Devil May Cry-My Favourite Platonic Dynamics (In No Particular Order)

1.Nero and V

They’re brothers to me. Do you see it. But aside from that, their moments together hold a lot more meaning once you learn that V is Vergil and Nero is Vergil’s son. A father and son unknowingly bonding with each other and growing close, with V eventually opening up to Nero, since he was someone he trusted. Goddd the scene of V talking about his past to Nero makes me go insane.

2. Dante and Vergil

Shit twins!!!! My beloved!!!!! A pair of rivals from birth, a rivalry that has managed to survive even after all those years apart. I adore these shitass losers and I wanna see shenanigans of them down in Hell, and see them get closer to each other and become more like brothers than just rivals. Please god, I need more content of Dante and Vergil that isn’t fighting.

3. V and Griffon

Bastard man and his bastard bird. They bounce off each other so well and I love how Griffon acts as V’s voice of reason at times. And also how the familiars do genuinely care about V, like sure Griffon made the contract to save his own skin, but he is genuinely worried for V as the game goes on and V begins to crack and fall apart. I just love that silly goth man and his stupid bird

does anyone else think that killing off griffon, shadow and nightmare was a mistake from a writing perspective? to be clear, i think the reasoning in canon makes sense, they obviously want vergil to thrive and why would he want to cling onto his trauma so i'm not going to claim it's a plot hole (like many other parts of dmc). this is clearly a metaphor for letting go of trauma and moving on from it but to be honest, i think it would work better if he just reabsorbed them like he did v.

vergil's central theme in 5 (and especially Visions of V) was learning to live with trauma and so surely the end goal would be to accept it as part of himself so surely just expelling it when conveinient just cheapens the whole message. I'm not saying this just cause I want him to suffer more but while trauma doesn't define him, its a pretty core part of what made him the man he is in the present. in fairness, we dont know exactly what the ramifications of the trio dying is. while "the end of vergil's nightmares" could mean a number of things, we do know they are all biproducts of his time under mundus so any pre-mundus trauma is presumably in tact. nevertheless its not explicitly stated whether that means that vergil has straight up gotten rid of sections of his memory or if the memories are still there and he just doesn't think about them any more. either way to me it all feels a bit like a cop out

If Griffon ever gets resurrected he deserves to become Big™ like the original Griffon was.

Vergil rides him around when portalling with Yamato isn't an option. He still says "upsy daisy" and calls Vergil high maintenance (affectionately).

He has a divinity statue tied to his neck, just to completely become Vergil's answer to Nico.

1.None. This bird will pluck out your eyeballs and most likely eat them.

2. If you can convince him you are a bird then he will perform a mating call. He will do the dance of the birds of paradise but instead of hearing David Attenborough it will sound like Gilbert Gottfried.

Shadow

First Date:

None unless you steal some furry's costume from a convention and you both get high on catnip while watching the lion king.

Nightmare

First Date:

If you value your life than none. This monster resembles something between the iron giant and the great mighty poo from conkers bad fur day. It's also not much of a date if he keeps ghosting you unless you have an inanimate supply of purple orbs. It is reccomended that you don't ride him shadow of the collosus style.
