Is the doctor shadow attracted to sonic?

 I would like to think he himself is unsure, or at least never gave it much thought. When they were together back in the day, Shadow did fancy Sonic and actually grew attached, making it hit even harder when Sonic broke up with him. Shadow is almost completely out of touch with his affectionate side at this point. So, when Sonic becomes his patient and they are forced to interact, he isn't sure if he still feels any kind of love for Sonic. He's just doing his job and slowly manipulating Sonic to become worse in turn.

In a sense, it would make Shadow’s emotional detachment feel more realistic. Maybe he's trying to protect himself from being vulnerable again. He could be suppressing his affections, not wanting to risk being hurt, while also grappling with the remnants of those feelings (or maybe he's just a petty bitch which is also a fun narrative tbh). His affection is left ambiguous to the viewer and it’s up to them if he feels remorse for corrupting Sonic's mental and physical health.

Having Shadow slowly manipulate Sonic's decline while remaining emotionally distant was just really interesting to think about. It allows for various questions to be asked: does Shadow feel guilty for what he’s doing to Sonic? Is he just trying to control a situation he once felt powerless in, or is he just unable to stop himself from exploiting Sonic’s vulnerabilities because of his own unresolved pain?

It just adds a level of moral grayness that makes Shadow’s character much more layered. It ended up getting a lot deeper than I initially planned for since the first thought I had was “hahah what if Shadow was an evil doctor or something” but I can’t say I’m not having fun with this concept.

Little hc I always had for Idia I'd like to yap a moment about it since I think it's silly really but

Idia to me is a black butler/kuroshitsuji fan (self-projection woah), and that's a very known fact in my own twst au (mention kuro in her vicinity and you'll be hearing hour long yaps without stop). My Idia is also transfem/a transwoman, and for that her favourite character is Grelle because she wants to be like her, Grelle is HER icon and maybe also a celebrity crush shhh. If you really want to befriend Idia ask her about Kuro or just Grelle in general and be prepared for the yap of the century (you're never leaving).

But here's the thing, if Idia was transmasc/a transman in my au, he would've still been a kuro fan but the only difference would be is that his favourite character to be Gregory instead of Grelle, same reason as before, it's because he'd want to be like him. Plus I personally hc Gregory as transmasc as well so it goes together nicely I think, bonus points if you also hc Idia as an artist (which I do LMAO). idk I think Idia would just look at Gregory and go "Ouh.... I wanna be him" (and perhaps Idia might also dress in dark colors if he has the confidence enough to do so)

hot take (especially for this site) but someone doing a bad thing doesn't always make them a bad person. sometimes it can if it's really extreme, but like people can make mistakes, or feel guilt about what they've done, or try to be better

imo you're only "irredeemable" if you don't want to try and be redeemed. bring back forgiveness

obviously this doesn't apply to every context, and it's entirely up to the person hurt if they want to be forgiving. but i think it's become too normalised to hate someone based on a single fuck up and ignore everything else about them / what they've done

i am so tired of female characters being inherently written as ‘terrifying’ or ‘scary’ w no respect to their characterisation.

for one, it feels so fake. i know so many women irl (i am one!!!) and there are very few, of any, that i would categorise as ‘scary as is’. heck, even if we go by tempers—the numbers just don’t match.

but somehow in fics, every single woman is a terrifying force of nature bc that’s…somehow…the only way we can think of women? idk?

and also just, it’s such a two dimensional characterisation that i only see w the female characters. all men aren’t angry and hex-happy and scary all the time. they’re affable, chill, respond to situations thoughtfully instead of always resorting to violence.

i think it also bothers me bc the anger thing flows neatly into the v gendered carefree man child/stuck up fun sponge stereotypes that so many relationships are forced into. it’s just an icky dynamic all around.

and lastly,,,i don’t think it’s even normal for a character to be latently terrifying everyone all the time??? unless it’s a specific quirk of theirs??? like women aren’t dementors bro chill tf out
