, and gunmetal. There was also some of Greymon's blue used on the large sub-arm that holds the claw for continuity. Specifically for MailBirdramon's face, since the Cannon Bike has a translucent windscreen, I painted the underside to keep the sheen, and then used the natural grooves to paint the eyes on top.

For the combination, the mask rests on the head, but there are some grooves the sit snugly inside Greymon's headphones. The neck plugs into the tail via a port I added to Greymon when I was building it. I added a small piece to Greymon's chest in between builds to accommodate the chest plate. As for the backpack and arm, I changed things up so the claw arm attaches to the backpack instead of covering the natural arm, and the backpack attaches to the back via two repurposed ball joints from MetalGreymon's wings.

Overall, again, very happy with how this turned out. Not sure if I'm going to do Deckerdramon or my own WaruMonzaemon in the future, but I don't have any plans to at the moment. I've also been so preoccupied with customs recently that my straight builds have been piling up, so I plan on getting through a bunch of those before I move onto my next one.
Of course I say that, but if an Avalanche Exia or a Beginning 30 shows up at my door, I might be tempted to work on some of my theoretical Build Divers Super stuff.

Digimons that are most likely the legend level, aka the level beyond ultra/super ultimate, if it existed
Megadarknessbargamon (an enhanced form of the original darknessbargamon, a powered up version of darknessknightmon after bargamon took over the fusion, much larger and much more powerful, was however oneshot, by Shoutmon x7f superior mode, which managed to oneshot zeedmillenimumon, so we don’t know how powerful megadarknessbargamon actually is)
Shoutmon ex6 (fusing six digimon that are at least prefect/ultimate, zeekgreymon, which is a digivolved form of metalgreymon (2010), made up of greymon (2010) and mailbirdmon, omnishoutmon, raptorsparrowmon, jagerdorulumon, and alturballistamon, and can use shootingstarmon as a weapon too.)
Ultimatechaosmon (a fusion between chaosmon, being fusion between a bancho, bancholeomon, and the secret weapon of the d brigade, darkdramon, as well as two other mega level digimon, which inculde a royal knight, kentaurosmon, and the god of bird digimon, valdurmon.)
Huanglongmon (same situation as ultimate chaosmon.)
Abaddomon Core (abaddomon seems to be close to the power of ultra, and its core was able to trade blows with Omnimon and omnimon alter s.)
Haunglongmon Ruin Mode (huanglongmon but not holding back and corrupted.)
Ogudomon (the seven demon lords fused together into one, this is not even counting their x antibody.)
Susanoomon (10 digimon are literally apart of susanoomon, and it can recreate the world.)
Omnimon Merciful Mode (clapped ordinemon as soon as it was formed, which Omnimon struggled with, plus also has the power of all the digidestined.)
Ogudomon X (now imagine Ogudomon with the x antibody, which was created by 7 diaboromon x absorbing the power of the seven demon lords in their x antibody form, was only defeated by Jesmon GX, how has access to the OS Generics, allowing them to defy physics and was given the powers of all the x antibody royal knights.)
Zeedmillenniummon (with their bands no longer around them definitely, that’s why they are around them, as they are so powerful, no digimon could even stand a chance to match them, only the digidestined were able to stop it after they gained the power form digimon across the digital world.)
Shoutmon x7 superior mode (the fusion between a huge amount of digimon, all across the digital world, so many infact, that their body couldnt take in all the digimon, causing the remaining digimon to rotate around them, Shoutmon x7 superior mode is able to one shot a digimon that is definitely a level beyond ultra, Ultimatechaosmon, and could probably have also defeated zeedmillenniummon too.)
Gaiamon (imagine if a digimon fused with an entire planet, that would get you Gaiamon, no digimon has achieved it before, but if they did, they would probably be stronger than even Shoutmon x7f superior mode, who has oneshot unbound zeedmillenniummon.)

Okay, so now for a big VA Trivia. We’ve technically got over 20 people here, so it ain’t gonna fit on an ask. This is only going to cover the original adventure, for sake of brevity. TK's VA will probably be the most interesting to you
Taichi is voiced by Toshiko Fujita, whose other roles include voicing Jerry from Tom and Jerry. Tai is voiced by Joshua Seth, who was Tetsuo in the Pioneer dub of AKIRA.
Yamato is voiced by Yuuto Kazama, who other roles include Zero from Megaman, and Tabitha from Pokemon. Matt is played by Michael Reisz, who played the Ninja Turtle Michaelangelo in Power Rangers In Space and Kevin 11 in his first appearence.
Sora in Japanese is played by Yuko Mizutani, who also played Buffy Summers, Minnie Mouse, and Iris in Megaman X4. Iris is a love interest to the aforementioned Zero, though not in a game where Yuuto Kazama voiced him. In English, she’s voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessy, whose other roles include Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog, and Jazz Fenton from Danny Phantom
Koushiro is voiced by Umi Tenjin, who doesn’t seem to have many other roles. Izzy is played by Mona Marshall, who also plays Doraemon, Terriermon’s evolution line and Lucemon in later Digimon seasons, Li Syaoran in the second Cardcaptor Sakura Movie, and Kyle’s Mom on South Park.
Mimi in Japanese is played by Ai Maeda, who was also Sailor Pluto in Sailor Moon Crystal. She also sang the endings for Digimon anime up through Frontier. In English she’s Philece Sampler, who was also Cody in Digimon Adventure 02, and Toph Beifong in Legend of Korra.
Jou is played by Masami Kikuchi, who is also the narrator in Digimon Frontier and Akihiro Kurata in Digimon Savers. Additionally he plays Baki Hanma in Baki the Grappler, Monaka and Belmod in DB Super, and Sonic the Hedgehog in the 96 OVA. Joe is played by Michael Lindsay, who is also Greymon in the dub.
TK is played by Wendee Lee, and incredibly prolific VA whose roles include Bulma in the Harmony Gold dub of Dragonball and Bang Zoom dub of Dragonball Super, Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop, Haruhi Suzumiya, Athena Cykes in Ace Attorney, and both Miu Iruma and Akane Owari in Danganronpa. Takeru is played by Hiroko Konishi, who also played Bridget in Guilty Gear, Akane Kimidori in Doctor Slump, Roll in Megaman 8, and Lilith Aensland from Darkstalkers. Unfortunately, Konishi’s career as a Voice Actor has basically ended as a result of speaking out against sexual harassment in the industry during the MeToo movement
Hikari is played by Kae Araki, who was Chibi-Usa in Sailor Moon, and Sabrina in Pokemon. Kari is voiced by Lara Jill Miller, who played Chirithy in Kingdom Hearts.
The Agumon line in Japanese by Chika Sakamoto, who also played Donald Duck’s nephews in Ducktales and Kingdom Hearts, as well as Ma-Ti in Captain Planet. In English Agumon is played by Tom Fahn, who doesn’t have any other roles you’d know. Metal Greymon is played by Joseph Pilato, who is best known as Captain Henry Rhodes in the George Romero Zombie film Day of the Dead, where he iconically told a horde of Zombies to “Choke on’Em!” as he was being devoured. WarGreymon was voiced by Lex Lang, who is known for playing Goemon in Lupin III, Kenshiro in Fist of the North Star, Goku in Bang Zoom’s Dragonball Super Dub,Blue the Velociraptor in Jurassic World, The Sentinels in Days of Future Past, and Silver Samurai in the Wolverine.
The Gabumon line in Japanese is played by Mayumi Yamaguchi, who was also Envy in Fullmetal Alchemist (the original anime). In English Gabumon’s line is played by Kirk Thornton, who also played Mummymon in Adventure 02. He has been the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog since 2010, and also played Saix and Isa in Kingdom Hearts.
Piyomon’s Line is played by Atori Shigematsu, who doesn’t seem to have any other roles. Biyomon is voiced by Tifanie Christun, who would also play Yolei in Adventure 02. She also played the Female Ninja Turtle Venus De Milo when the character appeared on Power Rangers. Birdamon and above are played by Melodee Spevack, who also played Lady Devimon. Her other rolls include Mai in the Harmony Gold Dragon Ball dub.
In Japanese the Tentomon line is played by Takahiro Sakurai, who is known for playing Cloud Strife in the FFVII compilation was well as Dissidia, Kingdom Hearts, and Smash Bros. He is also Griffith from Berserk, Leon in Pokemon Twilight Wings and Masters, Keon Kuwta in Danganronpa, Edward Cullen, Robert Pattinson’s Batman. Additionally he played Adult Koushiro in the Digimon 02 epilogue. Tentomon’s line in English was played by Jeff Nimoy, who also wrote, and directed the English dub as well as playing Gennai. He’s Spock’s second cousin.
The Palmon line in Japanese is voiced by Kinomi Yamada, who has no other notable roles. In English Palmon is voiced by Anna Garduno, who that also applies to. Togemon is voiced by Mari Devon, who voiced Arukenimon in 02 and the Renamon line in Tamers. Lilymon is voiced by Dorthy Elias-Fahn, who is Saiyaka Maizono, Chihiro Fujisaki, and Tsumugi Shirogane in Danganronpa. She is also the wife of Tom Fahn, Agumon’s VA.
Gomamon’s line is voiced by Junko Takeuchi, who is best known as the title character of Naruto. She is also Dawn Bellweather in Zootopia, Gumball Waterson, Mr. Beast the youtuber, Mokuba Kaiba from YuGiOh, and Red in Pokemon Origins. Gomamon and Ikkakumon in English are voiced by R. Martin Klein, whose others roles don’t include anything you’d have heard of. Zudomon is voiced by Michael Sorich, who is also Andromon and Elecmon. He also plays several characters in Naruto, and Doctor Huesca in Master Detective Archive.
In Japanese the Patamon Line is voiced by Miwa Matsumoto, whose only other role of note that I can find is Chiharu from Cardcaptor Sakura. In English Patamon is voiced by Laura Summer, who also played Janine Melnitz on The Real Ghostbusters, until she was recast because people complained that the character was too “edgy and sexy” for young girls. Angemon and MagnaAngemon are voiced by Dave Mallow, who was Oolong in the Harmony Gold Dub of Dragonball, Akuma in Street Fighter, and Richard Nixon in Call of Duty.
The Tailmon line is played by Yuko Tokumitsu, who is also Mimi’s mother. The Gatomon line is played by Edie Mirman, who was Launch in the Harmony Gold dub of Dragonball, and Fujiko Mine in Lupin III.

I know as a society we all collectively got over the concept of night-blogging and I really shouldn’t be pulling this in 2020
BUT HEAR ME OUT DIGIMON FANDOM.
In Tri it’s explained that there are multiple planes of existence in the universe and the Digital World exists on one of those planes, which I assume is a bit different than the usual widely accepted 7 planes, so we’ll refer to it as the Digital plane.
Now talking about Adventure: or the reboot, firstly it has not yet been established whether the first Digimon movie where Taichi and Hikari meet Koromon as kids still holds true or not in this version so the question arises, how does Koromon call out to Taichi in the first episode? It could just be attributed to their bond as partners and Koromon just knows his name because that’s how it’s supposed to be, which I am cool with.
And yet in the second episode, Garurumon and Greymon interact with each other with a sense of familiarity that looks a bit out of place for the current setting. If Koromon just evolved into Agumon and then Greymon for the first time after meeting Taichi, then it should be Garurumon’s first meeting with this Greymon. But of course the objection here would be, that they probably hang out as Koromon and Tsunamon in the Digital World and seemed to recognise the essence of their friend in the evolved version. However, it’s been very clearly stated that Yamato has been in and out of the network before Taichi which means he’s obviously been spending time with Gabumon/Garurumon and that doesn’t really leave that many opportunities for Koromon, Tsunamon to chill out together.
Lastly, the quick evolution into Omegamon. From what we have been told through the previous series’ is that the partners need to be mentally aligned to get their Digimon to jogress evolve and considering the situation, it was easy for Taichi and Yamato to get on the same wavelength and contribute to the evolution. But what about the Digimon? Are they capable of jogress evolving with a fellow Digimon that they just met, only because their partners are aligned mentally? Wouldn’t the Digimon also require some level of alignment with the other party to pull this off so quickly? Of course it can be explained that the jogress was successful not just because of Taichi and Yamato, but through the support of esper siblings Hikari and Takeru and their partners from the background.
But here’s my theory.
The reboot is an alternate reality of the original Adventure-verse for just the children but not the Digimon. In other words, the Digimon are the same Digimon from the original timeline, retaining all the data and memories of that version.
This theory involves major Kizuna spoilers from this point onwards so please don’t read ahead if you do not wish to see them.
As per Kizuna, when you turn into an adult and you walk down a singular path, limiting your possibilities of the future, your bond with your Digimon partner weakens, gradually making the Digimon lose form. Taichi and Yamato end up losing Agumon and Gabumon at the end of the movie but the overarching vibe is that they’re hoping that if they continue to grow and work hard, they will eventually see their Digimon again as their bonds are eternal. If this trajectory is to be followed, eventually all the other Digidestined end up losing their Digmon once they settle in their lives.
Digimon, are in the end made up of data so even if their physical form were to disappear, I believe that the essence of their data will remain in the Digital plane of existence.
If we consider the possibility of parallel universes overlapping each other and look at the timeline of both the original Adventure series and Adventure: , it’s not a far reach to assume that it is an Earth 1/Earth 2 type of situation at play here. The functioning would be quite similar to what we see in DC comics, where each Earth is following a different kind of linear progression, and all infinite outcomes of a single course of action exist over different parallel worlds.
To equate this with Digimon, the original Adventure franchise follows a time line from 2000 to 2010, 2010 being the year when Taichi and Yamato lose their partners and subsequently the same happens with the other children, closing the curtain (for the audience) on the interaction between the Digital Plane and Earth 1.
But like they said, the Digimon and their Bonds with their partners are eternal.
So the curtain opens on Earth 2 in 2020, where both the the Real and the Digital world have developed and evolved rapidly, making it easier for them to interact. The essence/data of the Digimon has had enough time (it anyway moves differently in the Digital plane) since 2010 to re-birth themselves through Digi-eggs. The Digimon are now ready to once again, find their partners and continue their adventure. So here we have, Earth 2 Taichi running into Koromon and thus starting the cycle once again.
Now, Omegamon. I assume it would be easier for Agumon and Gabumon to digivolve into Omegamon at literally the drop of a hat, if they already had the data of that evolution stored into them from their Earth 1 memories.
Apart from the questions I posted in the first half, another reason I am putting all my faith in this theory is that they continue to give the same voices to the Digimon (albeit Tailmon but I feel like that’s a professional issue and not a production one). I know, it would have been immensely difficult to re-cast the voices and keep the fans happy at the same time, but think about the long-term scenario, if Toei plans to build the reboot up as another 20 year long franchise, wouldn’t it have been better to re-cast the Digimon as well, give them new quirks and personalities? Cultivate a new generation of fans of the new version of Agumon? But they chose to go with the original ones, and I think it’s because they’re literally the same Digimon, memory of past life intact and all. This isn’t as good a reason to buy into my theory, but still I’d like to put it out there.
It would be unfair for me to just base this all on Greymon and Garurumon’s interactions and I’d have to wait of course, for all the other Digimon partners to show up and observe the dynamics closely to see if this has any standing or not.
But I still think it will be a nice way to keep the franchise afloat for many years, if they just keep switching between the parallel worlds with new versions of the Children every once in a while.

Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna Movie Review
I've seen the film. It was pretty good! Spoilers under the cut.
So, before I watched it, I did read a few bits and pieces of random spoilers. However, I did NOT read the novel – because I wanted to judge the film on its own merits and not be thinking about “what the novel did better”. But I knew things like most characters were sidelined, who the villain was, and how the movie ends. I still have not read the novel.
This is not a “proper” review of the movie -- because what’s the fun in that? You can google actual reviews of the movie by anime websites, if that’s what you’re after. These are just my personal thoughts, impressions and fangirl ramblings (I bias Yamato hard). Plus, a few comments from two others I went to the screening with for a different perspective.
It was like nerd city at the movie theatre, LOL. So. Many. Nerds. Some people even brought Digimon plush toys to the screening! I’ve never witnessed that before. It was great though, being surrounded by so many Digimon fans. I think the cinema was more than half full -- and this was an 800-seat cinema! 400+ Digimon fans? Whoa! I actually thought like only 20 people would show up, LOL.
I tried to put the following thoughts in “order” but some of it isn’t due to the nature of what they’re about . . . plus, I couldn’t 100% remember what order the scenes were in.
Screen time distribution (most to least): Taichi/Yamato, Koushirou, the 02 kids (roughly: Takeru, Hikari, Daisuke, Miyako, Ken, Iori), Mimi, Jou, a hamburger, a whistle, a beer, Sora. (Sora got shafted hard.)
Taichi was exactly just Taichi, which is 1000x better than tri. Taichi. He really did seem like a 22-year-old version of Adventure Taichi, beer-drinking and porn-watching and all. Thank you, Toei. Please don’t fuck him up in the reboot. (Although maybe that’s the idea?)
Yamato is the coolest motherfucker on a motorcycle. He looked SO DAMN GOOD in this movie. There were even a few gratuitous shots of his arse for no apparent reason, LOL. Or maybe that’s just me thinking, whenever he’s bending over or his back’s to us, “That’s a nice arse.” XD (HE IS THE ONLY 2D CHARACTER I THIRST FOR, I PROMISE. I’m actually engaged to Jungkook of BTS.)
Koushirou was the same old Koushirou we all know and love, doing smart stuff and generally being useful. He has no pointed interest in clothes or girls (Koumi began and died in tri., you guys). When it was shown that he was a company president, some people in the audience laughed, lol.
Takeru was pretty bland. I guess tri. Takeru will always be the definitive Takeru to me. This Takeru definitely evolved straight from 02 Takeru (who was also bland AF). But he was fine? I miss overly confident, charming Takeru. Also, where was your crush on your big bro??? lol
Hikari . . . was also fine? I don’t have much to say about her. I like tri. Hikari better (because she was cute? *shallow*). This Hikari was just serviceable. I think because everyone really is just playing second fiddle to Taichi and Yamato, they didn’t really add charms to the other characters. They just . . . serve the plot. And it seemed, at the beginning of the movie, that Takeru and Hikari were going to be in it a lot -- but they have most of their scenes in the first third-ish of the movie before disappearing until the end.
Daisuke was also exactly the same. But I’ve never been a fan of him, nor do I hate him (though he did get on my nerves in 02 sometimes . . .). I just don’t care about him, or any of the 02 kids, personally. :P
I don’t think Ken had a personality in this movie, LOL. He was fine, though. Serviceable. I’m sorry I lack opinions here, but there really wasn’t much to go on. He has no Kaiser issues or anything, he just seems like a normal, well-adjusted kid . . . with no personality, lol.
Iori didn’t have a personality either -- but everyone has always known that. Ha! XP He is just an extra reading lines. I found it odd that he seems so short though? I kept thinking he was still a 9-year-old because of the height difference between him and the others . . . I think Toei forgot that HE IS 17 AND THUS SHOULD BE VERY CLOSE TO FULL ADULT HEIGHT. Puberty is amazing, Toei! (Yeah, he can just be a really short person, I know. I wouldn’t have made that design choice, though. Especially when he’s short compared to Daisuke . . . who is short compared to Yamato . . . and Iori really is a midget.)
Miyako . . . it’s probably due to her voice actress, but she was SO LOUD. And I found her annoying because of it. In fact, she was the only annoying character in the movie to me. Loud people can be charming . . . but I didn’t find her charming. Sorry, Miyako fans. =\
Mimi has an e-commerce startup at 21, lol. OK, you go girl. She was definitely shafted, but she was in it a bit more than Jou I think, and definitely more than poor Sora. Probably a few minutes? Yeah, not a lot, especially compared to Taichi and Yamato. In one of her (four?) scenes, she loses consciousness and ends up in the hospital -- and Taichi, Koushirou and Jou are in her hospital room when Yamato bursts in and goes, “Jou!” You know, instead of acknowledging Mimi, THE COMATOSE FRIEND IN THE HOSPITAL BED. I just found it funny that’s how they chose to frame that scene. :P
Jou only had a few lines, but he was still in it more than Sora. But he is really just a doctor here. He could’ve been an extra hired for a doctor role and I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference, lol. Oh, Toei, please give all the characters almost-equal screen time in the reboot? Please???
Sora had like four lines and thirty seconds of screen time, TOTAL. I think the decision to hold her back from THE ENTIRE PLOT was SOLELY to have the scene where she reacts to Taichi blowing the whistle, so you know that the sound is going out of Neverland and reaching the real world (or whatever dramatic effect they were going for). I really think that’s it. That, or her voice actress did something terrible to Toei and they’re punishing her. :P
The movie basically opens up with Parrotmon attacking. Takeru was the first to be shown, then Hikari, then Taichi. Taichi is wearing those special goggles Koushirou made for him and he looked goofy AF lol. At one point, Greymon tackles Parrotmon into a building where you see some people inside running away from the rubble. My sister said (without knowing anything about tri.): “Does Tai not care that his digimon definitely just killed some people in that building?” I chuckled because . . . well. ;)
Yamato enters the scene COOL AS FUCK on his motorcycle (most of his entrance is shown in a clip that Toei released) and thank you Toei for doing that for him. He deserves a showy entrance. :) Although I do find it funny that he’s obsessed with motorcycles, given I still remember giggling as a kid at him NOT liking riding on the back of some guy’s scooter in Digimon: The Movie.
The music was nice and nostalgic and I have no complaints.
There is a quick scene of Yamato seeing a kid in a music store getting a harmonica, and watching a street performer singing. Obviously he’s thinking about his passion for music as a kid/teen (and his childhood in general?) and it was a nice touch. I think by the end of the movie you would’ve understood that Yamato was letting go of his past (childhood) and heading towards the future (adulthood).
A friend of Yamato’s makes a comment to him that Japan’s Self-Defense Forces are going to recruit him into the military due to his experience as a Chosen Child. Yamato replies, “that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard”. BUT . . . this is Kizuna telling you EXACTLY what is going to happen, lol. I actually “predicted” Yamato’s career path years ago -- but it wasn’t hard, as there is really only two ways it could’ve gone, lol. Military test pilot or commercial air pilot -- which one, especially given the context Kizuna just gave us, is more likely? ;)
Yamato is shown wearing GLASSES in class (looking nerd-hot AF). Toei Animation must not have researched Yamato’s astronaut career as intensively as I did, and therefore did not know that astronauts need 20/20 vision lol. Oh well, he can get it corrected. :p (Or, he doesn’t actually need glasses but WEARS THEM AS A FASHION STATEMENT. Because I can believe that. XD)
I think Yamato had about three different outfits in the movie? And he looked good in all of them. Are there people out there who think he’s not fashionable? I'd find that opinion strange, given the fact that the staff behind 02 and tri. were actively designing him as the well-dressed cool guy of the group. He wears exactly the kind of clothes the well-dressed cool guys at my high school/university wore. Sure, sometimes they force green tops on him purely for nostalgic reasons and it therefore clashes -- there is only so much you can do with a green top -- but overall, he is supposed to come across as someone who cares about his appearance. If you don’t think so, you’re either not into fashion or you aren’t aware of 2005-2010 fashion as a teen/young adult. (If Yamato was a millionaire, I’m sure he’d dress identical to BTS with super expensive clothes lol. But he dresses very well for a “normal” person. :p)
Taichi was shown with two of his friends who were asking him about his aspirations or something, and the guy looked like an unattractive nerd. My sister said: “I didn’t like how they showed Tai with sloppy friends, but showed Matt with good-looking people.” LOL. Her favourite as a kid was Taichi, BTW. XD;
Menoa and Imura were . . . OK characters. Menoa seemed likeable enough at first, but when her real intentions were revealed she turned into a typical, crazy, possessed villain. Imura was really just there to service the plot, like a necessary extra on set. There was nothing more to him.
Menoa’s English is terrible. And it’s very noticeable because she inserts random English words into her Japanese sentences, lol. I laughed when Koushirou told her that her Japanese is very good (because SHE IS ACTUALLY FLUENT IN JAPANESE . . . and not so much in English). Yes, I know it’s because it’s a Japanese voice actress -- but it was still funny every time she spoke heavily accented English, followed by fluent Japanese. :P
Menoa’s partner digimon, Morphomon, was cute in design. Eosmon was the villain digimon and was Menoa’s attempt at recreating Morphomon, who disappeared on her. Does this sound kind of familiar? lol
Omegamon devolves into Koromon and Tsunomon when fighting against Eosmon. Back in Koushirou’s office, Menoa explains that you only have a limited amount of time with your digimon before they disappear and that fighting accelerates it. Taichi has a circle of lights on his digivice that lose a bar of light every time he fights with Agumon. When the lights all disappear, Agumon will disappear. Koushirou and Takeru look at their digivices to check if they’ve got it – they don’t, and they are relieved. Yamato then checks his and . . . well. He has it. His eyes start watering and he storms out of the room saying something along the lines of his bond with Gabumon will not be broken. I FUCKING LOVED THIS SCENE. Top 3 in the movie for me, personally. We all have weaknesses. Emo Yamato is mine, lol. I like it when he gets so emotional he cries in front of other people. :3
The “porn stash” scene with Agumon at Taichi’s apartment was HILARIOUS. The funniest scene of the movie. Everyone in the cinema laughed so hard. It was Taichi’s reaction that sold it -- it was BRILLIANT. The magazines actually had girls on the cover wearing bikinis, so, at least Agumon kept his innocence! lol
Gennai randomly appears in Taichi’s apartment to confirm the thing everyone should’ve always known (but that they just made up for Kizuna and which DEFINITELY led to “creative differences” with Digimon series director Hiroyuki Kakudou). This, of course, would be the whole idea that the more you “grow up”, the more your bond with your partner digimon breaks until, eventually, they disappear. Does the idea have problems? Yep. Menoa lost her partner digimon Morphomon at age 14 because she decided to accelerate her learning and go to university . . . meanwhile, Koushirou is the president of his own freaking company and still has Tentomon by his side. Yeah, OK, Kizuna. And, sure, you can argue that it’s about BECOMING AN ADULT -- but I think you’d just be drawing lines where YOU want to draw them. How mature is 14-year-old Menoa to be an “adult”? Is Koushirou really not mature enough at 21? And what about Jou, who I definitely think is an adult in all sense of the word? And so on. So arguments about this I think are valid, but at the same time . . . it’s Digimon. I think it’s a flawed idea but I also just shrug and accept it as it is, lol.
I “love” how Gennai just pops in when it’s convenient to the plot. Hello Gennai, what’s dark Gennai up to? Have you seen him around licking underaged girls anywhere? No? You’re just popping by to confirm shit to Taichi? OK, cool. See you in the tri. sequel, never. (He actually does give Taichi a reasonable answer as to why the growth/bond thing was never brought up before: that it’s like talking about how long you have to live. I bought it.)
Yamato is basically the reason the 02 kids are even in the movie, lol. He asks them to investigate Imura and Menoa for him and they do so. They contact him later on with info and they ask that he take them out for okonomiyaki (which is awful by the way, lol) as thanks and he smiles and says he can do that. This is just a nice exchange between them. :)
Yamato eventually confronts Imura (or is it the other way around, lol) and Imura HAS A GUN. Which was surprising to me because I remember that in the English dub, Puppetmon’s gun was censored, so seeing a gun in a Digimon movie was a little surprising. Anyway, Yamato doesn’t seem concerned by the fact that this dude can just shoot him dead, lol. Gabumon is with him, but still. Imura can still kill you before Gabumon kills him, you know. XD But it’s all good because Imura turns out to be an undercover FBI agent who wants to arrest Menoa, THE REAL VILLAIN. I was spoiled with this so no surprise.
There is a scene where Yamato has his hand tenderly on Takeru’s face because he lost consciousness. It was sweet, but I would’ve liked it more if Takeru had more of a personality in the film so I could actually care about him, lol. Yamato’s such a caring big brother, though. :)
Yamato was perfect in this movie. PERFECT. I had a few issues with his characterisation in tri. (I think he was, overall, about 80% Yamato), but he was ALL YAMATO, ALL THE TIME here. He is my favourite fictional character of all time, so DEAL WITH THE BIAS. I love him and, honestly, Yamato>Taichi all day, every day. I totally understand you, Sora. DON’T @ ME TAICHI STANS. XP
The ONLY minor quibble I had was that Yamato asks Taichi if they should really try to save the other kids, because fighting means it speeds up their bonds breaking. My quibble is: YAMATO IS NOT FUCKING SELFISH. He’s SO selfless. He would fight to save the other kids NO QUESTIONS, even if it meant he’s accelerating the destruction of his bond with Gabumon. But I give this scene a huge pass because it basically had to go like that, because ONE person out of Taichi/Yamato had to be reluctant so that the OTHER person pushes forward and has a “hero” moment. And who’s going to get that “hero” moment? The actual hero and MAIN CHARACTER of Digimon, Taichi, of course. SO I GET IT. I even agree and would’ve written it that way too, for Taichi to be the leader and reassure Yamato that this is what they’re doing (unlike in tri. where Yamato 1000% deserved the mantle of LEADER and Taichi could’ve whinged off the edge of a cliff and I. WOULD. NOT. CARE.). BUT I will still rant about this 30 second scene in my blog and scream to the universe that Yamato Ishida is the most selfless fictional being on the face of the planet and you better fucking know it. :)
Menoa is Maki 2.0. As soon as Menoa is revealed as being behind the evil stuff, she is instantly psychotic. So Maki 2.0 she definitely is. But . . . I don’t really care. Could Toei have been more original? Yes. But I can’t be bothered to criticise them for recycling a plot, because I’d rather criticise tri. for doing it in the first place, LOL. OK, honestly? At least Menoa’s plot had an actual resolution, instead of Maki being revealed and then . . . fucking off out of the entire series so abruptly. Like??? Kizuna followed through with it, tri. did not. That’s why I’m OK with the rehash, because Kizuna did tri.’s plot better. (Maki’s plot would’ve been good if the tri. writers didn’t get lazy AF at the end and just . . . didn’t . . . finish it.) I might also be giving Kizuna a huge pass because it made me feel things, lol.
The movie really picks up after Menoa reveals her intentions and they end up in Neverland (a place she created in the Digital World?) where she claims all the Chosen Children can stay as children with their partner digimon forever. It became a lot more interesting after that. But that’s also near the climax, lol.
In Neverland, all the kids who have lost consciousness are in their child forms (from the first season) and are basically Menoa’s puppets. This was really cool; it not only gave you nostalgic feels to see them like that, but it was also pretty creepy to see them with glowing red eyes. The Chosen Children, as kids, attack Taichi and Yamato. I laughed when Patamon attacked Yamato’s face and Tentomon tackled Taichi, lol. But I have to say though that Sora’s absence was VERY glaring here. Because . . . everyone was there, but her. :(
Other Chosen Children from the past are present in Neverland too. I FREAKING SAW MICHAEL, MIMI’S AMERICAN FRIEND, STANDING BEHIND HER. I was so surprised at his appearance that I didn’t catch anyone else. There were definitely others, but I didn’t make them out at all because I was so caught off-guard with Michael. XD; (I DON’T EVEN GIVE A SHIT ABOUT HIM, LOL.)
Someone said that Taichi called out Meiko’s name in the movie . . . well, I’m pretty sure that Yamato does, and he calls her by her last name, “Mochizuki”. This is when they’re in Neverland and Menoa shows them her “collection” of Chosen Children. Meiko pops up for one second. It was like Kizuna went, “Oh! Hey, tri. existed by the way. Now let’s move on.” lol
While being attacked by the Chosen “puppets” in Neverland, Taichi manages to reach his hand out and grab Hikari’s whistle and blow it -- effectively “waking” them all up from their puppet states. Everyone in the cinema got hit with audible FEELS, because when Taichi blew Hikari’s whistle the screen flashbacked to that scene from the first movie. I found the collective audience reaction more powerful than the scene itself, lol. But I really liked it, too. :)
So while everyone else is in Neverland . . . SORA IS IN HER APARTMENT HUGGING PIYOMON. Thanks, Sora, you’re a real friend. *cough* After Taichi’s whistle blow, she intuitively knows what’s going on and says she believes in everyone . . . THANKS AGAIN, SORA, YOU CHEERLEADER. OK, look: I do think it is pretty selfish of Sora to choose not to fight. I understand all the reasoning behind it, I even think SHE DESERVES TO BE SELFISH FOR ONCE etc., and I am fine with it -- but I still think it’s selfish. Because it is. And that’s OK, nobody is perfect, and people are selfish from time to time. If only it wasn’t glaringly obvious that her selfishness happened only because Toei just wanted her out of the way for most of the film . . . her absence, as stated before, really was noticeable in scenes where literally everyone else was included but her. (I’d also just like to point out that her voice actress was STILL CREDITED THIRD after Taichi and Yamato in the ending credits. LOLing forever -- such little contribution, such big recognition. XD)
But don’t get me wrong, I love Sora. I really fucking do. Taichi used to be my second favourite character in Digimon for a long, long time -- but Sora managed to dethrone him from second place (fucking Yamato probably helped, LOL). I think, screen time-wise, Kizuna did her a bigger disservice than Our War Game did. Yes, let that sink in. Remember how little she was in that movie? It’s worse in Kizuna. But story-wise and character-wise? Kizuna probably did better, because Sora was angry over a hairclip in Our War Game lmao. If you haven’t already, check out her memorial story short “To Sora” that Toei Animation released online. It’s six minutes of Sora . . . which is 5 and a half more minutes than in Kizuna! XD;
There’s a scene where Agumon and Gabumon tell Taichi and Yamato that they like watching them grow up. It was very touching, but also very brief. It was one of my favourite moments though. It made me have quick flashbacks in my mind of itty bitty Taichi and Yamato growing up into who they are now. The enormity of everything they had been through since the first season. THE HISTORY. THE GROWTH. It hit me right in the feels.
Taichi and Yamato’s homoerotic-ness was actually toned down a lot, especially compared to tri.. They don’t have forced disputes where they get angry at each other and the gay sexual tension shoots through the roof. They’re just . . . friends. Two dudes who drink beer together and moan about their lives. The partnership between them and their digimon were the focus of the movie, more so than the friendship between them. I actually liked this, and I usually care more about the human connections over the human-digimon ones.
“Shipping moments” – if you squint hard enough. Takari: At the start, Takeru shields Hikari from harm. Sorato: While Taichi informs Yamato about the lives of some of the other Chosen Children, Yamato lets Taichi know what Sora is up to -- that she’s seriously studying flower arranging. Kenyako: Ken asks Miyako, and only Miyako, if she’s OK (when Daisuke is right next to her). Taiora: Sora says Taichi’s name when he blows the whistle in Neverland and she hears it all the way in the real world. (My sister legit whispered to me: “SHE DIDN’T SAY MATT’S NAME.” BITCH, he ain’t the one whistling! XP) Now, Digimon Adventure tri. shipbaited hard -- but Kizuna did not do this. All of these very small moments felt very organic and passed as if they were a natural part to the story, instead of something shoehorned in with the explicit purpose of shipbaiting. I really liked this approach. The Sorato one in particular (surprise, surprise) said a lot about Yamato’s relationship to Sora without being explicit about it. He knows what she’s up to when her childhood best friend doesn’t? Yeah, those two are definitely hooking up after classes. :P (I jest. But it does tell you with one sentence that Yamato and Sora keep in touch, which I appreciated. You gotta do that if you’re having babies together within the decade, you know?)
There were next to NO evolution sequences. I might remember it happening once or twice? Max. And . . . that was a REALLY lame choice. Especially when Agumon and Gabumon evolve to their newest forms; Taichi and Yamato are just floating with them up into the air and then, poof, the new evolutions are shown. Google tells me they’re just called Agumon -Bond of Courage- and Gabumon -Bond of Friendship- respectively . . . they were not named in the movie. Here’s the thing: I don’t really care about digimon and evolutions. But it was so underwhelming; they really should’ve amped it up with an evolution sequence to be like HERE BE THESE NEW AWESOME FUCKING DIGIMON ‘bout to kick your arse. It seems like such a no-brainer that I really don’t know who would sign off on a evolution sequence not happening. Oh well. As for the designs? They are OK, but definitely could’ve been better. I think “cool AF” when I see Omegamon and all his forms. I don’t think that of these new evolutions lol. (But my sister liked them and thought they looked cool, so . . .)
Also . . . the fighting scenes in this movie were pretty bad. Very underwhelming. Our War Game and Diablomon Strikes Back did a lot better. I both like and dislike the animation style in Kizuna. I do actually like the art of it, like how it looks. But I kinda dislike how it’s actually animated, because it doesn’t really look like they’re moving fluidly enough. It’s a bit too choppy. I just expected the fighting/action scenes to be more exciting (I was hoping Our War Game-level) and of a higher standard. But they are not, unfortunately.
Everyone in the cinema audibly GASPED when Taichi and Yamato were just talking to Agumon and Gabumon after the final battle, and then they turned around and they . . . just . . . disappeared. And then Taichi and Yamato CRIED. SO. HARD. And I actually started repeating in my head, DO NOT CRY, DO NOT CRY, lol. I didn’t cry! Almost, though. :p I really loved this scene. And I really think, narratively, it would’ve worked A LOT better for the movie to end on this scene. The actual ending scene that comes after it felt a little too out of place and tacked on to me. More on that later.
There was a small smattering of applause at the end of the movie, lol. But I did not clap, because I find that weird. :p (Even though I clapped, alone in my house, when Parasite won Best Picture at the Oscars LOL.)
The ending credits showed different photos of the kids. Unfortunately, I . . . don’t really remember most of them. XD; I think I saw Sora arranging flowers? And maybe Daisuke and Ken having dinner? I definitely saw Iori doing kendo, because I thought it was cool. And the one photo I definitely remember for sure: Yamato standing in front of a space shuttle. I stan astronaut!Yamato so hard, you guys have no idea how happy it made me that he’s pursuing his dream omfg my little baby boy. XD;
This is definitely Taichi and Yamato’s movie. Everyone else is just playing supporting/cameo roles -- some more than others, as outlined way above. (Well, except Menoa I suppose . . . and Koushirou to the extent that he’s just needed to be the Digi IQ.) But if you’re NOT a fan of either Taichi or Yamato? I think, though you’ll probably love all the nostalgia bits, you’ll also be really disappointed -- especially considering this is supposed to be the final instalment of the original Adventure continuity. It’s a great “love letter” to Taichi and Yamato specifically, but not for the other characters, sadly.
I saw the movie with my sister (a non-fan who used to like it as a kid) and a friend (a casual fan now, but she used to like it a lot years ago). I’ll refer to them as “S”(ister) and “F”(riend), respectively.
After the movie ended:
S: “Did you cry? Because two guys beside me were literally sobbing. SOBBING.” *Judging.* (LMAO.)
What was our favourite part of the movie?
Top 3 scenes for me were Yamato storming off with his eyes watering when he realises his bond with Gabumon has an expiry; the brief “speech” Agumon and Gabumon give to Taichi and Yamato about wanting to see them grow up; and Taichi and Yamato crying at Agumon and Gabumon vanishing. EMO EMO EMO.
S: “Sora doing fuck-all.” (LMAO.) F: “Yeah! What was up with that? It’s like they forgot she even existed.” S: “Sora is just a cunt.” (Note: S has a dry sense of humour and isn’t really being malicious. BUT . . . I do think most viewers watching Kizuna would have a poor opinion of Sora in this movie . . .)
F: “I liked the 02 kids. I guess it was mostly Davis. And I liked when Veemon was riding on Armadillomon’s back and Wormmon was trailing behind. It was just this random thing but it was funny. Maybe I just like making fun of Wormmon.”
About the idea that growing up affects your bond with your digimon:
S: “What I took from it was that you shouldn’t grow up too fast. Cherish your childhood, cherish your memories. But, eventually, you do need to grow up.”
F: “I don’t understand how this whole “Digimon disappear when you grow up” thing wasn’t known. Weren’t there older people with Digimon before? You’d think they could have made a more specific threat that was just affecting their digimon, not be like, “Yeah this happens to everyone, it’s just a fact of life that we’ve never addressed before.” It felt a bit like they were telling the audience to grow up and get over Digimon.”
What would we rate the film?
I probably have to watch it again to give a definitive score, but at the moment, I give it about a 7/10. It was good, but not great. The last half was pretty great though -- it definitely started out slow (there was a lot of exposition via Menoa vomiting words). Is it better than tri.? Chapter 3: Confession, no. Confession is better, I think, but I also haven’t seen it in years. But the rest of tri.? Probably. Especially the pile of shit that was Chapter 6: Our Future. *cough*
S: “4/10.″ (LOL.)
F: “It was better than tri.. I guess a 7/10 too.”
Sequel?
I think it’s definitely a possibility. I feel like the very last scene of the movie was slapped on just to be like, “Well, if we don’t do a sequel, you know that Taichi and Yamato are definitely going to reunite with their partners eventually for the 02 epilogue to happen.” The scene is of Taichi and Yamato saying something along the lines of meeting Agumon and Gabumon again one day.
And while it’s an uplifting ending, I actually think the movie would’ve ended better with the scene before that -- with the digimon disappearing and Taichi and Yamato crying. It would’ve made a bigger emotional impact and raised the movie up just a notch higher to end on such a ballsy note. But, of course, it would’ve meant a sequel definitely had to happen. So the actual final scene was added on so that a sequel doesn’t need to be made -- but that it leads to the 02 epilogue “off-camera”, in case they really don’t do a sequel.
I think there’s a 50/50 chance of a sequel. The movie actually does close the Adventure story pretty well -- it has all the ingredients to lead to the 02 epilogue without actually taking you there. But it also keeps the possibility of a sequel open, where they can show you exactly how Taichi and Yamato reunite with their digimon.
And, honestly, the only “barrier” I see to a sequel happening is that the reboot is airing next month -- and it’ll be confusing for the next generation of kids to follow one continuity, and then have a movie released with characters they recognise, but in an entirely different continuity. Unless, of course, the sequel comes out in another two years and the reboot has finished after one season (though there’s always a possibility it goes on beyond one season).
S: “Yes, I think there’ll be a sequel.”
F: “It seemed quite final. But obviously if the 02 epilogue is accurate that can’t be the end. Unless Matt finds Gabumon again on the moon I guess. “Oh hey yeah we don’t really disappear, we just go to space!” Yeah, it could go either way. Maybe they are saving Sora’s big part for the sequel!” (XD)
And that’s a wrap! I’ll probably read the novelisation of the movie eventually . . . and it’ll probably be like 95% the same, lol.

So the original plan for this month's Fifth Review was to cover the Adventure 02 movie, but it's such a thick soup of a film to sift through that I want to wait until I can pause and write my thoughts before trying to tackle it, like I did with Kizuna. But I'm still in a Digimon mood, so let's talk about some DigiXroses I designed. Again.
As, like, the only person who cares about DigiXroses mechanically, I've realized that DigiXroses have a rule of 7. If you look across all the Xroses you'll notice A) that no Digimon splits into more than 7 parts when forming a Xros, and B) no DigiXros is made up of more than 7 Digimon. Just a fun thing to note for when I eventually convince someone else to design one of these, themselves.
As for what I have to offer today, we have a new partner and Xros for the existing 2010 Greymon design; BoostKabuterimon and RizeGreymon Ver.Xros, designed by me and drawn by @/Ochistrikitu.
To be quicker than usual, I went with a Kabuterimon because Greymon's other partner is a Birdramon, and because I thought I could easily utilize the horn as a detail.

And while I didn't get them commissioned, I did design a second partner and evolution for this set in Tankdramon Ver.Xros and ShineGreymon Ver.Xros. I did break my rule for this, but I did this a while ago before I realized it was a thing. Anyway, I chose Tankdramon because of Darkdramon's rivalry with ShineGreymon, and because his shapes are perfect for DigiXrosing. I do want to tweak this design a bit if I ever do get it commissioned; just have a folding bar across the shoulders to make it seven pieces and redesign the chin/hood.
I mostly wanted to do this in prep for future projects, mostly I want to do a WaruMonzaemon that combines with the existing MetalGreymon 2010 to form a WarGreymon. I'm just waiting to get the Xros Figure of MailBirdramon so I can perfectly understand how that combination works to do it justice.

Overall, I hope you like them. Not much else to say apart from that. I'm working on a few other DigiXros projects that'll eventually make their way here. And, as always, I hope either this or a future project will inspire someone to try designing a DigiXros themselves, as I'd love to see other people's takes.

[18 - Bonds of Evolution!]
“Mitsuki… Do you think Zebra is a refugee digimon?” Elise’s question was straight to the point, but now with two weeks since their encounter with that Gabumon… She had to ask. She’s concerned and really had to ask.
“I told you” the older boy, phone in hands to record a new video of his discoveries from ‘ancient worlds’ (read it as stuff from past generations, 60s to 2010s) but not pressing that ‘rec’ button on the touchscreen, responded “It’s an assumption. Mirai and I were investigating the video from the town’s cameras.”
“Oh?”
“We don’t know why but… He was a BlackGarurumon when he crossed the gate.”
“He got hurt and devolved… Now it makes sense. Maybe he was fleeing from something?”
“It’s what Mirai is trying to discover since then” he frowned, and he had to shove those thoughts away… “Anyway, will you stay and be part of the video about the Tamagochi?”
“I… I need to take some snacks to Zebra. My dad is on a special mission in space, and my mother is working on the next website project.”
“Ah, fair then. Don’t forget to leave your like when i post the video~” he gave her a wink.
She giggled and nodded, then left the room.
“Natsu, is it possible to anyone use the pendant?” Daichi innocently asked, a deadpan face could hide his real reasons to make that particular question.
She took a while to reply, because being Daichi and Kiyoko’s nanny had taught her a few tricks those kids have.
“I assume it is. But you won’t get it from me, space-time travel is a dangerous thing and you’re responsible. Don’t try to use it without me.”
“Fine, I was interested about whatever happened on August 3rd.”
Natsu dropped her cup, but before it fell on the floor she used a pink bubble to capture it. Was he… “Sorry, Daichan but I can’t tell you that. Not yet.”
“Something happened there. In that world… What happened to my father in Mrs. Hikari’s place…?”
“It’s not something you need to know now. That story did not happen to him, it was with another Daisuke.”
“... If it is something that changed him, at least… His other-self is fine now?”
“Yes he is. Look at Hikari, she’s happy right now. Don’t worry, Daichan”
If Natsu could read him like she is able to read Daisuke, she would’ve realized him plotting something. He’s ready to uncover that secret, at all costs.
Mirai was typing furiously again on her keyboard, too focused on to see a kid getting in. She stopped typing once the lights turned on.
“You busy now?” She heard a boy’s voice and turned to the entrance.
“Ah, Taisuke you’re here. Geez, knock before coming in! I need focus!!”
“Sorry sorry” he gave a nervous laugh “So, you are working right now… Any progress?”
She shook her head as response, and relaxed on the chair, “Since you contacted me, I’ve been searching for what you heard from Draki. However… I’ve learned about the others got digivices and some not-known DigiRune fragments.”
A type and a few commands and she opened a screen with various symbols, twelve in one circle and two on a row, separated from the others.
“Daichi and Hoshi have these unknown two, I’ve found out that they’re Tenacity and Happiness. The other twelve, eight of them has been known since 1999.”
“Hm…” he took a a digivice (!?) from his pocket. It was like Daichi’s but orange details instead “Draki mentioned those were used years ago. At least nine of them.”
“I wonder why does that digimon know a lot about the time of the legendary Twelve” she rested her chin on her hand, very alike Koushiro when thinking “Did he ever tell you how?”
“No,” he gave a shake of his head, calmly “He only said that he had met Ambassador Agumon a long time ago, and that that Agumon is my dad’s partner.”
“I see… Have you asked mr. Yagami how did he and Agumon meet each other? I asked my dad about mr. Tento, and he said they’re friends for a long time ago but I assume there’s more.”
“Uh… More?”
“Yeah Like-- Oh wait, a digimon is near the sector F right now. Should I tell the others?”
“... I can go, if things get bad handled tell Daichi.”
A digimon with the looks of a human on a Cerberumon armor -- Cerberumon: Werewolf Mode -- appeared around Tokyo Big Sight, causing some chaos by terrorizing the people and digimon. It didn’t take much time until Ken’s arrival at the place, with Jewelbeemon.
“Capture the enemy” Ken ordered Jewelbeemon, “We need to ask them a few questions.”
“Roger.”
While the battle begun, the police tried to remove innocents from the area. On another place, Mimi had been in the TV Station and recording the next episode of her cooking show.
“And then you have a very delicious American Style Pancakes~ What do you would like to cook now? See you next time~”
“And cut” The director was Michael, Mimi’s husband. He had a smile in his face, “You were amazing today! Ah, Lilymon too.”
“When I evolve to this form, I can fulfill my inner chef~” Lilymon chirped “Oh next time we can try to make Croissant, like the ones we ate last month in France!”
“It’s a good idea!” Mimi grinned “Ah, I’d like to try make Pain au Chocolat too!”
A second later, the lights flashed til them shut down. Mimi and Michael looked at their digivices, and then they all fell the structure of Fuji TV tremble. They decided that this meant a digimon attack, or an earthshake. When the trio went to the window, they saw a MetalTyrannomon causing a fuss outside.
“Mimi” Lilymon gave a serious glare at her partner, who nodded. Michael looked back and to Betamon.
“Betamon and I will lead everyone to a safer area” he ran to the exit “Lilymon and you can handle it for a while, right? Call the Digimon Special Cases Unit for support.”
“Okay! Time to give them a lesson to not put everyone in danger! Lilymon, try to convince them to stop, maybe if you use your Flower Necklace against them?”
“Ok! One Flower Necklace might calm them down~”
Lilymon and Mimi left the building by the window, with the fairy-like digimon carrying Mimi in her arms. Once they landed, the duo noticed the mysterious Brave Tamer and a Blue Greymon fighting MetalTyrannomon, and the kid shouting to the innocents next to the area to leave quickly. Greymon wasn’t able to fight a perfect level digimon alone, but was enough to hold it for a while. Mimi glanced at Lilymon and her partner flew towards the fight, trying to create a ring of flowers around MetalTyrannomon’s neck. But before, Lilymon put Mimi at a safe distance from the fight.
“Ah shoot… It’s...” he muttered to himself.
“Hey child, you shouldn’t be here-- Huh, do I know you?”
“A-ah…? No you don’t!” he tried to mask his voice, making it a bit deeper “That digimon is targeting the Fuji TV building and Greymon and I are here to save the day, heheh.”
She didn’t believe it at all, or did she? Whatever was Mimi’s thoughts, she distracted for a second and something very very strange happened. She saw Lupinmon to the other side of the road, with a device. The black light coming from it hit MetalTyrannomon and made it evolve to RustyTyrannomon.
“What’s happening here!?” Mimi gasped, as Lilymon and Greymon are thrown away.
“G-Greymon!!” he dropped that tone of voice, running towards his partner.and stood closer to the digimon’s head “Are you okay, Greymon?”
“That voice…” Mimi thought, but her chain of thoughts had been interrupted when RustyTyrannomon tried to hit the kid and Greymon “W-WATCH OUT!!” she yelled desperately, only to see Greymon eyes glowing and getting his body covered by the evolution’s light.
The blue Greymon evolved… to a black armored WarGreymon, like the one the Chosen Children had fought in the past. However, the only new detail was that the Black Shield on his back had the Crest of Courage.
“W-what…??” Brave Tamer was petrified at the moment, with his partner blocking RustyTyrannomon’s attack “You… You evolved?”
Lilymon mega evolve! Rosemon!
To counter attack the enemy, Rosemon appeared and threw her vines against RustyTyrannomon, “Let’s send it back to the Digital World” she told WarGreymon, who nodded and looked back at the kid.
“Stay with that woman” WarGreymon ordered “We will handle it.”
“R-right…”
Mirai was sure something odd had happened, but she didn’t take part of it. She realized that two digimon had been in battle and those being Cerberumon and RustyTyrannomon. However, a third digimon approached from Elise and her new digi-friend.
Quickly, Mirai searched for the closest kid in the area. She at first thought of calling Daichi but she couldn’t find him at all. He was out of her reach. Her other option was…
“Mitsuki!! Big Problem, Elise is in danger! An unknown digimon is approaching from her and the found Gabumon, I can’t call Daichi or anyone so only you can assist her!!”
Mitsuki gasped, but had the sense to go and help his cousin as soon as possible. He quickly turned the computer off, grabber his D-TimeRune and went to the rescue.
But… How about Daichi? Why was he out of Mirai’s reach?!
“I can’t believe we’re back here” Ulforce wasn’t expecting Daichi to be ‘lucky’ and open the door to the same alternate world again, with the difference of it being three years later “How did you do that?”
“You weren’t tricking me, were you?” Natsu squinted her eyes at Daichi.
“No. It was a coincidence, and I feel there’s something we need to do here.”
Odaiba was normal, but something was odd. It was grayish, like if it colors had lost. He had to realize… That wasn’t even a normal world. They heard Ken’s voice.
“No… Please stay away from them…! You… You want me right?!”
The space-time traveler trio approached, and then hid behind a building. What they saw was the younger kids with Taichi facing… Daemon.
“What the…!?” Natsu whispered.
“Ichijouji no!” Taichi said “You can’t do that!!”
“I already hurt everyone, I can’t let--”
A truck stopped near them, and Arukenimon got out from it.
“Ichijouji Ken, you will come with us.”
“No!” Daemon spoke quickly and before Ken could answer her “He will come with me.”
“He will go with neither of you!” Daisuke growled, “Silphymon!”
“Wait Daisuke” Ken stood in front of the group, “Why should I go with you Arukenimon?”
“Wait, would you go with either of them!?” Miyako gasped.
“Oh, you won’t want those children to be disappointed with their favorite genius~” Arukenimon then open the truck’s doors and revealed children inside “Your choice, brat~”
“... You…!!” Ken had no other option and walked to the truck. The group and Daemon were surprised, but the 02 team and Taichi were the vocal ones.
“Don’t do that!” Taichi yelled “Ichijouji, don’t--”
It was too late, Ken entered in and Arukenimon closed the doors. She returned to her seat and the truck left. Daemon murmured something, like swearing and followed the truck.
“Ken!!” Daisuke tried to go after it but no lucky. Hikari evolved V-mon to Lighdramon, grabbed Wormmon and went after them “Hi-Hikari!!”
“That girl is audacious” Iori blinked, “So uh, what should we do?”
“Daemon Corp. is still around” Taichi begun “Imperialdramon is out of question, so I think it’s up to the rest of you. I will grab Yamato so we can plan how to rescue Ichijouji and assist Hikari. Daisuke, you’re the lead here.”
“B-But big bro…!!”
“Um… Can we help?” Daichi, Ulforce and Natsu walked into their direction. Again, he hid the goggles under his scarf.
“Wh-who are you!?” Miyako gasped “You look like Daisuke!!”
“No I don’t,” Daichi sighed “I’m just a regular Chosen Child.”
“... Any help is welcomed” Daisuke nodded “Who are you, kiddo?”
“... Just call me by Daichi please.”
“Ok, I’m Daisuke and these are Miyako, Iori, Takeru and my brother Taichi.”
“... We will follow them, if you trust us.”
Taichi and Daisuke looked at each other, then to the group. Could they trust that kid? Also, where did he come from? It could be a trap, or not? After a few minutes of glances at each other, Taichi shrugged.
“Ok, you kid go after Hikari and Ichijouji. The rest get focused against the Daemon Corp.”
“Right!” they all agreed.
